Long-distance move from Valrico, FL to Seattle, WA

Good Experience.

Good moving experience, where this company was able to successfully transition our boxes, furniture, glass and other miscellaneous items with precision and timeliness. I appreciate their willingness to accommodate my needs during this move. The pick-up and delivery teams were also gentle with my musical equipment and placed all items exactly where I’m wanted them to be. They guaranteed there would be no problems and actually followed through on their promise. We will keep Transit Movers in mind for next move!

Good Movers.

They began by wrapping all the delicate items in protective material. The Transit Moving Systems Movers crew was quite efficient and knowledgeable in their job. Though it had begun snowing slightly, they went on their work without any complaint. Soon everything was well packed and loaded and we were on our way to Muncie, IN. I’ve never had such a stress-free move!

Long-distance move from Haldeman, KY to Los Angeles, CA

Bad Experience.

Worst experience ever!! Not only was my estimated completely incorrect and I was charged double what was quoted, the pick up and delivery was a nightmare!! Then after finally receiving our delivery we found numerous broken, damaged and ruined items. We went thru the complete claim process for 3 months supplying all pictures and documentation totally over 3000 in damages only to receive a letter of settlement for $68..seriously they ripped my lung size mattress in 8 places, folded it in half ruining it, broke numerous dishes, broke off wheel on toolbox, my clothing was just thrown in boxes not hung up , ruined neatly all my shoes by packing in the bottom of a box with household items on top. Flooded my utility room, lost my washer hoses, dented walls, broke doors..Not to mention was suppose to be a 2 day move out, but movers insisted on doing it all in one day which left us with no where to stay overnight, and the didn't finish until nearly 2am, then deliver was to be at 1pm, and we were called to confirm that day on time to be at new home..they showed up st 9pm, and then had no keys to unlock the truck..finally cut locks off and they didn't finish until 5am..These people are total liars and their contract is very misleading.

Long-distance move from Gallupville, NY to Dallas, TX

Good Job.

Ryan and Melvin helped me move from a studio apartment to a 2 bedroom. I somehow managed to squeeze in a stupid amount of furniture into my studio. And with the tiny elevators in my old buildings, I knew I would be so upset trying to attempt the move myself. So I looked around online and got these two dudes to do all the heavy lifting for me. Worth every penny. Super efficient. Really polite. And really careful with your stuff.

Won’t Leave Me Alone!

I'm sure they are great at moving. However, I received a quote that didn't make financial scene for us considering the low value of the items we needed to move. So I thanked Jimmy McGill for his efforts but declined to use their service.
Despite my repeated requests to stop contacting me I still receive multiple calls and emails a day. At this point I wish I would have never given them my information as they are a constant harassment and annoyance.
If you can't respect my personal space and decisions how are you going to treat my belongings with respect?
I highly recommend using a company that cares about something other than themselves.

Make Them Put it in Writing.

I wish I could give 0 stars. They promised one price. Then upped it from 2400 to SEVEN THOUSAND. My husband agreed to 3400. They verbally promised TWICE 2 day delivery. On 08/02. They finally arrived on 08-09-19, and won’t touch a thing to unload without the balance in CASH. We had been paying on the internet. I left to get their cash, and while I was gone, they left and are holding our things for ransom. STAY AWAY. I have reports in to the police and the DOT.

My Recent Experience with Transit Moving Systems.

I would say avoid this company at all cost, but from what I've read all moving companies are all pretty much the same. Expect to be victimized unless your employer or the military is paying for the move. As a single person moving from a 2-bedroom apartment in Washington to California, the cost went from $3000 to a final of $3500. Do not believe their lies about having a warehouse in your new town and they will store your goods there until you are ready. I was not prepared for the costs changing multiple times. That is, if I don't take in account my hotel costs while waiting for this company to deliver my belongings that never arrived on any of the dates I selected which they agreed to. When they tell you they offer 30 days of free storage, what that really means is that they don't offer free storage-they plan to deliver your belongings on day 27 or 28 EVEN THOUGH they will keep asking you on every call what day would you like us to deliver your belongings? The actual language is embedded in the contract according to a rude loud mouthed employee named Nicole. Its all honey and sugar until you are on the hook "Hon". If Zack happens to be the one planning your pickup in the Seattle area be aware that its ALL lies. When you finally get your belongings, any furniture WILL be scratched, broken or just plain missing. The packers and deliverers will speak little or no English which is not fair to them or you. They will take everything apart and lose pieces because they have no respect for you or your belongings. Accept it and you won't be disappointed. When delivering, TMS gets a 3rd party so there is complete deniability regarding the lies you've been told up to that point and damage you are about to see. They actually called me Saturday night around 9pm to tell me they would deliver Sunday afternoon. They will try to hold your things hostage at any and every opportunity. Who delivers furniture on Sunday? If you are not home, they threaten to store your belongings and charge you extra to retrieve it. Why that approach is different for them standing you up is really a ponder. They somehow lost my dining room table, only delivering the legs and glass inserts. What am I going to do with that? Nothing. Do yourself a favor and sell the things you do not want instead of letting these movers break it and charge you additional for the privilege. Don't bother notifying them in writing of your frustrations or concerns, they will not acknowledge the message or respond in any way. They appear to care even less for the hard working drivers/movers. It sure seemed to me that the fair employment laws, for some reason, did not apply to these workers. I do not recommend this company.

Absolute Worst Company - Buyer Beware.

What a nightmare of a company. BUYER BEWARE. If you go with this company, you will be dealing with the most UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE, LOSS of ITEMS, DELAY of ITEMS, and HIDDEN FEES. From my experience, I had one person moving my 1 bedroom apartment, which took 3.5 hours. I then didn't receive my items for 2.5 weeks. Once I finally got them, 3 things were damaged and 1 item lost. When I followed up on my lost item, there was no check in or follow up from the company. Instead, there was attitude from the staff and false promises that they would look into it. Unbelievable. To add, I was charged an additional $350 for a shuttle service that was not needed or even quoted. I was told this amount 12 hours before the movers arrived.

I have never worked with a worse company. The entire staff is completely rude and you will be overcharged because the sales people are incompetent. Please please please do not use this company. Go with any other company. Transit Moving Systems is the absolute worse.

Let's Get Real Here, an Honest Review of Actual Recent Experience.

Our inter-state move experience with Transit was our worst ever. By far. We and our belongings suffered threats, broken promises, disrespect and abuse It will take us years to get over the horrible experience we suffered using their "services." No care taken to protect floors. Extra added charges inconsistent with Contract. Damaged my brand new TV through neglectful handling. Brought the wrong things, left needed items. Could not understand, or disregarded, instruction/direction in English. Piled heaviest items on top on fragile items. Broke fragile items. Threatened to leave us stranded. Would not return texts, calls, emails at critical time. Demanded all payments up front in cash. Wow.

Very unprofessional and terrible business practices.

DO NOT USE We are using these guys and when we were told that it would be here in a few days after pick up on the phone and that is not the case when I have called they are rude and not helpful, when they pick up the items they told my mom that she did not have to pay and then the office said it was wrong we needed to send payment they will not take payment over the phone or via electric wire just cashiers check very weird in this age where everyone takes CC payment. I ask for a supervisor would not transfer me to one. we now can't do nothing about it and have to wait to see when they feel like Delivering the items.. THEY TELL YOU SOMETHING OVER THE PHONE AND IN CONTRACT THEY PUT SOMETHING DIFFERENT. BARELY LEGAL BUT DEFIANTLY UNETHICAL.

If you would like to receive your property DO NOT use Transit Moving S.

This company is unethical and very unprofessional in their dealings with us. One of the biggest issues is that they tried to forge our initials on insurance form. We never agreed to the $.60 per pound. We said we wanted option one on the form. They had already crossed through option one when giving me the paper. I said no, I wanted option one and they said they added the cost of option one to the total. Here is a list of issues: 1. That the drivers and loading/unloading people work for Transit Moving Systems. They do not use contract labor. They are not a broker. The driver told us this was his first time working for them. The un-loaders told us they saw an ad to help on Craigslist. 2. They said they would reassemble what they disassembled. They refused to reassemble furniture they took apart. 3. The loading manager on the second day offered to take over $2k off the bill if we paid him $600 cash. Then when we said no, he said do you understand what I am offering. He said he is not questioned on what he writes down. We still said no. I wonder how many people have paid him. 3. When they did not finish on day 1 they said they would be back day 2 early in the morning to finish loading. They showed up at noon. Which kept us late in getting on the road ourselves. 4. They continually asked for more money. The loaders asked for more, the driver asked for more, it was non-stop. 5. The driver left with the job not being done and several of our things were lost. 6. The driver tried to leave items that did not belong to us because they had four different people's stuff on the truck. 7. What started out at a $6500 move ended up at a $16k move because of charging us for packing we did not ask for, $1850 for a u-haul truck because the moving truck had four moves on it and therefore was too big to make it up our driveway. 8. They were extremely rude and difficult to deal with. They blocked us from being able to reach the sales guy that originally did the deal when his lies were starting to be uncovered. 9. Their CS Manager said she didn't have a boss and there was noone higher I could speak to. They put in a writing that a manager would call us back. That never happened. This all occurred over Christmas. They un-loaded on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They ruined Christmas for our family in our new home. 10. We have video of them driving over our items, then the driver denying it. 11. This company is unscrupulous. We did not sign the paperwork and did not agree to what they wanted us to. They did not deliver the items listed on their forms that they completed and they do not have our signature.

Move from WA State to AZ.

Never having used a moving company before, I was very nervous about the whole transaction, especially when I was promised our things would not be stored in a warehouse, but they were. After waiting a few days, the goods were loaded and shipped. The driver was excellent about communication, and everything was delivered safe and sound at the quoted price. On both pick up and delivery, everyone was professional, polite, and efficient. I have recommended this company to a friend.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Derby, KS

Disorganized and lack of communication.

We contracted with Transit Moving Systems 10 weeks before our move with a very specific moving date. The week before I move it took me until the day before our projected moving date to get a time frame or ETA of when our movers would be there. To my surprise they had me scheduled 3 days after my requested date. I was able to call and beg for them to at least move us up one day. Our movers that were supposed to arrive between the 10-2 time frame did not show up until almost 5pm despite my being very insistent they be timely because we had a 10 hour drive ahead of us.

Then it came time for my delivery. I called and they didn't have me in the system as being schedule. I called 3 days later (2 days prior to the delivery date I had chosen on my signed contract) still no luck. I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to get a response and I was told condescendingly that these are consolidated moves so they had to schedule me around when they had someone going our way. This is a Thursday, I was told they had a truck leaving Saturday and they would try to get me on that truck and I would get a call back in an hour. I received no such call. I was told my customer service rep who I had been calling and emailing since September 5th was no longer with the company but his emails were forwarded and they "must have been missed." Began calling the following Monday, still not scheduled, called Thursday and now am told it would be another 5-6 days before we would take delivery of our belongings. I was also informed our pick up driver had never submitted our payment and I would still owe 65% of my move on delivery date.

2 days after this conversation I received a call from my delivery driver who surpise, was on his way and would be there to unload my stuff at 9:30 at night. As I have neighbors and small children he agreed to bring my stuff the following morning.

The actual people doing the moving themselves were wonderful individuals upon pick up and delivery. The office staff is unprofessional. My Better Business Bureau complaint was responded with falsities that they had taken care of my issue. I am not contemplating submitting my professional billable hours that I had wasted dealing with the office staff.

Be careful!

We ended up using Transit Moving Systems due to a military discount offered - initially the quote was for $3,500 which we received the discount for. All of a sudden the final bill exceeded $7,000, I am to blame for some of that due to having more boxes than anticipated however they won't honor the military discount on the full final price of the move and said it was only valid at the time of booking. I am not completely sure how the price doubled but I am having a really hard time understanding why they won't honor their military discount on the total!

DO NOT USE

Moving from CO to CA. Spent hours on the phone documenting all boxes, items, dimensions with out rep. Movers showed up in a 17 ft UHAUL truck, after we were promised a 27ft truck. Our estimate went from just over $5k to $8.5k. We had to pack out cars to the gills with everything that wouldn't fit in the small truck and throw away many things we meant to take with us because there was literally not room for a kleenex in our cars. Four days after our arrival in CA and NO ONE in this organization can even give us an update on when our things will leave CO. Every time we call, it's, "I'll have my supervisor call you asap!" Voicemail from a "dispatch operations manager" telling us no updates and that he's getting on a plane right now. Nothing. We have demanded contact information for supervisors. Nothing. AVOID THIS SCAM.

Transit Moving did an awesome job moving my furniture and boxes to a storage unit and then a month later moving from the storage unit to a high-rise condo. All my furniture was well wrapped, and there was no damage. Very professional office staff! I would recommend using them again if needed (hopefully not soon!). Thumbs Up!

My experience was everything I expected and more. The Transit Moving guys were on time, VERY friendly, and extremely professional. And amazingly quick. The cost was very reasonable and upfront. No hidden costs at all. They were in and out of my apt on the 4th floor in no time, even with taking apart my daughter's bed at no additional cost and shrink wrapping several furniture pieces. I hope I don't have to move for another four years, but when I do, I will be calling Transit Moving.

DO NOT USE!!!

WORST company I have ever worked with in my life!!! Buyer beware, do your homework, this company is out to steal your money.

My initial quote went from $6500 to $9500 thanks to the argumentative and abusive foreman they sent to our house. Everything became a battle about what they could pack and what they would not pack. At one point, the foreman threatened to take his crew leave the house after a couple of hours of work because I insisted that they follow the quote I had received from my sales rep. For that quote, I had told the rep that we would pack a few things, leave many furniture items, and then needed the company to do the rest. Obviously this was not communicated (or never is) because it quickly became a shell game to get as much money as possible from us.

Before leaving, the foreman started taking things OFF the truck and not packing things he said he would earlier in the day (such as our TV). I then learned that it would cost $8,000 more to finish the job--and that still might not be enough! To make matters worse, the foreman didn't give me one piece of paper that I had signed that day as part of the contract.

Our sales rep, who had been helpful until the packing crew arrived, quickly became useless, expecting us to pay more because I had forgotten to mention over $11,000(!!!!!) worth of cubic feet. When I asked for his manager, I was directed to a person, who after much discussion, and after I stated that we would pack the entire house in one night, stated he would cut the price from $5.03/cubic foot to $5.00/cubic foot. Needless to say, that didn't make a dent in the new price.

Thankfully a Penske dealer had a truck and a car platform, which we rented and loaded the next day. When I told the manager we no longer needed them to come back, I wanted money taken off of the final delivery price instead. He seemed about to take money off of the final delivery price, but stated that he had to get with another manager for approval. I never heard from him again, despite my repeated messages, and I definitely did not receive anything off the final delivery price.

The only silver lining (after reading the reviews of so many that suffered similarly) is that we received our things in a matter of days. However, even then Transit Moving found a way to twist the knife, calling us Sunday to state that if we did not have a cashier's check/money order for the final delivery, then our items would go in storage, costing us thousands of dollars more. Nevermind that we received the info of a Monday delivery on a Friday when we were on the road and the bank would barely be open for us to get the money on time Monday.

In short, Transit Moving is simply after your money, will give you a low ball quote that will never hold for long, and then will hold you over a barrel when you don't have time to hire another company.

BUYER BEWARE! If the quote sounds too good to be true--it is.

BEWARE the pain doesn't end after delivery

BEWARE of Transit Moving Systems for state-to-state moves. They are taking on more orders than they can handle with a four truck fleet, and seem incapable and unwilling to communicate with customers about changes to pickup and delivery. Though our reservation was made two months prior to our move, after two weeks our items remain in a warehouse with no date offered to deliver them. The company clearly lacks the logistics to efficiently complete orders, regardless of the current moving industry situation. Our sales representative Sal Leyva made a great sales pitch with many promises that have since been broken, including unnecessary and misleading charges, exaggerated quick turnaround for delivery, and availability and reliability of customer service.

In April, we set our reservation for Friday June 11, 2021. We were told the company would pick up our items, which would be directly driven to our new home in a matter of days (pending daily driving limits for drivers). Two days prior to that date, Transit Moving Systems called to provide a four-hour time window for pickup. They did not show up the day of our reservation (and did not inform us they would not be coming until after the window), but came two days later. They then informed us they would be moving out items to a warehouse, as a truck was unavailable to deliver our items, but assured us the truck was enroute to pick up out items. After many calls over the next week asking for updates, we finally received a form email saying they did not know when they would be able to deliver our items and that it could be more than 25 business days.

Their reasoning for these delays was unpredictability in truck and labor availability. While we understand that the moving industry is busy, it does not excuse the lack of transparency and communication the company showed us. It does not excuse telling us one thing to get our reservation and then doing another with no warning or explanation.

The other key note is there poor billing process and conflict resolution. I was billed for 2,800 cubic feet, but at delivery my load only consumed 2,000 cubic feet, which means they overbilled me over $2,500 and they will not discuss the matter with me.

Report Card

Customer Service (F)

Issue: We have received two communications from the company regarding our case – one phone call to confirm our pickup window, and one form email almost three weeks later letting us know they expected a longer delivery delay. We have had to repeatedly contact the company for updates. The people who answer the phone do not seem to have any information and they will not transfer you to the dispatch department. Sal Leyva, our sales representative was helpful and reassuring until the process started going wrong, then was unwilling to provide updates or help resolve the billing issues.

Scheduling (F)

After the items were taken, we were told they would be moved to a warehouse instead of being delivered directly. Items are still sitting in a warehouse waiting on a truck.

Moving Crew (D) should be an F but the guys at pickup worked well.

Issue: Did a solid job physically loading, but have trouble accurately filling out paperwork. Added services that were not used and told us to call the customer service to update the estimate. Customer Service then told us that they would not remove the charges. The delivery was something special. The truck driver who had no affiliation with Transit Moving Systems showed up three weeks later without a professional moving crew. The driver spends the first two hour searching for more general labor on Craigslist.com. While the first group gave up and quit after two hours. When the next group came, they were careless, dropping boxes, scratching floors and over they had no respect for my home and belongings. The driver didn’t have any concern for safety risks involved in paying random people with no credentials or affiliations to your company entering my home and carelessly drop boxes, scratch floors and put holes in walls.

Communication (F)

Issues: It is hard to know who in the company to talk to about issues, as everyone we talk to doesn’t have the information and is unwilling to transfer to another person.

Reservation Process (B)

Issue: Reserving is very easy, though you have to be careful of what the rep isn’t saying. We felt we were very thorough in clarifying charges and scheduling, but there were still miscommunications. For example, although the company offers free furniture blankets, they failed to tell me that we will be charged for tapping the blankets (charge per roll, with an estimate of over 30 rolls). They also fail to clarify that washers, dryers and exercise equipment are considered bulky item, which will require additional crate fees,(blanket with a flat sheet of cardboard taped the front. We are not disputing these charges, but the sales representative should have been more transparent.

Bait and switch at it's finest

Too pissed off to write full sentences. Getting word on the actual move day was like pulling teeth. When I finally heard, the day was two days earlier than my preferred date which I stressed to the rep we needed. Now I'm stuck in an empty apartment.

Movers arrived and started loading before foreman showed up. Once items were loaded he told us we were over our space estimate and refused to remove items. Was not informed of extra "wrapping"fee for dresser drawers and bookshelves. Dressers were misquoted as smaller chests of drawers. Was assured they are not a broker, but movers shirts did not have company logo on them. Was assured of door to door service, but now items will be unloaded, stored, reloaded and then delivered(probably broken). Called service rep when price change was sprung on us, told me he would call dispatch. Never heard back. Called several times, texted, no response. Price jumped $2000 even after removing items from original estimate. All around shady dealings with this company. I regret not just driving myself at this point. Would've been able to leave at desired time with no downtime without furniture. Stay far far far far away from these crooks

Where to begin. They low ball you on your cft then try and charge you additional space the day of the move. When our furniture arrived most of it was broken and they lost all the pieces for our beds. Long-distance move from Edmonds, WA to Raleigh, NC

SCAM! BEWARE!!!

We contacted Transit Moving Systems on 12/17/21 to quote our move. We received an initial estimate of our move of $5630.10. We then conducted a video call with the mover's representative, Jerry Reed, to conduct a video walkthrough of the house. Following the video walkthrough, we were provided a new quote of $6595.26. We agreed to the quote, signed the contract, and paid a $500 deposit. We were not provided the FMCSA rights and responsibility document at any point during the process. Also, we were promised a delivery date of 12/28/21 by the representative. We were never told that the items would not be shipped immediately, and the delivery window was 21 business days.

On moving day, the movers began packing our items and loading the truck.  We provided them a cashiers check of $3700.  After several hours, we were approached by the crew and told that the total would be increasing due to an increase in CF from the original estimate. We agreed to the new total of $8204. The movers then proceeded to load the remaining items on to the truck. At the completion of the load, they told us the CF had increased and presented a new order for $12K. We had to immediately depart for NC for our move and had no option to dispute the 50% increase in cost. We were told we had no choice but to sign the contract and that it would cost extra to unload if we disagreed. We were forced to sign under duress.

We contacted our rep and told them that we were forced to sign the 50% increase after the truck was loaded. They told us they would do nothing to alter the price. In addition, they told us our goods would not be delivered on the 28th as promised and they had no idea when they would be delivered.

We ultimately asked the movers to give us access to our goods so we could pursue another option for shipping. We were told that it would cost an additional $900 for access to our goods despite that we had paid $3700 in cashiers check and $500 in deposit for a total of $4200.

We did not understand how we could have incurred a total of $5200 in fees for moving our goods to their warehouse in Tacoma when we were originally quoted $5600 to move across the country. We asked for a detailed invoice for services rendered and the movers refused to provide. They told us that we had to pay $900 extra. We told them that we wanted to pursue arbitration for resolution and they also refused to provide us with their arbitration procedure. They are not responsive to our communications.
