Worst. Move. Ever.

I have moved 3 times in 3 years and I am accustomed to professional, fast and capable movers. All My Sons did not disclose to me, first of all, that their guys would show up "sometime after 11am" and I should be content to wait all day for them. When the guys did show up, they were clearly untrained. They were by no means professional movers. They were ploddingly slow. They tore the trim off my dining room table. They very nearly tumbled down the stairs several times. They did not have the proper gear or capability to move my sofa or lazy boy. They WERE warned that I lived in a 3-story home. The move ended up costing more than twice as much as I budgeted because they were untrained and extremely slow. And to top it off, they had attitude and were rude. Now I have to hire CAPABLE movers just to move my 2 pieces of furniture! NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE THESE MOVERS and I encourage anyone who reads this to stay far, far away from them!

All my sons Las Vegas.

Movers said they required a 200 dollar deposit before the move, which took 4hrs.The rate was quoted at $98./Hr.They claim the final charge was $655.00 A 263 Dollar overcharge.I called and e-mailed the merchant. He said that if I wanted to receive those funds from the overcharge. I needed to sign a waiver releiving ALL MY SONS of any responsibity and only then would he send me a check for fifty dollars.. Capital one called me about the charge. However they said it needed to be settled with the merchant. Its obviously a scam.Do not patronize All my sons Las vegas..

Damaged and lost items.

They lost many boxes of our stuff. Furniture was damaged and many collectables and expensive items disappeared. This was the Fort Myers branch. It was a horrible experience. They are mismanaged and I wouldn't use them if my life depended on it. The guy who sells the job is nice and knowledgable, but from there on evething goes downhill. They didn't even know that they were to move us on the scheduled day. Horrible experience.

Dont use this company or you will be sorry.

Was orig told would take 2 hrs to move at cost of $400, so I told them to come at 11am. The guy who showed up was nice enough except he would never listen to my direction & items got broken. I was going to a seperate storage place & they loaded the locker all wrong which then forced me to acquire a 2nd locker which in all the move ended up costing me $2700, 12 hrs and I still have broken items. I tried to work w/them directly & was told to buzz off, went thru BBB & got no where. DONT USE THIS COMPANY.

Bait & Switch.

I will start with saying that I was happy with the movers and the move. The original quote was also good. However, during the unloading Montgomery called to say that an adjustment to the cost was due All My Sons. The moving time was taking longer than he first quoted, and it was in the contract that a 10% extra charge would apply. I can understand quotes sometimes needing to be adjusted, but his attitude was horrifying and threatening. He said that the truck would be locked and until the additional money was paid we wouldn't get our items. So I paid.
This company is not to be trusted.

Damage.

Very disappointed in the damage that was caused to some of our items. For example, damage was done to my bicycle's chain guard. It appeared that based upon the damage, the movers did not secure the bicycle well enough to ensure other items would not dent the chain guard. When we informed the movers (on site before they left), one of the movers told us he believed it was there before they handled it, which it was not (the bicycle is from 2006, was hardly ridden and well cared for because of it's sentimental value). Due to the company's policy of the customer paying the first $250.00 on any claim, I doubt they will be covering any of the cost of repairing it (if it is repairable). I have not heard back as of yet regarding the claim so cannot comment on how it was handled.
Because of the detail on the chain guard, I doubt it will be able to be completely repaired back to decent condition. I will likely have to take it to a body shop to attempt to repair the damage caused by a local move.
Bottom line: Was very disappointed by the seemingly lack of care taken to ensure important items are not damaged.

Absolutely the worst.

We had the unpleasant and unforgettable experience of using All My Sons to move in July of 2009. The move was estimated to be a 3 hour move for a one bedroom apartment and 2 movers would be sent to move us. They made special note to tell us that our items would be wrapped carefully with padding and would be taken care of.

Our time was rescheduled the day before, but that wasn't a big problem. What was surprising is that 3 people showed up. I had high hopes that we would get things done very quickly and I would be happy with the service. Our move began smoothly enough, but it seemed to be taking a lot longer than estimated. That's when I noticed that only one person was actually doing anything. To be fair, the driver was only supposed to be there as a driver, but he was occasionally helping. One of the movers was often sitting on the steps of the truck, not helping at all. The third guy was visibly trying to pick up the slack. That's when the first bad thing happened. Our solid wood dresser, being loaded by just the one guy, slipped on the loading dock and cracked the dresser. The driver went on to say (about the guy not working): "If I had known he worked like that, I never would have brought him".

Three hours later, we were finally loaded. I was relieved when the driver said there was second crew that was going to meet us at the destination to unload to try to make things easier. The bad news is that the apartment freight elevator stops at 7PM. The company at least had the decency to store our items overnight at no charge.

The next morning came around, and the same driver came back out with a new guy. Our promised two people had dropped to just one. The bright news was that the driver let us know we weren't going to be charged for that days work.. until the company called and charged us for that days work.

After the unloading, we had two bookcases that were destroyed, the afore mentioned dresser cracked, scuffs on appliances and a chair with the back broken off of it.

I sent this entire story on to the manager at the company and never received a response. I finally went to AmEx and disputed most of the amount to what I felt was a fair arrangement. In the end, they wanted to charge us $991 for 9.75 hours of work for a 3 hour job.

This is not the company you want moving your things. They are unprofessional, inept, sent inadequate help, provide unrealistic estimates and charge you after saying they won't. In short, never, ever, ever, use this company.

Not my best move.

The actual movers were pleasant, customer service was awful. There were hidden fees, the actual quote that I was given was different after they moved my belongings, there was a two hour minimum that was not told to me, after I paid my deposit then they wanted to tax on extra fees. I was moving into my first house it was suppose to be a joyful experience, All My Sons really disappointed me, my quote was $89.99 my move ended up being $243.70 minus my deposit.

Do Not Use All my Sons!!

Wow, where do I begin. Internet calls them a top-rated moving company? Not by a long shot. We moved previously with Allied Van Lines, and they were excellent, All My Sons does not even come close to competing with the quality of their service, and we payed the same amount!! They were late and unprofessional, we payed for the full packing service, and the packing was so poorly done, it looked like it had been done by a bunch of 12-year-olds. For example, light bulbs packed at the bottom of a box, candles placed in a box without being wrapped so they were dented and scratched, plates broken, toys stuffed into a box too small so the top was smashed down, our mattresses were not properly wrapped so they were badly scuffed up and dirty..I could go on and on. It was pathetic. When it came time to unload, there were only two workers, so it took all day, they did not set up our beds and other furniture like I was told they would. There are also some rails missing that we need for my dresser with mirror, so now we are unable to put that back together. There were a couple of small bookshelves that were completely smashed and destroyed. The entire service was done so carelessly, I wonder how this company stays in business at all. Very disappointing to have a service so poorly done and pay as much as we did..they did not discount us hardly at all, even though they knew about all the damaged items, and the follow-up was non-existent. I had to keep calling myself to take care of the claims process. I would certainly never use them again, nor do I recommend them.

Move From Hell.

I was moving my grandmother from an apartment at senior living to another apartment on the same campus and then take remaining items to a nearby storage unit. Movers were late (supposed to arrive at 9:00 a.m.). I didn't get home until 2200 and move had not been completed. Move dragged on and on. I kept trying to speed the guys up because we had time limits and I even helped by moving stuff closer to the door. We finally had finished moving stuff in her apartment and were off to storage unit. I got to unit probably by 9:00 p.m. and waited and waited and waited. They finally rolled in at almost 10:00 p.m. staying they couldn't read the address on the form and had to return to get address from my mother. Then before unloading truck they wanted me to pay. However they didn't have a phone so they wanted to use mine, which had died. So we drove to nearby gas station while they tried to call company. No luck so I said let's just go to my house which is nearby. They called in, but at this point the storage place was closed so we couldn't return. They took stuff back with them and stored in their place and could not deliver until the following week. My brother was due to come up that weekend to get some stuff so he had to go to moving company's unit, about an hour away. I was not impressed with the way they moved some of the furniture, holding by the feet, etc. Movers complained to me about poor treatment by company. It was a very long, hellish day for me and my grandmother. I would never use this company again. Also, one item was damaged (cedar chest), although they did pay for repair. Whenever I see their moving truck I get flashbacks to the move from hell.

Never Showed Up.

I just needed to move some items into a POD on my driveway. I agreed to a 3 hour minimum (@ $100 per hour). They informed me that one hour would be spent driving to and from my address. I was scheduled for 12PM to 3PM. They never showed up! No call, No nothing. I repeatedly tried to contact them (both Justin who confirmed the move the day before and their corporate number). No luck. I left a voice mail for Justin and got caught in an endless loop on their corporate line. Around 7:30PM I get a call that they are on their way. I already moved the items myself in the meantime. Sweaty and tired, I told them to forget it at that point. Do not trust these guys. Their folksy image is just that, an image made of fluff. Looks like I saved myself $300. All My Sons, you get nothing!

Inept packers.

The two packers came by and immediately told us that all our household items could not possibly fit in the largest U-Haul and largest trailer we rented. They ranted about how much larger their truck was. I told them we had more items in a storage unit and they said to forget trying to get those in. They proceeded to pack all the boxes we had (very nicely though) and then started with the furniture. I protested that by using all the boxes there was nothing to fill in the holes (I used to pack trucks for a living). An argument ensued. They packers were dismissed. We unpacked some of the boxes, put in the furniture, filled in the boxes, got the items from the storage unit and packed all those. Only 1 love seat did not make the trip and nothing was damaged.

Not a good moving company!

Horrible company with horrible customer service. I called to get a quote and schedule a move and the representative was quite courteous and seems knowledgeable about the services being offered. I scheduled the service for the next day and provided payment information for deposit. The estimated amount was $450 for the move. However, I was contacted a couple of hours later and a manager stated that the representative provided inaccurate information and the correct price would be between $1500 -$3000 which is absurd. They also took it upon themselves to cancel the appointment stating that they didn't think I would be ready by the next day. If you're packing and moving me, what do I need to be ready for? The lack of professionalism was unreal. However, after reading the reviews from others, it was a blessing that I didn't go with this company. They are not business professionals, they are a group of brothers who are trying to make pocket change, not real money. Real customer service result in real profit and allows you to expand your business. The customer service shows that this is the kind of business that will continue to receive only enough to keep them up and running.

Misleading on so many levels.

Misleading about charges. Disorganized? We called to inquire about having a piano moved. One mile, they said it would be an hour. They failed to mention the 2 hour minimum charge and one hour for travel. What was expected to be less than $200 ended up being more than $400. They also gave us a working window time from noon-3pm, then called us at 10am because they wanted to finish their work day early. We were not available, so we had to wait a day only to be poked. Ridiculous. .

Damage/lost household goods.

Several issues with this move 1. I was given a verbal estimate only and overcharged significantly at time of delivery. 2. Missing household items 3. Damage to several pieces of furniture. Most of it ended up going to the dump due to amount of damage. 4. Mattresses not covered therefore covered in dirt in grease. Had to be thrown out. 5. Boxed including wardrobe boxes and rubbermaid totes crushed with items damaged inside.  6. Delivery of other people's household items. 7. Lastly, driver showed up without paperwork. I was not provided a copy of bill of ladding and several of my items were not tagged. Worst moving experience ever. I will certaintly never use this company again. Very unprofessional service from start to finish.

Crooks - took my money and seized my property.

All my Sons tried to overcharge me by billing me for 6 hours instead of 3.  When I tried to argue about the bill amount, they left with my household goods and the $550 I had given them (not including a $100 nonfundable deposit) and stated I would be charged a storage fee for every day the held my property.  They have my money and my property and so far, I have not been able to get help from any government agency to get my property and a partial refund.  Do not use these guys!  RUN!  All MY Sons are thugs that seem to be extorting people with no impunity!

Movers were great- Final Cost Excessive.

The movers insisted on wrapping in blankets even $5 items and did not remove them causing an $800 additional fee. I moved a 3-bedroom home only 10 miles to a storage facility and my invoice was in excess of $2,500. Company led me to believe majority of expense would be based on hourly labor charges and never gave me a pre-estimate of total charges, what I later learned was a violation of state statutes. Labor was 4.5 hours, but many additional charges were added. Movers were courteous and did a good job though if you are willing to pay out your nose and be ripped off.

Hidden fees exhorbitant.

GOOD: After my first exploratory call for a local (10 minutes away, to storage unit) move (partial household, office furniture and big workshop tools), the sales force was relentless in making me feel special, calling me every other day so they could schedule their “best crew” just for me, and promising to be with me “every step of the way”.

The 3-man crew showed up on time and performed satisfactorily, though it was an awkward situation when they started talking about their tips before they even started working. This crew worked hard, took reasonable care, used runners on the floor, acted responsibly and conscientiously, and was polite. I have no complaints about the crew’s work.

BAD: Once I gave All My Sons Moving & Storage the $100 deposit, I didn’t hear from them again. They said they would call me two or three days before the move to work out details; but I had to call them one day before. If I hadn’t called them less than 24 hours before the moving time, no telling when I would have heard from them.

I was assured in advance that 4 movers would be there, for maximum speed and efficiency. But the morning of the move, Jason at the main office called me to say one of the movers, “a great guy,” had a family emergency and couldn’t make it. At least Jason reduced the labor rate from $179/hr to $159/hr. When the 3 movers arrived, they promptly started grumbling about the 4th guy, who they said partied so hard the night before, and got so drunk, that he didn’t show up for work. The remaining 3 guys grumbled about having to work harder to make up for the missing 4th man; also, I had to take the place of the missing 4th man in moving a couple big pieces.

UGLY: The quote I was given was based around the main cost, the labor rate. It also cited various added costs: 1 hour travel charge, 12% fuel surcharge, $100 extra charge for the gun safe, packing materials charge “based on usage” (unspecified basis). All the specified charges were acceptable to me, leading me to expect $800 - $1,000 total. But when we arrived at the storage unit, the foreman showed me the charge: $1,598, including $610 for packing materials (paper pads, shrink wrap and packing tape). I immediately challenged the packing materials charge as outrageous, so the foreman phoned Jason the manager for me. When I complained to Jason, he kept rambling about how careful they are about using padding, because they are professionals and wanted to protect my furniture. But he never explained why TWO packs of paper pads cost ~$600. After my continued complaints, Jason reduced the packing materials charge by $46, to $564 (for two packs of paper pads, shrink wrap and a few rolls of packing tape). Instead of $800-1,000, the total cost of my move was $1,465 … plus tips for the 3 workers. Now I’m having to spend my personal time writing bad reviews and filing a complaint with the Attorney General’s office.

BOTTOM LINE: I will NOT be a repeat customer of All My Sons Moving & Storage. Ever.

Scam outfit.

I hired all my sons moving from the I-10 location last week. The contract was $333 for a 2 hr move of less than 20 items (dressers, beds, w&d,etc.) to a house 10 minutes away. Final bill, $570.
I called to complain and received rude attitude but a $55 reduction. That's still $515 for the slowest movers ever. On 4 different occasions, I found the movers chatting inside the truck when I could not find them in the house. I did all the prep work, disassembling beds, covering mattresses, making room for furniture. The move was easy, from a one story house to another one story house. What a scam! Move slow so they can justify overcharging the customer.

Long-distance move from Utah to Nevada

Run by the "Family" I.e. The Mafia.

I was promised that all my possessions, including antiques, would be wrapped carefully and packed. All my wood furniture was to be shrink wrapped.
What I got was a crew of temporary helpers, apparently not drug tested. My things were not wrapped as promised and just chucked into the truck. Many things were broken or lost upon unpacking. A treasured china cabinet passed down from my Mother was broken and left me broken hearted. There are items that I cannot find still to this day. Probably stolen or "lost".
After paying more than $5,000 for this move from Utah to Nevada and signing contracts assuring me that I would be reimbursed for anything broken, I called the company and was treated like an idiot and even threatened if I attempted to try and collect for the lost and damaged items. I seriously felt like I was dealing with "The Mob".
This was already a very vulnerable time of my life and was made much worse by this experience. I even tipped the workers generously($50 each) before I saw all the broken, scratched furniture. A girlfriend of one of the workers sat in her car in my driveway, smoking and complaining the whole time the guys were "working".
What a nightmare.

Please. Save Yourself. Don't Use These Scammers.

We had to move out of our small 1 bedroom apartment today, and GOOD LORD THEY'RE EXPENSIVE! Just to move everything out and into storage was $400! I've used cheaper moving companies that have moved a 3 bedroom house, packed everything nice and neat in storage, and it was only $250. Would that be the case here? HAHAHAHA no, no it's not. When we asked then to NEATLY pack the storage, they just threw it in there like it was worthless trash! I'm 100% sure that THEY wouldn't want their precious belongings broken and treated like garbage, now would they? I suggest that you NEVER use them. EVER. Go find cheaper ones. Always read reviews. Oh! Another thing! They almost took of with an expensive painting of mine! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!

Recent move from NJ to CT.

The three men that physically moved my mother were quick, efficient, polite and very accommodating. The day of the move it was excruciatingly hot and humid, but they still did an outstanding job! They are the ones that made the move successful, although a box is still among the missing. My advice for anyone contemplating this company is to ask up front for the contract to review before issuing any deposit. The minimum cost for the move was so unrealistic that I was shocked when the actual invoice was issued at the end; it was more than double! I thought paying by the hour would be better than estimating square footage or weight but I'm beginning to think not. One good thing was we had a dedicated truck and the pick up and delivery were on the same day.

Outrageous sneak up pricing at end of move.

All my Sons Moving in Roswell, Georgia will quote you an approximate price over the phone. The move took twice as long as the company estimated. My one bedroom apartment cost $945.00 to move 10 miles. The company did such things as charge $38.25 for charging the move in the field; $160.00 for $20.00 worth of materials; and increase the time of the mover from 3 hours to 6 hours.

All My Sons Moving El Paso.

In June of last year, I helped my mother and brother move to a new location within El Paso. We hired All My Sons moving company. Although the movers themselves were friendly and hardworking, the company drastically underestimated how long the job would take (seeming almost to ignore a storage shed we had in the backyard) and because of this, the move ran overtime and we were charged accordingly. We finally paid in the early afternoon, they went on their way, and we spent until well after midnight finishing the move ourselves.

Once we were finally settled in, I was disheartened to find that they had badly scuffed my brother’s computer desk and completely snapped an old, hand-carved walking stick of mine that I had brought back from overseas and owned for over 20 years. I was prepared to write these off, however, as every move has some inevitable damages.

We were much more concerned to find that they had damaged a Chinese antique that had been in my mother’s possession for decades and followed her over several continents. Though not completely ruined, there was a sizable chunk taken out of the front of the piece, the remains of which we later found on the floor.

We got in touch with All My Sons to report the damage and to look into being reimbursed. During a phone conversation, we were told that the first step would be to get the piece appraised for its actual value and then its current value with damages. We could then find a second individual to handle the repairs. We followed AMS’s instructions, and when the matter was settled, the final cost, between appraisal, work, repairs and devaluation, was a little over $1300 dollars (about half of that being the devaluation).

We sent this itemized information to AMS, waited around, and eventually received a settlement offer of about $100. The representative pointed out that in the mover’s contract, damages could only be covered at a ratio of less than a dollar per every one hundred pounds of material moved. It’s not at all clear how they knew what the poundage was if they didn’t weigh anything to start with, and more to the point, why tell us to go through the process described above (involving several months’ work and a lot of lost money) if that had nothing to do with the damage payment?

They did not have a response to either of these matters. We were assured that the movers would be informed of the damages and held to a higher standard. We then responded that the movers did a reasonable job and that the damages could be chalked up to human error, but in refusing to cover them, or make any real attempt at customer satisfaction, the company itself seemed to be at fault, far more than a couple of young men stuck in the back of a moving van. We refused the payment on principle, and have nothing to show for our time and trouble. As a result, I would like to share this recommendation:

DO NOT HIRE ALL MY SONS MOVING COMPANY

If you have glossed over everything written above, just listen to that bit. Avoid these people. This is a bad company; not just bad at their jobs but completely unconcerned with the wellbeing of their customers.

Avoid them unless you wish to be in business with a company that has nothing better to do than break your stuff, give you the run-around, take advantage of old ladies, and then try to fob the blame off on their lowest employees, rather than addressing the problem at the highest office as they should.

Moving is never a pleasant experience, but I have never encountered a company so untrustworthy, unhelpful, and so casually destructive as AMS. All My Sons swindled us, and they did so with complete indifference. Nothing much can be done to retroactively change that. I’m sure some clever people will respond that they are completely within their legal rights, which is both true and completely unhelpful. However, if YOU don’t want to be the one receiving such cold comfort for your damaged materials and mementos, why not stay away in the first place? If I can keep even one person or family from meeting the same abysmal treatment that we did, that might go some small way towards making up for this fiasco. You have a choice of movers. Please, choose anybody else.
