I was so excited to find out that I could even afford the move to begin with let alone actually do it!

When I got my quote I was glad that it was well within my budget. Moving can cause mayor anxiety, especially from state to state. Lucky for me Trans Van Lines was professional, courteous and compassionate to my wants and needs; great customer service!

I moved on Valentine's Day and my stuff traveled 2486 miles to meet me at my new home in flawless conditions. I can not complain.

Now I will be living the California lifestyle I have always dreamed of and it was stress free with Trans Vans Lines.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $3829

Choosing a mover was really stressful for me. I don't have a lot of experience in moving across several states, and wanted a reputable company I could trust. I talked with several companies and read hundreds of reviews before choosing Trans Van Lines. Their agents answered all of my (many) questions patiently and set me at ease.

On the day of the move, the movers were punctual and courteous. I am thankful that they made my move that much easier and took away some of the stress.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3000

Do not use this company! I used Trans Van Lines to move a small food cart from Miami to Denver and it was a nightmare. First, they quoted me one price based on the size and weight of my cart. I signed a contract based on those dimensions. When the movers showed up, they "estimated in their head" that the cart was actually larger than the measurements.. they tried to double my price. I did not pay. Upon delivery in Denver the cart was all scratched up and dented. It has been 4 months and they have yet to answer any of my emails or calls regarding the damage done. I am in the process of filing a lawsuit. Please use my mistake as a lesson, do not use them.

Service cost: $1200

This was our 4th move. First time using trans van lines. My problem was the quote started at $3,400 and when it was done, it was $9250.. I had to itemize everything and also give the dimensions of everything. Which I did. They said I need a truck for 1700 sq ft. When movers came, they gave me a quote of $9500 tops but might be less after they get everything loaded. they brought a 24 ft truck.well it took that truck and another half truck to load my stuff. I had 2 days to move so I told them they have to come back tomorrow to get the rest. Which they did after I had to call the office. Now here is the problem. When you give the person dimensions of your items, they put it in computer and go by that. For instance a reclining chair. Not all reclining chairs are same size. Also goes for dressers, tables and etc. so when movers go load up, the stuff you items for sizes won’t be same when movers load up the truck. Now, I wouldn’t be that upset if they tell me upfront that it’s going to cost me that much. The movers who loaded my stuff weren’t too friendly and the foreman tried to charge me for everything. I even had some of my things shrink wrapped. He was going to charge me $250 for tape and another $250 for shrink wrap. Had to call office again and they told foreman not to charge me. Geez. Now the movers who unloaded the truck, that was completely different. They were nice, thoughtful people. They went far beyond what I expected. We did get our stuff on the date we expected. Yes there some damage but very minimal. Although I did receive a leaf for a kitchen table that does not belong to me. I called them about it and told me they will call me back. Been 2 weeks now and still no call back. Just feel sorry for the people who’s missing that piece. Other movers gave a price and that was it. No hidden cost. With this company, expect it to higher.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $9250

Do not, under any circumstances, use this company! They are professional liars and they will hold your things hostage. I moved from Florida to Virginia with Trans Van Lines, the original quote I was given (after inputting all my things correctly into their calculator) was $2663. The company showed up, I walked the lead through the house and pointed out everything that needed to go. He said ok. They load up everything on the truck, then the lead comes back in and tells me that the quote was incorrect and I have "a lot more stuff" and that my new total is TWICE what was originally quoted - now $4581. And they added extra fees (over $800 that was not on the quote) and a distance carrying fee (which is supposed to be added when they have to carry the load more than 75 feet, at my house they had to carry it literally 10 feet to the truck). By this time, my stuff was on the truck and I felt hijacked. You owe 70% at pickup and I was told on the phone that if my quote was wrong at pickup that I could pay the balance at delivery. Lie. The lead told me that the extra was due right that second. Did I have another $1,100 on me to pay? Of course not. I called the salesman and reminded him of what he promised and they took the load. But at this point, my pain was just beginning.

I emailed their customer service, the salesman, and found the email for the president of the company and went over what happened and how I felt scammed. Did I hear anything back from anyone I emailed? No. I called customer service numerous times and finally got a hold of someone how said she would research my issue and call me back the next day (Friday). End of day Friday comes and I haven't heard from her, so I call customer service again and ask for the rep, only to be told that she had left for the day and would not be back until 10am Monday. She never called me back.

Then I got a nasty gram from the company telling them that I "owe" them the extra % before they'll ship my stuff and I had to wire them the money. So their finance department gave me their bank account information and I took off work to go wire it at my bank and paid the $30 wiring fee. I got a notice the next day that the wire failed and I was charged a $50 fee for the failure. Why did it fail? According to Trans customer service, it failed because the day they gave me the account number to wire into, they CHANGED their account. So I then had to rewire to the new account, for another $30. So now the wiring fees had reached $110 and they couldn't care less and refused to dock the money spent on wiring off my total, even though $80 of that was wasted on their mistake. But now I was paid up and wanting my stuff.. well..

I had been promised by their sales person that my things would be delivered to my new home on a certain day. Lie. When the time came to talk to the delivery department, I mentioned this particular date that I was promised and was told "no, that's the day it leaves on the truck to go up to you, which could take up to 10 days to get to you from that date." I said that wasn't what I was told by their salesman, only for the delivery dept to tell me that is "not the way it works, we can never promise a delivery day." So I had moved into my new place in Virginia and had 0 furniture for the first week that I was there.

I called the customer service department numerous times, wanting some remedy to all the extra fees that had been charged to me and the lies that were told to me. Finally I get transferred to the Exec. Director of the VIP Customer Care Dept. I went over everything with her on the phone and touched on every lie the salesman told me. She told me that it "doesn't matter what the salesman told you, you owe us this money or we wont deliver your furniture." I was floored. She basically admitted that the salesman lied to me and that they had no problem with that, all they wanted was their money. After about an hour of "discussion" she did take off some of the tacked on fees, but did not take off the extra money spent on the wire. My final total was $4206, which is $1,543 more than quoted.

Once I finally got my stuff, some things were damaged and some things missing altogether. Total nightmare from beginning to end. I guarantee the positive reviews for this company are staged.

Moral of the story is, this company will lie to you and severely undercut your quote and will surprise fee you to death. Then they will hold your things hostage until you pay them what they think you owe them.

My advice: Rent a uhaul/budget truck/etc, hire movers to move your things into that truck, then drive the truck yourself to your destination, and hire movers again to unload. You'll save yourself A LOT of hassle over dealing with scam artists like Trans Van Lines.

Making the move from PA to NJ, I was surprised that the easiest thing was actually the move, thanks to Trans Van Lines! Price was affordable, competitive or better than the others I've contacted. But what made me choose Trans Van Lines was the customer service and the good reviews I've read regarding them. It's hard finding friends and family to help you move, so imagine moving out of state! But thanks to Trans, it was all taken care of for me, and in a timely fashion. All of my items arrived in tact! I would have been hesitant about trusting my belongings with other people, but this company helped me feel safe and trust them. If I ever move out of state again (and I hope I won't have to) I will be calling Trans Van Lines! Thank you!
