Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage

Southern Guarantee is NOT moving nor storage. They are brokers who will quote you a very very incorrect amount. We were given a “100% guaranteed no change in price” price of $2,700 for move and $161/month for storage from Greg B. Turns out when the actual movers arrive we are charged an additional $2,400. So much for that “100% guaranteed”. When you call customer service you get very little help and the “supervisors” are quite honestly worthless. These individuals have no answers and only continue to make this confusing mess worse. So now we are out double that “guaranteed amount” and no one even knows what the storage fee is going be because lovely Greg B gave us a random unsubstantiated rate. So if you want to be lied to and then given 0 help at the end book with Southern Guaranteed, they’re your people. Awful excuse of a company.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5100

Where to begin..... this was the worst experience ever and I suggest you leave this page and look into local movers in your own area because apparently Southern Guarantee is a BROKER that estimates everything and tells you an exact price and takes a huge deposit,

then they pick some cheap non professional moving ccompany to do the job and those guys do another estimate when they arrive and demand thousands more up front and then they put your furniture back together half way just good enough you think its right then when they left you gotta go back and do it all right. They were rude and literally grabbed guys off the street at the new address to assemble stuff so non professional is an understatement. Not to mention they didn't even show up to do the job until 1pm in the afternoon when they were supposed to arrive between 9:30 -11a. m. Finishing some 7 hours later 8pm smh. We found things broken the next day too and we had a treadmill they didn't even attempt to lift it to the room we wanted it in. They said it wouldn't fit nothing they could do. A few days later my husband and son and uncle took there time and got it right where we wanted it. Do Not use Southern Guarantee and definitely dont use Expert movers from baltimore unless you want to throw money away.

I'll keep it simple. Do you want to pay Southern $2000-$3000+ dollars ("deposit") to make a single phone call to an aggressive unprofessional sub contractor who will attempt to further scam you? Does that sound like a value?

What an absolute joke of a company. They masqueraded as the actual mover at no time clarifying they are just a broker. Unprofessional outsourced call center who are unable to actually provide info. Outright lied about things like stairs (cost) and timing for delivery (days not weeks).

Don't use this company at all. Just call an actual mover directly and read reviews. I did neither of those things and am paying for it.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $8900

Lesson learned too late for me but hopefully can help the next person..... Fast talking "moving specialist" will reel you in to paying a deposit on a "will-not-change" quote only to find out before the move that the cost is 4x the original cost with absolutely no change in inventory. I was told no less than a dozen times by Greg J. that communication was of utmost importance and then never heard from him again. Not sure what the actual moving experience would have been because I cancelled the move with them and cut my losses. Their customer acquisition practices are totally unethical. Do not fall for their scam unless you're willing to pay many times more than expected.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2200

I recently shipped furniture from Kansas to Florida end of February. The entire process was a nightmare. Firstly, I contacted Southern Guarantee Company and they gave me a “reasonable quote” to do the move. About 5 days before my things were to be picked up, they called me back and $1000 went onto the original quote because they claim the first quote was incorrect and the items needed more space than was initially allocated by their worker. I said “ok I will pay the additional funds because I didn’t want any drama or surprises on the pick up day”. The pick up day finally comes and I suddenly receive a New Quote that is twice the initial quote even though I sent even less items than were on my initial quote!! I was so confused and distressed and had to be sending invoices back and forth between the two companies. The customer reps apologized for the confusion and inconvenience but I was already trapped into a messy and deceiving situation. The only good thing is they allow for the shipment to be paid in installments. However, when I paid the balance prior to delivery, they could not give me a set timeframe for delivery. They just called abruptly a week later and said “your furniture are coming in 1-3 days“. The driver called the following day and said they were coming the next day… I was working that night so I asked if they could push the delivery back a day, then I was told it would cost an extra $700 dollars (even though the contract says they store free for up to 30 days).

The moving guys were professional but everyone else and the companies Southern Guarantee, American Home Relocation and Logistics Moving Company (they all change up the names periodically) are dishonest and liars. They are only interested in your money and once you sign that contract the misery starts. Run from these guys!!! Hopefully you can find more ethical companies in this industry and have a better experience.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4300

Everything went fine until the day of the move. The movers demanded $800 CASH for moving items in an elevator, despite the Southern Guarantee contract saying elevator usage was covered by the contract. The price jumped at every step of the way, and they used a subcontractor called RA Moving LLC. RA Moving LLC was even worse, and neither party was ever willing to state who was responsible for what. Worse still, when the driver who claimed to be from RA Moving LLC showed up to deliver my goods, he was actually part of still-another sub-contractor. He never gave me an actual measurement of volume used, and did not produce the weight or how they arrived at the charges. Despite this, they still were able to gin up the charges to $11,414 total (not including the total of $1000 in additional labor). It gets worse though. Driver drove off without notifying client at the end of the job without doing an inventory inspection and acted suspicious when asked for a formal weigh ticket. When I asked the driver if he could follow him to the weigh station to directly observe the weighing process, the driver asked to meet at a truckstop. When there was no scale present, driver got flustered when client insisted that we go to an alternate truckstop that had a CAT scale. When arriving at the CAT scale at approximately, driver weighed truck and moved truck to filling station. Client then accompanied the driver into the truckstop to receive weight ticket as required in contract. Driver gave the tractor number and trailer number, but asked client for the name of the company. Client responded that the driver should know the name of the company he was employed by, and refused to give it to the driver. At this point the driver got irate and began yelling at both the client and the attendant behind the counter, insisting that he receive the weight ticket without a company name. The driver was so irate that the weigh-master behind the counter demanded the driver calm down and/or step outside. This was observed by nearly a half dozen people in line. The driver finally calmed down and gave the name “RM Moving” (differing from RA Moving on the contract) before getting flustered and speaking incoherently. Client received the weigh ticket as driver demanded he hand it over. Client was suspicious given the demeanor and lack of cohesive storyline given by the driver, but eventually allowed the driver to retain the back half/copy of the weight ticket. On the walk back to his truck, the driver was speaking generally incoherently and insisted that the carrier was at responsible and he was just trying to help, but did not elaborate or specify what he meant by that. Driver and myself parted ways amicably despite the erratic nature of the driver. I suspect based on the man's name and some records searching, that he is operating under an inactive business entity known as Quick Trip Inc. The worst part? My total weight was less than the initial estimate! I will be contacting Southern Guarantee, RA Moving, and Quick Trip Moving Inc. asking for a refund for the most obvious case of moving fraud known to man. If a resolution is not reached (and it is unlikely because Southern Guarantee has not been helpful in the slightest) I will be contacting law enforcement, as well as seeking civil litigation.

Michael F Lupo’s review is spot on. Something similar happened to me. The broker, Chris, gave me a decent quote and said he was overestimating my move, so I went with the company. Though, he, Chris, was rather pushy. However, I found out he underestimated the move and gave me the bare minimum, so my quote was far from accurate. I told him and another broker my inventory and they said it should be fine with the cubic feet I was quoted for. Again, it was not. So the new price was a slap in the face.

Communication was terrible as well. They called me once to update my inventory and told me to expect a call two days later telling me the move date and time. I waited and by the time they were about to close I called to ask. They told me Friday but no time. I called again the next day to find out the time, but they didn’t have an answer for me. Told me they would call me back; however, they didn’t. I had to call again. It then changed to Saturday 12-2pm. By 5pm on Saturday I was still waiting and didn’t receive a call. I called and they told me either the movers were on the way or that it would have to be pushed back to Sunday. It was the driver that let me know the pickup day would be pushed to Sunday.

Customer service is rude and makes excuses. They do not listen and are not willing to do anything to make amends. If you value your mental health do not use this company. They made my move from Ohio to New Mexico more difficult than what it should have been.

I could go on. There were other problems that arose with this company besides what I mentioned. This company practices unethical business. This company cannot “guarantee” anything (estimate, pickup, customer service…).
