Best Interstate Moving and Storage

I worked w/ Matt during the front end of the process (sales) and Paula / Jasmine during the move. Matt was very patient and answered all of my questions / concerns. Paula / Jasmine were excellent in shepherding us through the entire process from our move from VA to IL. Paula provided peace of mind, checking in regularly to make sure everything was on track / we were satisfied. It was great to know I had a resource to call directly (who was not the moving company itself) should there be any questions or issues to address (i.e. like a trusted representative / advisor). Most importantly, our belongings were delivered on time and in same condition, and the movers were nice and careful moving things. Simply put, I'd recommend BIMS.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4800

BIMS was professional, helpful, and even went above and beyond when the contractor they hired to move me lost my bookshelf. I'm still not sure how that happens. You put it on the truck. How does it get off the truck? At any rate, the company that moved me was far less impressive. In addition to losing furniture, they didn't put some furniture back together properly, cracked a table, stacked boxes upside down, and scuffed walls. They made wise cracks about how all my boxes wouldn't fit into my kitchen (they didn't know I have a huge pantry and I didn't tell them because it was none of their business). When they saw that a box was wet, they laughed between themselves as though it were funny that something spilled in my box. (Nothing had spilled and I don't know why the box was wet.) At any rate, my gripes are NOT with BIMS. The contractor they used (Helix, I believe) was atrocious. Oh, yeah, AND they added $600 to the estimate BIMS had given me.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3900

I have mixed feelings about our move. Our crew that picked up our things were very courteous and friendly and packed things very well. But did pack things they were told that stayed with the house. On the other hand on delivery they tried to bump our delivery up a day with only a few hours notice. Although we were able to stay with the original day scheduled. The crew that delivered our furniture were less than professional. I don't know who loaded this truck, but there were crushed boxes from forcing into place. Boxes put in upside down even boxes mark to be oriented in a certain manner. And still upside down when brought in. And not put into the room they were asked to put them in. The good point there was minimal damage. One table they packed has a gauge in it. Also I was asked to write a personal check for $150.00 for the stairway which I thought was in the quote. But at that point I couldn't find my paperwork.
All in all things could have been much worse.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7000

Moved from Michigan to Maryland on short notice with a tight window so that we could be unpacked before my wife started her residency. They met all of the deadlines and their weight estimate was higher than the actual weight. The additional packaging and stair charges were significant and while they were in the contract slapping tape on something hardly is considered packaging. Also after paying the additional stair charge the movers were unable to move a grill to our roof and didn’t not offer to disassemble and reassemble. Also I had to take the feet off our couch to get it inside the house. Small things but all and all can’t complain.

We moved from Missouri to North Carolina. The communications between Best and the contract movers they hired was very poor and made for trying times. Because of this poor communication I did not receive my balance due or my delivery window until 3 weeks after I requested a date.

This was also during Hurricane Florence so they were flexible with the delivery window due to flooding. That was helpful. If we ever move again from one state to another, I doubt if we use them again.

When planning a move from FL to NH, I spoke to a few different moving companies before settling on Best Interstate. They were clear in communications and timeframe.
The only minor glitch occurred when the moving truck was a bit late to arrive to begin the move/packing, but due to the weather, this was understandable.
The moving and drop-off crew were polite, professional and really efficient, and all items, even the fragile ones were received in perfect condition.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2800

Best Interstate Moving and Storage was a stress free way to move. I was moving from Minnesota to Florida and didn't want to have to worry about driving a UHaul with all of my furniture and boxes. I called BIM to get a quote and immediately signed up. The price is reasonable and they offered 30 days of free climate controlled storage. The storage was extremely helpful because I didn't get my keys in Florida until 2 weeks after driving down. It was very nice to not have to worry about moving my items to 2 different houses due to timing. The only hiccups I had in my move were that I got about 15 hours notice for when my items would be picked up and that my boxes were a little dented when they arrived in Florida. The pickup date was still within the window they quoted me I just didn't get a very advanced heads up. I did carefully pack all of my items so even though the boxes were dented, none of my items were damaged or broken. The customer service reps were patient and answered all of my questions.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2300

For the most part, I had a good experience with Best Interstate. My move coordinator did an excellent job helping me sort out the pick up time for my items. The movers were quick and professional. My items arrived in great condition, and the price also can’t be beat.

The reason I gave four stars and not five is that I had some difficulty receiving confirmation of my actual drop off date. Best Interstate was hesitant to give me a specific date my items could be delivered, which I understand is difficult to do far in advance, but even when my goods were picked up my movers did not know when they could first deliver. I was moving to a new city and did not want to be in limbo in an apartment without furniture for days. I ultimately decided to store my items for a few days to avoid having to move to dc without confirmation of when my goods would arrive, but even then Best Interstate was not very helpful about communicating the first day I should request delivery to ensure I would have my items when I needed them. Ultimately, everything worked out perfectly—I received my things exactly when I wanted to, but I found scheduling delivery to be unnecessarily complicated.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2500

When I first called Best interstate moving company they took no time to give me a quote and asked me for the move-in date. I checked around to see who was the lowest price, this wasn’t my first choice but after speaking to the other people I went with this company. I’m glad that I use this company. I moved from New York to Madison Alabama. The movers came and disassemble my bed and move my things out of my apartment. My furniture arrived and they put my bed back together again. The staff at best Interstate moving company were all great. Ms. Rodriguez, Paula, and Roosevelt took my calls and help me out tremendously.
Only one bad thing that I experience was one of the mover on the End of my move was Very loud and mean. I overlook this because everything had went like clockwork. I had went with another company to move my car and they had trouble getting my car Out of New York, so I asked this moving company to pick up my car and they did. My car came right to my door with no problems. Thank you best Interstate moving company.

Interstate team did a great job. Alison did the estimate via the phone, help us prepare for the move and was very helpful for us to understand the process and most accurately estimate the cost.
Ms. Woodruff was very professional in reviewing and finalizing the bill at the end of the process.
The XPress Moving freight they contracted did a very fine job.
Sheldon and Jack who led the physical move were extremely helpful. They were careful with items. Wrapping and padding those that needed. Both the move out and move in to the new location was facilitated by their experience and goodwill. And their strong backs. I would recommend Best Interstate use them specifically again.
They made what can be a challenging experience a good one that exhibited professionalism. I would recommend Best Interstate Moving.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $9800

Such a disappointing experience. Waited 6 months to write the review in hopes of seeing things differently. In short most of what they promised they didn't follow through on.
Promised a set cost for packing for the whole house, with the cost being pro-rated based on how many boxes I packed only to have the movers tell me that was not how it was going to work.
I was promised that our stuff would get there between 7 days and 14 days and no longer than 21 days, and the move took well over a month.
The company never knew where our stuff was during that time. People always assured me they understood the concerns and would make sure my concerns were addressed, but they weren't
I told them I wanted to make sure that the amount was settled before the truck came, and they agreed. We didn't settle until after the truck came and the driver was threatening to leave. The cost was 4K over estimate. I can't believe how much stuff was lost, and once I paid this company never returned my calls.
Lesson learned I made a bad decision, please don't repeat my mistake, I would recommend you not use this group.

March 6th, 2019: As of this day, Best Interstate Moving and Storage (Broker) has felt it best to disassociate themselves with me as a customer. I regrettably admit that in extreme frustration I hung up a call with Stephanie Little (Manager). Regardless of my apology, Best Interstate now chooses to ignore me as a customer and their misguided advice they gave me all the way up to 03-01-2019. They do not or will not respond to my email or calls.

As of March 5th, 2019, this is my attempt in determining and documenting liability for my packing and move that took place on 03-08-2018. I have made some regrettable choices in regards to this whole transportation transaction with the following parties: Best Interstate Moving and Storage (Broker).

On March 4th, 2019, I was informed by carrier hired by Best Interstate that my household goods were in New York at an unknown storage facility. The reason that they are there is that in July of 2018, carrier dispatch called me stating they were in New York to deliver. This was extremely supersizing as I had no permanent address in New York.

Best Interstate has the responsibility to ensure customers are informed of poor service and complaints regarding partner carriers. The issue is that I was not informed of questionable practices of Best Interstate until after the contract was initiated.

1) I was never notified of their arrival or intention to deliver.
2) I spoke with the driver the evening they called and the driver indicated that he had another delivery and that my household goods were thrown on the truck last minute.
3) I spoke with Dispatch Manager, and they indicated that there was no issues and said to ignore the call.
4) My household goods are still in New York to date. (03-06-2019)

In many conversations with Best Interstate staff and managers, they informed that the carrier had some serious operational concerns, to include, deceptive practices such as keeping household goods hostage of other customers and household goods being damaged in their care. I have come to the realization that Best Interstate has attributed to my goods being taken hostage.

I would imagine that this complaint or review will simply go unnoticed and forgotten about as Best Interstate disregards their responsibility and not holding up to claims on the website.

I have made formal complaints with the Department of Transportation and it can be assumed that no assistance will be given from that.
