Long-distance move from Montgomery, AL to Kensington, MD

5 stars from me.

I hadn’t ever had a positive experience with a moving company until I hired United Nation Van Lines for this move. This was the only time that I was happy in all respects – cost, worker’s attitude, timeliness, speed of work, and response from customer service. That’s a pretty killer combo for any company that wants to make a mark. I wish United Nation Van Lines all the success they deserve because they sure put in the effort to earn it. 5 stars from me and a guaranteed rehire in the future.

Team did wonderful job.

I hired United Nation Van Lines only to move some large furniture from a house that I was selling in Virginia to my parents’ place in Florida. It was relatively few things compared to moving an entire residence of people but was still tedious because some of the furniture had to be dismantled. The movers from United Nation Van Lines knew exactly what to do almost like they were IKEA workmen. The bed frames and wardrobes came to pieces as designed and were neatly stacked up in their van. My parents tell me that the movers did a wonderful job of re-assembling them, too. I am very happy to recommend United Nation Van Lines.

Great quality.

If you haven’t tried United Nation Van Lines yet, this is the perfect time to start. You are virtually guaranteed of complete satisfaction in terms of pricing, moving crew attitude, courtesy, and all-round great customer service. We have used them twice now and can attest that that is exactly what you get from them, regardless of the size of the job. Our first move was a 4-bedroom house move and this one was simply moving some unused things into storage. In both cases, we got great quality and are very happy with their pricing. Third move, here we come!

Appreciation for good move.

We hired United Nation Van Lines for the first time now despite them being on our movers shortlist twice before. After seeing them work and then also seeing the quality of that work, I can say that I regret not having used them sooner. More than anything, they are reliable in terms of punctuality and care for your possessions. That is partly due to their professionalism (knowing how to lift and move heavy items or fragile objects) but it is also dependent on the individual mover’s attitudes-willingness to do the job well even when it’s difficult. The reason that we didn’t hire them the first 2 times was the slightly higher price tag. Now, I know why they are worth it.

Damaged and lost

This company seems very good in the beginning, the movers that picked up my belongings was great but the when it was delivered alot of my stuff was missing and alot of fragile crystal was destroyed, the price in the beginning was different the end price thousands of dollar difference, I am not going to be super negative but this company needs to do better. I am very disappointed with the price I paid and the service I received, I will never use them again.

United Nation Van Lines helped us out of a real mess by fitting us in at the last moment. The lease at our old apartment in New York was expiring and we had to move by a particular date or be forced to cough up an extra month of rent. United Nation Van Lines was the only moving company that shifted their things around to slot us in. It really shows you who you can rely on when things are dicey. I have no plans to move but I am telling everyone I can about their generous move and encouraging people to hire them. Perfect service.

Thanks United Nation

United Nation Van Lines deserves every 5 star rating that they have got in these reviews. This was the fifth time that I have hired them and they have been nothing short of perfect every single time. I don’t think any other company could have pulled off a record feat like that. Take every metric – rates, courtesy, speed, care – and they blow the competition out of the water on every one. I trust them to move my stuff better than I trust myself to do it. I will be using them again.

Long-distance move from Bakersfield, CA to White House, TN

Dishonest company and will overcharge

Here are the facts:

• We moved from a 10x20x9' storage unit (1800 cu. ft. total) that was about 75-80% full (which would equal approx. 1350-1440 cu. ft.).

• We were only quoted for 1141 cu. ft.

• We ended up with about 25 more boxes than I had indicated on our inventory, but other than that, the inventory I gave was EXTREMELY accurate.

• I was told that their Q.A. person, Lisa, would give me a call the day prior to our move to “confirm” our inventory. She never did. I had been told by Roland (salesperson) that I should ‘wait’ to confirm my inventory until the Q.A. person called me!

• Once the movers had packed up the truck at our storage unit, they told us it took up 1700 cu. ft. At $5.30 per cu. ft., that was going to be an additional $3k. My husband watched them pack the whole truck and the first half of the truck they didn’t pack nearly as tightly as WE (the NON-professionals) had packed our storage unit. By the end, they were forced to pack a lot more tightly because they were running out of space on the truck!! (This was on a ‘box’ truck they brought to the storage facility . . . our stuff was later to be loaded onto an 18-wheeler.)

• My husband asked about the discrepancy, but was only told that “there was more than what was on the inventory”. He went ahead and signed the paperwork because he wasn’t sure what else he could do at the time. He assumed we would take it up later with the company.

• I did take it up with the company—later that very day. I sent an email because the office was already closed by that point. I heard nothing back.

• 5 messages and 3 weeks later, Nadine finally called me back. I asked her about the discrepancy and she wouldn’t even let me explain the situation fully without interrupting and arguing with me. She kept claiming that she 'wasn’t there’ and so she had no way of knowing how the truck was packed. She asked me why my husband hadn’t taken any pictures and why he didn’t question the foreman about the job. I told her that he DID question the foreman about the ‘end’ result, but that his answer was inadequate. If we had 25 additional boxes to what was on our inventory (which is what I was eventually told), based on their own estimates, that would have been equal to an additional 75 - 112.5 cu. ft. (depending on whether they were considered "med" or "large" boxes), NOT the additional 559 cu. ft. we were being charged for.

• Nadine told me she would call dispatch to verify. She called me back and said that they “confirmed” that our shipment was 1700 cu. ft. She told me I had to wait until the 18-wheeler arrived with our stuff on it and I could talk to the driver then and he could show me on the truck where our stuff came up to.

• The 18-wheeler arrived and when I talked to the driver, he had NO idea about our dispute. We had to pay the entire amount (for the 1700 cu. ft.) up front before they would even begin unloading our stuff.

• One of the main questions I had at the start was to confirm that United Nation was an actual “moving” company and not simply a “broker” who would sell our job to another transport company. Roland assured me that they had all of their OWN trucks and all of their OWN drivers. This is simply NOT TRUE. The driver who dropped off our stuff told me outright that he did not work for United Nation Van Lines and that he worked for a completely separate transport company.

• I took pictures of the entire unloading process and when they were done, the driver showed me that our stuff went up to the 1500 cu. ft. mark on the truck. (The space I was charged for also included a HUGE pile of UNUSED moving blankets! Why were we being charged for the space that those took up!?) I took all of that information & sent it (& the pictures) to Nadine, as she had asked.

• Nadine didn’t care. Her response was this: “I did explain to you why Dispatch advised that there was no comp warranted on this account . . . the decision was made by dispatch that no comp was warranted on this account.” So, basically, I did exactly what she had told me to do: I waited until the driver showed up with our stuff, I took pictures of the entire process, I asked the driver to show me where our stuff went up to on the truck, he confirmed that it only reached the 1500 cu. ft. mark and it MADE NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. I had CLEAR proof that I was being overcharged and they refused to accept it.

The bottom line is that I was only asking to pay what was FAIR and for the space we ACTUALLY took up on the truck. We chose a professional moving company for the first time ever to try and eliminate some stress for ourselves. I won’t ever make that mistake again. This was the most stressful move I have ever experienced (and we have done quite a few—including moves overseas and back!!). The only reason moving companies like this one get away with this is because they are let off the hook time and time again. It’s not right.

Long-distance move from Fair Haven, VT to Potomac, MD

Not a single item got damaged

There is no doubt that we will hire United Nation Van Lines again for our next move. In our move to Maryland from Vermont, they completed the entire thing ahead of schedule even though we had ended up needing more time and space for packing and loading some things we had not been able to sell. We were charged a bit more than the regular price for that but I guess it was inevitable. Otherwise, their pricing is one of the main reasons we hired them. Other than that, the people are actually nice and it’s easy to get along with them.

Amazing service

I recommend United Nation Van Lines and rate them 5 stars for a perfect move. This was my first experience with a professional moving company and I am really glad it was so simple and smooth. Initially, I was really apprehensive after reading some terrible stories (with other companies). My fears were sort of soothed over by the customer service agents. They described and explained the process very well in layman’s terms. On moving day, they were on time and very hardworking - basically, all work and no play. I had a really easy time since they handled everything so well.

Very happy to recommend them.

5 star rating for a 5 star performance by United Nation Van Lines. I have used huge instantly recognizable moving companies as well as small, two-man operations. I find that United Nation Van Lines gives me the quality service from the first group and the affordable cost of the second. In some respects, they even seem to give better service than big companies while still keeping their prices in the lower range. I hired them to move my studio apartment in NC to a 2-bedroom house in FL. The movers did the job perfectly without needing excessive supervision from me. Very happy to recommend them.

Perfect job, thank you

My move went off better than I could have ever expected, thanks to the great work done by the lovely people who work at United Nation Van Lines. They made every step of the journey a breeze, from breaking down the costs and charges in the initial quote, to helping us prepare for move day, and then doing such a perfect job with the move itself. It really gave us a sense of control over what is really such a messy and unpredictable process. An extra thank you for not causing a single bit of damage to any of our things!

Will recommend them

Finally a move that I did not find to be a nightmare! United Nation Van Lines surprised us with how well they do the job as compared to several other companies that we had hired before. The move did end up costing slightly more for the better service but I didn’t think it would be enough for such a completely different experience. I don’t know if it was a fluke (the reviews seem to suggest it’s not) but they have definitely earned my respect and, more importantly, my trust to the point that United Nation Van Lines will be my first choice for my next move.

No Complaints, good move.

When I first came across United Nation Van Lines when reading reviews for moving companies, I was not sure if they were actually as good as everyone said they were. Now, after having used them myself just once, I can attest that they are probably better. When they give you an initial quote, it is generally more accurate than what other companies do. When they say they are going to finish a job by a certain time, they abide by it. And when they deliver your things, it all arrives safe and sound. Very happy with my hire and recommend them highly.

Awesome Company

My most important criteria for judging a moving company’s performance are reliability, speed and cost, basically in that order. That is why I have been choosing United Nation Van Lines every time for my last 3 house moves. They have never let me down in terms of losing or breaking or scratching my things. They arrive for pickup as scheduled and deliver at the destination within the time they promise. While they are slightly more expensive than the average, I think it’s money well spent for the safe and timely way they complete every move. As always, I would recommend this company.

Happy with my move.

Love to recommend United Nation Van Lines after seeing first hand their excellent service after they were recommended to me by a friend who swears by them after first using them a few years ago. What I found was that the service is punctual, with both the pickup and delivery done within the scheduled windows. Their movers know their job, something that you can tell from the way that they handle big and heavy items. All their equipment and even the vehicle were in good condition. Very importantly for me, the price was just right. I would easily use them again.

Do NOT hire this company

Do NOT hire this company.

United’s sales department (Roland) talked a good talk in terms of stating how it had been rated number 1 in interstate travel and was no longer affiliated with Moving Nation which it evolved from and had a horrible reputation. We did our own research and believed what Roland had said. After numerous negotiations, and the fact that we were moving a very large home from NM to NY, we decided that renting an enitre 18 wheeler was the best option. We discussed with him the fact that the new house was located on a mountain road/slight uphill, and after looking at maps, he assured us that it would not be a problem for the truck as there is a 4 way intersection just up the road and he could turn around there. Hiring the entire truck was also based on a binding not to exceed estimate as we continually voiced our concern that we did not want to get a demand for more monies due before they delivered. Finally, we were assured that there would be foreman and a company crew at loading and unloading. I was told that because we were moving to a smaller community, that they had the option of flying in a crew to assist the foreman and driver.

Approximately 2 weeks before the move, we received an anonymous email stating that the person was a former employee, that the company was still Moving Nation, and not to hire them. I called Roland and was assured it was disgruntled fromer employee. To this day, they have not told me how this person got my email.

The first day of the move the foreman arrived first followed by a crew of local workers with no affiliation with United. The foreman was extremely knowledgeable and we were satisfied with how it was handled. The driver was also not affiliated with United as he was an independent. The foreman asked us for additional monies after everything was loaded into the truck as they had used more packing supplies than estimated. It should be noted that the truck was to load our Honda Goldwing yet did not have the proper ramps and we had to leave it in NM to incur another shipping cost this spring.

After the driver left with our entire household, we were contacted by Tina with United who

stated that we may have to pay for the goods to be offloaded into a smaller truck as it was

unlikely that the truck could make it up the hill. We voiced our concern, told her about what Roland had said about the truck having no issue and her response was that he should not have said that. In addiiton, she said the company would contact us if they deemed we should get a rebate as they could not load the trike and would have to incur another transport fee.

We left for NY approximately 4 days after the truck. After spending two nights in another state to visit family, we were able to make it to NY in an RV well before the truck arrived. The

unaffiliated driver told us that he had stopped at home (another state) and got stuck in weather we never encountered.

Once in town, the driver (Victor) stated that he could not make it up our hill even in the summer

weather and the goods were going to have to be offloaded at a substantial increase in cost to us. This was about the time that Roland decided to stop taking our phone calls. Tina actually had the audacity to tell me we should have known that tractor trailers could not back up.

Further, there was NO foreman on the delivery end and no people to help the driver. We had to contact personal friends to have them come to help offload the goods ! Once our goods were offloaded we immediatly noticed that numerous items had been damaged. We did not make a claim as it would not be worth our time at this point. In addition, we never received a follow up from United to determine our opinion of the move. Horrible company that should not be in business.

These guys are the best movers.

I had no choice but to hire movers because of an injury and I am just happy that it happened to be United Nation Van Lines. They did a much better job than I ever could have on my own. In each of my previous moves, I have ended up with small scratches and dents on furniture and appliances. After this experience, I think the blood sweat and tears are just not worth it. Paying professionals may seem like an unnecessary expense but I would say it’s good value. United Nation Van Lines helped move my studio apartment in Virginia to a house in Colorado.

Good work, great people.

It was a joy to hire United Nation Van Lines again. They have assisted me and several of my friends and colleagues move all over the US and even abroad. This move was just me, without the family, moving from Texas to California to take up a temporary teaching position at college. There was reasonably little stuff since I get a furnished place so most of it was just books and clothes, etc. Still, United Nation Van Lines did as good a job as they always do and had it all delivered on time.

Shameful behavior

My parents are seniors, and my father is wheelchair bound. They arranged a cross country move through United Nation Van Lines. On load up day, only one guy showed up to move all their furniture and boxes onto the truck. He said that the other movers’ vehicle broke down so he would do it by himself. He did a review of the items to be moved and said that the cubic foot estimate appeared to be correct.

As he began moving things, he was throwing boxes into the truck, including those labeled “fragile” and “china.” When my mother expressed her concern, he told her, “If you don’t want breakage, don’t move.” She was understandably upset. I called the customer service line to voice the concern. Apparently, the company texted the mover, because he became furious and yelled at my mother, “How dare you complain about me! I am the professional mover here. I am a supervisor.”

Then, lo and behold, suddenly the mover claimed that my parents’ belongings were 1,000 cubic foot over the estimate and that there would be an additional charge. He told my parents, “If you don’t want to pay it, I’ll leave your stuff right here in the street.”

The mover's behavior was shameful. Do not use this provider.

Moving Experience.

Premium service for (a bit) less than premium cost. United Nation Van Lines is not a big brand name and that is why they don’t charge those absurd prices. However, they are not a budget option, either. Basically, you get what you pay for. In this case, we paid for a well-established company with a solid reputation and that’s exactly what they provided. You can forget about sudden tedious price changes and holding your boxes to ransom approach common to the scummy bottom feeders of the industry. You will be treated with respect and all your things will be delivered safe and sound.

Professionalism and quality, good move.

After shelling out for no-brand movers a few times to save money but only getting scammed and robbed in the process, I decided to try a ‘real’ company. All I can say is, What a Difference! There really is a stark contrast between two guys and a truck and a company that runs its operations professionally and with accountability. The first thing that impressed me was how on-the-ball the sales manager was, being informative but not pushy. On the day of the move, the truck arrived as scheduled and completed the loading in time. Same with delivery. 5 out of 5.

I would definitely hire United Nation Van Lines again.

I eventually made the choice to hire United Nation Van Lines after a few weeks of deliberating. They are an excellent company but the factor that was holding me back was that they are more expensive than many of the other companies that I was looking at. The thing that pushed me to hire them was their office manager who explained that while others may seem cheaper, they usually add on hidden charges to inflate the final cost while United Nation Van Lines does not. (I’ve found that out the hard way) As promised, the quote matched what I was charged so I’m happy.

My personal experience

My parents have moved all over the States and the only moving company they have used for years is United Nation Van Lines. This time, when I had to move, it was only natural that I chose them because I have seen how good a job they do with my parents’ moves. They came through just as reliably. I have unpacked and cannot find a single thing that is broken or damaged. The men who handled the move were a pleasure to interact with, friendly and hardworking. It is 5 stars from me and a solid ‘recommended’ rating as well.

Horrendous

It was a horrendous experience..The original quote was increased by 5k.All of my makeup and personal items are missing along with glasses, mugs, knives, pantryitwms, luggage and a jewelry box and other jewelry is missing from a locked armoire. Every lampshade is damaged, a desk is damaged, broken glass, and damaged and missing miscellaneous items. Customer Service, Nadine, has not returned the 4 calls I have made. This was a corporate move and the company that paid part of the move is aware of the situation along with several Consumer Agencies..local and federal. I would never recommend this company. I am livid and not willing to just let it go. No one has returned calls or emails, including the Sr Relocation Coordinator, Connor, who sold us on this company. I will not let this go. This company needs to held accountable for the missing and damaged item..in addition to their fraudulent practices.
