Local move from Mobile, AL to Huntsville, AL

Great Experience. They worked with us when our closing was delayed.

We had the 28' trailer, and packed it to the brim ourselves with everything in the house, including the riding mower.
We used pallet wrap to protect the wooden furniture and anything with glass, and cardboard boxes for everything else that wasn't in a plastic tub, and all of it arrived at our destination on time in excellent condition.
We even had an issue with the people buying our house delaying a concurrent closing, due to delays in their financing. I called U-Pack, and they agreed to extend the time for the trailer pick-up for at least 2 days beyond the published limit for no additional charge. They saved me a lot of money and worry doing this!
I would definitely use them again.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Stolen ring.

I hired a Upack truck for my move from NY to FL. The truck took 6 days to arrive. Many boxes were opened, many items broken, lamps, mirrors, furniture, and my ring and other jewelry went missing. I had placed my jewelry in a bag and placed it at a bottom of a box in the center of the truck. How would they have noticed this? It is possible that with metal detectors or xray machines. They new exactly where to go. I regret using Upack and would never use them again. Use a reputable company when you decide to move. You get what you pay for. Upack never responded to my claim.

Long-distance move from Columbus, GA to Dayton, OH

Our self move using U-Pack.

We moved from Georgia to Ohio using U-Pack. The people at both ends were friendly and helpful. Our trailer was delivered very early on the day requested, 8:30am. Pick up was later than expected but still on the day required. Delivery of the trailer at destination was on time and in good condition. Pick up of the empty unit was quickly done. Only issue we had was with the partition wall panels. The sliding bars would not function properly and smoothly. One was bent. We had to use a hammer to get it locked in place. To get it removed we had to did-assemble one of the bars from the wall to get it out. If you’re willing to do the work, this is a very cost effective way to do it. Our total cost with trailer, supplies and some hired help was about 25% of a moving company and our property never left the truck into storage or transfer. It was always under our locks, the company had no access to our property. I’d recommend U-Pack to those willing for some lone hours packing and loading.

Couldn't be happier!

Want to know about upack, here's all you need to know. I would give them 10 STARS IF I COULD!! Everything about our move was seamless. I had to change the move date about 3 weeks ahead of time. No problem. They arrived in the time window they told me they would. The drivers on both ends of our pick up and deliver locations were super friendly, very professional and we could see exactly where our 2 containers were ever single step of the way. The dispatchers were super pleasant, answered every question we had, AND when we discovered we had moved cross country to house full of mold and needed the containers delivered to a storage unit 33 miles away from the original destination instead.. NO PROBLEM. While I am now buying a house and hope to never move again, I would use UPACK IN A HEARTBEAT!! They far outshined others, including 2 prior movers that we attempted to arrange, one of which wanted to charge me over 4 grand to move 85 boxes and no furniture! Upack was $1700! everything arrived in perfect shape. THIS is the only company to use for a move! You have options on what to choose, cubes, or a trailer. Look at the measurements online, find what suits you best. If in doubt, order an extra cube like we did. It was well worth it. If moving furniture, I would recommend that you do the trailer space instead.I have moved 10 times in my life. This was the only time I didn't want to pull out my hair by the end of it. Pack your stuff correctly and wrap your furniture just as though a professional mover is doing it and your stuff will arrive in tip top shape without a problem. Not a single thing of ours was damaged.

Long-distance move from San Jose, CA to Marietta, GA

Excellent Experience San Jose ca to Marietta ga.

Our experience with everyone we dealt with at UPack was excellent. I had to change my delivery address three times and was nervous it would get messed up but it didn't. The dispatcher at the terminal in San Jose explained the whole process to me (I asked everyone I contacted what the process was since this was a super stressful move) and was very friendly. I was called when it arrived in Atlanta to arrange delivery and that went smoothly as well. The UPack driver in Atlanta was a huge help! The manager at the storage facility originally wanted him to put the cube on the other end of the facility making it alot of work to move a cube full of furniture and boxes all the way across the storage facility in 95 degree weather. TC talked to her and assured her he could place it closer without it being in the way of other movers. That was a HUGE help. Also we packed our stuff so tightly in the cube none of it moved so it arrived in tact. I would use them again for sure.

The MOST important thing to keep in mind (trailer service).

The MOST important thing you need to know about ABF is that if you go with their trailer service, the trailers have "regular" freight truck spring suspensions and not modified moving truck suspension. This will make a huge difference in how the load rides. The bottom line is that the trailer hits bumps hard and you have to pack carefully with lots of jostling and bouncing in mind. This is NOT a regular moving truck. Create a very sturdy base, don't put heavy things on top and imagine in your mind how well your packing will hold up when bouncing down the road. Many unloading services will require you to sign a disclaimer if you use ABF for this very reason. Also, keep abrasion in mind. ANY rubbing will get magnified 10x fold because of this. I have to say that UPack customer service is great to work with and the company provides competitive rates and service.

Long-distance move from Valrico, FL to Louisville, KY

Beware.

We used U-Pack to move from Florida to Kentucky. As easy as the company makes it sound, it is not. Coordinating all your furniture and stuff in those small cubes is practically impossible. Also, each of our cubes were dirty on all 6 sides which caused different colors to transfer on our furniture. We did wrap most of our stuff but not every single thing. Also, we used their storage service for 1.5 months at a very premium price, only to lose several pieces of furniture to mold when we unloaded. In the fine print, they tell you it is not a climate controlled storage facility. Lastly, they were outside of their 5 HOUR window for both deliveries of the cubes. So yes, we saved money on the move, but the frustration with loading everything ourselves on top of losing more than half our stuff, we did not. I doubt they have any repeat customers.

Long-distance move from Milwaukee, WI to Lacey, WA

Superb Service and Flexibility!

We decided to use UPack due to their competitive rates to using a moving truck. When they showed up, we were concerned our stuff wouldn't fit but the driver had an extra container and reassured us they could drop it with the others and we would only be charged for the ones we used. He provided us the piece of mind knowing we would be able to fit all of our stuff and we wouldn't be charged for an empty container! The delivery/Pick up of the containers were on time and we were able to track their location throughout the relocation. The other thing that was great was they had no issue changing the drop off location the day before delivery! Thank you for the great experience and I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others!

Long-distance move from Malcolm, NE to Lake Charles, LA

Excellent service.

This was the first time I moved across country and I am so glad that I used UPACK. The cost was within budget and the service was impeccable. The drivers were courteous and very helpful. When my furniture arrived there was a problem. The top of the truck had become damaged and water leaked onto my mattress. I called the company and within hours I was contacted to resolve the issue. It took a little over 2 weeks to have a check for the cost of my mattress in hand. It would have taken less time, but I put the wrong address on the form for the check to be delivered. I did not catch that mistake, but UPACK emailed me to verify the address. Rebecca S. with the Lake Charles location CAUGHT the mistake and advised me of it. I have never been happier with a company than I have been with UPACK movers. I don't know about the actual people that they recommend to move the furniture. ( I WISH I HAD USED THEIR RECOMMENDED MOVERS, because my actual movers were horrible) If you are moving, I would definitely recommend UPACK.

First cross country move; UPack was the best choice!

UPack's service was outstanding for my first cross country move. The price point was within my means to afford to keep my belongings and furniture. The service was great; every time I called UPack or ABF they were pleasant and professional and went above and beyond to help me. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to move and won't hesitate to use them again.

If I could give 0 stars I would..

I am still waiting on my shipment from unpack..

I was very clear on the specific date required for arrival and made special accommodations and paid extra $$ to guarantee a date. It was the only reason why I chose this company.

What a mistake. No call, no show. I wasted a day, didn’t have any notice and caused several downstream costs they refuse to reimburse.

Buyer beware. This company has no accountability OR integrity. Avoid!!

Poor service, unreliable, dirty cubes.

For the price I was not particularly satisfied with the size of the cubes, they are a foot too tall and it makes that space kinda useless unless you're loading just boxes.

My cubes also arrived filthy so all my stuff was needing a substantial wipe down.

The main reason I'm leaving a 1 star is due to the drop off service. They give you a time from from 8-12 when they will drop your cubes off. That is a fairly large window in my opinion to get something delivered.

Being single I scheduled people to help me move to be there at my house at 12:30.. I received no calls on the tardiness of my cube or any form of communication other than when I called the dispatch told me 'yes they are on the way and you're next on the delivery'

They did not show up until 2:58pm so I paid 2 movers for 3 hours of sitting around. The customer service is horrible. If they said 'delivery before 5pm' that would have been fine, but don't be three hours late and not contact the person and then also lie to them several times.

Terrible company, would recommend PODS or other services.

The only good thing was their management heard me out in my frustrated state and were very professional.

Long-distance move from Ogden, UT to Mobile, AL

Move from Ogden,UT to Mobile, AL.

This is the second time I have used UPack & ABF. The first time was June, 2008 from Atlanta to Ogden, Ut. Delivery then was as promised. Had trailer for 2 days. Picked up on the requested date and was in my driveway in Ogden 5 days later. The trailer beat me there. ABF gave me extra days (at no additional charge) to allow me to get to my destination. They picked up the trailer the day after we unloaded. The good and timely service for that move convinced me to use ABF again. The second move was Dec 12, 2019 from Ogden, Ut to Mobile, AL. This move had to be rescheduled six (6) times. UPack assisted me in changing the moving date, found me a better rate from the first reservation and always followed up with emails each and every time a change was made. They were always courteous and helpful to me. The trailer was picked up on Dec 16, 2019 and was deliver to my address in Mobile on Dec 30, 2019. The trailer actually arrived at the ABF terminal in Pensacola, FL on DEC 24th, 7 days travel time for 2100+miles and during a holiday season. ABF delivered the trailer on the day and time I had requested. They were prompt and professional on the delivery and pickup. I am a single woman and the drivers assisted me on both ends of this move with the ramps and the bulkheads. The drivers also recommended to me the best place to possession the trailers as to not get too close to the roofing of my home and still be able to load and unload with as few of steps as possible.
I highly recommend UPack & ABF for your moving needs. I do not plan to move again but if I have to, I will use this service again. I couldn’t be more satisfied with this company.

Move from Belleair FL to Nantucket MA.

U Pack was great. We had to furnish a rental home on Nantucket (an Island only accessible by ferry) from Florida. They helped us every step of the way, including a postponement due to Covid 19. They kindly changed our dates at no charge. The ability to track the truck during the entire move was comforting and both the pick up and drop off drivers were very helpful and polite. I would highly recommend U pack.

A great experience.

I had a great experience with upack. Every step of the process was smooth, efficient and friendly.

When I first contacted them to get an estimate, thee were friendly quick and helpful. They also didn’t pester me after the quote to get me to commit (like several other companies did).

When I reserved the trailer, same thing. Quick, friendly and efficient. It was even easy to reschedule when plans changed due to the pandemic.

Drop off and pick up, at the old house and the new, went as planned.

Every person I spoke with was friendly and professional. I really had a great experience with them.

The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because I didn’t get the pick up confirmation that they promised me. I had to spend a little extra time trying to find when my delivery would happen.

I would also warn against their box supply sub contactor. They were very disorganized, and I had to contact them several times to receive all the boxes that I ordered. Also, their boxes are a bit flimsy.

Long-distance move from Louisville, KY to Shreveport, LA

Upack badly damaged by not using blankets.

I bought $400 worth of blankets. Upack suggested company to use to pack trailer. I watched the for a while but had to go pack some more. WHen I came back most of the blankets were unused. I asked why. They said they knew how to pack and had been doing it for 20 years.(Always have two or more friends to help you watch the movers and fire movers on the spot if they are mishandling you belongings).

When goods came out of storage everything was scratched, torn, worn or damaged in some way. UPAcK says the moving labor contractor they suggested is to blame and that I was warned(?) I was supposed to act as supervisor/foreman of the loading crew. Moving Solutions said UPACK was to blame since everything went into the truck unharmed! That I should have complained before the truck left! I used UPAK because of the reputation of ABF. Likewise I use the moving labor contractor they suggested. This stuff was almost new Costco solid wood furniture. ..Firewoood for sale!!

Long-distance move from Bellevue, WA to Big Lake, MN

So frustrating and disappointing.

Our experience with U-Pack was extremely frustrating and disappointing. We called and scheduled an appointment, and the woman on the phone told me a price, took my credit card information, and confirmed that the trailer would be arriving on a Friday. A few weeks later, that day came and went with no drop-off. I called and was told that the woman I spoke to never actually placed the order. The second rep was very friendly and clearly trying to be quite helpful, but the price had now changed to $500 more for about half the space the original woman had quoted. Plus, we had to pay an additional $400 or so to get the drop-off date we had originally been promised. The truck was dropped off on a Monday, so instead of having a weekend to carefully pack, we had one day to rush through the job as quickly as we could. Also, they tell you that you can pay by the foot, but it is only possible to buy in two-foot increments. By the time we factored in the additional cost for a last-minute trailer, the rush shipping, and the additional space (again, which was mostly included in the first price, but not the second) this job cost about TWICE what was originally quoted. We paid to have the truck delivered on a Monday (with their “guaranteed deliver window”), but when we went to schedule the drop-off at our new house, we were told that even though the truck would be in our destination city Sunday night, drop-offs only occur between 4pm and 8pm, so it would be dropped off Monday evening, not morning. We had to reschedule moving help for Tuesday and are still confused why they insist on taking the entire day to drop off.

All in, this company cost double what I expected to pay, caused me a ton of stress and hassle on my moving weekend (turned not-moving-weekend), was slow to deliver my container, and the drivers didn’t even wear masks in two states with mask mandates. I could have—and should have!!—hired full-service movers. It would have been just a small amount more financially and much, much, much easier. If you do use them, triple check their work and then budget for surprises.

U-Pack moving experience.

We used a relocube to move furniture from Iowa to CA. U-Pack was a fantastic company! Their website was very specific & accurate. They sent update text notifications so we felt like everyone knew what to expect & when. Everything was on time & they gave detailed instructions. Customer service was excellent & no long wait times. Price was very reasonable for amount of furniture we moved in 1 relocube. Cube arrived on time & no damage to furniture! We highly recommend U-Pack.

Move from La Crescenta, CA to Toronto, Canada.

Wow! The representative who booked my relocation cube was helpful, courteous and very professional. The guy who dropped off the cube provided the best recommendation for location to ensure it was level. We packed the cube and the same person picked it up on time. Taking the cube off and on the truck was flawless! They took care of paperwork at the border and delivered it to their facility in Ontario early! Due to Covid-19 I had to quarantine for 14 days and they kept my belongings safe and without charge during this time. When I called to pick up my belongings they pulled it out of storage within a short time and stayed with me while I opened it! I was extremely surprised that everything in the cube arrived safe and sound. There were several breakable items, TV, Computer monitors etc. and nothing broke. From start to finish this company is absolutely amazing!! Highly recommend this company for international moving. From California to Toronto, Canada - service just under $3,000. Long-distance move from New York to California

A total nightmare.

It seemed like it would be very easy, I scheduled my pod and the girl at Upack transferred me to their company moving partner, Moving Staffers. Unfortunately, the movers were scheduled incorrectly by the moving company, they came on completely the wrong day, after I gave them the correct date. This would be a recurring theme throughout this moving experience.

Once the day came for my Relocube to be dropped off, it was schedule for a window of 12 pm - 4 pm. It did not leave the previous customers house until after 6 pm, when it was then in a car accident. 2 hours later, the driver called me to tell me he was coming, and the new movers I had gotten to come last minute told me they could not wait any longer into the night, so I had to pay and reschedule everything for the next day (so moving out of my apartment on the next tenants lease).

Once the pod finally arrived the next day (also several hours late) the driver was nice and dropped the unit. He told me I needed 2 padlocks, instead of 1 like the moving instructions sent by UPack dictate. Otherwise, this process went fine.

Getting the pod dropped off was much worse than getting it. I was told by UPack that I would be able to provide the destination address at a later date (as when I moved, I had not found a new apartment yet). Unbeknownst to me, when I did provide the new destination address when I signed my lease, it triggers a mandatory waiting period as the Relocube was moved to a new facility to be loaded onto the truck. The girl who took my information entered the incorrect zip code, which sent my cube to the wrong destination center.

This led to me being passed to 8 different people between Upack and the various detonation centers. Every single person, while being nice and I know it is not their individual faults, would tell me there was simply nothing they could really do for me as the pod was always in transit, going somewhere else, and it could not be dropped off until the day after it arrives at whatever destination center it is going to (again, the incorrect one.) I probably spent about 6 hours on the phone total over the week attempting just to find out where the pod was, I was convinced on the weekend that it had been lost or destroyed. Seeing as you cannot get in contact with this company on weekends, my family and I saw my furniture as a lost cause.

UPack employees would tell me there was an expedited package I could upgrade to to get it faster, but that never seems to actually have been initiated. When I called the Upack number directly, the initial support people I spoke to were always rather aggressive in telling me there was simply nothing I could do but wait. When I would get to their managers, they were nice in telling me there was no option (as the pod had been sent to wrong place).

Every day the UPack people would tell me they would try to schedule it for drop off the next day, and every day I would take off another day of work and scramble to try and get a new group of movers. I eventually got my pod 1 week after initially calling to have it dropped off.

While my items were not damaged in the move, the amount of money that I lost taking off work and the monumental amount of stress this caused my family shows me that this company is not worth the effort, I will likely go with a more established moving company in the future. I do not think over 2500 dollars, lost wges from work, and hours on the phone was worth this experience in the slightest.

Be wary, but can't beat the price.

It was hard to decide to give 3 or 4 stars for the review. I ultimately went with 4 stars because, at the end of the day, I'd recommend them and probably go with U-Pak again when I move next. HOWEVER, there were many mishaps, and so next time I move, and when I recommend their service I would STRONGLY advise keeping in constant communication to make sure your trailer/cube is moving along on time without any hiccups. Our trailer ended up being a full week late (which U-Pak reimbursed $350 for), and the company that dropped our trailer to fill parked in a difficult location which we had to reposition. Another reason I went with 4 stars instead of three though, was because everyone was pleasant and seemed genuinely eager to help get these things sorted out, plus they reimbursed us for it being late. You really can't beat the price, but just be wary.

Simple to do-call for the container; you pack it up; call them to pick it up; they deliver the container and you pay them; you unpack it; call them to pick up the container when you're done. Simple! They took advantage of our bad circumstances.

Unpack took advantage of us in Covid

We hired unpack to move us to Georgia. By the time we had arrived there our holder had contracted Covid and was going to be out of work for an unforeseen amount of time due to complications. We decided to head to my parents place in Florida till we could figure out a next step and asked unpack of storage was available. They told us 500/math. Once we got situated we requested it be shipped to the new address. Not only was the few hours away going to cost us another $2000 to ship it but they would not prorate the 10 days of storage we used. They said we owed the entire 500. I asked for Neils managers information and he refused to provide it. He said I wouldn’t get a different answer from them. He would not provide a last name. He also said, it was written in our contract that they don’t prorate storage. Considering that storage was never discussed, the representative that organization the storage for us, never mentioned that.

Yes, this situation was something we were going to have to accept and pay the additional money for but this company took advantage of our back circumstances. So all together almost $6000. They should be ashamed. Covid put us in a bad situation and unpack was happy to reap the benefits.

Move from Oregon to Alaska went well

I recently moved from Oregon to Alaska. Got quotes from traditional movers that were very high. I asked for a quote on line from Upack and got one right away. While I was trying to make up my mind I got an email from Brett at Upack offering me a special deal. Despite me having to pack up my entire house alone including buying boxes I decided to go with Upack. Brett was awesome! He is in the Arkansas office. I had at first ordered a POD but after starting to pack realized I had too much stuff for a POD and panicked. Brett was calm and helpful. I wound up with a trailer instead. I didn't have to use the whole trailer and was just charged for what I did use. The trailer arrived early and was delivered by a very helpful driver. The only negative here is that Upack utilizes 'Moving Staffers' as loaders. They are not Upack employees but a separate company. The Moving Staffers in Eugene, Oregon were like Cheech and Chong. Disorganized, and when I called to confirm my load date they got me mixed up with someone else! Then to top it off Moving Staffers charged my Debit Card 4 times what they were supposed to! Apparently Upack shared my card info with Moving Staffers. I had a fit! I did get my money back but that was very scary. I am a senior citizen and felt like Moving Staffers were ripping me off. I was too far along in the move to back out and find someone else. The Moving Staffers broke my lamps and did a sloppy job of loading. After that Upack DID pick up the trailer right away, an hour after I called them. It left for Alaska immediately and was delivered in two weeks!! Impressive! The Moving Staffers in Alaska who unloaded were late and got lost but were really nice young men and did a great job unloading in the snow. The trucking company in Alaska took their own sweet time picking up the Upack trailer but finally it left. I highly recommend Upack but use caution with Moving Staffers. Try to find someone else to load/unload and don't use a debit card, use a credit card that has more protection from over charging. All in all it was a good experience and saved me around $4000.00.
