Long-distance move from Mississippi to Florida

Out of state move.

When considering my options of Upack vs
Uhaul with the car hauler. no doubt Upack best way to go.
The drivers who dropped off empty trailer and driver who delivered my things were excellent . Trailer was dropped off to unload before the specified date which for me was ideal.
I didn't have much shifting and only breakage was actually item packed in my car.
I highly recommend going with Upack.

Local move within Pennsylvania

They overbooked and could not move me.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a company, and I have had some doozies before. Long story short, they let me know that they could not fulfill my order halfway through the day that they were to fulfill it.

The long story:
I contracted 2 Relocubes for memorial day weekend, going from PA to WI. I did this well over a month in advance of this date. I was ecstatic that because of the holiday, I would have from Friday to Tuesday morning to pack the cubes, and they even told me I did not have to be there when they picked it up on Tuesday. We could leave first thing that morning, I had a guaranteed delivery of June 2nd, and I would only be without my stuff for a couple days.
I called either Monday or Tuesday of that week to inquire what time to expect the Relocube delivery on Friday. They said between 11am and 2pm. That was fine, I just let my fiance sign for them while I went on a last lunch with my sister before I moved. I got a call around noon saying they had overbooked and had no relocubes left for the entire weekend.
I was flabbergasted and told them that no, I could not wait another 5+ days for them. I had other deliveries coming on the day I had contracted them to deliver the cubes, and I could not just push off the move. I asked them to call around and find some from other companies or any other dispatch centers within a days driving distance. I was told they had called all possible cube locations and they were currently all in use. And no, they couldn't just grab some other company's cubes/pods.
They offered to give me a trailer for the same price. But the only trailers they had left were 28 foot long, and I just laughed at my luck.. my apartment has a tiny parking lot, and to get to it you had to go up a hill on a single-lane driveway between two buildings. No way was a trailer fitting back there, and after I had them look it up on Google Earth, they realized there was no way that would work. Their solution? Give me a discount, have me go rent a Uhaul, load my stuff, bring it over to their station, unload the Uhaul and load onto their trailer, then proceed as normal. So, wait, the weekend I had already planned around your guaranteed delivery date, the weekend I was going to see family and friends for the last time before I moved halfway across the country, and the weekend of a holiday where so many businesses were going to be closed and unavailable for such a massive rescheduling endeavor, you want me to instead do an additional load-in/unload and contract even more work.. and I had to do that all within the next 5 hours because you are not open on weekends or holidays?
I tried asking for a manager. The manager did not call me as requested. I waited an hour and fifteen minutes before I called and asked again. Finally the manager called me back and essentially said I was out of luck. They could get ONE Relocube to me on Tuesday, but I was not sure all my stuff would fit on one single cube, and we had already planned a travel itinerary based around leaving very early Tuesday morning. All she could say was that she was sorry she was located in Alabama and had no way to even personally help me out.
I ended up having to cancel my entire order and frantically schedule Uhaul boxes, because they were the only company available last minute and on the holiday. Of course, they were none too pleased at last-minute plans, and being the planner that I am, I hated looking like THAT person. Moving is stressful enough, but this company's mistake ruined my entire last weekend in PA and my move.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to California

Smooth Move from Western Mass to Cali April 2016!

I moved from Western Massachusetts to Laguna Beach, California this past April 2016. I have never used a Relo Container to move before. Last time I moved was with ABF and rented 25' on a truck. That was much more expensive then a Relo Container for me this time. I compared them to Pack Rat and POD's. U-Pack had the best price and the most Service Facilities. The Reservation Process/People and the Service Facilities at both ends of the move were prompt and as promised. No "gotcha fees". I needed to use their storage facility an extra month and they only charge $105/mo! This was nice as if you have any trouble finding a place to stay or catch a hiccup in your moving plans you have peace of mind. I shipped just one 8' Relo Cube. I shipped a Queen bedroom Set with two dressers and a night stand. Living Room set with 8' sofa, 6' Loveseat, and large recliner chair. I also sent a entertainment center for a 55" TV, coffee table, and two end tables and it all fit barely! You have to plan well! I had not a single item broken or damaged in my move. I packed well bought a bunch of moving pads, roll of shrink wrap, 2" tape, and "ratcheting straps" (the inside of the Relo Cube lets you ratchet your stuff to the walls) from Harbor Freight for cheap and stuffed that relo cube so nothing would move! Best way to "visualize" if your stuff will make it into a cube is get the actual inside dimensions from their website and mask the area off on your patio. Take some measurements of your furniture and see if it will fit together! I will use them again (if I need to move again) as it was nice to not have to worry about this part of the relo to Cali..all went silky smooth!

Long-distance move from Ohio to California

Excellent.

We are retired military and have always just been "moved". This time, we had to do it ourselves. I was very concerned about packing my belongings. From start to finish, our experience with UPack and ABF moving company was exceptional. Everything happened just as it was supposed to. They were helpful and friendly. They were accommodating, professional and set us at ease. I would definitely highly recommend this company.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Florida

From Colorado to Florida.

Customer service was amazing on both ends of the move. Price was highly competetive with others but included gas, tolls, etc. Made it such an easy choice. Especially paying only for what we used. Took a couple of days longer than we hoped, but not bad. Would definitely use again. Only complaint I'd that we found a lot of rust from the truck in our boxes that had handles.

Long-distance move from Virginia to Massachusetts

Successful move with U-Pack.

My parents were downsizing and offered me some of their unneeded furniture. Five feet of a trailer was cheaper for me than a relo cube or a U-Haul rental truck, plus it gave me flexibility to take as much furniture and boxes as I wanted to. The final cost of the trailer, packing supplies and plane tickets back home for me and my teenage son was less than $1000. A full service moving company wanted $1600 for less furniture than I actually packed. The trailer was delivered and picked up when they said it would on both ends. The trailer was dropped off in Virginia on a Wednesday, we loaded Wednesday and Thursday and it was picked up on Friday. It was delivered in Massachusetts five days later on Wednesday, we unloaded it that day, and it was picked up the next day. We had a desk that we didn't load securely and I was convinced it would fall and break. Much to my surprise, it was delivered just as we loaded it. We had no damaged items. I would highly recommend UPack.

Long-distance move from Florida to Georgia

Reasonable cost and no driving!

We selected U-Pack for our move after looking into truck rental and full service movers. A total of $1800 for a full trailer interstate move was reasonable compared to truck rental and much cheaper than the $10k estimates from full service movers. A very heavy duty ramp made trailer loading as easy as it could be (still a lot of work!). One suggestion - the ramp is made to be non-slip, so smaller casters get caught in it. Be prepared with a couple of 2'x8' pieces of plywood to lay on the ramp for loading items with casters. Every delivery and pick up date was met with no issues and dealing with U-Pack customer service was a perfect experience. Even the drivers were helpful. Having someone pick up the phone and immediately be able to answer questions or change the schedule was great! Everything arrived just as I had packed it.

Long-distance move from California to Kansas

U-Pack Moving.

DO NOT use U-Pack Moving. It was the worst experience. They did not arrive when they stated they would making me lose an entire day. Then when they arrived the truck driver told me there was not a ramp for loading the trailer. They state they do provide one with every trailer but that obviously is not true. Loading a four foot trailer with no ramp is not fun. And when I called to ask for a ramp I was actually told they don't have any and that I need to go find another place in town that has one for rent. Are you kidding me?!?! Another one was not available in the town I was in and so I had to load the trailer with no ramp. Also the bulk heads you are suppose to put in place are not easy to handle and actually put in place like their instructions state.

Long-distance move from Tyler, TX to Carlsbad, CA

Moving promises not kept.

I hired U-Pack for two cube shipping containers from Texas to California.
First the freight company wouldn't go down my country community road like UPack promised they could so I had to rent a UHaul moving truck, pack everything into it and drive it up to the freight company and transfer it to the secure cubes.
I offered me a discount for my troubles (not enough discount though).
While I was on my way up to the freight company (actually while driving there) UPack called me and said that they didn't actually have the cubes available for me.
They said the freight company had 12 feet of the bulkhead of a shipping container (unsecured). Ya..I had no choice. I was leaving to drive to California right after I loaded the freight container.
Again, they said they would give me a discount. And again, not nearly enough for the troubles they put me through.

So, my stuff arrived in California about 5 days later, but I'm thinking it's because the freight company was delivering it. Who knows where it would have ended up if UPack was in charge of the delivery.
When the charge went through my account it was for the amount before the last screw up. They didn't charge me the amount with the discount for having to use the bulkhead of the freight container. They didn't honor their word. They said they would split the difference.
So, I got a discount of $150 for having to use a unsecured bullhead of a semi freight container.
Every time they promised something they couldn't follow through.
I will never use them again! I should of went with PODS!

Company did not live up to expectation.

We used u pack to move from CA to VA. Our experience with them was the by far the worst ever!! The representative are very friendly but the communication between them and the truck companies are horrible!! I was told my furniture would be here on a Tuesday two weeks later I was still waiting!! Although they do have good prices their ability to deliver is not worth the time and price!!

Long-distance move from Oregon to New York

Recent cross-country move.

I can think of no way this move could have been smoother. Everyone I spoke with on the phone or by Email were helpful and precise. I stressed about things that never came to pass; wasted effort since it all went like clockwork.
The moving staffers they arranged for did a great job at both ends and the terminal employees had everything under control. I would use them again and recommend them to friends.

Affordable and on time.

We recently moved form Boston to Cleveland OH.The estimated time was from Jan 30-Feb 2. The trailer was dropped off on time on 25th and pick up on Jan 27th. It was arrived on Cleveland on the Jan 30th. I did called three times to get Cleveland branch to deliver the trailer. Once set on Feb 2nd, driver came on time and was very nice to help out my mover that we hired to move few staff. We did tipped him since he was extremely nice.
Overall considering the price and and quality, we are extremely pleased with the result. yes, I definitely will use them again in case my husband finish 2 years contract we have to move again.
My advise is do not use their recommended moving staff and hire your own from local. This way is cheaper and you can fully control the quality. We supervised whole process of wrapping and loading. Not a single item is chipped or broken. It is a reliable and affordable way to move your home.
Our estimated price was $1,388 based on 15 feet. But we only used 9 feet, they refund us$210 today. Yes, We respect their honest way of doing business.

Long-distance move from Florida to Pennsylvania

What an Easy Way to Move!!

I called for a quote and was pleased with the cost. When I arrived in FL, we cancelled the quote (Big Mistake!!). The, at the last minute, I called back and the Very nice man actually was bale to reinstate it for the next day at the same cost!! We had friend load the cube while the guys waited and off they went for the trip to PA.
So easy and convenient.. Must let you know that the cubes are a lot larger than we thought. We would have brought a lot more belongings with us from FL to PA we knew there was so much room in the small room.
We will definitely use you again and recommend your service to everyone we know. Thanks!!

This is about the most affordable and economical way to move. They did a great job on our move. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. Steve Lawrence, Tom, Bert (driver) in Idaho Falls were all courteous and wonderful.

Local move within New Hampshire

Awesome customer service and most reliable on time delivery.

Let me start by saying that we are so thankful and appreciative of UPack company and awesome service!
We have at first reserved a local business movers to completely move us from NH to TX Jan 29th 2018 a month beforehand to be prepared and all. The company in North Hampton NH is called Preferred Movers that claimed they do weekly long distances from NH to South of USA.. the owner Patrick Briemer and his sales guy Zack come to our 650 square feet apt in Hampton to give us an estimate asnd sign contract if we like his pricing on a Friday morning weeks before the big move date. Seems like they are nice guys and all and reassure us that they often do this long distance move and not to worry. He said he will be able to load the truck on Jan 29th around 7am to 9am and have it delivered and unload to our new home in TX around February 8th. We accepted and we started packing and all. Mind you we call at least 3 weeks ahead to plan this.
Now let's fasforward this to Jan 24th Wednesday before the big moving date Monday Jan 29th pickup. The owner calls me up and tells me that he lost another big shipment that was supposed to go South with our stuff because our load was not very big. He ends up saying as a courtesy call he will still be able to pickup our things on Jan 29th but will only delivered our things around February 19th..thats if he can signup another household to go South with our things!! 3 ling weeks minimum to wait without all our house belongings 2000 miles away. We were furious! He said he will make some calls to a sister company called Ray the Mover in Manchester NH (another lying and no ethic company btw). We are only few days away from the move and we have a bunch of our pets to drive cross country for 27 hours and we won't have our things at least for another 3 weeks!
We are panicking, furious, disappointed and worried. We tried to call him back the next day Thursday Jan 25th, the following day after Friday Jan 26th to no avail the owner Patrick Brieme and his sales guy Zack never answer or call back. Friday all morning I call all different local movers but with no success due to last minute notice no one has availability to move us in three days which would be Monday Jan 29th. We freaked out, I drove to Preferred Movers in North Hampton 10 min away.. and tried to see if the owner was there or Zack his saslesguy. Only to find out that none of those two were there but their secretary. I was upset but remained calm. Told the secretary about the situation and she tells me: that they rarely drive to TX and sometimes have shipements to FL only but don't believe they ever went to TX! After she called Patrick the owner who would ignore our calls few days before our move he chickened out didn't even have the courtesy to speak to me and I was standing there listening to his and her conversation. I canceled our reservation right on the spot and she gave me the excuse that he is having the flu and all but could still pickup our things Monday and ship it out whenever he finds another big load to ship out with our things! Not acceptable, disrespectful, unprofessional, and unreliable business. After she hangs up the secretary had the audacity to offer me her own husbands phone number to help load our things into containers if we were to use UPACK. She tells me to keep this between her and I because her boss Patrick doesn't know that her husband does work on the side..WOW. What kind of local business is this? Its own secretary / employee is trying to get her own husband some side business being her own boss back..NO THANK YOU. I left and went home.
At last we called UPACK. A very nice man picked up and said they would be able to deliver Monday Jan 29th two small Relocubes to us right in front of our apt in NH but we will have to move load ourselves. At this point we needed to be moved out by then so we didn't care my husband and I would do our own move. UPACK texted me and an agent even called us 1 hour before they delivered the Relocubes. We're there on time no hassle placed right where we wanted them. We loaded both Relocubes to their fullest and only had to click a link and called UPACK and set our containers to be picked up two days later Jan 31st and we didn't need to be present as we were leaving for a long road trip that same morning. Our neighbor downstairs texted us few hours later to let us know the cubes were being picked up on time like UPACK promised us. Guess what, the day before our shipment was dropped off the texted us that it will be delivered guaranteed date Monday Feb 5th!! That's awesome. Arrived right on time, nice gentleman came and asked us where we want it to be placed. So it arrived Monday Feb 5th to TX from NH and we unloaded the containers and our cubes were picked up Wednesday Feb 7th without us being present. UPACK WERE OUR SAVIORS. EXCELLENT customer service, RELIABLE, on time. They meant what they said and promised! We will definitely use them again THANK YOU UPACK TEAM.

Long-distance move from Missouri to Florida

Terrible Company to Use to Move.

ABF UPack used Moving Staffers as there company of choice for loading and unloading of household goods.  In Kansas City the employees of Moving Staffers or the company that Moving Staffers contracted to were late and then told me how they were the people to go to for moving and loading.  Upon arrival in Florida, most damages to high end furniture was damaged because of the way it was loaded.  An ample supply of moving pads were provided, and I still have them, and the furniture was still damaged, some beyond repair or use.  The company that Moving Staffers used for unloading at our home in florida came ill prepared and without even a dolly to unload with.  They were not told that there was a safe in the trailer to unload after we repeatedly told everyone involved that there was.  I am not finding my complaint with the unloaders, I am finding fault with those who loaded the trailer in Kansas City and there were four men to start the load.  In florida they hire 2 men to do what 4 did in Kansas City. All in all, ABF and Moving Staffers deny any and all damages because even if it is there fault, in the paperwork that you sign to use them, it istill not there fault because they are a freight company and not a furniture hauler. If they treat an employee that way, I hate to see what they have done to the rest of you. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ABF UPACK I DO NOT RECOMMEND MOVING STAFFERS OR ANYONE THEY HIRE TO MOVE, UNLOAD, OR LOAD YOUR HOUSEHOLD GOODS.

Cheap solution but some broken items.

Everything with upack moving went very smooth drivers where on time, and delivery time frame with relatively quick.  The only problem I hadis some damages to furniture.  I have a broken desk, TV, 3 Mirrors, and a destroyed China cabinet and some other items damaged.  To sum itup, I ended up paying much more because of all the damaged items, andI had to load everything in both locations (obviously I knew that).Cheap is sometimes expensive.

Could hardly have been better.

Aside from being the best option, financially, for our recent move, we couldn't have been happier with our ABF U-pack experience.

Relo Cube perfect for move.

My daughter moved from DC area to Minneapolis. In January. I did NOT want to be on the highway in an ice storm so we decided on Relo Cube from U-pack. It was perfect. She didn't have that much stuff so we were able to fit it all in. It was delivered on time (actually earlier than planned)..we were able to take our time loading it. They picked it up and it was delivered on time. In Minneapolis at her apt there was no driveway where the Cube could be dropped off. You have to get permits for them to be left on the street and the company handled this. Everything was in good shape when the Cube arrived, even some glass-front bookshelves. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to move a small amount. The cost was about the same as renting a truck. The company was very helpful and professional.

Absolute GREAT experience !!

I just returned from helping my daughter move across country from AZ-MA. I used U-PACK'S door to door service as well as the guaranteed delivery option. The communication with the company, their updating of my information on the move, the timeliness of their delivery and pickup of the container both in Tucson and Boston were impeccable !! I might also add they were the least expensive option when compared with other moving companies. ! We packed the 8 foot container tight so there was no movement inside and everything arrived in perfect condition. If I ever have to make a move again, I will definitiely use this company . I recommend 100 % and then some !

Cross Country Move.

Bottom line: UPack did everything they promised.

We moved from Boston MA to Portland OR, using UPack. We went with them because we thought we'd be able to load/unload ourselves and didn't want the hassle of driving a large vehicle across the country.

This was our first move in over 30 years so there was a lot of stuff - probably more then we should have brought with us. The (huge!) trailer was dropped off within the promised 4 hour window and left in our driveway. It took us 5+ days to pack.. thank goodness for the weekend and that they picked up the trailer near the end of the 4 hour pickup window.

We had to store our stuff for almost a month since we hadn't found a home in Portland, but UPack accommodated us for the regular monthly storage rate.

The trailer was dropped off at the new destination within the promised 4 hour window and we were able to unpack it in about 6 hours, hoping that they could take it away the next day (Friday, so the driveway would be clear for the weekend.) We were a little disappointed that they didn't come Friday, but we noticed mid-day Saturday that it was gone.

The three drivers we dealt with were all friendly and helpful. They helped us set up/remove the ramp at both locations. The personnel in the dispatch offices and the call center were also helpful and accommodating.

We did experience some minor damages, but I blame our packing technique for that.

Problems.. The only way to tie stuff down was with the slots in the walls. It was secure enough but not conducive to tying with ropes. Also, the bulkhead they provided to seal our stuff in was very hard to secure; we got it finally, but it was a struggle. Finally, as we looked at houses to buy, we were always aware that a 29' trailer would need to fit somewhere nearby for us to unpack. (not necessarily a problem, but certainly a consideration.)

Overall, this was a smooth and trouble-free move and UPack was an important part of that.
