My furniture is not here yet. I am stranded in Knightdale with my kids. I cannot cook, I have nothing to sleep on. They won't deliver till Monday. I am Talking of 7 days waiting. What a nightmare. They Are So rude on the phone!!

Long-distance move from New Hampshire to Virginia

So grateful.

Over 7 years have passed since our move, and this belated review was inspired by seeing several ABF trucks during a trip two days ago, reminding me how grateful we still are to the folks at ABF for making what could have been a nightmarish move into a real pleasure. Because we moved over Memorial Day weekend, we had five days to load the 1 1/4 containers we needed for the contents of a 2200 sq. ft. house, stuff we'd accumulated over 25 years..including 4 canoes and the power tools, etc., we would need to build our new house. Friends helped us load (what a party!) and the landlord of our temporary rental in Virginia found us three nice kids to help us unpack. The drivers for both pickup and delivery were so friendly and helpful, and we were able to track our stuff online without a hitch. A bit of damage to furniture was strictly our fault..we ran out of padding toward the end and didn't bother to find more. When a friend rented a large Uhaul truck to move a similar distance, the rental was nearly a thousand more than we paid, and U-pack not only did the driving, but paid for gas and tolls as well. I recommend their service to any friend who is planning a move. Our experience couldn't have been better. .

I had a wonderful experience with this company. It was easy, communication was excellent and quick via email. Price was awesome. My items were in perfect condition. All the staff were very helpful and professional. I will recommend this company to all my friends who are looking for a moving company to move long distance. I'm very happy.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Texas

Reliable Service.

First of all, they kept my booking free of charge till the last second. I booked the cubes but the guy put a wrong month so when I found that, it was too late to make it up. So I booked the moving service with Trans United at 2pm, Nov. 25. However, the company Trans United kept on postponing and never showed up. So I booked a traller with U-Pack on Nov 26, terminal to door service. It took 3 days to ship my stuff from Philly to Arlington TX, which was quick. U-Pack charged by actually space you use so it is quite reasonable. The mattress was not clean when we got it, and it took me a while to open the inner door. Except for that, it was pretty good.

Long-distance move from Arizona to Massachusetts

Absolute GREAT experience !!

I just returned from helping my daughter move across country from AZ-MA. I used U-PACK'S door to door service as well as the guaranteed delivery option. The communication with the company, their updating of my information on the move, the timeliness of their delivery and pickup of the container both in Tucson and Boston were impeccable !! I might also add they were the least expensive option when compared with other moving companies. ! We packed the 8 foot container tight so there was no movement inside and everything arrived in perfect condition. If I ever have to make a move again, I will definitiely use this company . I recommend 100 % and then some !

U-Pack.

I had trouble getting other movers and consolidators to work with my schedule.  I called U-Pack last minute and they arranged to ahve a container that day.  The driver spoke to me several times becasuse I as not there for delivery of the container to make certain I understand where he had placed it.  The container arrived as agreed, the prices was fair and everyone at ABF was a pleasure to work with and very responsive all the time.  I would highly recommend them in the future.  .

Could not be more satisfied.

U-Pack was much less expensive for the same exact size and service. Fantastic service, excellent quality communications, could not be happier.  We compared with other national brands and actual shipping companies and we could not find a better price.  Movers are constantly harrassing you before you move, lowball quotes. U pack was absolutely perrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfecto.

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Oregon

Cross Country Move.

Bottom line: UPack did everything they promised.

We moved from Boston MA to Portland OR, using UPack. We went with them because we thought we'd be able to load/unload ourselves and didn't want the hassle of driving a large vehicle across the country.

This was our first move in over 30 years so there was a lot of stuff - probably more then we should have brought with us. The (huge!) trailer was dropped off within the promised 4 hour window and left in our driveway. It took us 5+ days to pack.. thank goodness for the weekend and that they picked up the trailer near the end of the 4 hour pickup window.

We had to store our stuff for almost a month since we hadn't found a home in Portland, but UPack accommodated us for the regular monthly storage rate.

The trailer was dropped off at the new destination within the promised 4 hour window and we were able to unpack it in about 6 hours, hoping that they could take it away the next day (Friday, so the driveway would be clear for the weekend.) We were a little disappointed that they didn't come Friday, but we noticed mid-day Saturday that it was gone.

The three drivers we dealt with were all friendly and helpful. They helped us set up/remove the ramp at both locations. The personnel in the dispatch offices and the call center were also helpful and accommodating.

We did experience some minor damages, but I blame our packing technique for that.

Problems.. The only way to tie stuff down was with the slots in the walls. It was secure enough but not conducive to tying with ropes. Also, the bulkhead they provided to seal our stuff in was very hard to secure; we got it finally, but it was a struggle. Finally, as we looked at houses to buy, we were always aware that a 29' trailer would need to fit somewhere nearby for us to unpack. (not necessarily a problem, but certainly a consideration.)

Overall, this was a smooth and trouble-free move and UPack was an important part of that.

Long-distance move from Florida to Georgia

Noting went well except charging my credit card.

The initial quote online was different than the final quote, because we did not "finalize" the original quote. Labor costs were significantly different (double). It took many phone calls to ensure they had the correct delivery address. The delivery of the truck for us to pack was over 4 hours late with no communication and when we called, the time kept changing. We had friends and family to help load, that had to leave, meaning we could not load and secure the items we wanted to before the moving labor (U-pack supplied) came the next morning. As we were inside the house assisting with moving items, we could not also verify every piece loaded and secured. After the 3 hours of loading, the laborers left and we finished packing the last items (bikes, lamps odd sized etc). When the labor we hired to unload the truck opened the truck at destination, we found many pieces of furniture significantly damaged. Some was from the loaders (u-pack supplied) pushing furniture across the grated floor, breaking the back legs. Other items showed less damage, but although the floor of the truck "looked" swept clean, there was apparently oily greasy residue that was now soiling some furniture pieces. Other shelving units were WAY over-packed with heavy boxes causing the shelves to break, and the back of the units to "blow out". A china hutch had huge gouge marks on the front edge, There was significant load shifting and damage, including an 800lb ratchet strap that was broken. This showed the driver(s) were careless and even reckless in delivering the contracted load. U-packs only comment was $.10/lb per freight contract. You know as well as I do, this might be acceptable under the law IF THE LOADERS AND DRIVERS ACTED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER. If U-pack and its loaders violated the contract by acting in a careless manner not considered usual and customary, they should be held accountable for the full extent of the damages they caused. This was NOT our first move, NOT the first time we used a freight company, NOT the first time reading a freight contract.. It WAS the FIRST time I felt I had become one of the victims of the great freight scam allowing companies to hide behind the $.10/lb law. Its time for this to change. We have a new president, we need new laws to protect the consumer. In the mean time DO NOT USE U-PACK. unless you don't mind repairing and replacing Expensive furniture.

Long-distance move from California to Hawaii

Great Move and Service.

Used U-Pack to move from CA to Hawaii. They were competitive for the amount of items that we were moving and the price quoted was what we paid, so there were no cost surprises. POD arrived when scheduled, picked-up on time, and arrived at destination as scheduled. Packed items our-self and it arrived with no damaged items. Liked that we put our own padlock on the container so I didn't have to worry about anyone else accessing. Because the POD couldn't be delivered directly to our home in Hawaii, it was held at the freight company facility. We were not due to arrive in Hawaii when the POD arrived, called U-Pack and they gave us a few extra days to unload the POD, no additional cost for storage. Text messages with links alerting me to issues, status of delivery were great. Any question I had was always answered. Never had any issue when contacting U-Pack. They were always responsive and professional. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends.

Long-distance move from Washington to California

Broke their contract; did not deliver to my house.

Summary: They only use large tractor trailers and could not deliver to my home. They made me unpack at their warehouse, re-pack a moving van, and move myself from their warehouse.

The Details: Nice people working for a terrible company. U-Pack is actually the *same company* as ABF, a large commercial freight company. They have hired friendly, competent support staff, so I thought I was dealing with a residential moving company.
However, when I called to schedule delivery of my Cube, I was transferred to the Warehouse Dispatcher, who wanted the code on my Bill of Lading!

I was then given a *9-hour* delivery window (8am-5pm) and told that I had to be present for the entire time. They did not show up. At 5pm, the driver called me and asked me what time it was. He then told me that he would be there in about an hour.
He called an hour later to say that he was nearby, but he was driving a 50-foot tractor trailer which would not fit down my narrow street. This has happened to the driver before. His Dispatcher then told him that he had to leave, because he couldn't be late returning to the warehouse.
Numerous phone calls later, ABF told me that they *only* have large tractor trailers and could not deliver to my street.

Although they signed a contract listing my address as the destination address, they refused to honor their contract. They refused to arrange to deliver my goods in a smaller truck. I had to rent a truck, drive 45 miles to their warehouse, unload the cube at the warehouse, pack the truck, and then drive home and unload again. After several long phone calls, I was able to get them to refund part of my moving cost.

I had to move twice, not once.

Long-distance move from Utah to Oregon

Be careful when moving to a small town.

The sign up process was really good. Phone representatives to schedule were awesome. I originally scheduled one truck then asked for another just in case. I was delivered two and the driver placed side by side in my driveway. No complaints about narrow street.
I arranged movers with U pack. Easy. They don't have liability and we're trying to save me space so my washer was crushed. The trucks don't have springs to soften the pressure. Many boxes crushed. I am uncertain of the extent of damage as my things are in storage but many boxes were not in good shape.
To get it all in one truck we did not have room for the ramp. I asked the mover and he said they will bring you one at the destination.
I had movers scheduled for the next day after the truck arrived. We discovered no ramp and I called U pack destination center. I was told one would arrive the next day but the trucker not affiliated with ABF said he was the only delivery to our remote location and he would not deliver a ramp because he doesn't lift things. Sure enough the next day I had three movers and no ramp. Kept calling, promised a ramp, finally I was told no ramp was coming. My movers could not come back the next day and worked so hard jumping up and down from the semi trailer. The heavy stuff was brutal. Took twice as long without a ramp. Many things dropped including my TV. I have no idea yet of the total damage until I get my house and can unpack.
So a warning..the truck ramp is large and takes up a lot of available truck space you will not be able to use but will pay for. Don't try to not include the ramp. We had left ours with the second trailer we didn't use, but it did not allow the second destination center any place to put one for delivery. Remote areas require them to use independent outfits that ABF can't control.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Maine

Worst Moving Company I've Used.

This is by far the worst moving company I have ever used. I have used quite a few different moving companies in the past, due to moving a lot with the military. Everything seemed to be going great until I had to call to give the final delivery address. I called the number on my email and the guy that answered was rude and transferred me to someone else. When that someone else picked up, he was also rude and asked who transferred me to him. He then tried to transfer me to someone else, but I got him again. He tried 2 more times and finally on the second try, someone else picked up and then transferred me to someone else. Finally, after getting to the lady they were trying to transfer me to, said she couldn't take the address and I needed to call another number. I called that number and got the same lady that had just given me a different number. She gave me a different number, same thing happened. I cursed and asked to speak with her supervisor and she hung up. I tried the new number she gave me again and the very first guy I talked to answered and said someone at the correct number was trying to call me, which no one ever did. I asked to speak with his supervisor and was told "I don't care, you're still going to have to pay," stated he was at lunch at 2:30pm and hung up. I logged onto the website and there was a different number. I called that and got the same lady that hung up on me. I called back and this time I didn't hit any of the menu options and got someone completely different. He actually took my address, gave me the cost of how much it would be to get to the hub and then told me they don't offer service to my new address. He informed me that I would have to rent another moving truck, drive to the hub, unload all my household goods onto that moving truck, drive to my address, then unload everything again. I was never told this when I had first placed the order to move, otherwise I would have went with a different moving company that would actually deliver to my new house. Who in their right mind would want to unload a moving truck onto another moving truck, just to unload again once they get to their new home? I will never recommend this company as a moving company and I have no idea how they are still in business. At this point, I will be refusing all payments made to this company and flying back to my old location, unloading all my stuff onto a moving truck and driving everything to my new home, personally. Something I should have just done in the first place.

If I could give "0" stars..

Worst experience ever! Wait time for our truck to be delivered was 2 hours over quote time..which is great when you are waiting around in an empty house. Customer service did not seem concerned with the inconvenience it caused or the damage to our personal belongings. U-pack trucks are not air-ride equipped so unless your movers (or you) secure the items and use blankets, padding, etc, expect damage. U-pack booked the "professional" movers for me and they did a terrible job. I would not recommend this service to anyone unless you would like to end up with a truckload of damaged goods. Overpriced for what you get. Spend the extra cash for real movers, with a real moving truck.

So good!!

I was super happy with UPack! I didn't have to be there for pick up and drop off at the new location. I got to load the trailer myself so I knew my stuff was secure and packed the way I like it. They stayed within all the time frames they gave me. Customer Service was always very nice and willing to answer all my questions. All I had to worry about was me and the kids driving my own car! We moved to Indy with a group of people leaving at different times and I highly recommended UPACK to everyone!!

Pawsitive experience.

We used U-Pack Relocube services in Orlando Florida. Because of our short driveway, the smaller Cube size was perfect for our situation. We moved to the Atlanta area and had our cubes stored for a month. Everything went smoothly without one hiccup. We were impressed with the professionalism of everyone on the U-Pack team. We had no delays, no damage, no frustrations whatsoever. We couldn't have been happier with our experience!

Long distance move.

I contacted 4 different companies about moving. I was pleasantly surprised at the price for U- pack - nearly half the cost of a similar company. Although Budget and U- haul were cheaper, it didn't include gas, hotel, meals, etc. for the 1300 mile drive. Just figuring gas costs, it was about the same as U- pack. Both centers I dealt with were fantastic.

Water and Mold.

We have used Upack twice but never again. The first time we had water damaged items. Expensive items like a brand new queen size mattress and box springs and some hand made quilts. We were able to dry them out so even though I was upset I let it go and figured it was a fluke. The second time our entire household was on a truck in storage for seven months. We now have moldy leather coats, books, and who knows what else. I stopped my unpacking to write this review. Never again. Never, ever, again.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Minnesota

Disappointed - Wet Relocube.

I had negative experience as well. Three of my boxes GOT WET, more than $850 in damaged clothes and luggage. Upack admitted negligence in their pod and since it is the policy that the customer assumes all responsibly no insurance was available and they paid the max of $3 per pound for a total of $78. They advertise waterproof pods but not so. I was told that unfortunately they can't check every container and now it will be fixed since they know. Certainly doesn't help me out. I had even called before hand when I read the contract and was reassured that all the fault for their equipment was not on me..not so. Poor policy. I was told that I should be happy with $78 because it was paid at the maximum allowed amount. I told the rep that $78 would not replace even one suitcase. EXTREMELY disappointed in UPACK.

Great all the way around. I was able to fit all my boxes in one pod. They were great about delivery, contacting me and making a special delivery so I could get my stuff and empty their pod. I would use them again if I needed to move to another state.

U pack move from AR to FL.

I couldn't be happier with my experience with U Pack! Customer service was amazing. Everyone I talked to was super friendly and helpful. I changed the details of my move several times and they never missed a beat! The trailer drop off/pick up went off without a hitch and the ABF drivers were helpful and friendly. I chose guaranteed arrival and my trailer arrived exactly when I needed it. The price absolutely cannot be beat. I even hired local companies to load and unload my truck (on my own) and the cost was still a fraction of what I would have paid for a traditional moving service. Again, I can't mention the customer service enough, outstanding. Would recommend to anyone! Thanks!

Long-distance move from Nevada to New Jersey

All my valubles were stolen.

This is unfortunately the biggest mistake I could have ever made..I packed all my valuables securely.
Guy who works for the company the forklift driver was super kind Kelly in Las Vegas.
He saw how packed to the brim my container was.
I asked if could put my brand new fur and goose down coat in it too!
Which he threw on top! He even said where?
there's no room!
Said my locks where decent not easy to break..
I didn't think about that the locks could opened at the time with a lock pick kit.
Or other way.
Saw the you tube videos of how simple these locks can be opened.
It was picked up I'd say 6-7pm in Vegas it was dark out.
The manager Arron Gold in vegas was nice too.
It was shipped from Las Vegas, to New Jersey!
Sometime within the time of being in Vegas.
To the trip to New Jersey.
Where Linda kept it for a few days for me there.
It was broken into!
All my boxes especially 4 suitcase boxes where sealed with zip ties or luggage locks.
Then put into suitcase boxes I'd shipped to Las Vegas from Portland Fedex..
All 12 arrived. Fedex
All but one was broken into.
I have not counted them all
Not one had shrink wrap left!!??
One large red case the box was completely removed!
Everything of value was broken into and stolen.
I had a trunk no Stuff left!
Nothing in it but a cheap rice cooker and a few dog supplies.
I had boxes of brand new leather boots.
Comic books, action figures,
A new TV flat screen , electric scooter. Gold
Jewelry, collectible coins! Art work.
Things That I'd collected since aged 8..
Stuff that was handed down from my grandparents.
Few items of furniture not much.
Steel convection microwave. let's just say it was at least $11,000 plus!!
Not including the cost of shipping of my stuff from Oregon FedEx.. The cube cost!
I should never have done this..
I would have at least gotten my valubles had I shipped them to NYC.
Price I spent I could have got a professional move.
I read the reviews trusted them..
I guess being Xmas they chose mine?
I knew soon as I opened it after delivery by a nice Hispanic guy..
That straight away I needed my coat!!
It was gone!!
Along with everything else I loved cherished and collected.. New and very old!!
Why did they do this to me?
It was not in Vegas long.
But Travelled 2500 miles!
Was in their Jersey location approx 4 days.
I had to wait for a parking spot to open up.
I want my money refunded and value of my things reimbursed!!
They ruined my Christmas..
I tried putting up a go fund me..
No one has added a dime to help me.
I'm super depressed even my medication was stolen.
My migraine meds are about $1000 for 4 boxes?
My estimation is low.
They never told me to insure it to the max?
I thought by the reviews that they had responsible and good.
Who did this to me??
Why?
What are they reimbursing me for?

Long-distance move from Fayetteville, NC to Houston, TX

Absolute worst experience!

Absolute WORST service I’ve ever received! I moved halfway across the country the beginning of this month from Fayetteville, NC to Houston, Texas. It was a big move so I wanted to go with a company that provided great service as well as peace of mind. This company seemed like a great choice at the time, but once it was time to get things going everything that could’ve gone wrong did. The cube was supposed to be picked up on the 6th of this month, it didn’t happen for weeks! The freight company UPack hired to pick it up claimed their forklift was stuck in mud so they wouldn’t be able to pick up. A week and a few days go by and no one had called to give me an update so I called myself to see what was going on. No one could tell me the status of my relo-cube. A few minutes went by and someone called back to tell me that it had been picked up and would be on its way by the end of the day (false). Before Thanksgiving someone called and asked if I knew whether or not the cube had been picked up because his guys had been having issues getting access to the neighborhood. By this time I had already been in Houston for a few weeks. I called the company to complain about how long it had been and how I didn’t appreciate not knowing where my things were. I was talked down into believing something was going to be done about this, only to have my things arrive nearly a month after it was supposed to, and a small credit to knock the price down. These people still charged me full price for this nonsense. They don’t even have storage options so I’m going to have to figure out a way to get my things on my own. Save yourself the headache, go with another company! They guarantee “quality service” and “great customer care” I disagree.

Long-distance move from Washington to Louisiana

Cross country move.

My wife and I decided to move from the Seattle area to the city of our births - New Orleans. We'd been talking about doing this for years and finally decided to just do it. We spent a lot of time (several weeks) researching different moving companies that ran the gamut from full service to do-it-yourself movers. The one we kept coming back to was U-Pack..and after having completed our move..we can honestly say that it was the best decision we could've made. Honest to a fault. Professional. Helpful. Always willing to take the time to help when we had questions. Courteous and genuinely friendly. From start to finish it was a seamless move. The truck arrived on time. The drivers were extremely helpful. We followed their packing recommendations and didn't lose or break a single item. Too, their pricing was dead on with no surprises and well within our budget. This will be our last move but, if we had to do it again, we wouldn't even blink at choosing U-Pack again. They were that good.
