Long-distance move from Traverse City, MI to San Diego, CA

PCS? Reconsider this company.

Military PCS: Utterly appalled. I knew we’d be taking a chance by using this company but they managed to stoop well below whatever low standards I had. After dropping off the shipment container (a week early) they called a few days later asking why we didn’t have it packed yet and also threatened to charge us more. The loading RAMP is a complete liability and a disaster. The shipment barriers are rotted out and dented. When we received our shipment in California, (from Michigan), they dropped it off on a curved curb so we couldn’t even place the ramp down. The barriers were bent in half and we were unable to open them, so we had to leave it there overnight. Our things (packed VERY well) were in shambles, as if the driver had been wreckless. Our entire household was damaged, I’ve never been so upset.

Long-distance move from Apalachin, NY to Cheyenne, WY

My move from N.Y. to Wyoming

I was very impressed with U-Pack and ABF, both in NY and in Cheyenne, Wyoming. My only complaint would be prior contact from U-Pack to me before my moving date drop off. But customer service is always a phone call away and very helpful answering any and all of your moving questions, no matter how mundane they may seem to them. My biggest and best advice is to strap your load to help prevent movement during shipping. We drove out the same way our stuff did. Roads aren't so great in places and there are very tight curves on a lot of roads and interstates, especially big city's. Everyone we encountered or spoke to was courteous, pleasant, helpful, professional and just super friendly. They even delivered a day early and were able to pick the trailer up that same evening. We had a lot of help unloading the trailer, and loading. But they give you days to get your stuff out and in should you need it. My brother and sister-in-law used them 9 years ago for the same NY to Wyoming move. They were equally happy. The prices they charge are the cheapest you'll find, I know, I looked and looked. Way way way cheaper then U-Haul or Pods.

You do need to have room to accommodate the trailer, that's the biggest barrier to using them. We had the trailer park half way Down the street from our house in Wyoming, because of parked cars. It was still a breeze. You do need to be able to heft the ramp and bulkheads, or have someone capable of doing so. Thats it, 5 stars out of 5 on every level. Thank you U-Pack ABF Binghamton, N.Y and U-Pack ABF Lincolnway Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Long-distance move from Tampa, FL to Atlanta, GA

Recommended!

Efficient and affordable. Paid for a U-Pack relocube and some professional movers to load/unload and still paid less than I was quoted by other companies. The website is incredibly easy to use and U-Pack kept me updated on the status of my cube at every point. I can't recommend this enough if you're looking for an affordable option for moving long-distance.

Long-distance move from Gainesville, FL to Odessa, TX

Upack

I moved from Florida to Texas with Upack. I was told one relocube would be enough for my one bedroom apartment. When the relocube arrived, I freaked out because it looked small. However, my movers were able to pack everything in. Few items had to be disassembled. If you hire professional movers, packing one bedroom apt into one relocube is not a problem.

My coffee table sustained some damage. I think it was during disassrmbling and not during the drive.Apart from that everything arrived in perfect condition. Upack gave me an estimated date of delivery and delivered precisely during that time period. I could call and arrange the delivery once it reached TX. They were always available on the phone and it was very easy to reach them. No long wait times. The tracking workd accurately. The staff and the drivers were polite and helpful.

The cost was reasonable and there were no hidden costs. What you get in the quote is what you pay. Upack is value for money. My moving experience was pretty smooth thanks to them. Would recommend!

Fantastic service

I recently used UPack for a relo cube to get things from a storage unit in FL to my home in CA. Every single step was flawless. Great customer service from making the reservation, to the guy that delivered the cube, to the pickup location. I had an unfortunate attempt at reserving for less money with a different business but UPack should definitely show them how things should be done. In the end, it was worth the cost due to the reliability. I couldn't be happier with my experience and I would absolutely recommend and use again if needed.

Long-distance move from Tucson, AZ to Columbus, OH

Move From Arizona to Ohio

We moved the contents of a 10’x10’ storage unit from Tucson, AZ to Columbus, OH. The month prior we contacted several brokers and movers and it was a very unpleasant experience. Prices were all higher than what we ultimately paid for U-Pack (granted the others included packing and loading); information was misleading (i.e. some movers were actually brokers); price points were confusing and not firm; reviews were often terrifying, etc. Looked at UHaul, Pods and U-Pack and settled on U-Pack. The experience was as close to perfect as I think you can get in this area. The trailer arrived on time in Tucson, we loaded and secured our stuff, we needed less space then we thought and the price was lowered to reflect this, the trailer was picked up and transported to our new storage unit in Columbus, the shipment arrived in good condition and we unloaded it, the trailer was picked up. Throughout the process the shipment progress was monitored online and we interacted with U-Pack to schedule and confirm dates. Service staff were always helpful and pleasant to work with. This was a very positive experience.

Official company response

Thank you, James, for the kind review. We're so happy you found us and had a good experience. We hope all is well in OH!

Outstanding Customer Service

The employees that we encountered from Jordan M. in Arkansas when we first inquired about U-Pack, to John and Phil and both drivers in Londonderry NH, to Chris and Lynn in Kinston NC were kind, efficient and wonderful to work with to make this long distance move. Our items all arrived in the condition that we packed them in. We also received several inches of snow while the trailer was in our driveway. John at ABF freight in Londonderry NH had the snow removed from the top of the trailer expeditiously so that our time line could stay on schedule. The communication is excellent with U-Pack employees and that removed a great deal of the stress that accompanies any move. The price of our long distance move with U-Pack was half of the other major moving options. We highly recommend U-pack/ABF freight company based on our experience. Thank you to all of the wonderful employees that we had the privilege of working with on our move from NH to NC.

Fantastic Move from CA to TX

I recently moved from California to Texas. I researched every possible way of moving my 1 bedroom apartment, my two cats, varied houseplants, my car and myself to our new home. After reading horror stories about lost and broken items or moving companies who demanded more money before they delivered your belongings, I was pretty concerned.

I found U-Pack and saw wonderful reviews. I'm so so glad I chose them. The customer service reps and the guys who dropped off and picked up the relocation cube were friendly, helpful, and professional. I had to change my plans several times (different dates, switch from part of a big truck to a cube, etc) and they were always very accommodating. When they took the cube away, I felt confident that my belongings were safe and would reach me in Texas. When it arrived, the cube was locked securely, just the way I left it. Things shifted in transit but nothing was broken!! How amazing is that?

I will recommend these folks to EVERYONE I KNOW and will definitely use them when I move again.

Las Vegas to Georgia

I looked around for a couple months and U-Pack was the best solution. Phenomenal rates and the ease of working with their customer service team for questions and delivery times was exceptional. I would definitely recommend having anyone use this service for moving if you don’t mind loading/unloading the trailer yourself. They were also very quick to deliver my furnishings. The customer service in Las Vegas as well as Georgia was top-notch and they were very helpful in answering any questions I had. Definitely recommend!!

Weight Tickets

Driver's were both great, but that was all. UPack said my 3 bedroom house weighed under 3,000 pounds. This was a military move. I moved over 1,000 between 2 cars, so there is no way a full 3 bedroom house with 2 sectionals, clothes, tools, garden equipment, dog crates, king and full bed, 2 dressers, etc weighed under 3,000.

Adjusting fees.

My quote was for $1944 after a $50 previous customer discount.  Upack, they ship.  well this is true.  If you use less than the space you were quoted they deduct, if you use more space they add cost.  well I used 2 feet less, which was $160 less.  On the bill of lading where you put the amount of footage used, the driver put 15 ft, somehow by the time it got to california my shipment grew to 17 1/2 feet.  they claim I wrote the 17ft.  No the driver wrote 15ft at pickup, I initialed.  I asked for a copy of the BOL, and what do I see, they crossed out 15 and put 17 as to keep the same delivery price.  bunch of crooks.  Never again.  I rather pay extra for a true moving company than these folks.  All the money I spent, I could have rented a truck and drove it back my self.  OH, and my shipment was picked up on a Wednesday, they said it'll be at the destination on Monday.  Well that Friday after Pick up, the destination terminal called and said Guess What, you've heard about the bad weather they're having, so you shipment wont arrive till Friday.  Well damn, I left Wednesday driving, got home Friday and ran into NO BAD WEATHER.  They excuse was a bunch of BS.

Long-distance move from Texas to Kansas

Smooth Move.

The cubes were not available in Beaumont, Texas, because they didn't have the forklift to service that portion.  Instead I got a 27' trailer with ramp delivered from a super friendly man.  Because I accepted the trailer, the monthly storage at the destination end was the same price as if I had loaded cubes, $300. The advantage of the trailer is you are not limited to several small spaces.  The entire load "melds" together.  And with the ramp, my legs got a terrific workout. When we were ready for the trailer to be delivered to our new house, they promptly delivered, again with a really friendly driver.  He told me to call when it was empty and there were no further charges. The move, $1715, and two months storage, $600, $2315 altogether was extremely reasonable.  This is "do-it-yourself" packing, but full service moving companies demand that you wrap and pack your stuff; they just move it into their trailers.  They want more than twice this amount, and won't allow most anything in your garage. .

Long-distance move from Virginia to Texas

No Issues.

I moved from Virginia to Texas in 1 of their relo cubes.  Upon delivery the driver was unable to manuver his truck into the neighborhood so he had to drive a fork lift with the relocube to my house.  I packed all of my own stuff.  It was mostly boxes, a regular sized bed, two chairs and some other stuff that wouldn't fit in boxes.  I locked it up with the toughest lock I could find.  I ended up having to store it for 2 months ($99/mo).  When I finally moved into a new apartment I was unable to have the relo cube delivered to the apartment because there was no place to put it and couldn't place it in the street.  So I had to hire someone to go to the warehouse where it was stored (outside) and unload it and deliver it to my apartment.  Despite that one inconvenience the process went smoothly.  I mention this so others will consider this when moving, I sure didn't.  The gentleman I spoke to over the phone was always polite, friendly and answered all of my questions.  Upon opening everything look about the way I left it.  Some items had shifted in transport but nothing was wet or damaged.  I'm actually considering to use them again but this time with two relo cubes.  If I do I'll let you know how it goes.

Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

ABF UPACK was great.

We used a Relo-cube to move our stuff. We had it stored for a month while we looked for a place in our new location. We got exactly what we were expecting, which is way more than I can say for other experiences with movers. They dropped off the cube as expected. We loaded it, and they picked it up. On arrival our stuff was in great condition. The pick ups and drop offs were on time and easy. It was a very economical solution, and because we packed it carefully ourselves, nothing was broken.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Washington

So far, NOT so good..

We looked at a LOT of moving options for our relocation to Washington state from Arizona. Essentially, we went with U-Pack because the representative guaranteed us it was the most convienient option and their customer service was "above all the rest!" The phone representative was very nice and helpful so we booked 2 boxes. We were given a window for our boxes to be dropped off from 8am-noon (just like the cable guy, great). My boyfriend and I had to take the entire morning off work to wait for this guy to show up and noon passes, still no word. We contact the company saying our boxes haven't shown up and the CSR casually tells us they're, "busy this morning" and he won't be there until about 1 or so. A call letting us know this in the morning would have been nice. We'll after letting them know I had a doctor's apointment at 1pm we rescheduled the delivery for 2:30-3pm the same day. Now I get to load the boxes alone because my boyfriend has to go into work for the second half of the day. *Hooray* I hurried home so I didn't miss the delivery, also had to take the rest of the day off work, and still NOTHING! It's 3:24pm as I write this and I have just called again to find out the guy is at lunch. GREAT. The response on the phone was much less than helpful and I have officially wasted an entire precious day WAITING! So much for customer service. I plan to update my review after the move and will keep my fingers crossed it gets better from here although it is not looking good so far. As of now I reccomend you check out one of the MANY MANY other companies that offer this service.

Long-distance move from Idaho to Kentucky

Move by ABF.

This move was furniture sent to a college student in Louisville, KY. It cost $1953.00 just as quoted and we provided our own packing materials. Pick up was one day late (on Friday instead of Thursday) due to pick-up and delivery trucks all being in use. Was not charged for the extra day.  Generally the move appeared to be uneventful and nothing was damaged. The people we talked to were friendly and helpful. The only problem was it went much slower than estimated. Nothing happens on weekends (we had 2 weekends instead of 1), and stopping at a major hub for transfer to another truck can cause delays in receiving the cube at your home on the day it arrives. I would use this service again, but would try to plan better and have more flexibility in the number of days required for arrival.

Long-distance move from Washington to Nebraska

Misrepresented Services.

Whatever you do, do not pay this company any extra money. I had planned to do a terminal to terminal move in order to save money. I could afford packing my own uhaul and then driving to their truck and packing their truck. I was given the option to change it to a terminal to door delivery when I arrived in my new city and decided to take that route. Apparently, ABF believes my front door is out in my parking lot. DOOR TO DOOR is NOT a full delivery service, even when the price does equal the same as a full delivery service. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. This company WILL NOT DELIVER ANYTHING TO YOUR ACTUAL HOME OR APARTMENT. YOU WILL STILL NEED TO UNLOAD YOUR THINGS. I guess if I was moving somewhere where I knew a lot of people and could get some help with unloading (which I don't know a lot of people here yet), it could have been a semi-okay experience but instead they wanted to charge me $400 to drive 12.5 miles from their terminal to my apartment and leave their 28 foot trailer in my apartment parking lot (which is not allowed). Was this my fault? I don't think so, I think it's fair to assume that $400 would cover more than just driving a truck 25 miles.

Along with this, there was no one at the terminal when I dropped my things off, so I had to deal with waiting around for someone to show up to sign paperwork. Eventually someone did show up while we were packing, didn't let us know he was there, signed the paperwork and left them on the counter in the office, which had previously been locked. Great customer service.

I still have not received any of my goods, so I have no idea what they're going to look like damage-wise. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they broke everything I own.

A customer service!

I was very pleased with my moving experience. I had done a lot of research prior to my moving and decided to go with ABF-U because I found their rates quite reasonable. Pretty impressed with their service and would definitely recommend it to other and use them in the future!

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Alaska

Very happy.

I moved from Pennsylvania to Alaska in July. I scoured the earth for a mover I could trust, and two people I knew who had already relocated up here recommended ABF. I used the freight system, NOT the U-Pack system, so I can't vouch for that, but the trailer arrived on time at my storage facility, was loaded, and showed up early in Alaska. The driver was excellent and the moving company people were really accommodating. I freaked out when it got here because the items shifted and I was charged more than I was quoted, but I was credited back the difference. My belongings arrived in good condition; only a table was damaged.. small price to pay, really. It was a very long trip and ABF was awesome all the way. Everyone involved along the way was excellent. I would absolutely use them again if I ever had to move (I hope I don't!!).

Long-distance move from Utah to Texas

ABF and U-Pack were Excellent.

After getting stood up by Nationwide Moving Services based in Kaufman, TX, ABF stepped in and had a U-Pack trailer to us that very evening. I then hired a local crew to load us the next morning and ABF picked up the trailer for our interstate move to Texas. They did an EXCELLENT job and the move turned out to be very economical this way. Hiring a local crew for a few hours on each end while having ABF do the freight hauling is a very cost-effective way for an interstate move. I highly recommend them.

Long-distance move from New Hampshire to Virginia

So grateful.

Over 7 years have passed since our move, and this belated review was inspired by seeing several ABF trucks during a trip two days ago, reminding me how grateful we still are to the folks at ABF for making what could have been a nightmarish move into a real pleasure. Because we moved over Memorial Day weekend, we had five days to load the 1 1/4 containers we needed for the contents of a 2200 sq. ft. house, stuff we'd accumulated over 25 years..including 4 canoes and the power tools, etc., we would need to build our new house. Friends helped us load (what a party!) and the landlord of our temporary rental in Virginia found us three nice kids to help us unpack. The drivers for both pickup and delivery were so friendly and helpful, and we were able to track our stuff online without a hitch. A bit of damage to furniture was strictly our fault..we ran out of padding toward the end and didn't bother to find more. When a friend rented a large Uhaul truck to move a similar distance, the rental was nearly a thousand more than we paid, and U-pack not only did the driving, but paid for gas and tolls as well. I recommend their service to any friend who is planning a move. Our experience couldn't have been better. .

Reliable Service.

First of all, they kept my booking free of charge till the last second. I booked the cubes but the guy put a wrong month so when I found that, it was too late to make it up. So I booked the moving service with Trans United at 2pm, Nov. 25. However, the company Trans United kept on postponing and never showed up. So I booked a traller with U-Pack on Nov 26, terminal to door service. It took 3 days to ship my stuff from Philly to Arlington TX, which was quick. U-Pack charged by actually space you use so it is quite reasonable. The mattress was not clean when we got it, and it took me a while to open the inner door. Except for that, it was pretty good.

Upack.

Had a great experience using Upack. Very professional company. Every thing arrived on time and in tact. Would recommend to others. I was really afraid at first but the man who delivered my cube put me at ease. I even had a very expensive mirror that I was sure would be broken. The mirror was not broken or even scratched! The origin service center in KCMO was very professional and answered all my questions. The destination center in Nevada was great also.
