Long-distance move from Edinburgh, Midlothian to Edinburgh, Midlothian

Good Service.

I have used Anyvan before which is why I came back as it has always been a useful and good service. For this job they got me five quotes to move two pieces of furniture which were all very competitive. There was a problem with the me accepting the quote I wanted and then I accepted another one by mistake. The lady on the end of the phone was very helpful and sorted everything out. The company that completed the work were very respectful and cared about the furniture being moved. There is a lot of history behind one of the pieces. I will certainly use this company again. IT cost me £59 in total not bad.

It does what it says.

It's a website where you can get multiple quotes from different moving agencies for a job. We used it to move lab equipment from one place to another. And even though we only had one quote, it was a lot cheaper than other companies I called, and the moving was done professionally and quick by helpful staff. It would have been nicer had we gotten more quotes, but in the end, it did the job.

Great if you are careful.

I used anyvan for a move travelling a fairly large distance (Edinburgh/Glasgow area to Yorkshire). The move went great and the removal company were very professional. I used a company that had over 700 reviews and anyvan are very good at getting you a quote at very little effort and no haggling required. It does have some downsides, there are some bad companies on the site so be careful and I believe anyvan can do a better job of removing these companies.I used anyvan twice, firstly the removal company didn't turn up & 2nd time the removal company were amazing.

I have however given 5 stars as anyvan deserve a high rating then they currently have; they can really get you a great deal due to their bidding program.

A lucky find.

We had not heard of ANY VAN and were planning on doing a rent a van and drive from Scotland to Londo. So glad we didn't. Fabulous service start to finish. The guys arrived on time - bith at pick up and delivery. They were courteous, friendly and professional at what they do. I could not believe how quickly they completed they loaded the van. It is a great idea and I will definitely be using again.
Communication was excellent from start to finish.

Don't book for long distance moves.

BEWARE of booking Anyvan for a long haul delivery.
My son was moving his things from Edinburgh to Cheshire. The initial driver failed to turn up and his phone was switched off. The 'so called replacement' driver promised to come the following day but kept changing his story of when he would arrive. He then turned abusive using language I cannot repeat here. Even if he had turned up he would not guarantee the day, YES DAY that my son's things would arrive in Cheshire!!
Anyvan's customer service was very apologetic but are at the mercy of the drivers who obviously call all the shots. They offered to refund the deposit but made no gesture for the inconvenience caused.
In the end my son and husband had to drive up ((9 hour round trip) to collect the stuff and there were all sorts of unwanted 'knock on' effects such as inconveniencing flatmates in Edinburgh and a new tenant moving in etc etc not to mention the stress and hassle caused.

Go elsewhere.

I used anyvan in August when exchanging houses with my brother. We only used them for the larger/heavier items. My goods were loaded up no problem however my drivers couldn’t unload and had to wait as the drivers for the other property were late. Eventually my goods were moved in. When I arrived at the house I discovered part of the garden wall was knocked down, around half a dozen stones and 2 coping stones next to the entrance path. I contacted anyvan that evening and practically the first words out of the customer service persons mouth was that “insurance only covers the goods being moved”. So, anyvan drivers can trash your property but as long as the itemised goods being moved aren’t damaged, that’s acceptable? What terrible company policy. She asked me to send a photograph, which I did. After several e-mails from myself looking for updates, eventually I was told that as there were two lots of drivers, due to it being an exchange, they didn’t know which drivers were responsible so there was nothing they could do. The driver who moved my goods into the property said that he witnessed the other drivers causing the damage and thought they had informed my brother however they hadn’t. He told this to anyvan. This other driver ‘Piotr’ stated that he’s ‘unaware of any damage’. I’m quite sure he was aware as the broken coping stones had been picked up and put on the wall however the half dozen stones were still lying on the pavement. Please save yourself a headache and take your business to a company with ethics and adequate insurance.

Motorcycle move.

I used Anyvan to move a custom motorcycle. First attempt was unsuccesful as the van had a tailgate and the bike was too long for the tailgate and too low to use a ramp. The pick-up was rescheduled and went like clockwork. Very good would recommend but ensure you provide them with all relevant information on the goods to be transported unlike I did.

Screwed Over by Cancellation.

Got properly screwed over by these guys. Booked a van about 1.5 weeks in advance and everything went according to plan, payed them without a hitch.
Then at about 6pm the day before the move got a phone call saying that they had to cancel my van as "they couldn't find anyone". Angry was an understatement. They cancelled on me the day before with no removal van in a flat the the lease ran out on the next day, with a delivery that was over 100 miles so nothing I could do myself, being a student without a car. I specifically told them I had no flexibility in my dates when booking, WHY ACCEPT if you can't do the job!!
Got a "sorry" over the phone. Got a full refund -pending at time of review - but still not happy at all.

Totally messed about!!

Hired a van and man was all ok booked then when I phoned was told more money was needed, was told everything was ok again.

well after a bit of confusion when simon told me they couldn't take my items (we move (ANYTHING) ANYWHERE)

eventually after speaking to his supervisor and sales team they said yes they could take one of my items. so all booked again

On the day im prepared the other side is also prepared for collection half way through the day I get a call sorry we can't do it we don't have anyone. I said you can't just phone me on the day, her reply well what do you want me to do. I said to do your job and send me the van and man I booked and paid extra for for the specific date very unprofessional with me, evening comes I phoned back sorry we couldn't find anyone in your area I can refund you at this point ive waited all day and the other people who only had one day off.

so to be frank you don't move anything anywhere and if your not up to the job then don't mess the customer around just be honest.

If I was the boss of this company or owner I would be so annoyed id be re looking at whos running my business or not running it

I will never recommend you to anyone you totally messed me about and waisted all our time
In the end I hired a van myself job done.

HORRENDOUS!! Do not use!!

Do NOT use AnyVan for anything!
Basically, I paid for a premium same day delivery for my motorbike to be delivered from Rotherham to London. At 1pm I was promised the van would be with me within the hour, for the driver to then say he wouldn’t be there until 4, for a FLAT BACK to turn up at 4.30. Obviously I refused to put a 10k bike on this and ask for the ‘VAN’ I’d paid £380 for! The sprinter van then turned up at 7.25pm after promising to be back by 6pm and promised my buyer in London he would be there for 10.30. My buyer then stayed up until 3 in the morning to receive a shoddy txt from the driver saying that he wouldn’t make it until 8/9 in the morning as there was an accident on the M1 (a little research later, there was no accident!!) They eventually arrived with him at 12pm! During all of this I have dealt with your extremely RUDE & OBNOXIOUS ‘customer service’ guy, Mark, I use the term customer service lightly as he couldn’t be any further from being in the correct role! I have been hung up on and spoke down to on every occasion I have dealt with him, without so much as an apology! The whole process has been a joke! I wouldn’t touch this company again with a barge pole and I will go out of my way to bad mouth this company as much as possible!!

Terrible Experience - do not use.

Booked 2 wardrobes to be picked up over 100miles away for Friday. To be delivered to us the same day or next day before 12. Driver turned up to pick up wardrobes and couldn't fit them in his van - even though we have specified exact dimensions.

The people the other end had waited in all day. We rang AnyVan to complain and they re-booked for the Saturday. I expressly asked that if they were to deliver to us the same day then it needed to be by 4PM at the latest as we have to go out after that. The job was booked and I was notified that it would be later in the evening for drop off. I asked the driver if he could deliver by 4PM and he told me it wasn't possible. Rang AnyVan again to complain - they promised to re-book and make sure the pick up slot was between 0800-1300 - which would mean the delivery would be with us before 4. Let the people know the other end that the driver would be there by 1300.

The next day (day of pick up and delivery) I was notified that the driver would not get to pick up until 1430 - 1500. I was furious! I rang customer service (again!) and they said there was nothing they could do - but to wait until the delivery had arrived for me to put a formal complaint in. The wardrobes finally arrived at 1915 - the drivers were really helpful, polite and lovely. I cannot fault them at all. We had to cancel our night out - not happy.

Rang this morning to complain and again - like other reviews - was not able to talk to a manager or anyone else. Again - all I got was a £17 refund for missing the delivery slot. No compensation offered. I was told that the case would be referred to the driver team - I said I had no issue with the drivers at all - it's the AnyVan customer service I have a huge issue with. They said there was nothing else they could do! Please do not use them . They have absolutely no regard for their customers or the service they receive.

Laurel & Hardy Removals.

A one-star review is way too generous for this company. I could sit here all day writing about how Anyvan made our move so much more stressful (and expensive) than it should have been. Suffice to say steer clear of this shower at all costs. They purport to be a national removals company but actually farm out jobs to local two-bob companies, so you run the risk of ending up (like we did) with a pair of amateurs in a van that was way too small. They were surly, apparently unconcerned about the time factor involved (do they not know what "completion" means?), clueless about how to disassemble furniture (a "service" that we paid extra for) or load a van properly and they damaged some of our items through sheer carelessness. Use at your peril - they are truly awful.

First class service.

I booked a collection and delivery of a dining table and chairs, the process was clean easy to complete.

On the day the live tracking provided 100% accurate and allowed me to go about my days activities without impact.
Finally driver was extremely friendly and unpacked the furniture quickly and with great care.
I highly recommend this service and will be using again.

Anyvan Will Not Refund Account Credit.

The original driver misled me with availability, after booking COULD NOT DO THAT DAY. Poor English Bad Experience. ANYVAN made error in refunding to my account , this in my favor, I notified them and they corrected. THEN got successful delivery (Very good), but a balance of £5 left in credit my account. ANYVAN Insisted they would not refund my money to me. It had to used on next job. I DO NOT WANT NEXT JOB, I WANT MY MONEY. This is a poor practice (noted before), I will be challenging this in County Court in 3 weeks. I would never use ANYVAN again.

AnyVan.

Avoid this company, they are disreputable cowboys. Two delivery men booked through this site (company name 'Siva') significantly damaged a valuable cabinet during transport by rushing and manhandling the object. 'Siva' refuse to pay any compensation and AnyVan won't help. Their claim that 'all their drivers must be insured' is useless when their contractors won't use this insurance to pay for damages. I will use a regulated company in the future and advise others to do the same.

Dan and his team were just the best guys you'd wish for to move you, they were cheerful, polite, very hard-working. Nothing was a problem. Dishonesty hidden in small print.

Take care not to confuse their Advertising with their Small print1. They cancel uncomfortable feedback at their discretion2. They have no contractual responsibility between the customer and the Transport provider3. Accreditation of Transport Providers is lax I bet they ask for this feedback to be cancelled

Gnerally if all goes well then fine, though if not then their only responsibility is to make money for themselves. This is hypocritcal as they market themselves as a 'community' and one whre the ordinary rules of business and law are ignored. E bay for example leeaves real feedback, but not Anyvan.

Don't bother.

Would love to comment on their service but they never turned up. And the only thing stolen is my deposit which they have not returned yet. Terrible customer service. Avoid - the worst and I agree with previous reviews about honesty and the lack of it

The sales guy is not even bothering to return my calls or deposit

I was stranded on a Saturday morning with my family including my two year old son all packed and ready to go and the van didn't turn up. When I called I got some lame excuse that they only worked Monday to Friday and that customer services ( ha ha) couldn't access the system with my booking. I was told to call back Monday morning..very funny not

Terrible company and terrible service - avoid avoid avoid.

Don't bother with this site.

I posted a job for quotes. One of the quotes came back asking me for further information that I had actually put in the 'further information' section on the website. When I went in to check my entry - most of that information wasn't there. I rang 'anyvan' and got the response "Oh yes, I can see all the information here, I don't know why it hasn't all loaded up".. no suggestion of dealing with this problem of the website.

This meant that none of the quotes that I got were of any use as the quoters didn't have the full information.

I rang one of the numbers listed on a quotation and the number turned out to be some freelance person answering the phone for 'anyvan'. I told this person the full information and asked to know what dates the van would be available to do the job. The freelance person said she would pass the query on. She rang me back 10.30pm at night! I was not pleased. She also said the quote would actually be 50% higher than the written quote.

I wouldn't bother with this site ever again.

Do Not Use Anyvan.

See below my experience with AnyVan.. and surprise surpise, they did nothing about it. DO NOT USE THEM.

I am writing in relation to my recent experience with your business, Any Van. On Saturday 7 May at 3.30pm/4pm, I was expecting to move to a new property in X from X. I had made my Any Van booking on Friday 6 May via an agent named Sam, who took my £15 deposit and provided the driver's personal number. Understandably, during that call, I was reassured that this time was set in stone and obviously ensured I was packed and ready to go accordingly.

However, at no point was I sent a confirmation email, so I took it upon myself to text my driver at 2pm Saturday. On doing so, he called me instantly and insisted he was not familiar with the booking and was instead in Southampton. Although he mentioned he could reach me to do the job at 6pm, this was obviously going to be two hours later than the confirmed booking.

It was at this point I called Any Van to find out why my job had not been booked and also requested an alternative driver, having already had to waste 20 further minutes of my time on the hold line. I was finally put through to an extremely unhelpful agent who quite frankly lacked any kind of customer service skills. Given the awful experience I'd been given so far, I would have at least expected an apology, which I did not receive. I also was not given any kind of explanation as to why I was finding myself without a driver.

After another ten minutes, I was called by a man claiming to be my new driver. Again, I was shocked by his tone and approach to customer service but on the other hand happy that he was going to be at my property for 4pm. On arrival he was not only unfriendly but particularly unhelpful, making the situation very uncomfortable. Having explained that unfortunately there was no lift, he sighed and complained despite me having very few belongings and nothing of considerable weight - I even helped to carry some of my belongings. He himself even tried to contact you to complain but gave up given the ridiculous hold time involved. It was at this moment that he explained we would have to come to an "arrangement" given he was not aware there would be stairs involved. He also requested that I pay him more money on the spot, which understandably I was not prepared to do given a fee had been agreed with your agent.

It was during the payment conversation that the driver then became agitated and particularly unpleasant, if not threatening. As a young female moving on my own given my family are situated abroad, I put my trust in businesses like yours to make the move as painless and quick as possible. I do not expect to feel threatened on my own property! Not only was he shouting at me and demanding more money, he then started carrying my boxes back up the stairs, leaving them on various levels of the building and even outside. By this point, I was understandably visibly upset as I felt very vulnerable as there was no one nearby to help me. Despite me instructing him to leave my belongings, he ignored me and continued to destructively move my valuables around. In fact, I felt so threatened and so distraught I contacted the police- an action I did not take lightly. Once he had finished pointlessly moving my things back up the stairs, he left and I was left for two hours outside in order to protect my belongings he'd left there, as there were too many items for me to carry alone and quite rightly did not want to leave them unattended. I cannot imagine this is the service you promise or expect to give your clients? And there is no doubt this is a service I expect to pay for!

After this ordeal, I resorted to calling Any Van again - by this point it is 4.30pm and I should have been en route to my new property. I was very upset and in shock that one of your valued and trusted drivers would behave in such a manner but instead of receiving immediate attention, I had to wait on hold AGAIN. The apology I received from your agent was particularly insincere despite me obviously being very shaken up - as you can see there was quite a pattern in the diabolical customer service I received along the way.

In the meantime, I had text the original driver to see if he was available and luckily he was, although not until 6.30pm - a considerable time after my original booking time. Not only had half of my day been wasted, I had been verbally abused and felt threatened, but I was now also having to book my own driver - should this not be the role of Any Van?

Overall, something that was meant to be an exciting new chapter, turned out be a horrible experience due to the ill service I received from Any Van. Subsequently, I will not ever be using your service again, nor would I recommend it to any of my associates.

Paid for service but service not provided.

Horrible experience with Anyvan, driver never came, keeps making excuses why he can't come to complete the removal service. Been over 3 weeks and the service has still not been provided, asked for money back and the driver was aggressive and rude. Wasted so much time on this, also took days off work for removal van man to come but he never did. In total he tried to reschedule 5 times, it was such a stressful experience. I would recommend people to get removal vans from word of mouth or more reliable sources and not from Anyvan, do not trust the feedbacks on Anyvan - the removal van guy can delete your bad feedbacks.

Great experience!!

Everything went smoothly; honestly it couldn't have gone any better!! (even the sun was shining on the day I moved from London to Enfield :) The driver Mack09 (AnyVan User Name) proved to be punctual, patient, helpful, honest, professional and well-mannered all the way through. That made my whole experience of moving - usually dreaded - so much more pleasant. I cannot recommend this driver enough. Many thanks, Filomena.

Terrible service.

Anyvan uses contract drivers - if you get a driver called Katjizeu please do not use them! Our experience was terrible, we were only trying to get 10 chairs delivered, we experienced rudeness, the driver did not deliver the chair covers and on contacting him admitted he still had them but made no attempt to return them. Watch out!! Anyvan & eBay purchases.

Posted a job on Anyvan..to collect a chest of drawers purchased on eBay and delivery to my home. Anyvan cost was £57 which seemed OK and was paid in advance. But I had to give a 3 DAY WINDOW. That was fine with me as I work from home. When posting the job on Anyvan I clearly included in the message for the driver to contact the person at the collection address ASAP..he didn't. He contacted them at 8.00pm to advise he would collect the next day at 4.00pm which they couldn't agree to. Contacted Anyvan who say no refund. I might accept paying a cancellation fee. In my case there has been no service provided whatever and yet there is a full charge for that. I just can't see why Anyvan should be £57 better off for doing absolutely nothing..

Never EVER again!

Never EVER again! Unreliable and incompetent are two words I would use to describe Anyvan. My booking today was a disaster! Their customer service makes false agreements, they got their call sheet wrong, so the driver was calling the drop-off number about the pick-up timings/details, and even the booking process was stressful and frustrating.

This isn't the first time I've had issues with Anyvan. I used them for a job in August 2017 and it was SO difficult and their were issues with the entire booking and execution. I ended up paying extra and using Addison Lee's service and it ran so smoothly.

The only reason I decided to give them another try was because it was quite a bit cheaper, but NEVER again! I've learned my lesson.

My advice is to pay extra for a more reliable, trustworthy service.
