American Plus Moving and Storage

They contracted out to another company my move. I ended up paying 2000$ more than was discussed on our first conversation. My request for the day I wanted my stuff wasn’t given to the other company and I had to sleep on an air mattress for a week. Every time I would call for an ETA they would say they would call me back or email me and they never did. Additionally they didn’t provide the building information to the sub contracted company and they charged me 600$ more because their truck could not get into my building. I have moved cross country before and honestly this was THE WORST experience. Do not use them!

My partner is a quadriplegic. I am moving all myself. I was quoted 2500$ and then the sales rep died so they cannot go back to tell me what I was originally told... They charged $500 and then refunded it because inventory lied to me. Then, day of moving, it was $4100+. The entire time sales vs. inventory on who was trying to actually "make the money" from me. Then, the actual movers (Not American Plus - they outsource) said my check bounced and its $35 and need pmt or ill be charged $100 then $25 everyday that it's late; YET my bank said my check was never ran. Everything about this company is shady. Even Todd,director of sales who directly texted me but then never returned my call... or how I left voicemails with customer service. Todd even admitted that since Apollo died, he couldn't see what went wrong... AND the shady part is, I can't see the original quota now. As they make new quotes, your file is updated and does not represent what you originally signed! It's SOOO scammy and shady. Shame on you! I've turned into BBB, and will continue to spread my experience. On top of that, we have an attorney who is looking to work my case pro bono out of help for John's injury and our lack of resources. I feel like I told Apollo that and told him WHY I needed genuine help and not to be sold like a sales person. They absolutely lied, and it seems every department is against the other!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4200

After loading my items onto the truck, I was told it took up 431 additional cubic feet (710 total) on the truck. Over the phone the American Plus rep (Phillip) told me if the list of items to be loaded that I provided was correct, the binding estimate fee would lock in my total cost as long as that initial list was correct. At this point the movers had closed locked up the truck and were sitting in the idling vehicle as one crew member demanded payment of half the new balance ($1,900). American Plus customer service and sales personnel didn't answer or respond to my phone calls, voicemails, or emails for 2 weeks. When I finally got someone on the phone (Kat) she confirmed the pricing shouldn't go up if the inventory list matched their list from the original agreement, she said she would request the inventory list from the movers and hurried me off the phone. I spoke with Maria about a week later checking on the status of their request again, and offered to send the copy I had. Maria reviewed the paperwork and confirmed that the inventory did not increase in number, but stated "it is still possible that your items used more space on the truck." She said it might help if I could give her more details about then asked for more details of how much space my items took up on the truck. I responded to her email stating my items and the items already on the truck from another customer took up less than a quarter of the truck. She never responded. Meanwhile, I've had a complaint on the BBB website since the morning after my items were loaded. The company's responses on the BBB claim the binding estimate fee only applies to my rate per cubic foot. My items finally arrived in my new city and when they delivered the items they demanded payment in cash of $1,900 and threw in a threat of additional $1,500 charges. After everything was unloaded I measured and documented the actual space they take up. Rounding up by a fair margin, my items took up roughly 289 cubic feet of space. I emailed the photos and measurements to Maria in customer service, who responded saying items don't always take up all the space in an area and we have to account for the way they were loaded onto the truck, basically stating she thought a charge for 710 cubic feet reasonable. Just so we're clear, for my items (289 cubic feet) to take up 710 cubic feet of space on the truck, the movers would have to load my items onto the truck only to half the height or less.That leaves 421 cubic feet of EMPTY SPACE. I responded to the BBB complaint with the new evidence that there was only about 10 additional cubic feet. They have yet to reply.

My experience with this farce of a company has been nothing short of horrific. They were supposed to arrive to pack for my cross country move on Sept. 16, as I was flying to my new residence the next day. They never showed, and when I contacted them they casually informed me that they rescheduled the move to Saturday the 18th. This caused me to have to purchase new plane tickets and hotel stays. I was connected to, quite possibly, the rudest person I have ever met, who proceeded to harass me until I cried and hung up.

I was told by Joe Gali, repeatedly, that the move would take approximately 5 days. He even broke it down by telling me the drivers drive 400 miles a day, and my move was 2,200 miles. Today is the 5th day. I called the movers for an update and they told me they might be here by Monday the 27th. So now I have to pay for MORE hotel nights. If I factor in the plane tickets and additional hotel costs, I have paid over $2000 extra due to their lies and incompetence. At this point, they will not answer the phone. I wanted to discuss any possible compensation for their horrible service and misrepresentation. But they have become invisible. They are not to be trusted, complete con artists, and I am absolutely baffled by the amount of positive reviews.

DO NOT USE! ZERO STARS!! They underestimated the quote and charged me an ADDITIONAL $1400 dollars on the day of my move. The mover that picked up my stuff said the office always does that, as though it was no big deal. They broke multiple pieces of my furniture and lost one of my boxes. The person who unloaded my belongings sexually harassed me and threatened to charge me $300 dollars to unload my belongings because I refused to perform sexual favors for him! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS COMPANY GETS AWAY WITH THIS!! He STOLE $150 dollars from me and only unloaded my belongings into the lobby of the building when the contract clearly stipulates a door to door move. I filed a complaint with the company and they said was was entitled to $36 in compensation. An absolute joke! This company is fraudulent and needs to be shut down. On top of it all, the company is impossible to get ahold of. They never knew where my items were literally until the day before they arrived and the people who picked up my belongings were a day late with no communication and it pushed my entire move back and costed me hundreds in changed plan fees. Literally the WORST moving experience of my life!

This is a scam company. I had to find a mover quickly to move my 90-year old father from Oregon to Utah and unfortunately I selected these guys. They lied from the start and continued to lie through the entire moving process. It took them 13 WEEKS to deliver my fathers' property, with virtually NO contact or communication during that time period, with the exception of me contacting them. They hired a New Jersey trucking company, AMM Trucking, to make the actual move (American Plus is a BROKER, not an actual MOVER: be sure you understand the difference before hiring anyone!), and AMM was just as bad with communication. The move ended up costing me nearly $2500. more than estimated, plus the nearly $2,000. it cost me in attorney fees to pressure these jerks to deliver my dads' property. Under NO circumstances believe anything these people tell you, they are all corrupt and in this game just to screw people over. My fathers' property was finally delivered and it happened to be in good condition, unlike many of the other reviews of this company I've seen, so I consider myself fortunate with that outcome. Save yourself a huge amount of heartache and STAY AWAY from this company at all costs!!

Do NOT use this broker. I did for my move from NC to AZ. First, the movers were 2 days late. Then I was charged more than the estimate. They contracted with Inch Perfect. Inch perfect stored my things at a warehouse in NJ, and apparentlyhas not paid the warehouse rent. However I have paid inch perfect for storage. I have tried to get in contact with my representative at American Plus Moving and Customer Storage, but have only successfully reached him once. The manager is conveniently "out" and has not returned my calls, despite the fact I stated it was urgent. I now have until the end of the week to get my belongings or they will be auctioned. Stay far away from this company, or your things may be held hostage as well

Do you feel that moving is not stressful enough and want to add another layer of headaches? Are you feeling too confident lately? Maybe things are just going a little too good for you, and you want to bring yourself down a notch. Well, this moving company is perfect for you!

Bottom line, save your time. Their own website says (you can look this up yourself, seriously) "whatever price we tell you will not change, come whatever may", but this is far from the case, as in the end we ended up paying a couple grand more than the original quote. And it does not matter how many times sales reps guarantee this for you, or guarantee timelines or anything, because they just fall back on "well the contract, even though it says the exact opposite of what we tell you, says we have XYZ rights." The sales reps are pushy, overbearing, and then absent as soon as they get your deposit.

Seriously, eff this company, I can't believe it's even legal what they do. Check any legitimate review sites, and once you are done sifting through the obvious fake reviews, you will find trove upon trove of horror stories exactly like mine. Save yourself the time, money, and headache, moving is difficult enough without predatory companies trying to take advantage of you.

When our stuff did finally arrive much later than quoted, most of it was damaged in some way. You spend your life buying and taking care of things, but within 1 month, this company just disregards all of that. I mean, how to lose a huge desk??? Things were straight up just missing out of our boxes. Most boxes that had glass were smashed. My vinyl records were ruined. Art supplies ruined.

Oh yeah, did I mention the company they hooked us up with had a "stop order" issued on it in the middle of our move? They either are lazy in their due diligence in who they work with, or they knowingly placed us with a company with equally as terrible reviews as American Plus. I am pretty sure I could throw a dart at the white pages and find a better moving company than the one we got.

Pretty much anyone we spoke with (when we could even get a hold of any body) was rude, unprofessional, or acting like you're the bad guy because all of your worldly possessions are in their hands and you aren't sure if you'll ever receive them. My guess is that they get yelled at every day because their poor service and business model is so terrible, that they've just become jaded.

My only hope is that someone sees this and thinks twice before being exploited, because this is exactly what this company will do. They'll quote you a price, and then when the movers show (probably some schlubby movers they booked off craigslist in a rented truck that will double the price before even loading a single thing, and you're in a tight spot because you have to be out of your apartment or house).

Beware - this is not a moving company but a broker.

They arrange our move with AMM Trucking LLC out of New Jersey. They picked up our stuff 3 days late. First available delivery date was June 24, 2021 with a deadline of arrival on July 24, 2021. After much stress and waiting around, we finally received our items on October 28, 2021. We will never use a moving company of any kind ever again. Rent a Uhaul and move your stuff yourself to prevent all the headaches. We went through a long 4 months and spent a good deal of money to replace our things. We could not sleep on the floor for 4 months. I do want to note that when the truck did arrive, the driver/movers were extremely polite and were very professional and help us go through the inventory list to make sure we received all of our items. If AMM Trucking LLC would just have been up front with us and told us they are having staff issues or whatever, we would have understood. Instead they lied to us telling us they would be there and not show up over 7 times over 4 months. To this day, we have no explanation on why the delivery was so late. On a positive note, AMM Trucking LLC did not make us pay the balance of $961 on arrival due to missing their deadline. The ratings are all over the place because it depends on who American Plus Moving and Storage arranges to move your items. Please also note, they are not liable for anything. If you have any issues, you will have to take it up with the actual movers who you did not research to begin with. It is luck of the draw.
