Long-distance move from California to Kansas

U-Pack Moving.

DO NOT use U-Pack Moving. It was the worst experience. They did not arrive when they stated they would making me lose an entire day. Then when they arrived the truck driver told me there was not a ramp for loading the trailer. They state they do provide one with every trailer but that obviously is not true. Loading a four foot trailer with no ramp is not fun. And when I called to ask for a ramp I was actually told they don't have any and that I need to go find another place in town that has one for rent. Are you kidding me?!?! Another one was not available in the town I was in and so I had to load the trailer with no ramp. Also the bulk heads you are suppose to put in place are not easy to handle and actually put in place like their instructions state.

Long-distance move from Tyler, TX to Carlsbad, CA

Moving promises not kept.

I hired U-Pack for two cube shipping containers from Texas to California.
First the freight company wouldn't go down my country community road like UPack promised they could so I had to rent a UHaul moving truck, pack everything into it and drive it up to the freight company and transfer it to the secure cubes.
I offered me a discount for my troubles (not enough discount though).
While I was on my way up to the freight company (actually while driving there) UPack called me and said that they didn't actually have the cubes available for me.
They said the freight company had 12 feet of the bulkhead of a shipping container (unsecured). Ya..I had no choice. I was leaving to drive to California right after I loaded the freight container.
Again, they said they would give me a discount. And again, not nearly enough for the troubles they put me through.

So, my stuff arrived in California about 5 days later, but I'm thinking it's because the freight company was delivering it. Who knows where it would have ended up if UPack was in charge of the delivery.
When the charge went through my account it was for the amount before the last screw up. They didn't charge me the amount with the discount for having to use the bulkhead of the freight container. They didn't honor their word. They said they would split the difference.
So, I got a discount of $150 for having to use a unsecured bullhead of a semi freight container.
Every time they promised something they couldn't follow through.
I will never use them again! I should of went with PODS!

Company did not live up to expectation.

We used u pack to move from CA to VA. Our experience with them was the by far the worst ever!! The representative are very friendly but the communication between them and the truck companies are horrible!! I was told my furniture would be here on a Tuesday two weeks later I was still waiting!! Although they do have good prices their ability to deliver is not worth the time and price!!

Long-distance move from Oregon to New York

Recent cross-country move.

I can think of no way this move could have been smoother. Everyone I spoke with on the phone or by Email were helpful and precise. I stressed about things that never came to pass; wasted effort since it all went like clockwork.
The moving staffers they arranged for did a great job at both ends and the terminal employees had everything under control. I would use them again and recommend them to friends.

Affordable and on time.

We recently moved form Boston to Cleveland OH.The estimated time was from Jan 30-Feb 2. The trailer was dropped off on time on 25th and pick up on Jan 27th. It was arrived on Cleveland on the Jan 30th. I did called three times to get Cleveland branch to deliver the trailer. Once set on Feb 2nd, driver came on time and was very nice to help out my mover that we hired to move few staff. We did tipped him since he was extremely nice.
Overall considering the price and and quality, we are extremely pleased with the result. yes, I definitely will use them again in case my husband finish 2 years contract we have to move again.
My advise is do not use their recommended moving staff and hire your own from local. This way is cheaper and you can fully control the quality. We supervised whole process of wrapping and loading. Not a single item is chipped or broken. It is a reliable and affordable way to move your home.
Our estimated price was $1,388 based on 15 feet. But we only used 9 feet, they refund us$210 today. Yes, We respect their honest way of doing business.

Long-distance move from Florida to Pennsylvania

What an Easy Way to Move!!

I called for a quote and was pleased with the cost. When I arrived in FL, we cancelled the quote (Big Mistake!!). The, at the last minute, I called back and the Very nice man actually was bale to reinstate it for the next day at the same cost!! We had friend load the cube while the guys waited and off they went for the trip to PA.
So easy and convenient.. Must let you know that the cubes are a lot larger than we thought. We would have brought a lot more belongings with us from FL to PA we knew there was so much room in the small room.
We will definitely use you again and recommend your service to everyone we know. Thanks!!

Smooth Moving/Excellent Staff.

This is about the most affordable and economical way to move. They did a great job on our move. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. Steve Lawrence, Tom, Bert (driver) in Idaho Falls were all courteous and wonderful.
Our move ran smoothly and in a timely manner.
I highly recommend U-pack/ABF to anyone.

Awesome customer service and most reliable on time delivery.

Let me start by saying that we are so thankful and appreciative of UPack company and awesome service!
We have at first reserved a local business movers to completely move us from NH to TX Jan 29th 2018 a month beforehand to be prepared and all. The company in North Hampton NH is called Preferred Movers that claimed they do weekly long distances from NH to South of USA.. the owner Patrick Briemer and his sales guy Zack come to our 650 square feet apt in Hampton to give us an estimate asnd sign contract if we like his pricing on a Friday morning weeks before the big move date. Seems like they are nice guys and all and reassure us that they often do this long distance move and not to worry. He said he will be able to load the truck on Jan 29th around 7am to 9am and have it delivered and unload to our new home in TX around February 8th. We accepted and we started packing and all. Mind you we call at least 3 weeks ahead to plan this.
Now let's fasforward this to Jan 24th Wednesday before the big moving date Monday Jan 29th pickup. The owner calls me up and tells me that he lost another big shipment that was supposed to go South with our stuff because our load was not very big. He ends up saying as a courtesy call he will still be able to pickup our things on Jan 29th but will only delivered our things around February 19th..thats if he can signup another household to go South with our things!! 3 ling weeks minimum to wait without all our house belongings 2000 miles away. We were furious! He said he will make some calls to a sister company called Ray the Mover in Manchester NH (another lying and no ethic company btw). We are only few days away from the move and we have a bunch of our pets to drive cross country for 27 hours and we won't have our things at least for another 3 weeks!
We are panicking, furious, disappointed and worried. We tried to call him back the next day Thursday Jan 25th, the following day after Friday Jan 26th to no avail the owner Patrick Brieme and his sales guy Zack never answer or call back. Friday all morning I call all different local movers but with no success due to last minute notice no one has availability to move us in three days which would be Monday Jan 29th. We freaked out, I drove to Preferred Movers in North Hampton 10 min away.. and tried to see if the owner was there or Zack his saslesguy. Only to find out that none of those two were there but their secretary. I was upset but remained calm. Told the secretary about the situation and she tells me: that they rarely drive to TX and sometimes have shipements to FL only but don't believe they ever went to TX! After she called Patrick the owner who would ignore our calls few days before our move he chickened out didn't even have the courtesy to speak to me and I was standing there listening to his and her conversation. I canceled our reservation right on the spot and she gave me the excuse that he is having the flu and all but could still pickup our things Monday and ship it out whenever he finds another big load to ship out with our things! Not acceptable, disrespectful, unprofessional, and unreliable business. After she hangs up the secretary had the audacity to offer me her own husbands phone number to help load our things into containers if we were to use UPACK. She tells me to keep this between her and I because her boss Patrick doesn't know that her husband does work on the side..WOW. What kind of local business is this? Its own secretary / employee is trying to get her own husband some side business being her own boss back..NO THANK YOU. I left and went home.
At last we called UPACK. A very nice man picked up and said they would be able to deliver Monday Jan 29th two small Relocubes to us right in front of our apt in NH but we will have to move load ourselves. At this point we needed to be moved out by then so we didn't care my husband and I would do our own move. UPACK texted me and an agent even called us 1 hour before they delivered the Relocubes. We're there on time no hassle placed right where we wanted them. We loaded both Relocubes to their fullest and only had to click a link and called UPACK and set our containers to be picked up two days later Jan 31st and we didn't need to be present as we were leaving for a long road trip that same morning. Our neighbor downstairs texted us few hours later to let us know the cubes were being picked up on time like UPACK promised us. Guess what, the day before our shipment was dropped off the texted us that it will be delivered guaranteed date Monday Feb 5th!! That's awesome. Arrived right on time, nice gentleman came and asked us where we want it to be placed. So it arrived Monday Feb 5th to TX from NH and we unloaded the containers and our cubes were picked up Wednesday Feb 7th without us being present. UPACK WERE OUR SAVIORS. EXCELLENT customer service, RELIABLE, on time. They meant what they said and promised! We will definitely use them again THANK YOU UPACK TEAM.

Never again.

TERRIBLE company. I saw so many good reviews that I decided to give it a try, but DO NOT trust them to get your stuff to you anywhere NEAR the estimated time. I’ve had to call every terminal it stopped at just to get them to move my stuff to the next one instead of letting it sit for days. It’s a week past when it was supposed to be here. I’m literally sleeping on the floor. My stuff was stuck at a terminal three hours away for THREE DAYS. Every time they promise it’ll be here the time ends up betting pushed back another twelve hours. There’s apparently no communication between upack and the terminals. It’s total amateur hour. As an “apology” they took a hundred bucks off my bill but a hundred bucks doesn’t get me my bed to sleep on and a week of my time back.

Poor service from start to finish.

Stay far away from this company. Twice they missed their delivery date to the move from location even after repeated calls to the dispatch confirming delivery date and time, got the quantity of containers to deliver wrong, did not pick up the containers on the date promised efen after confirming with dispatch, picked up containers 6 days later, did not deliver to destination location for over 14 days after being told delivery of 3 - 5 days. After all this sent an email to Upack detailing all the issues and requested to be contacted regarding the poor experience and received no follow-up from them. DO NOT USE UPACK - THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER AS I HAVE MOVED MULTIPLE TIMES!!

UPack Trailers.

We moved our home and pole barn out of state using two trailers.
The drivers from each location have been amazingly friendly and helpful. The website has so much information on how to move safely and efficiently and the delivery driver reiterated packing high, tight, and cushioned as things will bounce around. We had very minimal damage and that was our error.
We highly recommend this company!

Long-distance move from Illinois to Arizona

MO to AZ.

Process worked great, and the drivers on both ends were helpful and on time. From start to finish, the whole process was easy and was a cost-effective option. The loading ramp at our starting location was a but damaged by a forklift, but the driver fixed it and demonstrated everything for us. On the receiving end, we had a brand new ramp. The key is that you need to pack things right, and can't leave things loose to bounce around. Of the complaints I've seen, many are about broken items..well, take the blame because you pack it and load it! I recommend getting E-Track cargo nets and straps, or get D-Ring converters that plug in, or else you're going to be out of luck. I also recommend paying close attention to the dimensions of the locks you can use on the cargo divider. It's pretty challenging to find a decent padlock that will fit in the very narrow hole in the divider handles. I used some Brinks brass ones after trial and error on 5+ other locks. Check that out on the info page to make sure you get the right kind. Pick up and drop off was easy, even on military bases, and all went as planned.

Long-distance move from Lancaster, CA to Wolverine, MI

Beyond Mad!!

Horrible. I reserved a trailer 5 months before our move from CA to MI. I called a month before our move to verify because we live rurally and on well maintained dirt roads. I talked to 3 people: Customer Service, Sales and the Los Angeles distribution center. All of them said yes, no problem. One guy even looked us up on Google Earth. Now 2 days before we are set to get a trailer I called to get their drop off time. I was told then that they can’t deliver to us because we live on dirt roads. WTF!! I explained that I was assured they would and they had no record of my previous call. HOW CONVENIENT!! Now we have to jump through hoops to find another moving company last minute so that we can move in 4 days. Thanks U-Pack for making our already stressful move a nightmare. I’ll be sure to share this with others so they avoid you like the plague.

Long-distance move from Albuquerque, NM to Tulsa, OK

The Worst Moving Experience Of My Life!

I was recommended to UPack by a realtor friend who thought she had heard good things about them
I moved my entire home ie antique furniture, pottery, artwork, dishes, clothing etc two states over
When I opened the back end of their truck my entire load of possessions had been tossed in the air and basically ruined
The driver clearly hit something (or went over something large) but failed to report the accident
So although UPack could clearly see the extensive damage (I requested an appraiser) they still refused to take any responsibility or pay for all the damages
I was present the entire time the 24 foot truck was loaded by professionals and know 100% the condition my belongings were in going in
The only way so many items could have been shattered was because the truck was wrecked
I strongly advise everyone NOT to use UPack
They do not stand by their so-called insurance and do not take any responsibility their own drivers
UPack is simply a very very bad company.

Adjusting fees.

My quote was for $1944 after a $50 previous customer discount.  Upack, they ship.  well this is true.  If you use less than the space you were quoted they deduct, if you use more space they add cost.  well I used 2 feet less, which was $160 less.  On the bill of lading where you put the amount of footage used, the driver put 15 ft, somehow by the time it got to california my shipment grew to 17 1/2 feet.  they claim I wrote the 17ft.  No the driver wrote 15ft at pickup, I initialed.  I asked for a copy of the BOL, and what do I see, they crossed out 15 and put 17 as to keep the same delivery price.  bunch of crooks.  Never again.  I rather pay extra for a true moving company than these folks.  All the money I spent, I could have rented a truck and drove it back my self.  OH, and my shipment was picked up on a Wednesday, they said it'll be at the destination on Monday.  Well that Friday after Pick up, the destination terminal called and said Guess What, you've heard about the bad weather they're having, so you shipment wont arrive till Friday.  Well damn, I left Wednesday driving, got home Friday and ran into NO BAD WEATHER.  They excuse was a bunch of BS.

Long-distance move from Texas to Kansas

Smooth Move.

The cubes were not available in Beaumont, Texas, because they didn't have the forklift to service that portion.  Instead I got a 27' trailer with ramp delivered from a super friendly man.  Because I accepted the trailer, the monthly storage at the destination end was the same price as if I had loaded cubes, $300. The advantage of the trailer is you are not limited to several small spaces.  The entire load "melds" together.  And with the ramp, my legs got a terrific workout. When we were ready for the trailer to be delivered to our new house, they promptly delivered, again with a really friendly driver.  He told me to call when it was empty and there were no further charges. The move, $1715, and two months storage, $600, $2315 altogether was extremely reasonable.  This is "do-it-yourself" packing, but full service moving companies demand that you wrap and pack your stuff; they just move it into their trailers.  They want more than twice this amount, and won't allow most anything in your garage. .

Long-distance move from Virginia to Texas

No Issues.

I moved from Virginia to Texas in 1 of their relo cubes.  Upon delivery the driver was unable to manuver his truck into the neighborhood so he had to drive a fork lift with the relocube to my house.  I packed all of my own stuff.  It was mostly boxes, a regular sized bed, two chairs and some other stuff that wouldn't fit in boxes.  I locked it up with the toughest lock I could find.  I ended up having to store it for 2 months ($99/mo).  When I finally moved into a new apartment I was unable to have the relo cube delivered to the apartment because there was no place to put it and couldn't place it in the street.  So I had to hire someone to go to the warehouse where it was stored (outside) and unload it and deliver it to my apartment.  Despite that one inconvenience the process went smoothly.  I mention this so others will consider this when moving, I sure didn't.  The gentleman I spoke to over the phone was always polite, friendly and answered all of my questions.  Upon opening everything look about the way I left it.  Some items had shifted in transport but nothing was wet or damaged.  I'm actually considering to use them again but this time with two relo cubes.  If I do I'll let you know how it goes.

ABF UPACK was great.

We used a Relo-cube to move our stuff. We had it stored for a month while we looked for a place in our new location. We got exactly what we were expecting, which is way more than I can say for other experiences with movers. They dropped off the cube as expected. We loaded it, and they picked it up. On arrival our stuff was in great condition. The pick ups and drop offs were on time and easy. It was a very economical solution, and because we packed it carefully ourselves, nothing was broken.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Washington

So far, NOT so good..

We looked at a LOT of moving options for our relocation to Washington state from Arizona. Essentially, we went with U-Pack because the representative guaranteed us it was the most convienient option and their customer service was "above all the rest!" The phone representative was very nice and helpful so we booked 2 boxes. We were given a window for our boxes to be dropped off from 8am-noon (just like the cable guy, great). My boyfriend and I had to take the entire morning off work to wait for this guy to show up and noon passes, still no word. We contact the company saying our boxes haven't shown up and the CSR casually tells us they're, "busy this morning" and he won't be there until about 1 or so. A call letting us know this in the morning would have been nice. We'll after letting them know I had a doctor's apointment at 1pm we rescheduled the delivery for 2:30-3pm the same day. Now I get to load the boxes alone because my boyfriend has to go into work for the second half of the day. *Hooray* I hurried home so I didn't miss the delivery, also had to take the rest of the day off work, and still NOTHING! It's 3:24pm as I write this and I have just called again to find out the guy is at lunch. GREAT. The response on the phone was much less than helpful and I have officially wasted an entire precious day WAITING! So much for customer service. I plan to update my review after the move and will keep my fingers crossed it gets better from here although it is not looking good so far. As of now I reccomend you check out one of the MANY MANY other companies that offer this service.

Long-distance move from Idaho to Kentucky

Move by ABF.

This move was furniture sent to a college student in Louisville, KY. It cost $1953.00 just as quoted and we provided our own packing materials. Pick up was one day late (on Friday instead of Thursday) due to pick-up and delivery trucks all being in use. Was not charged for the extra day.  Generally the move appeared to be uneventful and nothing was damaged. The people we talked to were friendly and helpful. The only problem was it went much slower than estimated. Nothing happens on weekends (we had 2 weekends instead of 1), and stopping at a major hub for transfer to another truck can cause delays in receiving the cube at your home on the day it arrives. I would use this service again, but would try to plan better and have more flexibility in the number of days required for arrival.

Long-distance move from Washington to Nebraska

Misrepresented Services.

Whatever you do, do not pay this company any extra money. I had planned to do a terminal to terminal move in order to save money. I could afford packing my own uhaul and then driving to their truck and packing their truck. I was given the option to change it to a terminal to door delivery when I arrived in my new city and decided to take that route. Apparently, ABF believes my front door is out in my parking lot. DOOR TO DOOR is NOT a full delivery service, even when the price does equal the same as a full delivery service. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. This company WILL NOT DELIVER ANYTHING TO YOUR ACTUAL HOME OR APARTMENT. YOU WILL STILL NEED TO UNLOAD YOUR THINGS. I guess if I was moving somewhere where I knew a lot of people and could get some help with unloading (which I don't know a lot of people here yet), it could have been a semi-okay experience but instead they wanted to charge me $400 to drive 12.5 miles from their terminal to my apartment and leave their 28 foot trailer in my apartment parking lot (which is not allowed). Was this my fault? I don't think so, I think it's fair to assume that $400 would cover more than just driving a truck 25 miles.

Along with this, there was no one at the terminal when I dropped my things off, so I had to deal with waiting around for someone to show up to sign paperwork. Eventually someone did show up while we were packing, didn't let us know he was there, signed the paperwork and left them on the counter in the office, which had previously been locked. Great customer service.

I still have not received any of my goods, so I have no idea what they're going to look like damage-wise. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they broke everything I own.

A customer service!

I was very pleased with my moving experience. I had done a lot of research prior to my moving and decided to go with ABF-U because I found their rates quite reasonable. Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Alaska

Very happy.

I moved from Pennsylvania to Alaska in July. I scoured the earth for a mover I could trust, and two people I knew who had already relocated up here recommended ABF. I used the freight system, NOT the U-Pack system, so I can't vouch for that, but the trailer arrived on time at my storage facility, was loaded, and showed up early in Alaska. The driver was excellent and the moving company people were really accommodating. I freaked out when it got here because the items shifted and I was charged more than I was quoted, but I was credited back the difference. My belongings arrived in good condition; only a table was damaged.. small price to pay, really. It was a very long trip and ABF was awesome all the way. Everyone involved along the way was excellent. I would absolutely use them again if I ever had to move (I hope I don't!!).

Long-distance move from Utah to Texas

ABF and U-Pack were Excellent.

After getting stood up by Nationwide Moving Services based in Kaufman, TX, ABF stepped in and had a U-Pack trailer to us that very evening. I then hired a local crew to load us the next morning and ABF picked up the trailer for our interstate move to Texas. They did an EXCELLENT job and the move turned out to be very economical this way. Hiring a local crew for a few hours on each end while having ABF do the freight hauling is a very cost-effective way for an interstate move. I highly recommend them.
