Solomon and Sons Relocation Service

We hired Solomon & Sons Relocation Services for an interstate move from Florida to Colorado under a binding estimate of about $3,328. Our delivery address was provided during the estimate process and discussed multiple times during the move.

On the morning of delivery we were told the truck transporting our belongings was a double-trailer configuration and that it could not access our neighborhood, meaning a shuttle truck would be required at an additional cost of $500 before delivery could occur.

At that point there was no real choice because our belongings were already on the truck and delivery was contingent on agreeing to the charge.

The movers eventually arrived at 7:30 PM and were unloading until nearly 10 PM.

During the move, the crew indicated that shuttle trucks are “always” used. After reading other reviews, we found many customers describing the same last-minute shuttle charges.

We were informed that the truck transporting our belongings was a double-trailer configuration, which the company said could not access our neighborhood and therefore required a shuttle truck. The contract language refers to situations where a semi-trailer cannot reasonably access the destination, but the access issue here arose from the company’s decision to use a double-trailer configuration rather than a standard single trailer. Contractors and builders working in our neighborhood confirmed that double-configuration semi-trailers have accessed the area without issue.

While the contract does mention shuttle service, the likelihood of this charge was never flagged during the estimate process despite the company having our exact address.

The issue is not that shuttle service exists as a possible charge, but that customers are notified on the day of delivery when they have little practical ability to refuse it.

If you are planning an interstate move, I strongly recommend choosing another company. If you do decide to use Solomon & Sons, protect yourself by getting written confirmation in advance about the truck configuration being used and whether a shuttle is likely at your destination.

We used Solomon and Sons to move from Fort Lauderdale to Chicago, and after reading their reviews I mistakenly thought I was in good hands. The final amount they charged us was much higher than the originally quoted amount. They then charged us for more square footage than we actually used in their truck, which we have photos to prove of their dishonesty. Then when our boxes and furniture arrived, the movers that Solomon and Sons hired to unload the truck were extremely rough and unprofessional with our items, causing substantial damage to our items and scratching our new floors. The movers they hired to the final destination, fought viciously in my front yard, causing my neighbors to come out and watch. They also threw a hidden "long driveway fee" at us when they arrived despite being able to see photos of our house beforehand. They knew that once our stuff was loaded on their truck, we would be stuck paying any fee they threw at us! This was a horrendous moving experience, and I would not recommend using Solomon and Sons for anyone. Not only was it way more money than they quoted, but the quality of the service they provided was, in my opinion, extremely poor. If you look on the "Better Business Bureau" website, you can see a bunch of other people that Solomon and Sons massively uncharged above the quoted amount, and I wish I had known that they would take advantage of us in this way before using them! I would leave a 0 star review if I could. In my opinion, they should not be in business and you should not hire this company. I am astounded they are still in business.

What a phenomenal experience! Professional and polite from beginning to end. Sadly, I did have a piece that was a casualty but the fact that they owned it, guided me and apologized for everything over and over was reassuring. Called the office again met with courtesy, politeness and professionalism makes all the difference. Was guided again from beginning to end on how to make sure everything was a smooth transition moving from Miami to Dallas made all the difference.

They all work hard and I live on a 3rd floor with no elevator, seeing them moving everything piece by piece with a smile is worthy of recognition and praise

I have scarcely met more incompetent people in my entire life. Subsequent to signing the contract, all semblance of professionalism vanished. Evert aspect of this move was complicated culminating in a significant number of articles (of my relatively small apartment move) being received with varying degrees of damage, in some cases so severely it’s difficult to speculate how the damage was even caused. ABSOLUTELY AVOID! I cannot emphasis enough how horrendous this experience was. The only reason to choose this company for your move is if you’re an idiot or a masochist.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Moved this past weekend and they broke half of my stuff including a television, desk, snapped my entire bed frame in half, stuffed lamps into cardboard boxes among other things.

Their response? Not only would they not trash the things they broke, they left all the boxes and trash for me and my elderly parents to have to haul to the dump stating "it's illegal for them to remove the debris from my home". My dad nearly threw out his back having to help me carry all the heavy items.

When I called to speak with a manager? He stated it wasn't in their standard business practice to get rid of the damaged items and they didn't have to offer any recourse.

Don't make the same mistake I did.

$5k in damages for a $4k move...

Extreme dissatisfaction with the services provided by Solomon and son company. My experience was overwhelmingly negative, and I would strongly advise anyone considering using this service to look elsewhere.

From the outset, I found pricing structure to be deceptive. While the initial quote appeared reasonable, the final cost escalated significantly due to numerous fees. The total expense was far greater than I was initially led to believe.

Furthermore, the level of customer service deteriorated dramatically once I had committed and paid for the move. I specifically confirmed with salesperson Jason that my move would be completed by a certain date, having contacted your company almost a month in advance to ensure timely service. Despite these assurances, my belongings were delivered 25 days after the promised date and 11 days beyond your own lenient 14-day window outlined in the contract. In total, my move took an unacceptable 35 days.

Additionally, the practice of combining multiple customers' belongings into a single truck appears to be a recipe for damage. As anticipated, I did experience damage to an item. An item worth $200+ was broken during the move, for which your company only offered a paltry $30 in compensation. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Terrible experience. Pay attention to the bad reviews because that is likely what you will experience. They will sell you on something and then it will be a different company and different experience at pick up. They will not work with you to solve the problems. They subcontracted to Revolution Van Lines and it was bad. From longer timeline to tons of damaged belongings. Pushing to sign paperwork at the end up pick up at 11:30pm and unloading at drop off at 3:45am. Pretty much a scam. I am highly disappointed and regret booking through Solomon and Sons.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Solomon Brothers was so unprofessional and disorganized that I feel others should be warned. From start to finish, the process was filled with issues.

They shattered part of a glass stairway during the move and never took accountability for the damage. Closets were left unpacked, and when we questioned them, they insisted the job was complete, even though it clearly was not. To make matters worse, their time reporting was inconsistent; they claimed to spend hours on tasks that simply didn’t match what was actually done.

Although they advertise themselves as being “high-end” movers, they had to be constantly reminded to wear booties and cover the walkways—basic steps that any professional company should know to do automatically. On top of that, their customer care was equally disappointing. Jennifer, in particular, was the most unprofessional person I have ever worked with—unhelpful, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility.

Overall, this company was far from the reliable, professional service they claim to be. Between the lack of accountability, the incomplete work, and the disorganization, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a moving company.

We spoke to S&S to get a quote for our move from FL to CA. Tyler came to our house to see what we would be moving-a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom house + a full 2 car garage. As we walked through the house, he looked in closets, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc & I told him we had items stored under the beds as well. We went out to the garage, & I made sure to point out that we had a large toolbox, refrigerator, shelves full of bins and boxes, lawn care equipment, etc. We asked him to include everything we had in the quote so we could ensure the it was accurate,& he assured us that “the company has such a good rating because they don’t lowball you when they quote a job”. He also said he was going to include packing services & all boxes and supplies needed for the job, transporting everything in a semi which is shared to reduce the cost,& delivery of our items in CA. After doing his calculations, Tyler gave us a quote of $22,366.00. Solomon & Sons wanted us to sign the contract asap, but we were waiting for details to be finalized with work. By mid-August, we received a call from someone at S&S offering us a $4,000 discount on the cost of our move if we signed the contract by August 31, 2024, which we did.

I told our account manager that our last relocation required movers to be at our house for 4 days in order to complete the packing and loading. I was assured that S&S would send extra guys to make sure they were able to complete the work in 2 days. However, when the truck arrived, there were only 4 guys. The foreman asked my husband to walk him through the house and garage and he commented several times that “you have a lot of stuff”. At this point, I was not concerned because their employee had provided the estimate AFTER coming to our house and observing everything in person. We had also donated several carloads of items, so we had less to move than had been included in the estimate. The contract we signed says “This BINDING estimate is based upon the specific items to be moved and services you requested as listed on the estimate. Your estimated price is guaranteed not to change unless you require additional services or add other items to your inventory.” Once the walk through was completed, the foreman spent about two hours working on paperwork while the other guys brought in materials and started working. Once he had completed the paperwork, the foreman told me that because we have “so much stuff”, the move would actually cost over $31,000. (He was claiming that we had 28 bins, 6 suitcases, 1 bicycle, 1 side table, and multiple boxes that were not included on the inventory, all of which the estimator saw when he was in our garage) We had pointed out a few things we would not be taking during the walk through that morning, so after he removed those items, the price was still over $30,000.This was completely shocking, as our total after the discount was supposed to be $18,366. He then “noticed” that we had received a $4,000 discount, and he applied that to the contract he was insisting I sign. At this point, he said we needed to reduce the space we were using in the truck if we wanted to reduce the cost. Our only options were to leave a significant amount of our personal belonging behind or pay the higher cost. I then decided to leave behind our 3 full sized mattresses, one queen mattress & boxspring, our large dining room table with four chairs & bench, a bookshelf, & other various items. The foreman then called his boss and informed him that I was refusing to sign the contract because of the price change, and they offered us another $1,500 discount along with a 25% discount on whatever packing materials they used in excess of what the foreman had included in his updated contract. After the foreman had included this discount and updated our inventory to account for the items we were now leaving behind, my husband signed the contract. I wanted to refuse to pay more and tell them to leave if the company wouldn’t honor the original price, but my husband had to report to work at the new location so he felt that the deadline didn’t allow a delay. Once everything was completed, we were given a final price of $21,807.70. We have to spend thousands more to replace the mattresses and furniture we left behind.

Once our items arrived in California, we were contacted by a local crew that had been contracted to handle the delivery of our goods (NOT S&S, even though they claim they don’t subcontract),& around 2hours after the crew left, I realized that my engagement ring & my husband’s wedding ring were missing from a locked box we had transported ourselves. The moving company never handled the lock box or jewelry, but they were obviously free to move around the house while doing their job. After calling the police to file a police report, we called S&S to report the theft as the crew they contracted was responsible. After a lengthy hold, we were told that “they are not responsible for the theft”. We weren’t even given an apology.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Solomon & Sons Relocation is the most unprofessional and untrustworthy company I've ever dealt with. They are outright thieves, and I urge anyone considering them to look elsewhere immediately.

First, don’t trust the 5-star reviews—they’re likely fake, posted by people doing the company a "favor." Here’s my nightmare experience:

The Pick-Up: The movers arrived and, in the middle of the humid Miami summer, turned off the AC, opened all the windows, and let bugs swarm into my house. They then claimed I had more boxes than quoted, adding bogus overage fees for a “transport truck” they promised would be refundable (it wasn’t).

The Move-Out Process: The move-out seemed efficient, but it was just a facade. The movers practically demanded a tip, asking, "How did I do?" I told them I'd decide when my furniture arrived. Good thing I held off—they destroyed my belongings.

The Arrival: Delivery was a disaster. Though initially on time, they rescheduled, and then arrived two days late. When they did show up, they were four hours late and demanded payment upfront via Zelle or cash—a huge red flag! They do this so you can’t dispute the charge once you see the damage.

The Damage:

Both OLED TVs: Smashed.

TV stand: Destroyed with a crater-sized chunk missing.

Furniture: Scratched and damaged.

Missing items: Almost left boxes of clothing on the truck until I convinced them they were missing.

They refused to take items up the stairs and made me unwrap everything myself because they were “busy” and “tired.” Then they refused to clean up their own mess, leaving me with all their discarded packing materials.

The Scams: The drivers openly complained about the company screwing them over and admitted to charging for unnecessary “add-ons” like the transport truck, knowing people forget to request refunds. But guess what? They don’t give refunds anyway! Despite photo evidence of the full-size truck in front of my house, they still denied my claim.

Because I didn’t buy their overpriced insurance, they treated my belongings like trash. Their compensation? A laughable $0.10 per pound, which doesn’t begin to cover the $5,000+ worth of damage they caused. They count on people not pursuing such a small claim, but I am. I’m opening a lawsuit and spreading the word through my well-connected real estate network in Florida.

Final Thoughts: Solomon & Sons Relocation is full of scammers and thieves with zero responsibility. They’ll squeeze every last cent out of you, beg for tips, and leave you with damaged or lost belongings. Do yourself a favor and run far, far away from these crooks. Your wallet and your sanity will thank you.
