Long-distance move from Illinois to Florida

Amazing.

This was not my first long-distance move. I was really really picky when choosing a company. Seeing united movers group DOT page showing that they were mover and own their own trucks really made me feel comfortable. I did have a lot of other extensive research before choosing a company. It's really stressful knowing you're putting your whole life in a truck with someone and trusting them to pick up and deliver as well as are the price they quoted you. I collect a lot of memorabilia of the a lot of the pictures are very fragile. I have a lot of sentimental as well as monetary value so I had them do some special packing with bubble wrap. It was definitely worth the additional money. I would recommend united movers group to all my friends and family or someone looking for an honest company.

Long-distance move from Virginia to California

Thanks guys!!

Id never used a moving company before. They made it really easy for me. I was so stressed out because I was moving from Virginia to California with a infant and teen age son. They showed up as promised and had our stuff loaded in and hour. It truly was painless! I felt like my angels were looking over me and my family. My stuff got there in 3 days, it took my husband and I 5 days to drive there. The next day they delivered my stuff to me and put things where they'd belong. They didn't just put it all in one room and say bye. Thank you so much for your help guys!!

Right On.

The service from start to finish was exceptional. United Movers were on time and courteous not to mention not a single piece of furniture was lost or damaged. I heard a lot of concerning things from other companies which seemed more like scare tactics I'm very grateful I chose United. Nothing changed from what I was told pre pickup to delivery. I will absolutely be using these guys in the future if the opportunity presents itself. Highly recommended.

Long-distance move from Rhode Island to New Mexico

Great service from start to finish.

My wife and I recently had to relocate to a new state due to a job change and I went online to recieve quotes from moving companies. I received numerous phone calls from different companies, and then got a call from Garret with United Movers Group. From our first conversation, he was very thorough in answering all my questions and explaining the process from start to finish. The estimate he provided me was competitive, even though he over estimated the space in case we forgot an item or two. The movers showed up when they said they would and packed all our items with care, and took their time to make sure nothing was damaged. From the sales associate to the moving crew, their level of professionalism from start to finish was top notch. I would reccomend United to any family or friends looking to move and get it done right the first time around.

Long-distance move from Wisconsin to North Carolina

NEVER use this company - STOLEN and DAMAGED items.

Our experience with United Movers Group has been nothing short of a scam. We urge everyone to NEVER use this company. We’ve had an extremely negative experience with this company: their sales technique baits you in until you’re stuck with them and then the company basically goes rogue and completely ignores any calls/requests, nor can you ever track where your items are once they leave your location. The company also has a large chunk of your money at this point. Further, this company “lost” a giant portion of our goods (we believe our items were stolen) and has not provided any assistance in recouping them nor have they reached out for any sort of follow-up. Their business practices are extremely poor and we highly question the legitimacy of this company. DO NOT hire United Movers Group!
We normally don’t write reviews but we feel the need to share this negative experience with as many people we can.
We moved across the country from Wisconsin to North Carolina. After doing plenty of research on moving companies, we decided to hire United Movers Group because of their initial willingness to deliver our items in a timely manner and at our agreed-upon quoted cubic footage rate; additionally we were told that all trucks have GPS tracking on them as well and this was a huge plus for us. According to Marcia, the sales representative we booked with, a truck would be able to deliver our items within four days because they “already have a truck going to North Carolina.” These promises and this quote were the “bait” to United Movers Group’s “bait-and-switch” sales technique.
When our moving truck arrived to pick up our items, the “switch” in their business practices was apparent. Suddenly our quote was WAY off: the truck was now requiring 700 more cubic feet of space than quoted which cost us double our quoted amount and the delivery window increased to at least ten days. Further we learned that the trucks do not in fact have any GPS tracking on them. We were stuck at this point – we’d already paid our down payment with United Movers Group, we’d solidified responsibilities for the sale of our home, we’d already packed up our entire lives to move across the country, and had travel, lodging, and new-home responsibilities to take care of. We felt forced to continue our moving process with this company. We paid the loading portion of our balance in cash on the spot to “magically” again have our items delivered to our new home in four days. This delivery timeframe was confirmed with a three-way phone call between my husband, the driver of the truck Ovin, and United Movers Group’s “dispatch” employee. To be clear, this was an extreme hassle and hit to our finances - we had to pull money from our savings account, and thankfully our bank branch happened to be open at 4:00pm on a Saturday night so we could actually withdraw cash. No one told us at any point during the process that paying by check (one of the payment options) would delay delivery by at least five days while the check cleared; This is why we opted for a cash payment, so we didn’t have to wait an additional five days for delivery. In the end, our items did not arrive in the four-day timeframe, nor the ten-day timeframe, (and some big items didn’t arrive AT ALL) so paying via cash or check didn’t matter.
Once the unmarked truck left our home with our goods in tow, we figured we’d see our items again in a few days, as we figured United Movers Group was a professional moving company. THEY ARE NOT!
When the moving truck didn’t show up on our scheduled delivery date, we attempted to contact United Movers Group to find out where our items were, and after several call attempts and voicemails asking for return calls (that we never received), we finally got a hold of “dispatch,” who said our items were somewhere in Indiana. When we asked again for the GPS tracking information on the truck (How did “dispatch” know where our truck was?), we were told there wasn’t any. We were extremely frustrated because we were feeling lied to and because our family, including two young children, had literally been sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor waiting for our beds and items to arrive. EVERY DAY thereafter we followed-up by attempting to contact United Movers Group and were completely ignored, calls were not returned, and no one from the company EVER called us to advise us on the status of the truck or to check-in or offer any advice or assistance.
Days after our original delivery date passed, we finally got a hold of Walter, who now said our items were in a warehouse in Chicago! We did not know who or what to believe at this point – we didn’t have our items, United Movers Group was uncommunicative and extremely unhelpful and they had thousands of our dollars, and we were getting the runaround about where our items were and when they’d be delivered. No one EVER mentioned the possibility of our items being stored in some warehouse.
Finally, 11 days later, our truck arrived. It was at this point that we were told (by our delivery drivers Casey and Steve, with a completely different company called East Coast Movers) that our items had been loaded and unloaded onto several different trucks over the previous two weeks.
We were baited by being told our items were on their way to North Carolina right away because the truck had two North Carolina deliveries to make. Had we known about any storage warehouse, the lack of GPS tracking, a non-direct drive to our destination, or any switching of trucks, we most definitely would NOT have chosen United Movers Group. All this was in combination with the ridiculously poor to practically non-existent communication and being given the runaround about where our items were or when they were going to be delivered.
The two delivery men unloaded our items and at this point we noticed MANY of our large and valuable items were completely MISSING. This is in addition to the many damaged items that arrived. Items that were NEVER DELIVERED (and are all listed on our inventory sheets and so are contractually-bound to be delivered) include: a king-sized mattress, a mountain bike, a push lawn mower, a child’s train table, 2 garden hose reels with hoses, a child’s Powerwheels ride-on toy, a folding card table, an end table, a child’s sandbox, a hunter’s archery target, a box filled with children’s books for a classroom, a box of kitchen items, and a box of undetermined contents because the handwriting on the inventory sheet is illegible.
We immediately requested claims paperwork from Walter with United Movers Group. Walter was extremely unhelpful, unapologetic, and “didn’t understand the problem” of why we were so upset. A claims form was emailed to my husband from Walter but it had ZERO identifiable information on it – no company name, no phone number, no address, no contact information – NOTHING! This was yet another scam-like maneuver, so my husband demanded a new form with this information on it for legitimacy.
It has been over 30 days since we’ve moved. We still do not have any of our missing items. We have filed claims with United Movers Group and with our homeowner’s insurance company. We have also filed a police report for the theft of our missing items.
We regret hiring United Movers Group and discourage anyone from using them in the future. Our experience has been HORRIBLE. It has been the most frustrating, irresponsible, and untrustworthy experience. We believe this company is operating a scam business.
We chose to provide this review so no one else has to go through the turmoil and headaches we’ve endured using United Movers Group.
*We wanted to give United Movers Group 0/5 stars, but were only allowed to choose 1 star.*
*We had multiple stolen/missing items and many damaged items but could not find where to change the answers to these prompts when filling out the review form.*.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Vancouver, WA

Excellent company!

I have moved several times, due to corporate reasons. I work for as a RN and I will tell you one thing, moving is extremely helpful. I actually had the pleasure of using these guys twice in the past year, yes painful, I know. It started when I put my number in this aggregate source that distributed my number to a hundred of moving companies, which I warn you from past experience most of them are rude and very persistent. Then a gentlemen named Chris S. sent me a text message and thank god he did because I would have over looked his missed call. He said that he had a truck hub in my area just outside of Chicago, which was awesome because its massively convenient. I little hesitant at first, due to providing an over the phone inventory, however, he asked for every little thing like rugs, vacuums, how many pictures, etc. So I gave them a shot. It worked out so well for me. I even had a competitor come out to do a walk through, but United gave me more space for the amount of money they were charging so I gave them a shot.
My move date came, the loaders and supervisor was extremely friendly, english speaking, and treated me extremely well. They loaded my stuff up and showed me exactly where they started and finished.
The next day, I got a call from Cynthia stating my balance has decreased by $1200.00 which I was quite happy because I thought I had to pay the quote, regardless of space. So that was nice.
They gave me the free storage for a couple weeks and moved me right into my home 6 days later. Every went exactly to how they told me. I have absolutely no complaints. I will definitely be using them a 3rd time, if I, unfortunately, have to move again. Thank you United, Chris, and the dispatch team. Kudos.

Long-distance move from California to Washington

Illegal Practices, Horrible Company.

As a military veteran who has moved many many times I can honestly say this moving company is the most dishonest, deceitful and disrespectful company I have ever encountered. My moving rep, Adam quoted me (Binding Estimate) $3350 for an interstate move and was relatively helpful getting me set-up, however only after my household goods were loaded onto the truck did the driver inform me the new total would be close to $9000, nearly TRIPLE the original estimate. A very obvious and illegal "bait & switch" tactic.

Of course my first call was to Adam the move rep, who would not answer any phone calls or emails. After 3 days of nothing I finally spoke with Jeremy in "customer service" who informed me Adam had been fired from the company. Jeremy also reviewed my estimate an admitted that Adam deceitfully and intentionally "low-balled" my needed square footage estimate & subsequent cost estimate in order to gain my business. He stated he would look into the matter and get back to me, but never did.

After 2 weeks of placing phone calls and emails to their customer service department and literally getting yelled at and hung up on by vulgar members of the sales department I was finally able to trick a sales rep into connecting me with the head of "customer service", Walter. I explained the situation to him in full and referenced U.S. Code of Federal Regulation, 49 CFR part 370, stating monetary charges agreed upon by both parties and signed in a Binding Estimate shall not exceed a 15% increase from original agreed upon estimate. Instead of admitting they made a mistake and reasonably negotiating a new fair price, Walter proceeded to berate me and firmly state United Movers Group will not adjust the final costs, nor did he take any responsibility for his employees unprofessional conduct and lack of regard for me as a customer.

I have reported them to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration & will be pursuing legal penalties against them. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. For all intents & purposes this entire operation is a SCAM and openly commits FRAUD. I invite United Movers Group to contact me directly to try and right these wrongs but am sadly certain they will not.

Long-distance move from Columbus, OH to Deltona, FL

Ohio - FL move: Avoid UMG.

I will only include my communication to UMG along with a response from the representative advising of the issue being of internal error committed on their end.

To UMG @: info@unitedmoversgroup.com
Good Afternoon

I am writing this email to communicate a concern that has been brought up in multiple conversations amongst your staff at United Movers Group. In my research the reviews placed per previous consumers were both great and also not so good. With my scenario in moving from Ohio to Florida, I had hoped that the reviews of the good would outweigh those negative since there was plenty of detail provided per the positive along with your sales representative truly inspiring us to make the move with your provided services.

As we made our decision to discontinue services with a previously reserved competitor, and move forward with your company, my family and I had full confidence that all was as transparent as it needed to be and there were little to no questions other than the physical inventory that needed to have been completed on the date of our scheduled pick-up. I lieu of the volume/space taken up in the truck, we continued and understood that a true figure had been reached and agreed to the terms we went forward with the contract and your transportation crew.

In our review of bill of lading and discussion with the crew lead, we were advised to review the contract and come to be aware that the initial date of available date of delivery would be the first possible (not guaranteed) date of delivery. This being the 22nd of May, we have revisited the contract and were clear to understand that the East Coast deliveries would not exceed a 14 (business) day window. In light of additional time required, your contract also claims that additional time may be required in light of inclement weather, or other items outside of the controls of your ability to transport from which we would be made aware in the form of communication from your company.

Our concerns are the below and similar communications have been prepared for the Better Business Bureau, FMCSA, Consumer Affairs platform along with a message board within my place of employment.

1. Delay with no communication nor a probable and/reasonable ETA for delivery
2. Poor Service or Customer assistance.
Representation was either distasteful per the lack of care for personal belongings and disregard for general concern presented at time of call on customers behalf
3. Screening of phone calls
contacting from direct (caller ID provided) was avoided each call made
contact (caller ID blocked) and mainly responded (in most cases disconnected) when requesting management or someone who provide some answers or direction.
4. No information provided as per the delay (root cause) or whereabouts of my belongings

Although there can be extrenuating circumstances leading to a delay in delivery of anyones personal belongings, the company is responsible for maintaining a log and open line of communication with a consumer of which services have been rendered. With no inclement weather nor any provided reasoning behind the previously mentioned 14 Business days per the East Coast delivery time frames, there is nothing stating (nor has been communicated) any reason as to why the items paid for in advance should not already been in my possession.

Although I have gone on to conduct this move in hopes to assist with communicating with the relocation groups within my place of employment (JP Morgan Chase & Co.) I do intend on notifying any/all message boards we have in place to avoid any further business with your firm moving forward. We have much movement on an international (and even more in a domestic level) for relocation of employees for the company.

I am providing a copy of this communication to the Better Business Bureau in hopes to add to the recently placed review against your company back in April of 2017 per the added “Initials Action Plan” you have in place for segments within your contract on changing rates.

I am sending this communication to the Attorney General offices for both Illinois and Florida with your firm current consumer dealings I’ve faced at this time and with the hopes of bringing to light the circumstances many have posted on social media (FB, Twitter, etc…) and other forums in the past with similar business with your firm.

A formal claim will be opened within the next 72 hours (3 Calendar Days) of this communication based on the provisions of the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) as the company/services are bound to abide by. I completely understand and am in compliance with the Customer Responsibilities as stated within the FMCSA provided within the contract details from your firm. I am also aware of the responsibilities which should be met by your company per the Bill of lading we have in our possession along with the FMCSA guidelines advised per the moving company (in this case you). There are 14 points listed per the Bill of Lading, that are to be followed and the below have yet to be met:
*The name, address of any other movers , when known, who is involved in the transportation of my shipment (as each contact made I’ve been provided with “..we’ve dispatched the driver (no name/contact/address) and you will hear back from..” line is then disconnected.
*Non-guaranteed service, there is still no date/period of time provided on ANY communication made that has been made. we’ve been given 14 business (excluding holidays/weekends) days from initial available date (5/22/17), date has come and gone**, 21 business (excluding holidays/weekends) days in the event of any inclement weather (with Communication from your firm to me (or my spouse with contact info provided upon retaining your services in order to assist with avoiding any delays)

**Being kept in the dark as per the whereabouts of my belongings, purposes/reasoning for the delay in deliveries of my belongings and a continued attempt to reach out to your firm (and not vice-versa) I have come to the decisioning of the communication you have just been issued.

If you should care to prevent any further communication being expanded amongst the previously mentioned parties/social boards, please ensure your communication is made to me directly before the end of business day today (6/23/2017) (EOD 5PM EST) @ the provided mobile number listed below as I will be gladly willing to discuss this communication and would care to resolve with lesser need for escalation and additional time loss.

Response from UMG -
We committed an error, internally.. we have you as being delivered, found your items to be in the state of Indiana (as of 6/23/2017) and will have your items to you beyond the 30 window within the contract.

No communication since.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to New York, NY

Warning – do Not Use United Movers Group.

They are the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with and have absolutely no customer service, all the way from their impossible to contact and insincere customer service hotline (which is never answered, and leaves no options to leave a message), to their dishonest dispatch team (Jeremy ext 555) and their fraudulent and deceitful managerial staff (Walter ext 404). ON AT LEAST 3 OCCASIONS MY SCHEDULED MOVE FROM CHICAGO TO NY (Job No U7981439) TIME WAS NOT PERFORMED AND I WAS NEVER EVEN ONCE NOTIFIED BY UNITED MOVERS GROUP THAT IT WOULD NOT OCCUR (as such I was left waiting the whole day at the apartment, missing 3 separate days of work) or when a new time would be scheduled. It reached the stage that on the day my rental agreement terminated and only 5 hours before my flight out interstate (several days after my scheduled move date), I still had not heard back from United Movers Group as to when the removalists would arrive after multiple cancellations. I had to use another moving company at very short notice (the day my lease ended) and United Movers Group refused to refund my deposit. The manager Walter did not even offer an apology for their terrible performance and actually took pride in the fact that they were not going to refund a deposit for services not rendered.

Don’t be fooled by their sales team and the various underhand tricks they employ to get your service such as
- Making baseless criticisms of rival moving companies
- Referring you to their number of miles on the DOT website or their BBB rating

Read the fine print of any contract. THEY CLAIM THEY CAN PICK UP YOUR FURNITURE AT ANY TIME IN A 6 DAY WINDOW WITH NO NOTICE WHATSOEVER, FROM 2 DAYS BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED MOVE, TO 2 DAYS AFTER YOUR RESERVE DAY. THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU NOTICE, DO NOT CARE HOW MANY DAYS OF WORK YOU MISS AND DO NOT APPRECIATE THAT FREIGHT ELEVATORS NEED TO BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE. THEY CLAIM THAT THEY ARE LEGALLY COVERED IF THEY COME AT ANY TIME IN THIS 6 DAY BLOCK (REGARDLESS OF NUMBER OF CANCELLATIONS) AND WILL NOT GIVE YOU PRIOR NOTICE.

BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER USING UNITED MOVERS I SUGGEST YOU JUST TRY TO GET THROUGH TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE OR ASK TO SPEAK TO THEIR DISPATCH OR MANAGERIAL TEAM (RATHER THAN THE SALES TEAM LINE), OR SEND AN EMAIL AND SEE IF YOU GET A RESPONSE, TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE IN FOR.

When I started encountering problems with United Movers I decided to google maps their listed address, which showed what appeared to be a suburban street and residential apartment.

United Movers Group customer service, dispatch team and managers are impossible to contact, provide no communication at all regarding planned moves and never contacted me to inform when a planned move time / date was cancelled. Each time I had to ring United Movers Group to try and chase up what had happened and why a scheduled move had not occurred and when it would be rescheduled.

In more detail, my experience with United Movers Group is as follows (please read as it outlines the utter incompetence and blatant disregard for the customer that charactereises United Movers Group)

- Their sales team (James ext 406) made all these promises regarding the reputation and reliability of United Movers Group, even going so far as to make groundless criticisms and accusations about rival companies in an attempt to secure my business
- However, as soon as I paid the deposit (6 weeks before planned move), I became aware of the huge difference between the accessibility of their sales team and the promises they make in attempting to secure business and the reality of United Movers Group customer service department
- It is impossible to get through to United Movers Group customer service department. I would often ring 10-15 times only to get no response, with no option to leave a message and request a call back. The only way I ever ended up getting put through to United Movers customer service department was when I rang the sales department and complained, so was put through to a representative who inevitably was uninformed and unable to provide me with any useful information. Even doing simple things like trying to inform United Movers of my freight elevator booking was an impossible task
- At least a week prior to my move, I eventually spoke to a customer service representative, informed them clearly that in my apartment complex there is only 1 freight elevator and time slots need to be booked well in advance, and gave them my freight elevator time booking. I also informed them that I would like to bring my move forward and that I could schedule a move as early as Thurs 22nd June. I also mentioned that I would be flying out interstate on Tues 6/27/17 night. They assured me that they had noted all of the information I provided and the move would proceed smoothly as planned
- I did not receive any call from United Movers confirming the exact move time so I finally got through to a representative on Saturday 24th June (my re-scheduled reserve day) and was informed that the move would occur on Sunday 25th June between 11am-2pm.
- I then waited the entire day at my apartment on Sunday 25th June but the driver never came. I never received a call from the driver or any other United Movers Group representative that the move would not occur. I must have rung the company number more than 30 times that day but never got a response as I later found out they have no representatives answering the phones on Sunday despite the fact that United Movers reportedly performs moves on the day. As I was not given the number of the driver, I was completely unware of whether the move would occur or not, whether it was delayed or when it would be re-scheduled.
- The following day, Monday 26th June, it was up to me to chase up United Movers to find out what was going on. As I was informed the move would occur on Sunday, I had patients booked for that morning in my hospital clinic that I had to cancel at short notice. After multiple attempts, I finally got through to the United Movers Group customer service team who initially were extremely unhelpful and unable to provide me with any useful information about when the move would occur. After further complaints stressing the fact that my lease was imminently going to expire and I had a flight booked interstate the following day, I was put through to Jeremy ext 555 in dispatch who assured me that the move would occur Mon26th June evening 6-8pm. I complained that this was likely too late and that if the move did not occur, the same thing would occur where I would be unable to contact customer service and seek clarification as to whether the move would proceed and when it would be re-scheduled. He assured me that I would be contacted and provided me with his extension 555 and told me that I would be contacted by him or the driver if there were any issues. I asked for the driver’s number just in case but they would not provide it. He said he would be working late (till 9pm and could be contacted on ext 555 at any time) and said he would serve as my point contact.
- The manager then called me (Walter ext 404) and assured me that if the move did not occur on Monday 26th June 6-8pm it would occur first thing the following morning Tuesday 27th June 8am. I thus tried at very short notice to book my apartment complex freight elevator. This was at the peak time for moves and the freight elevator was largely booked out. I had to negotiate to have the freight elevator slots re-scheduled for me.
- I then contacted United Movers at around 5pm on Monday 26th June to confirm when the move would occur. There was no response on the customer service line. I rang Jeremy ext 555 (he told me he would be working late and contactable) - but got no response. I left multiple messages for him. I then tried to ring Walter (ext 404) and still had no answer- I left several messages for him as well. I must have called at least 20 times a combination of the customer service line, Jeremy and Walter without a response. I then rang the sales team as they were the only ones answering the phone. I was put on hold for over 10 minutes and then disconnected. When I tried to ring the sales number again I was hung up on.
- Needless to say, the move did not end up proceeding on Monday 26th June.
- My tenant end date was Tuesday 27th June and I was flying out to New York that night
- I then got up early and cancelled my morning clinic on Tuesday 27th June expecting the United Movers to come at 8am that morning as advised by Walter if the move was unable to occur on Monday. Once again, I rang several times in the morning but got no response. The rescheduled (for the third time) move out time of Tuesday 27th June 8am did not occur, and again no-one from the company called me to inform that it was not proceeding.
- By this stage I urgently called United Movers (Walter, Jeremy, customer service) and after multiple attempts finally got put through to customer service. After a long hold, they then told me the move was re-scheduled for 12-2pm on Tuesday 27th June. However, the freight elevator was already booked for that time (United Movers Group has a ridiculous expectation that they can just organise times at no notice and elevators will be available during peak moving season). In fact, the freight elevator was completely booked out for the rest of the day and I was scheduled to end my lease and fly out that night. I pleaded with my apartment complex and they told me that they would move people around and open up a slot from 4-6pm on Tuesday 27th June (mere hours before my flight out).
- I rang United Movers back and informed them that the only slot available for Tuesday 27th June was 4-6pm. The company representative said they were unsure whether they would be able to proceed and would get back to me within 20-30 minutes as to whether I could be accommodated. I stressed to the representative that if I didn’t hear from him in 30 minutes I would presume the move would not be occurring / cancelled and would try and organise a move at very late notice with any other company possible. Needless to say, after over an hour, I still had not received a call from United Movers. I tried to ring back to confirm whether the move would proceed or not and then to cancel the move but got no response and there was no option to even leave a voice message on their customer service line. Given the extraordinary unreliability of United Movers and a complete lack of communication, I had no option but to try and organise a move with another company as I had 3 failed attempted moves with United Movers (all of which were cancelled without any notice given to me, and each of which I then had to call and chase up to reschedule a move, which then got cancelled again), was flying out that evening, and was still awaiting confirmation whether or not they would be able to perform my move that afternoon.
- Thus, at very short notice (< 6 hours), I organised a move with a rival company who were able to fit me in. They gave me the number of the driver so I was able to communicate with them as to exactly when they would arrive. Due to the extremely short notice of my booking, the end cost of my move was significantly greater than quotes I was obtaining when I rang to initially organise my move 5 weeks ago.
- I then get a call from a United Movers driver 20 minutes before my freight elevator booking (3:38pm) saying they were finishing up another job and would be on their way. By this stage the other company had already arrived and started disassembly. I told the United Movers driver that I tried to call them several times earlier that day to confirm the move without answer and then to cancel the move, again without answer.
- In the end, my apartment was cleared mere hours before my flight out, and I had to rush my apartment check out and go straight to the airport.

As you can see from my detailed description above, my experience with United movers has been nothing short of horrific. United Movers customer service and dispatch team are atrocious with a total disregard for basic courtesy. I understand that sometimes things can occur that may mean that a move is delayed or postponed but I at least expect to be notified about it, rather than just left waiting and wondering without any notification and unable to contact anyone from United Movers to see what was occurring. On at least 3 times, moves were cancelled without notice / communication and without United Movers contacting me to re-schedule (I always had to ring to chase up, only then to be re-cancelled again without notice). I had to cancel patient clinics at my hospital on 2 consecutive days because of this lack of notification from United Movers, only for the re-scheduled moves to still not occur. I then had to organise a move at essentially no notice with another company at increased expense. At no stage did United Movers apologise for the extreme inconvenience caused.

I really should have asked United Movers to not only refund my deposit ($955) but also reimburse the extra cost I have incurred as a result of organising a move at very late notice with a different company. However, I wanted to put this terrible experience behind me so I simply requested that my deposit of $955 be refunded. However after several hours wasted trying to get through to customer service then on the phone with various team mambers, I was then put through to the manager Walter again. He stonewalled, accepted no responsibility and made no apology and refused to refund the deposit, gloating that they are not legally obligated to do so. While most mangers try to constructively respond to valid criticisms of their company’s poor performance he seemed to be proud of them, so it is unlikely that there would be any improvement in their future performance.

SO PLEASE, IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE MOVE WITH AN HONEST COMPANY, SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF TIME, ENERGY, WASTED CALLS AND MONEY AND DO NOT USE UNITED MOVERS.

Long-distance move from Arkansas to Florida

They exceeded my expectations.

I have to admit I was very nervous about choosing any moving company to do my move. My brother moved last year and had a company change prices and trucks three different times. He paid a fortune for broken items and I couldn't let that happen to me because I have all antique furniture. I needed to be closer to family I couldn't live by myself anymore. My brother gave me all the info and resources so I wouldn't fall victim to a moving scam. United Movers Group passed all of the tests. They were not the cheapest but I didn't want to go with the cheapest. I did the full packing option so all I had to do was open the door. It turned out I had more boxes than estimated but it wasn't any additional money because I didn't break the space they gave me. I also went for the unpacking service and they were like my tan interior decorators. They exceeded my expectations and brought me closer to my loved ones.

Long-distance move from Hartford, CT to Dallas, TX

The 1 Call For My Relocation I'm Glad I actually took!

I have used professional moving services 4 times within the past 5 years due to my line of work. I always thought I did my homework correctly and thoroughly, but was left disappointed, over charged, and flat out LIED TO each time..in one way or another. So when this last move exceeded my expectations and went smooth, I told my relocation associate, Luke Daniels, that I would write a review, which was the only thing he asked of me when it went just as he explained it would. Honestly, I was preparing myself for the typical nonsense I've experienced in this moving industry with everyone else, but I must say..from explaining each detail of the job to handling my ever changing inventory list and displaying the utmost patience and professionalism, Luke and his team at United did exactly what they said they would. As a business woman, I can't express how much I appreciate that. Considering it was somewhat of a last minute move, they arrived when they said they would, and actually delivered my items 2 days early! (the previous company delivered my stuff, some of which was damaged only 2 and a half WEEKS after when they said they would!!) My time is valuable, and I sincerely thank United for not wasting it, and being straight shooters from the very start. I wish I knew about this company years ago, it would of prevented my stress level from rising and changed my thoughts on this shady industry! But, there are some sincere, good movers out there, and for that, I thank you Luke & United Movers Group! =) From the initial conversation with Luke, to their efficient dispatch team, to the men doing the labor..I can not express how impressed I was with the entire process! I know time is money, but Luke was never too busy to spend the time addressing any issues or questions I had with the utmost patience and honesty. He really explained things to where there were zero surprises from the time I was loaded onto their truck, to the time of delivery. By far the most transparent and professional person I have come across throughout numerous moves I've gone through. I will def. be using your services again when I have my next move (which hopefully won't be for awhile) but I'm glad I now know who to call when the time does come. Thanks again guys!

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to California

Seamless move great service.

I stumbled across united movers group while looking for a company to move me from Philadelphia to California, I was pleasantly surprised when I got in contact with my booking agent who answered every single question imaginable and who took a lot of time to make me feel safe and secure. When the crew showed up they were personable and professional. I had originally planned on this taking all day to load my household belongings it took four hours, and the space that I took up on the truck was much less than what the sales representative quoted me. Upon arrival to California they unloaded the truck and put everything together. I would highly recommend united movers group to any of my friends or family.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Florida

Goood Movers.

This was my first move cross country I thought it was going to be really easy I signed up online to receive quotes and my phone was ringing like I owed everyone in America money. The companies all sounded really good on the phone but after researching some of them like United movers group and for me to do my due diligence I was actually really scared it even made me weary of United movers group. But after seeing the reviews and that they owned and operated their own trucks on the Department of Transportation's website I was very comfortable going with them. The movers came out of the day of the move and I actually brought a few less items on the trip so my price did go down based off of the cubic foot this is so much more hopeful to go off of cubic foot then wait it actually made sense to me. They wrapped up the furniture very nice and the glass doors on my entertainment center when they delivered my furniture they unwrapped it rebuilt the furniture and placed everything and all the boxes in the right rooms for me it was such a help fry the bed back. Thanks a lot you know the movers group.

Long-distance move from Florida to Pennsylvania

Criminal Operation.

I won't even bother even bother explaining the absolute absurdity of my actual move. Long story short, I booked them with a specific delivery date 7 weeks in advance. Told them they could pick up my items whenever (most were in a storage unit) but I needed them delivered by a certain date. They were over a week late delivering my items which meant my parents and I, who came with me to Philadelphia, were sleeping on air mattresses we had to go buy at Walmart.

Anyways, during this whole ordeal, I was charged an extra $545.25 by "mistake". I spoke directly with customer service "manager" Walter on June 14th. He realized the mistake and said I was lucky because they send on checks on the 1st and 15th of each month. Lucky Me, right? WRONG.

As I write this review, I have sent 6-7 emails to their cs@unitedmoversgroup.com account regarding the whereabouts of my check. I have spoken to the accounting dept twice, a customer service rep 8 times and even Walter himself twice.

Worst part, on June 28 I was told by the rep that he actually went to the accounting dept and saw MY CHECK. HE PHYSICALLY SAW MY CHECK THAT WAS TO BE MAILED OUT. Guess what? It was not.

I was told by Walter on July 22 that he sees my check on the desk and assured me that it would be mailed out on August 1st.

Throughout this whole ordeal. I have left over 10 voice mails on Walter's direct line. Numerous emails. and many more voice mails on the general customer service voicemail box. AND LITERALLY HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A SINGLE CALL BACK OR AN EMAIL BACK.

Long-distance move from Indiana to New York

Totally unprofessional, took our deposit and ran away with it. Absurd.

This just happened today, and now I'm sitting here writing this review still wondering how in the world, could any people in the service industry, do something so bad to the customers. If I could give a 0 instead of 1 as my rating, I would do it.

I got in touch with United Movers Group on 8/1/2017, they sounded really excited about the opportunity - answered my calls very fast, got back to me within minutes when they missed the call. After getting my description (number of boxes, types of furniture, etc), they gave me a quote, and mentioned several times that the final bill would only be LOWER than the estimation. Total cost was estimated as $2200 and 35% of it was due as deposit. I paid the deposit, then things started to change - they'd often miss my calls, they never called me back unless I called over and over again.

Yesterday, which was the day before moving day, I had to call them twice to confirm the moving would be today, and the dispatch center told me to wait at home between 9AM to 11AM. I was pretty happy about the time window, since after the moving we'll be heading our way to the new home as well.

Then there comes today, we waited from 9AM to 12PM, there was no one. I was frustrated so I called the manager, and he said "let me check, get back to you very soon". Waited from 12PM to 1PM, had to call again, this time the manager said "I was just talking to the truck driver, and they will be at your home in 1.5 hrs.". Better late than never, we waited till 2:30PM. And no one showed up. Finally at 3:30PM, the truck was here. - NOTE, it's already 4.5 hours LATE than the time they specifically promised (9AM to 11AM).

Those guys came into my house, took a look around and went back to the truck to call the Chicago dispatch center. The dispatch center soon called me saying based on their visual estimation, my $2200 estimate (20 boxes) is no longer the case, they said it would be at least double the price - $4400, and worst case would be $5000 (we have 22 boxes). I was totally stunned, and said I need to discuss it with my wife. The person from the Chicago dispatch center then became impatient: "How much time would you need?" I said 10 to 20 minutes. He started yelling: "We also have other customers after this. We can't wait!" I said: "What? You guys were late for 4.5 hours but we waited all the way. And your manager said the truck will be exclusive to us."

This was the exact moment when I knew they were professional liars - the person said "My manager might said that to you. But hey, was it in the contract you signed? You should have read more carefully about the contract. What we said, if it was not there, then it's not there." I became so frustrated so I asked him: "You are doubling the price you gave me. We waited 4.5 hours for you so isn't it fair to let us at least discuss for 10 minutes whether we'd like to continue with it or not?" AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED? THIS DISPATCH CENTER GUY, HUNG UP MY CALL!

Then those guys in the truck started driving away. I went out quickly and talked to the driver. He told me: "My dispatch center person said you have too many questions. We don't want to do business with you anymore." At this moment, we didn't have much choice. So I called the dispatch center again, but they never picked up the call. I quickly left two voice messages saying we'd like to continue with the moving, even if the price may double. But after the truck stopped there for 2 minutes, they drove away anyway. YES, they came, they left, they drove away with my deposit paid, they drove away with me saying we'd like to continue with the moving.

TL;DR: They change price at any minute. But taking our deposit and running away? First time knowing a company could be so absurd. We'll file our complaint and go with legal ways for sure. Stay away from United Movers Group if you don't want to be ripped off.

Long-distance move from California to New Jersey

Really Pleased!!

I am very Pleased to say I am a customer for life of United Movers Group!! Theze guys rock!! I had only moved one time before it was with what is with mayflower when I called me for for this move I hadn't realized how expensive moving was my previous company I worked for had pay for the move. So I figured I would go with a private company that was in a franchise I did research over the Internet and the DOT say directed me to go to Mum company that had trucks in their moving fleet and not just a brokerage license. After seeing that the department of transportation site for United movers group had over 20 trucks registered to them I felt comfortable knowing they were going to actually perform a move. I spoke with Steve or United and he gave me a detailed quote based off of all the furniture in my home and we did do it over estimation on the box account just to play it safe. I'm very happy with the service and the movers are very professional thank you a lot United.

So are we did then was call the moving company and ask them the things that we could look out for a booking all of this is will they said make sure the company was open multiple years and her trucks. So are we did then was call the moving company and ask them the things that we could look out for a booking all of this is will they said make sure the company was open multiple years and her truck center. We put our "side-by-side United was not the cheapest quote or the most expensive they were right actually in the middle of light seems like a lot better choice with them are very very expensive out of our budget so we figured we give united the shot. Even in bringing some additional items they were very reasonable and right in there binding ballpark quote that they had originally Gave us.. thanks united.
