Centennial Moving

We recently had Centennial move our Eurocave winefridge a very expensive appliance. They moved it from Ottawa area to St Albert Alberta. It was picked up without problems, crossloaded to another veh and approx 21 days later delivered to us within the timeline agreed. There was no damage and the two man crew diligently put it in our house with no damage to the unit or the house.

Payments were made easily, deposit and final amount.

Cost was at a set rate of 1000 lbs, so unfortunately we paid a 1000 pound cost for a 250 lb item, but given todays fuel costs this is the cost of doing business so understood.

We were very happy with the service and would use them again.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $1500

I used service from Centennial for moving household items from Toronto to Calgary. I expected it to take max 3 weeks, but the total time was exactly 45 days which was too long. I was told the reason as weight discrepancy i.e. difference in estimate and actual. I'm just surprised as estimates are just that. Also, the Packers at my pickup did not pack the furniture nuts / screws properly for the bed and table, these should have been kept in a pouch / bag. Few screws went missing for the bed. One important nut was missing from the delivery but when I insisted the team to check, they found it lying in the truck floor. This is poor service and I won't be using Centennial again.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2820

I have used the Centennial service for my Intra provincial move from Toronto to Edmonton. Its completed with in a month. Overall the move is satisfactory, I have received all my goods with out any damages. But I have 2 suggestion. First when you have pick from downtown, consider sending a small trucks instead big one. Most of them may not have sufficient space for big trucks. I was in panicked when the pick up guys came with big truck and said the truck can't fit in the apartment loading area. Try to visit the pickup location/Drop location and send the appropriate truck. because as a client we can't guess what truck will be sent and whether will it fit in loading area. Second, please don't change the estimates just before the pickup. I have been contacted by team just 2 days before my pickup and mentioned that there is an additional charge of 270CAD extra for drop location they need different shuttle service, which left me with no option of other than accepting the extra charge. I have paid the advance and reserved the service almost 3 weeks before my move, if there is an extra charge you should have informed at least week before. Other than these 2 issues, pickup and delivery was satisfactory.

Moved from Alberta to Nova Scotia - everything made it and nothing was broken. Great job by the movers. The people at the office were readily available for any communication.

Now, they may have been there to communicate, but they were only able to give us a one week window for a pick up instead of an actual date. They also weren't able to tell us where our items were until 24 hours before delivery.

The other reason for the low rating was the cost. I used their online calculator, came up with an agreed upon quote, and the cost upon delivery was almost twice what I had been quoted. The quantities I had entered to generate the quote were almost the same as what was actually moved.

If you choose Centennial, don't expect to pay what you're quoted - expect to pay double, and expect to have no idea when they're coming or when your items are arriving.

We recently moved from Southern Ontario to the Interior of BC and had a very positive experience with Centennial!

From the first day we called them, each sales rep./dispatch were all extremely responsive and answered all of our questions. Moving across the country entails many pieces and can be very stressful on people, but Centennial definitely helped ease our stress and fears as we were able to trust our things were in good hands.

We would certainly recommend Centennial to anyone looking for a cross-country move. All our belongings were taken care of and reassembled well when they arrived at our destination.

Pricing was very competitive and the service was certainly met to our high expectations!

They canceled on us. 36 hours before our move, with deposits paid, flights booked, vacation taken, temporary accommodation found etc, they sent us an email to let us know they couldn't do our move. Instead, they proposed a later date - one where we would no longer have access to the condo we were moving from.

This forced me to try and find a different mover on 24hrs notice, costing us thousands of dollars more, and causing considerable stress for my pregnant wife, infant and dog just as we were embarking on a cross-country move.

I've moved dozens of times in my life and this was the worst experience by far.

Feels like we just got scammed by Centennial.
