Long-distance move from Tampa, FL to Hohenwald, TN

Lying thiefs.

Moved from Seattle to Tennessee they brokered moving our belongings to other movers who were basically day labors who didn't give a sh$# about our stuff they were 3 days late for pickup and 2 weeks late delivering wouldn't answer my calls or emails and they said they were sorry about all this and would take $500 off the $9000 I paid at the end but when I went to pay final bill I ask about the $500 for all the trouble and nobody knew anything and held my stuff hostage till I paid everything! Stay away from this company!! We had a lot of missing and broke stuff when I ask the driver he told me sh@# happens good luck. Screw this company!!

Long-distance move from Norfolk, VA to Vero Beach, FL

Recent move with united movers.

When my father observed that our family business would fetch more profits in Montgomery than we ever achieved in Virginia, we knew it was time to move. My job was to search for a good mover and I landed on the National Moving Group from my searches online. We contacted them and they promised to do all the work for us. We were living in a two family full furnished apartment and we were worried we might not be able to move everything expediently. The manager at Nation Moving Group gave us plenty of reassurance and a friendly quote. After smooth preliminary planning, the crew arrived with all the right tools and embarked on the task right away. There was a lot to be done, but there were no complaints from the crew. They treated all members of my family with respect and by the end of the move - we all expressed our graditude for their professionalism and affordability.

Long-distance move from California to Florida

Made a bad situation good.

I had to leave Cali because rent was just too high in my hometown. Leaving California was one thing I never thought I'd do. My mom lives in Florida and she said I could live with her. She recommended the company that moved her down here which was this one. I told them my mom moved with them a few years ago and gave me a repeat customer discount. I didn't have much stuff so the estimate was over the phone. They told me a price and it was cheaper than driving a uhaul. I had to go with them and they did everything they said they would.

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Boca Raton, FL

So thankful for united movers group.

I recently moved from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Boca Raton Florida. My mother had already made the move down here and used united movers group and was thoroughly pleased. I was apprehensive about using a professional moving company as I've heard nothing but horror stories when It comes to these moves, Reluctantly I called United movers group and was so pleasantly surprised with The incredible customer service I received. I know I'm a lot to deal with I called every day to make sure that everything was going to go smoothly. Upon pick up the crew that showed up in a united movers Group truck loaded so carefully and so diligently. And to my surprise the cubic footage was considerably less than what I was quoted. Moving is such a stressful time and life and I am so thankful that United movers group handled everyone of my concerns, answered every single one of my questions, and always stayed in correspondence with me. I will always recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality move at a fair price. They have restored my faith and long-distance moves, and have made this such a hassle free move I will be forever grateful. Thank you so much united movers group for all your help.

Long-distance move from Aurora, CO to Baltimore, MD

Hiring them was a huge mistake.

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with any company, and I wish I was exaggerating.
I was lured in by the mostly good reviews, the low quote, and the ease with which I was able to contact my rep, Eric. Things started going downhill after they received the deposit.
I was told that my things would be picked up from Colorado May 26-27, with 24 hours notice before the exact date. Instead, about 8:15am on May 26, the driver called and said they were on their way, and they arrived a half hour later, while I was still frantically taping shut boxes that I had assumed would be taken the following day.
The quote was based on a "very generous" cubic footage estimate of my furniture, told over the phone. This was wildly under-estimated, and I had to leave behind a bookcase and chair because I had already far exceeded the footage estimate. Luckily the driver abided by the binding contract, and that's the one decent thing that happened.
My things were supposed to be delivered to Maryland on June 2, approximately. I knew it could be a couple days later and was fine with that. I called on June 1 to get an idea of where the driver was so I could plan for taking off work. Turns out my stuff had not even left yet, almost a week after pick-up. We called and emailed literally dozens of times, multiple people, morning to night, over three days just to figure out why my stuff hadn't left. Turns out they never collected the second payment, because they wouldn't answer our multiple calls/emails *trying* to pay them. My rep, Eric, initially gave us a different number in the customer service department to call instead of him, and soon just stopped answering the phone when that number didn't work. We would see that our emails were marked "read" but still ignored. We were put on hold and then hung up on multiple times. If we finally made it through to a person, they wouldn't have any idea what was going on with our account and would tell us to call someone else, or if they were really invested in their jobs, actually transfer us to someone else, who would typically not answer.
We finally got the payment information for a shady-sounding marketing company that a call to their sales department confirmed was, for some reason, the correct company to pay. (However, the salesman was also surprised by this, as he had to ask someone else for me, since it sounded so weird.) For the record, the sales department is (unsurprisingly) the only department that we got good, reliable service from. Luckily, they gave us an alternative to just scan a check and pay the amount in full, which we did, and my stuff finally left.
It arrived 15 days after it was originally picked up. Luckily I had 24 hours notice this time, but the driver was still 1.5 hours late beyond the 4-hr window that he gave. I understood why (movers never showed up to help him at his previous job), but it was just one more thing on top of everything else. (I still tipped the actual movers well both at pickup and delivery, since they were locals and weren't responsible for United Movers Group's total ineptitude.) With that said, I still had to pay an extra $300 for a "shuttle" truck, because apparently the wide, quiet boulevard in front of my apartment couldn't fit the actual moving truck (although it'd fit in my cramped apartment parking lot just fine back in Colorado).
I had brought along enough clothes/essentials with me in case the movers were 3 days late, which was originally my worst-case scenario. Instead, I spent the first week at my new job sleeping on an air mattress, using only the absolute bare essentials I'd brought with me on the plane.
I've included so much detail in this review because I believe I was swayed by fake good reviews, some which said that the bad reviews were the fake ones. I originally thought I was making a better decision, stress- and time-wise, by hiring movers instead of doing everything myself. Instead I spent more money replacing the furniture that they couldn't take, paying for a shuttle truck, paying hundreds of dollars in tips on both ends (something I hadn't thought about), and paying for new clothes, food, dishes, and cookware that I needed and didn't think I'd be without for so long.
My family, friends, and coworkers regularly asked about my move during this whole mess, and are well-versed in how completely incompetent and useless this company is. They're still in business because they make sure to lock you in with a good salesman and a deposit, and I've never been so stunned by the jarring 180 in customer service that happens after they receive that deposit. I can't recommend this company to anyone, simply because I don't hate anyone that much.

Good moving experience!

My move from Pittsburgh to Seattle went very smoothly. James was extremely helpful and patient with all of my questions. The price quoted for a full pack was what I ended up paying. They picked up on the day I expected & it was waiting for me when I arrived. Everything arrived in perfect condition. My experience was good so I would have to recommend United Movers Gr.

Long-distance move from Sacramento, CA to Kansas City, MO

What a pleasant surprise.

I stumbled across United movers group by chance. I had filled out a request for moving quotes online and was bombarded by what felt like 1 million companies talking 1,000,000 miles an hour with no real information about their company. when I finally heard about the ins and outs of the moving industry with my sales representative from United movers group, who spent an hour and a half on the phone with me going over department of transportation information carriers versus brokers Answered every single one of my questions and then got on the phone with my husband and answered every single one of his questions as well. This company was not the cheapest option or the most expensive option, just like my representative explained they are the middle of the moving food chain. They gave me an estimate Of an inventory that I had provided I literally gave them every piece of furniture in my house, as I was instructed to do. I wound up selling several pieces of big furniture, and my estimate went down considerably. As the movers loaded my belongings into the truck they went over any additional questions that I had, showed me exactly how much space I took up on the truck, and explained the delivery process. This was such a pleasant moving experience, I had read so many reviews for so many different companies, talk to other friends who had moved with different companies, and found myself bang my head into a Wall until united movers group called me. Thanks for the seamless move.

Long-distance move from Arlington Heights, IL to Los Angeles, CA

Less than 1 star.

This is a criminal operation. Bait and switch, estimate is 2X the price and they don't show up. Rescheduled and eventually showed up at 10 PM, 7 hours late on the 4th reschedule. I spent over 3 hours on hold to talk to a customer service rep before giving up. I will be taking legal action against this firm. You do not want to do business with this company. Refusing to provide refund for the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced.

Long-distance move from California to Florida

Way better than doing it yourself.

I wanted to do this move as cheap as possible.I didn't think renting a truck or loading a container would be so much money. My sister moved with united and they did the move cheaper than we could have do it ourselves. They came to my apartment did an estimate. They told me they'll pack the fragile stuff we need to do the boxes. I said deal. We took a plane while they drove. They took 10 days which was a day earlier then expected which was fine with me. Thanks a bunch.

Long-distance move from Nebraska to Georgia

Skeptical at first pleasantly surprised.

My friends almost scared me into moving myself but the only ones that could have helped me was my daughter with down syndrome. I couldn't find anywhere that I could get helpers on the other end. I went to the internet and searched cheap movers. I really just wanted help and then I got all these calls from moving companies. United was the only one with a piggyback. They were a little bit more expensive then my lowest bid but they looked really bad online. I didn't trust the whole over the phone thing but I knew I couldn't have had as much space since I measured everything. The day of the move came and I was correct. They over estimated twenty five percent. I barely paid any money on delivery. It was a pleasant surprise.

Bait and Switch.

I had the driver of the truck give me a revised estimate of the cost of my move and, imagine, it doubled! I spoke on the phone with his dispatcher and got nowhere, so I fired them and sent them on their way. I lost my $1300 deposit. We have recourse in CA thru the DOJ and the CA Public Util Comm. Blessed to be moved by these guys.

All my furniture was delivered today. I was so nervous that all my stuff was going to be broken. It happened last time I moved and I had to start all over. I was overwhelmed with hot when me and the driver walked through the house and showed me that none of my things were damamaged. I mean a couple of my things already had so dings in it before the move lol they were still there. I'm satisfied with the overall experience it took a day longer but they still made it here in 8 days. The price was a little bit less than everyone else and the movers were very polite.

Last minute move.

I got so lucky with this company. My job decided to relocate me last minute. I knew I was relocating for weeks but I didn't know when. When they finally told me I had five days before I had to be at work in Florida. I typed in last minute moves on the internet and what do you know a bunch of companies could do the move. I wanted a company I heard of so I went with united. Not only did they pick me up with two days notice they delivered in two days as well. I mean it's not that far but still it was a relief to make my timeline in such short notice.

Long-distance move from Ohio to New York

A move well done.

My uncle was relocating to Ohio and had specific requirements for the mover that would be committed to relocating him. He wanted all his possessions to be packed properly to avoid damage. I found the mover for him after researching different moving companies, online and through print advertisements. After reading reviews and checking the company's background, I kept getting directed back to United Movers Group. Their record was outstanding and they filled all of my requirements. They arrived early the previous day of the move and mapped out their plan. They took special notice of my uncle's work tools, which pleased him immensely. The relocation was seemingly done effortlessly, but that was where the company's expertise shined through. I was rewarded with a wonderful meal and a very happy uncle. Thanks United Movers Group!!

Long-distance move from Destin, FL to Charleston, SC

Avoid This Company at All Cost.

I believe this company is engaging in fraud and extortion by misrepresenting they are a moving van line. They misrepresent the services included in your price and demand additional monies IN CASH to start your move. Once you sign the contract they tell you thatyour "sales person" is not available, do not return phone calls, and ignore any attempt to settle the dispute. Phone logs, voice mail
transcripts, and copied of relevant documents are available.

Falsely represented themselves as a moving COMPANY when they are actually a BROKER. Misrepresented what the Estimate
Price included. Gave only 45 minutes notice of pickup on day NOT scheduled. Attempted to collect additional money in CASH
before pick-up for charges I was told were included in the estimate price. The company misrepresents themselves as CARRIERS
when they are not. They do not own the trucks used for moving. They misrepresent the drivers and sales agents as employees
when they are INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS. They claim services are included in your Estimate and then change the amount
due and payment method on the day they decide to show up. The driver, ** **, related to me by phone this evening the
number of times they have been instructed to collect additional money the customer is not aware of IN CASH and then withhold
delivery claiming additional weight or cubic feet – sometime amounting to thousands of dollars.

Fraud and extortion.

Please don't fall for them. I wish to give them '0' stars !!
I really don't understand how they got BBB ratings !!
We moved from Tennessee to New Jersey . They are a bunch of brokers who are unprofessional . They did not come to pick up on the committed date and came so late that we had no time to move into another mover. They kept telling they would come in every day and came the last day we had to actually move out. The estimated who come into to do the assessment made all kinds of estimations and started with $2800 and finally charged $4200!! He promised initially there is no change in the changes and started loading the stuff and finally hiked the price after the loading was completed. He demanded to sign the document and when we asked the breakup of the calculations he refused to show any and drove our stuff without our consent. We had to call in 911 and complaint. The cops tracked the truck and they came back and now they were too good with us and demanded 1600 to unload our stuff on the pavement. We were stuck with them and had to sign for the hiked price !!
They promised delivery within 7 days and outr stuff arrive after 40'days.

Long-distance move from Ohio to North Carolina

A Nightmare.

I made a terrible mistake by believing the positive reviews I read I saw which I now believe to be PAID Reviews. I should have done better research and have learned my lesson: 1. Look up the DOT # to make sure the company is not a broker which United Movers Group is despite their denial (DOT description proves they don't own any trucks!) 2. Always move based on weight (trucks have to go through a weigh station which goes on the Bill of Lading. Back to my story: All went well except United tried to delay the moving out date by days until we panicked about our closing. The people who packed up the household goods and put them up the truck were fairly good. They only problem was the estimate was way below the actual cost - $2K more. They had estimated square footage based on selling photos of our home and our descriptions and packing of the truck. We knew our good would be in storage for several months and they gave us two free months and then would charge $600/month. After two months, we were told the storage fee was now $960 due to the extra square footage. Unfortunately, due to a medical issue, our furniture stayed in storage for 7 months. When it came time for delivery, we gave over a month notice by email and tried to call. No one answered the phone. In fact, the phone would cut off while I'd be on hold for customer service. This went on until I wrote a "very serious" email. I kept asking for confirmation of our move in date in writing - I never got it. When it came close to our move in date, I tried to call again -- same experience. When I eventually spoke to someone, I was told, "according to the contract, they can deliver the goods 14 days after the date of the move in date." I continued to write emails appealing to their "good will." I got a phone call on a Saturday night at 6pm saying they could deliver the next morning. I said I needed 48 hours notice - especially to get the bank check. They reminded me it had to be a postal order or cash and I could get one at "Walmart." This was for thousands of dollars. I said I could not do that on a week end and refused to do it at Walmart. They finally agreed to deliver on Monday morning. Fortunately, their contracted movers were a good group from Miami, Florida, who did a nice job. But the whole experience was a nightmare. I implore you to use a major moving company with a BBB rating.

Long-distance move from Kirkland, WA to Clarksville, TN

Stay away from this company.

Long story short we recieved a bid of just under $2400.00. They failed to pickup as agreed or even communicate. 4 days later after we placed over 20 calls to their corporate HQ they set yet another pickup date. This time they doubled the original bid but failed to provide anything in writing. They also initiated another electronic check to add to the original deposit. They failed to pickup or communicate then too. After being hung up on at least 6 times a dispatcher told my husband they might be there the next day or they might not. Basically they are selling services they can not or will not provide. They are refusing to return the deposit of over $1500.00 as they say I did not give them 7 days notice of cancellation on a move date they never honored and never attempted to reset from their end. They are refusing to respond at all. How is this not fraud?

Long-distance move from Illinois to Alabama

For your personal safety..

When you have to call the police, well that should tell you something..

Yes, can you believe it? I'd bet my bottom dollar any review posted here that is greater than one star is totally bogus. Even if they contact you with a quote, keep them on the hook and call the police immediately. These people aren't just scam artists, they are literally breaking the law.

These people will give you fake DOT numbers and try to convince you that they are the legitimate United Van Lines, they are NOT! Do not trust any names or addresses they give you, they aren't real. The FL address is bogus - call the police there if you don't believe me.

These aren't people that you want to argue with when they deliver your shipment. Your belongings WILL BE damaged and or missing, do not argue with them, CALL THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY - DO NOT LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE MAKING THE CALL OR THEY WILL DRIVE OFF with everything. Do not get angry or argue, they are scam artists and you are going to lose, they know very well what they are doing.

When dealing with anyone I think to be shady, I always remind myself of what Capone supposedly said about that 'and you're surprised I'm armed.' In no way am I saying that these people are armed, but always remember to be safer than sorry.

When they call you before they make the delivery, CALL THE POLICE so they can be in wait. DO NOT let these people in your home. It is not worth the risk.

If you were extorted by them, file a complaint with the DOT (you can do this on line). Also, contact the police departments at both the origin and end of your move. It doesn't hurt to call the police departments in Illinois and Florida at their addresses they give you, those police departments will know of these bandits. In addition, call 911 when they arrive with the delivery - the police will make an incident report and collect the personal data of the driver and any helpers they may send - this is information your attorney can use. They may make arrests so have your paperwork if you have any to show the police.

Also, you can contact state and local political officials and make complaints by email (mayors, chamber of commerces, council people, governors, local and state prosecuting attorneys, state senators and representatives, national congressmen/women and senators. On these complaints copy as many people as possible since politicians that special notice when many voters are involved.

Whatever else you do contact the US DOT! There is NO time limit on filing a complaint!!

I wish there was some way to connect all of us who are victims together so we could at least find out whether we have each other's belongings. I'm missing about 4 boxes and 2 larger items and have belongings of others as well.

Over and above be careful with any contact with these individuals - this level of threats, dishonesty and deceit may likely turn violent.

If these people want any personal information do not give it to them as you certainly do not want them having your name and address. If they have your address make sure your home is secure from burglars.

As you can tell, my experience has resulted in police, medical bills, and of course attorneys.

best of luck to you.

Long-distance move from Charlotte Hall, MD to Cape Coral, FL

No Stars!! Stay Away From United Mover's Group Inc!!

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! They will RIP YOU OFF!! I was given an ititial estimate by United Movers Group of $3200 to move me from Md to Fla. Later the estimate increased to $6300. Then, on my pickup date, June 22, the cost increased to almost $10k! The movers initially showed me my "space" on a 26' (?) truck, stating it was my 1700+ cubic feet. When I used their own dimensions, I proved to them that they had only designated 1400 cf. They apologized and moved the marker out giving me my actual amount. Then they stated I didn't have room for all of my stuff and it would cost me another $2-$3k. They made it a POINT to tell me if the boxes and items did not have their numbered labels, they did not go on their truck! After I borrowed $3700 MORE from a friend, they left. They told me that the SAME truck would go directly to Fla with NO transfer to a Semi. After they were gone, I went back into the house and discovered they had left my $1400 bed AND more than 17-5 cf boxes WITH THEIR LABELS, behind!! I have made over 45 phone calls to them, trying to get the date of delivery and an adjustment for all the things left behind BUT LISTED ON THE TRUCK INVENTORY! .. to NO AVAIL. They either never answer the phone, don't return my pleading voicemails, or tell me they will look into it and NEVER call me back! This Thursday, July 6, will make 3 weeks that they have had my items basically held hostage! The contract stated delivery by the 26th of June, but not more than 14 days from pickup. I'm devastated mentally and financially by the fraud and ruthless tactics of this Mover!! I have had to spend thousands of dollars in addition to their almost $10k estimate, just to be able to FUNCTION!! Something must be done against this company. They lie to consumers, ignore consumers, overcharge us, and hold our lifelong possessions hostage and there's nothing we can do about it!! PLEASE Help!! This company should lose its license or be FINED!!

Long-distance move from Ohio to New Jersey

Do Not Use This Company!

I hired United Movers in good faith based on the positive (fake!) reviews online and am very disappointed and out a $735 security deposit that I'll never see again.

I authorized a debit of $735 from my bank account by United Movers Group based on a moving contracted initiated on April 28, 2017 (reference no. U7981482). Sales rep Vanessa (ext. 423) told me that the company was a full service moving company with its own salaried movers and owned moving trucks and emphasized that it did not subcontract out moving jobs and that they were more reliable and professional than brokered moving companies. Vanessa also performed a moving cost estimate of $2,100 based on 518 square feet calculated by their own questionnaire and their company's estimation software.

My June 11, 2017 move with United Movers Group occurred with no communication initiated from them the day before or during to provide a moving time or contact information for my assigned mover. I attempted to contact the company multiple times throughout the day by both phone and email and was unable to reach anyone. Movers finally showed up at 5PM on June 11th in an unmarked moving truck and without any paperwork or identifying information on them to show they were employed by United Movers Group. The main mover, Ozzy, told me after I asked him that he was a subcontractor and that he had only worked for the company by contracted jobs for the last month prior.

Ozzy the subcontracted mover performed a visual walk through of my residence and estimated the moving footage to be 800 square feet instead of the 518 square feet originally quoted. He then called United Movers Group and they re-estimated my cost to be $3,700 instead of the original $2,100 quoted (a 76% increase!!).

Jeremy (ext. 555) from United Movers Group called me and we discussed the situation. Jeremy’s first suggestion to remedy the under-estimate of the increased square footage of the move was for me to leave some of my belongings behind to get closer to original the 518 square foot estimate; I told him that his suggestion was grossly unprofessional and that as a professional moving company I had had confidence in their ability to provide an accurate moving estimate for the square footage of my possessions by the questionnaire and software United Movers Group utilized to provide their moving quotes. Jeremy would assume no responsibility for the extreme increase of the moving quote or for the large margin by which his company incorrectly estimated the square footage of my belongings, so I declined the move and requested a refund of my $735 deposit due to their gross miscalculation of my moving costs and them falsely misrepresenting themselves as a full-service moving company when they were actually a moving broker and then them sending out subcontracted movers to perform my move. Jeremy told me that they would not return my paid deposit but that I could call his boss Walter (ext. 404). I contacted Walter on June 12th but have not been able to reach him and have not yet received a call back from anyone at United Movers Group in regard to this situation.

While I'm out $735---I'm grateful that I DID NOT use this company and experience the loss of my belongings as well as excessive increase of price.

BOTTOM LINE---DO NOT use United Movers Group! They are crooks and grossly unprofessional and do not provide accurate estimate or honestly represent themselves as a moving broker.

Overpromised but over delivered.

I've only moved with the major van lines but last time I used them it was a nightmare because I got brokered out to a very small company who overcharged me for a lot of broken furniture. I decided to go the smaller moving conpany route. I found this company through consumer affairs. They were rated top 3. They were also the least expensive out of the three. We did the estimate over the phone which came way higher then I thought but they said they overestimate and boy did they. I ended up getting money back on delivery. I feel like that's a moving first. I got a check from them because they overestimated me so much. They delivered the exact day they said they were and picked up the exact hour they said they would. Best part is nothing was broken. I was concerned at first but I never thought a move was supppsed to go as good as they said they could.

Long-distance move from California to Florida

Hey Thanks.

Picking a moving company was so stressful I got a bunch of quotes and I didn't know what to do I have no clue about moving dolly move I don't before was a few miles away going across the country was definitely a big difference for me and my family . My representative took my inventory of what I'd be moving I also had an in-home estimate and united movers group was the only company that came up close to the same week and cubic foot for the move. They offered me the full packing service which included treating all of the glass items I have a few China cabinets full of antique China that means a lot to me and my family that has been passed down from older generations. The way they wrapped these items in bubble wrap and packing paper and then put them in dish boxes was amazing I don't even know you could write Chyna this way. The amount of care or respect they handled all my furniture with wrapping and disassembling and reassembling all the furniture on delivery was really good. The movers were all polite and professional I was really skeptical about booking a company without meeting someone first from the company to represent them but after seeing the reviews and the A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau I was more at ease. You know the movers group is definitely going to be my mover for life hopefully I don't have to make one of these long trips again but if I do united will be the company a call thanks a lot united movers group.

The rep over the phone went over all the belonging id be taking on the trip and gave me a binding quote. As well as quoting me for my car. The movers showed up early by a half hour the day of the mov and wrapped the furniture really nice, got me out to MD after packing truck and un packed furniture and put it all bak together.

Long-distance move from Georgia to Maryland

Came in At Clith Timing.

I really needs a last minute company for a last minute divorce, they got her there today now she's not my problem. I didn't want to make sure the belongings got there safe! For the simple fact I paid for them all over the years.. I got 6 quotes online and united movers group had the best reputation plus one of the only ones that are not a broker. And trust me I've seen their new top of the line trucks.. once I seen them on pickup I felt a lot more relieve. The money's are so professional and pack the furniture so good. Thanks united lovers group!!
