Solomon and Sons Relocation Service

After they packed all my things and left they let me know that the balance due on delivery was 60% higher than what they quoted. They took things that they were not authorized to take that were not on the Inventory list then gave me the option they would keep my deposit and take everything back then charge for labor or pay the balance in cash upon delivery or they would take it to storage where I had so many days to pay the balance and storage fees before they auction my property. They damaged my furniture too. The movers who unpacked said that it wasn't wrapped right. They were different movers that packed and unpacked since it was a cross country move. They left glass shelves in my China closet that caused them and the mirror in the back to shatter. I also had to pay to ship the things back cross country that they weren't authorized to take in the first place. The driver told me to file a complaint with the DOT that he has witnessed extortion countless times in this business.

We used the moving services of Solomon and Sons for a move from Florida to Georgia. We regret having it done. The gave us a low quote to hook us up. It started with 1700$, we ended up paying over 3800$. We packed everything really well, they carried our boxes down five staircases with a dolly and no ramp. We could hear our kitchen items shattering as they moved the boxes. Before paying for our deposit, they made us think we would be getting our stuff on the first available day of delivery. They ended up delivering it 6 days later. Our stuff was pilled up to the truck ceiling and was moved to different trucks before it got here. I was heartbroken seeing all our things so poorly attended and handled after we paid thousands of dollars. We have a small apartment. We sincerely regret using this company. Next move, I will simply rent a truck myself, pack and load myself with someone's help and I will save thousands of dollars while keeping our belongings properly cared.

THE WORST moving experience I've ever had--and, as a retired military SNCO, I've moved a lot!
It took these guys TWO FULL DAYS (18 hrs) just to pack up a 1200 sq ft space! They were smug, tardy, arrogant, and EXTREMELY slow. Before the move (and before they got my initial deposit), the salesman was very responsive and in almost constant contact. After the first check was received, not so much. During the move, while I was having major issues with their lack of urgency and poor customer service, the salesman was barely reachable and wouldn't return phone calls, which added to my frustration. I wouldn't recommend Solomon&Sons to anyone.

We had a great experience with this moving company! Looked at dozens of movers, and were quite happy with the choice of Solomans and Sons!! We had all boxes packed ourselves, but they disassembled, respectfully moved, and reassembled most of our furniture!! Our actual movers were, Nik and Denis, very hardworking and professional!! Our salesman was Jason. He was pretty easily reached, and if we couldn't get him directly, called us back in a timely fashion. The driver kept us informed of dates and times along their way to Florida! We appreciate the superb service!!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2057

We hired Solomon and sons to move our aging mother to florida and every thing was great over the phone. It was not disclosed to us that this company used independent contractors to pick up and deliver the items shipped. The fist moving company was late rude over the phone and acted like they each were at party all night. Very unprofessional
We were told it would take 5 to 7 days for our items to reach Florida. We received a call from another moving company , that was confusing, to let us know that they would deliver between 4pm and 8 pm they never showed up. I call Solomon and sons they tracked them down and said the driver would call that afternoon to let us know when they would deliver the next day, they never called they finally delivered on the third day but with an attitude. The driver opened the back door to the moving truck and what a mess. I guess I found where they all party.
12 moving boxes were crushed, 3 were ripped open, a desk that the first driver wrapped the cardboard was torn and the desk was scratched I tried to write the issues down on the federal bill of lading and the driver told me not to it was not his fault and he would not deliver our items or sign the form if I dis he was rude and very unprofessional AGAIN!
I feel very used and abused at this point many of my mothers things are broken and the claim process seems is intentionally difficult to avoid settlement.
As one can assume, I am very disappointed with these companies not so much Solomon and sons but the use of any one that has the ability to rent a truck can move for them that is just wrong.
Over the past 35 years I have moved 9 times using professional movers , just think of the big names and never had an issue this time or maybe its the times, cultures or that these people just don't care.

NEVER AGIAN.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1200

I had moved a long distance not 11 months prior to this move and was very apprehensive about choosing a company as I did not have a good experience. It took me awhile to choose Solomon and Sons for my long haul to CA. I told them all the issues I had and requested an in house estimate because I know how movers can be on day of move and charge a lot more. I specially said to quote an estimate with everything in there. On the phone they were so nice and promised everything. I have moved a lot and my quotes always included everything on the estimate. However, the day of the move they said no that was just for the move, not for the tapes and wrapping. The wanted to charge me and extra $100+ for that and then I got hit with another $700 for the move because the estimator did not do a good job. I had no choice, but to pay it because I couldn't tell them to take my stuff off the truck. It took almost a month to get my things and when they said it would be 5-7 days, it ended up being 12 days. Then they came at 5:45 pm at night and wanted to charge more. I was so upset at this point and just wanted my stuff. They did end up not charging me. But boxes that had fragile on them had holes in the boxes so glass was everywhere, they lost all the screws to my bed so it couldn't be put together, tore a piece off my jukebox, and put a dent in my armoire. They basically were like sorry and send a claim for me to fill out which is a separate company so once they drop your stuff off you never hear from Solomon and Sons again. The claim company they use takes up to 120 days and who knows what they will actually give for the claim. But not hoping for much. Maybe on local moves they are good, but never use them for long hauls. Spend the extra money and use a more established company. Paying almost $1000 more for the move, I would have used that to go with a better company.

Also, the company the recommended to transport my car was not any better. I was verbally abused by the driver before pick up and he canceled the pick up on the day. The company did talk him into finally picking the car up. I paid for pick up at my home and the driver wanted me t drive it to the airport and on delivery he was supposed to drop off at my new home and he didn't. I had to pay for an Uber to get me there.

Solomon and Sons are The Most Horrible Moving Company. No matter what deal they give you Run away.

Short summary

1) Estimates are way off on an original document that you sign. ($1000 off)
2) Pick up crew will put all effort to use extra packing material. The stuff I packed is safe and what they packed with extra layers of packings still got broken. They also mark items condition wrong. Like I have a brand new mattress with plastic cover still on it and they marked it has soiled.
3) Horrible customer service, false promises, and false information.
4) The delivery driver showed up alone so you have to help out
5) The delivery driver left furniture downstairs as it was heavy and he was alone
6) Delayed delivery
7) Broker furniture and wrong items delivered.

Horrific move, terrible experience. I have moved my family cross country several times. This was my first with Solomon. They destroyed over $25000 worth of furniture and valuables. The owner, Monica Hoffman, could care less. We had a very expensive move that went horribly wrong. The timing, the unpacking, the foreman brought in a crew off craigslist and now we have missing clothing and jewelry- the entire process was beyond unprofessional and the owner is completely disrespectful and is dragging out this process so as not to have to reimburse us at all. I wouldn’t recommend this moving company to anyone. Ever.

This company is horrible. Do not care about their customer and their staff steal stuff during the move! Terrible!

We recently relocated from CA to the midwest and we trusted the online review at every beginning, but it turns out to be a mess. The company do not do the job but transfer the job to other company 3 times and the last terminal hires 2 thieves..They steal our wallet during the move and the company did nothing..If there is a zero start, I will give them a zero start.

Stay away from them, it is a waste of your time to do any business with them.

If you want peace of mind that you can trust the movers in your home, choose another company. SSRS hires subcontractors for interstate moves that they admittedly don't know and refuse to accept responsibility for theft by them even through these subs operate under the SSRS name! My personal experience follows.

I paid approx. $15k for my move from VA to FL which was handled by SSRS. I trusted that I was working with a reputable company. I had $3,500+ in blank postal money orders stolen from my bedroom during that move and could only prove the money orders were stolen 30+ days after they were issued. (The Post Office requires 30 days from purchase before you can file an inquiry. You can’t stop payment on money orders. I tried.) By that point, 3 of the 4 money orders had been cashed. They were cashed more than 100 miles from my home and in the same town the subcontractor was from. Coincidence? While the two individual signatures on the endorsed checks were not by people who were part of the moving crew, one of the movers just happens to live at the same address as one of the signers and is Facebook friends with the other. More coincidences? I don’t think so! It is SSRS’s contention that they do not know the signers listed on the checks nor the individual mover I was able to associate with the names on the checks. They further contend that the movers at my home were not their employees and deny any responsibility for the crew THEY PUT IN MY HOUSE! But facts matter. It was an SSRS truck that was used by this subcontractor to deliver my furniture to Florida and it is SSRS who I made interim and final payments to. Not the subcontractor. One would think that if they had any integrity at all they would want to stand behind their name and make this right for their customer instead of creating excuses to deny liability! Working with the authorities has been difficult because more than one police department is involved. Suffice to say I totally disagree with SSRS’ denial of liability and so do the police departments I contacted who suggested I sue SSRS. I am in the process of taking further legal action.

I hired the Solomon & Sons to move from Homestead to Naples Florida. They sent some “seasoned”, as they called him, employee to do in-home estimate. He walked around and was making notes of what needs to be transported. Everything what needs to be taken was carefully pointed to him so there is no misunderstanding later. After inspection I got estimate, signed contract, and paid deposit. This is the point where the moving company have you in their hand. On the day of the move the crew came with a smaller truck that was required to take all thigs. They came inside the house and informed me that they can’t take this, they can’t take that and I got screwed, saying this in a nice and polite way. The moment they get your deposit they can and will screw you any way they want. I told them if you can’t take everything and you are refusing to take some other things then don’t touch it and I will take other company who will take everything that needs to be taken. O no, the person in the office informed me that they came to do their job and if they leave my deposit is nonrefundable. Having no choice I did let them to do load whatever they could take. Later I was forced to rent another truck and hire some people to help me to load the rest of our belongings and transport them to Naples myself. Woman in the office said that they can send another truck for the rest of our belongings and will give me an estimate of the costs. THEY WILL SEND ANOTHER TRUCK for what to pick-up things that they refused to take in the first place? Few days later they called me and asked me how was my experience with their company. When I fully described my experience she apologized few times. YOU WANT TO APOLOGIZE refund me the money that I spent on hiring additional truck and for the fuel I paid for. Maybe other people had better experience with Solomon & Sons but I got screwed badly and under no circumstances would or will recommend this company to anyone.

I cannot tell you how impressed I was with this move. The company, and Jason Barnes, was always communicative and extremely professional. AND, David Sanchez and Hernando performed great feats of magic and strength lifting my "real" wood furniture. They were outstanding in everything they accomplished, and on time. I have not been wowed lately, and these two gentlemen were absolutely fabulous in every way. They need a raise - please give them one because they were magnificent. PLEASE call Solomon & Sons. They cannot be beat, and should I move again, they will be my movers again.

I gave them one star because zero stars is not an option. Let me start out by saying the actual movers, the ones that do the grunt work, are good. The problem lies with the office staff. If you read facebook and yelp reviews, there seems to be a common thread, and that is missed or lacking communication in regard to costs. Another common thread is a majority of 5 star reviews are in the immediate area of the company. Yet another thread is there are only ones and fives as reviews, which I find very hard to believe, and is a cardinal sign of a flawed survey.

Chris promised the world, but the actual cost exceeded by 1K. You try to resolve with Roy, the General Manager, who by the way, "reports to no one', and a resolution is nearly impossible because there is no one else to speak to, according to Roy.

The day before the move, they called us to say that the truck would be there the next day. At that time, we informed them that an 18 wheeler would not be able to access the road. At 0830 the next day, the driver called to say that he couldn't get up the road, and that he would have to get a shuttle truck. oh, by the way, the truck destroyed the entrance way landscaping. The Uhaul place did not open until noon, so the workers did nothing for three hours. At 1:30 the driver showed up with a uhaul with our belongings and informs us that "before we start unloading, you have a balance of xxxxx", which was written on the estimate, and written next to it was 450, which he said "that's the charge for the shuttle truck." We were never informed of the added charge. Now, we have to resolve this with Roy (who reports to no one) and our belongings are held hostage. If we did not pay, they would take the shipment away, put it in storage, and when we wanted to pay,they would bring our stuff AND charge us an additional shuttle truck charge. What do you do?? You pay. Thanks again Roy, you've been a big help yet again.

I served 20 years in the United States Navy and moved 11 times. I have moved cross country twice. I have move to and from the Philippines, so I've been through it all. I also worked for a national moving company between my Freshman and Sophomore years of college and saw first hand how crooked the industry is. Every thing bad I said was going to happened, happened. I tried to resolve with Roy, but Roy, unfortunately, "reports to no one."

Not much I can add to the other bad reviews, they break, damage and will charge far more than the estimate you are given. even if you send them an itemized inventory taken by another mover they will claim its wrong and after agreeing to a binding estimate they will show up, pack everything , than inform you they want more money because the estimate was wrong. they accept no responsibility for damaged items and give sarcastic responses to questions about damaged items. in the end it cost far more than the real companies were asking. I would waste no time in considering this company to move your belongings.
