Trans Van Lines

Do not, under any circumstances, use this company! They are professional liars and they will hold your things hostage. I moved from Florida to Virginia with Trans Van Lines, the original quote I was given (after inputting all my things correctly into their calculator) was $2663. The company showed up, I walked the lead through the house and pointed out everything that needed to go. He said ok. They load up everything on the truck, then the lead comes back in and tells me that the quote was incorrect and I have "a lot more stuff" and that my new total is TWICE what was originally quoted - now $4581. And they added extra fees (over $800 that was not on the quote) and a distance carrying fee (which is supposed to be added when they have to carry the load more than 75 feet, at my house they had to carry it literally 10 feet to the truck). By this time, my stuff was on the truck and I felt hijacked. You owe 70% at pickup and I was told on the phone that if my quote was wrong at pickup that I could pay the balance at delivery. Lie. The lead told me that the extra was due right that second. Did I have another $1,100 on me to pay? Of course not. I called the salesman and reminded him of what he promised and they took the load. But at this point, my pain was just beginning.

I emailed their customer service, the salesman, and found the email for the president of the company and went over what happened and how I felt scammed. Did I hear anything back from anyone I emailed? No. I called customer service numerous times and finally got a hold of someone how said she would research my issue and call me back the next day (Friday). End of day Friday comes and I haven't heard from her, so I call customer service again and ask for the rep, only to be told that she had left for the day and would not be back until 10am Monday. She never called me back.

Then I got a nasty gram from the company telling them that I "owe" them the extra % before they'll ship my stuff and I had to wire them the money. So their finance department gave me their bank account information and I took off work to go wire it at my bank and paid the $30 wiring fee. I got a notice the next day that the wire failed and I was charged a $50 fee for the failure. Why did it fail? According to Trans customer service, it failed because the day they gave me the account number to wire into, they CHANGED their account. So I then had to rewire to the new account, for another $30. So now the wiring fees had reached $110 and they couldn't care less and refused to dock the money spent on wiring off my total, even though $80 of that was wasted on their mistake. But now I was paid up and wanting my stuff.. well..

I had been promised by their sales person that my things would be delivered to my new home on a certain day. Lie. When the time came to talk to the delivery department, I mentioned this particular date that I was promised and was told "no, that's the day it leaves on the truck to go up to you, which could take up to 10 days to get to you from that date." I said that wasn't what I was told by their salesman, only for the delivery dept to tell me that is "not the way it works, we can never promise a delivery day." So I had moved into my new place in Virginia and had 0 furniture for the first week that I was there.

I called the customer service department numerous times, wanting some remedy to all the extra fees that had been charged to me and the lies that were told to me. Finally I get transferred to the Exec. Director of the VIP Customer Care Dept. I went over everything with her on the phone and touched on every lie the salesman told me. She told me that it "doesn't matter what the salesman told you, you owe us this money or we wont deliver your furniture." I was floored. She basically admitted that the salesman lied to me and that they had no problem with that, all they wanted was their money. After about an hour of "discussion" she did take off some of the tacked on fees, but did not take off the extra money spent on the wire. My final total was $4206, which is $1,543 more than quoted.

Once I finally got my stuff, some things were damaged and some things missing altogether. Total nightmare from beginning to end. I guarantee the positive reviews for this company are staged.

Moral of the story is, this company will lie to you and severely undercut your quote and will surprise fee you to death. Then they will hold your things hostage until you pay them what they think you owe them.

My advice: Rent a uhaul/budget truck/etc, hire movers to move your things into that truck, then drive the truck yourself to your destination, and hire movers again to unload. You'll save yourself A LOT of hassle over dealing with scam artists like Trans Van Lines.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4206

Making the move from PA to NJ, I was surprised that the easiest thing was actually the move, thanks to Trans Van Lines! Price was affordable, competitive or better than the others I've contacted. But what made me choose Trans Van Lines was the customer service and the good reviews I've read regarding them. It's hard finding friends and family to help you move, so imagine moving out of state! But thanks to Trans, it was all taken care of for me, and in a timely fashion. All of my items arrived in tact! I would have been hesitant about trusting my belongings with other people, but this company helped me feel safe and trust them. If I ever move out of state again (and I hope I won't have to) I will be calling Trans Van Lines! Thank you!

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3150

Do not allow Omar in your homenif you value your integrity or belongings. This foreman does not move your items, he is careless and uses the excuse “he is only human” and is full of excuses as the day is long. Two confirmations on the phone, one upon arrival the four hours was enough time to reserve the elevator. Ten hours later, I asked Trans Van Lines to leave, and I moved the remaining boxes. Omar used vulgar language and left all the furniture prep (boxes were packed by me ahead of time) and moving to Jesus who was a very good and diligent mover; just a shame Jesus was the only “real” mover for a two bedroom move. Three attempts were made to speak to a supervisor on the phone. No manager or supervisor would take my call, I could only relay messages through the receptionist who apologized profusely. The contract states “one free month of storage” yet I was charged for one month of storage. I was told once contract was signed the my items would be at the destination in 3-5 days, I booked an airline ticket to meet my items within the 3-5 day window. The day of my move I was told Trans Van Lines was not sure when my items would be arriving. My move was fourteen days ago, I still do not know when my items will be at the destination, yet I am being charged for storage. I have moved four times, this has absolutely been the worst moving experience EVER. Do NOT use Trans Van Lines.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2800

I do not have enough characters to detail everything that occurred with this company but I strongly urge anyone looking for a mover to not use them. They underestimated our move total by 50%. After the trucks were loaded with our items they presented us with an amount double what they had provided us. They did not have a big enough truck to load our items or enough movers. We overheard the lead mover talking to their home office about posting on Craig’s list for more help! The customer service they provide is a joke when trying to call them. They never return your phone calls. They also then increased our storage price. Most of our furniture was damaged. I can go on and on about our nightmare with these movers but stay away from them!!

On July 18 2018 I received my shipment of boxes from Florida to Colorado.
I can’t even begin to list all the items that are severely damaged or broken or lost / stolen

Let’s start with the damaged ones (and I didn’t open all the boxes yet so I’m only listing the things that I saw but seen the conditions of the boxes I’m expecting more )

- glass cabinets - broken glass
- mirror cabinets - broken and chipped in several points
- master bed electric piece - not working properly + both the outlets are broken (it was all bent and put away without ANY kind of wrapping or caution)
- antique chair - broken (leg ripped)
- electric couch - connecting part broken (ripped apart)
- dining table - all the corners are damaged
- dresser - broken
- king bedroom dresser - broken (leg ripped apart)
- chess table - severely scratched
- mugs collection - destroyed

The conditions of the boxes in witch my belongings Arrived are EMBARASSING
The boxes Are damaged, broken.
It looks like they were taken and threw against a wall. Most of the plastic sturdy boxes are broken/ damaged.

The STOLEN items from the previous shipment are nowhere to be found (of course)

My rowing machine is broken, scratched and severely damaged

My Nordictrack treadmill is broken , there are several scratches , the right arm is damaged , the arms cushion are ripped , the electric cord is shredded. The conditions in which my stuff was loaded into the moving truck were AWFUL . The negligence of your company and your workers is by far the worst I have ever seen.

My patio furniture (chairs, table and lounge chairs ) was all damaged. Scratches all over it.
they lost several parts and pieces of my furniture and now I am unable to put it back together .

They were rude, disrespectful and overall EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL . Let alone the fact that they give3 you an estimate and then, after loading everything on the first truck (literally throwing your belongings ) they tell you that they want more money.

Nobody from the company called us, gave us information on how to file a complaint.
The only communication we had with trans van lines was a text message from a former employ that texted us : " I resigned from working for Trans Van Lines over two weeks ago, because I was very disturbed by what happened with your move and the poor service involved following your first delivery. That made me sick to my stomach and I lost all my motivation to work for them after having g a position there since last year. I am very sorry that their service for your move was so poor, and I resigned over it, as I can no longer be part of that organization ".

I got a new job in another state so I had to pack up all my things and move across the country right away. My sister used Trans Van Lines when I helped her move into her new house so I decided to use them as well. Everything went really smoothly. I got to my new place on time and there were no issues when it came to getting all my stuff to the destination. The people who helped me were really friendly as well. I thought the move was going to be stressful but it wasn’t that way at all.

There are a lot of mixed reviews for Trans Vans Lines and I was not sure that they would do a great job in assisting me. I have used many different companies in the past and I have not deemed them to be reliable. However, this company did a phenomenal job when moving my things. They arrived promptly on time and handled all of my belongings with care. The movers had no problems delivering my things from Delaware to Virginia. When I opened my boxes there was nothing missing and nothing broken. This was a surprise since the moving companies I used in the past broke a few things. I was pleasantly surprised by this experience and will use Trans Van Lines again in the future.

We recently used Trans Van Lines for a move from Melbourne, FL to Canton, GA. We have moved several times, but never had a move of this magnitude. We have used other moving companies in the past and have been less than satisfied. We are happy to say that we have finally had a great experience with a moving company. The entire staff was very professional and friendly. Scheduling was a breeze. The move was seamless. The movers were very hard working and arrived on time. We were pleasantly surprised at how smooth the transition to our new home went. The movers were very gentle with our belongings. Upon arrival at the new home, we had nothing missing or broken. I would recommend them to any of my friends and family and will be using them for all future moves!

Lied about the amount quoted, the price doubled the day of the move. They taped on top of my tape, and charged me for the 30 rolls they used. Left the cardboard empty rolls on the floor throughout my house. It has been three weeks, they asked for more money, I have yet to receive my things. I’ve called 5 times today 8/10/2016 and they don’t know what to tell me, and then hang up on me. The worst company I have EVER dealt with! My kids and I are left with our personal belongings being held hostage by this less than reputable company.

My husband and I move frequently for his job, and our normal moving company wasn't able to move us from Michigan to Texas this time, so we had to choose another one. I can promise that we'll be using Trans Van from now on, as we were really happy with how they handled our belongings and the movers were courteous in our home. They never lost patience with our 2 kids asking a million questions and occasionally being in the way. The whole move was super easy, and we were able to call to get updated on where our belongings were. I might not be looking forward to unpacking all these boxes, but I know who to call next year when we have to do it again.

Hi there! So, the story is that I moved from Miami, FL to Laguna Beach, CA. I am seriously so happy with the level and quality of customer service and support I received from this company. I always search for the best deals and bang for my buck, but how I’m treated matters the most and am super glad I decided to go with them because not only did they literally beat their competitors by hundreds of dollars, but they also were super courteous folks. Will definitely recommend them in the future as well as use their services every single time I move now. Thanks you guys!

My daughter needed to move her furniture and art from California to Seattle for school. Moving to another state is overwhelming so I helped her with the process. Of all the moving companies I contacted, this company was the easiest to schedule. I went over the list of items we planned to move with them and agreed to pay extra for special handling, all of which was discussed beforehand. Glass items, paintings, and miscellaneous supplies which my daughter had pre-packaged were handled carefully as requested. Communication was great with the moving team was very professional. As reported happily by my daughter, there was no damage or breakage anywhere. Thank you for making my daughter's moving experience a breeze and one less thing to worry about!

I wish I could give Trans Van Lines more than 5 stars for helping us move! They were exceptional and super professional at helping us move.
We used to live in Iowa but after college I decided to move to New York City. After five years of living here my husband and I bought a house and we needed help moving. We were extra cautious on deciding which moving company to choose. After a long debate we decided to use Trans Van Lines and we couldn't be any happier.
They were not only professional, but fast movers as well. When they got to our apartment I let them know what items needed moved and they started working right away after we finished chatting. We then got to the house and I directed them as to where items went. They were extra cautious about our dishes and other fragile items. We had a lot of stuff to move but they got it done within a timely manner.
Thank you for helping us move and I'd Trans Van Lines to help us move again in a heart beat.

July 2018: this is recent so I'll be simple and straight forward. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO SHIP YOUR VALUABLES! Miami to NYC may be a 3 week process. They will promise the world..the mintue they get your money, then your items, you're done. $1200 quote grew to $1600 to now $2200. They're rude, unprofessional and just do not care. Do not use Trans Vans Lines for your shipping. Just don't do it. I'm aligned with the countless of people who've been duped and decieved. Do not sign contract..rent a Uhaul. Look at the damages from other reviews!

I did a long distance move from south Florida to Rhode Island. They destroyed a lot of my property. Must’ve left some of my boxes in the rain because my clothes and linens were wet, bled on by dye, Black from mold, and stunk so bad that I had to throw 3 large boxes of clothes and linens out. I had a 6ft wooden bookcase that was so destroyed that it couldn’t even be taken off the truck. After paying almost $3000.00 once they got my money they changed. If you get the 2nd option on the contract you might as well say goodbye to your stuff because they make it impossible for you to get compensated for their total irresponsibility. They also broke all the glass of my beautiful maple china cabinet. They totally devastated my moving experience. Don’t use them because if you do I promise you, it’ll be bad.

Moving long-distance is never easy, but frankly, I don't know how I would have done it at all without Trans Van Lines.

My experience was hassle-free, and by the end of the day, I was settled in my new house with scratch-free furniture and fragile items intact. The staff was professional, and they followed all instructions to the tee.

The movers were both efficient and friendly. They were easy to talk to and happy to go the extra mile if asked. I really don't know how my move could have gone better, and I highly recommend this company to anyone who is dreading their state to state move.

I almost never write reviews, but I felt compelled to after working with Trans Van Lines. Moving always sucks, but Trans Van Lines made it as painless and easy as humanly possible. The movers were friendly, professional, and punctual. They took extreme care when moving our items, and everything arrived in immaculate condition. They took the same amount of care moving our belongings into our new house as they did moving it out. I will never work with another moving company besides Trans Van Lines again!

I can’t believe I am writing a 5-star review for a moving company, but here I am! I dreaded moving from Michigan to New York. I briefly considered doing it on my own before I realized that was completely crazy. I researched, I Yelp, I called every friend who had moved in the past 5 years—and finally, per a friend’s recommendation, I settled on Trans Van Lines.

The team I worked with was professional and conscientious from the start, and my fears of shattered glass and scratched furniture were put at ease. They were quick and efficient in packing the larger things that I had not prepared in advance, and I appreciated the care they took loading everything into the truck. The last movers I used were very haphazard which resulted in damaged furniture upon arrival.

Everything made it through the trek to New York safe and sound. Load out was quick and easy. I couldn’t believe my cross country move was easier than one across town. Thank you to Trans Van Lines for their phenomenal service!

I had a cross country move and I wanted my items moved right away. First off they underestimated my quote so I was surprised when the movers came and charged me $800 more than what I was told over the phone. I had an antique china cabinet that’s small in size. I was charged an oversized fee for the china cabinet. It took 48 days for my things to arrive and I originally told it would take up to 21 days. My china cabinet is missing! To add insult to injury the shelves are here but the cabinet isn’t. Several of my items are broken including all of my baking dishes, a chandelier, jewelry box, my pressure cooker has a huge dent, picture frames, several dishes, coffee cups, pottery from my childhood, Plus my name was placed on 3 other items that wasn’t mine. If you want your things (and let’s throw in some things that don’t belong to you) don’t use this moving company.

I am so grateful for Trans Van Lines. My husband and I decided to purchase a home after years of living in apartments. We did not realize how much we had accumulated over the years, so we knew hiring a moving company was the only way. After much research online, and contacting family members who had just moved themselves, Trans Van Lines seemed to be the only way to go. Boy are we glad we listened! Right from the beginning of the process, Trans Van Lines made sure to ask us questions about things even we didn’t think about and gave us all the information we needed to get ready for the move. The movers showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently, without a glitch. They help my husband and I feel at ease with the level of professionalism delivered. I cannot imagine suggesting any other moving company after the excellent service we received with Trans Van Lines.

Upon our upcoming move, my husband and I were very nervous about trusting our belongings to someone else. We had never moved out of the state before and we were not sure exactly what to expect. When we discovered Trans Van Lines, they definitely put our worries at ease. Their customer service was top-notch and they provided us with all necessary information to assist us. Their prices were very reasonable and competitive amongst other companies. The movers even joked around with our sons and made it a fabulous experience having essentially strangers in our homes. By the time our move was complete our boys were sad to see them go. It is hard to find a company that puts their customers first and Trans Van Lines went above and beyond the call of duty. We will never use another moving company again!!
