Long-distance move from Huntsville, AL to Sarasota, FL

Be Careful

Safe Ship Moving is a broker. They have no control over the company that picks up the load or delivers the load. The actual moving company lost 12% of the boxes that they picked up. Their customer service is very poor. They do not follow up and it is necessary to call them. Insta-Movers was the company that picked up my load. Insta-Movers customers service is just as bad as Safe Ship Moving. I would never us Safe Ship Moving again.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1600

Official company response

It is unfortunate that this customer had a negative experience with Safe Ship's contracted carrier. Although 3 medium and 1 small box were all that was lost, anything other than full delivery of a customers goods is unacceptable. We at Safe Ship responded to every contact made by Mr. Miller and even forwarded him an insurance claim within 2 hours of being notified of the issue while Insta-Movers was still looking for his boxes in the warehouse. It has been 5 days since he notified us of the missing boxes, so they still may very well be found. We have made multiple attempts at reconciling this issue with Mr. Miller which we were unsuccessful. Mr. Miller has stated that anything less than $10,000 per box as compensation would be unacceptable. This number comes from the maximum insurable amount per item, which has multiple stipulations that must be met in order to be entitled to. Mr. Miller declined additional insurance on his goods.

Long-distance move from State College, PA to Tempe, AZ

Horrible service

I have an awful experience with this company. I won't recommend to anyone to take on its service.I was contacted by Stanley who gave an estimate based on my #of boxes and one king-sizedbed. I have only one room to move so it should be simple. However, Inch Perfect Logistic driver showed up 3 hours late on Friday, June 4th close to 5:30pm. He indicated that my things will take more cubic feet and gave a new estimate that was over $1000 than the original estimate. I was confused because I provided the exact number of boxes and my bed over the "assurance call" that I had with Stanley the night before. The driver didn't want to upload my things until I agreed to pay for the new estimate. I called Safe Shipping moving Service, but they were not helpful at all.I finally gave up and agree with the estimate. My preferred delivery date was June 16th, and I called on the 17th and 18th to ask why I have not received my things. They wont provide a delivery date for me. It is almost four weeks later (June 29th) and they cannot tell me when my things are going to arrive. It is awful service. They promised to return a call at the end of the day for an update, but that never happens.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2073

Official company response

During the Quality Assurance call, this customer added numerous items and, when finding out this would increase her price, removed all the additional items and wanted to stay at the original estimate. This is an ESTIMATE. When the customers arrived, not only were there additional items, but some of the items included on the original estimate were larger than what was disclosed to us. This of course raised the customers price. As for the delivery complaint. This particular move had an estimated delivery timeframe of 7-21 Business days. Not days. The moving carrier is still well within the contract we have made with this customer.

Nightmare!

So this company is just a nightmare, I cannot speak for the moving companies as well that they contract to, but safe ship themselves, absolute nightmare. Mover got to my home for pickup on the last possible moment then attempted to almost triple the estimate, telling us that safeship.com is the worst of the worst in under estimating moves. So after being extorted and 3 hours of trying to get the broker to do what a broker is supposed to do, thank you safeship.com for no help. I was extorted for an additional almost 6,000.0. And if that is not bad enough then it was 7 days to actually get anyone on the phone to schedule a delivery and nowtold that I can't expect to see anything for 21 more days because my things are in New Jersey, and I am in Kansas and apparently there is an issue finding someone to move it to Kansas, but no one wants to even be honest they just keep making it worse and worse. I have moved out of the country and across country, as a private citizen 4 times now in the last 12 years and never once has any experiences been this bad. I will have had to replace about half of my day to day things before I can even have any hope of ever seeing my things again, if they even actually surface.

Long-distance move from Salem, CT to Denver, CO

Absolutely Do Not Use!

On the original pickup day, Saturday, we found out SS Moving, who contracted with Family Van Lines and/or VSNY Moving to complete our move (I say and/or because the movers had paperwork with both companies and addresses listed, and I’m unsure which was actually the company they worked for; perhaps they are related?). The drivers showed up to our house, and proceeded to whip their truck into the lawn furthest away from our house and got very stuck (which my husband told them explicitly not to do). Our lawn is now very damaged with deep ruts.

In addition to the ruts, my husband overheard the movers on the phone with their supervisor complaining about our job and how it "wasn't worth their time." One of the movers informed me that they did not know how to drive the truck with the trailer attached (obvious from the damage on the truck and the trailer).

I called SS's customer service line and asked to speak to a manager because we were very concerned about the situation and the damage to our property. I was told someone would call me back ASAP.

After an hour, I called back and demanded to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor we spoke with asked that we allow them to worry about this on our behalf and redispatch for the following day. I asked for clarification, but was told I need to resign a new contract. No discounts were offered.

The drivers, stuck in my lawn, had to get towed out of the lawn by AAA, and then the AAA mechanic had to back the truck out of our driveway on their behalf. Afterwards, the AAA mechanic told us that there was no way they were professional drivers.

That night, SS called me to let me know the new dispatched company was scheduled for pickup the following day (Sunday) between 12-3pm.

On Sunday, we got a call at 12:12pm from a driver who did not identify himself and said that they would be arriving between 3:00-5:00pm. I immediately called SS back to ask why the time I was being given was different than the original dispatch period, and to ask for additional information. I was told that it wasn't a big deal if they were late, and I expressed that this was a second attempt to fix an already horrible experience Sunday and that we needed to know when these people would be showing up. I was told that someone would call me back, and that a manager was unlikely to be able to speak with me because it was a Sunday.

Over an hour and a half later, I received a call back telling me that dispatch would be reaching out to me with additional information, and was told that they were "doing us a favor" by getting us rescheduled so quickly. I asked for the name of the company who was getting dispatched and was told it was Safe Movers LLC based out of NJ. A google search yielded no results, so we asked for the DOT license number and found out this company had only been licensed for less than one month.

The original service window came to pass, as did the 3-5pm window, with no phone calls or additional information from the movers or SS. At 5:01pm, we called and asked to speak to a manager because we wanted a refund of our deposit. My call was transferred to a manager (who I'd spoken to on Saturday), and at 5:11pm we said that no one was at our home and that we were done and would like our money back. The manager put me on hold, and then the movers called me at 5:12pm to tell me that my "address did not exist". I asked what town they were in, and they said one two towns over; I corrected them and the call disconnected.

As we were getting ready to head out of the door, the movers pulled into our driveway, just before 5:30pm, in a rented Penske truck (which is against their DOT license). My husband walked outside, and told them that we had spoken with SS and were not interested. We then proceeded to watch them leave, got in our car, and also pulled away.

However, the manager from SS Moving called me back and said that because we had declined the movers, we were no longer eligible for a refund. I responded that we requested the refund at 5pm when no one was at our house, and at 5:18pm, this manager had also confirmed someone would be reaching out to process the request. At this point in time, the manager began to argue with me and raised her voice, telling me that we were ungrateful and that I was a liar because she had “a photo of my mailbox from 5pm which meant the movers were there.” I pointed out that we were on the phone at 5:15pm when I informed her the movers couldn’t find my address, and so there was no possible way they were on our property at 5pm. After raising her voice to the point of yelling at me, we asked to speak with her direct supervisor because this call was deeply unprofessional and we wanted our refund, and she agreed and hung up.

We did get a full refund from SS after speaking with the Customer Service Manager that evening.

Long-distance move from Washington to South Dakota

Absolute nightmare

We used Safe Ship Moving out to move my father in laws precious possessions from the pacific north west to South Dakota. The shipping company showed up a week late so we had to pay someone to meet with them and collect his belongings. It took them over 3 months and countless phone calls to get them to deliver the items. When his things arrived the wood furniture was cracked, splintered, and destroyed. I don't even know how this level of damage could have happened. The boxes where torn open with family photos and a lifetime worth of memories scattered around the storage floor. His wedding china was unwrapped broken and chipped. Every item was filthy. I will attach photos. I hope that you read this and this helps at least one person from this fate. Please please use a local mover with amazing local reviews. We have sent Safe Ship photos of this belongings and have not heard a word from them.

Moving from MS to FL

Safe ship Moving was fantastic! They were honest and upfront from the start. The moving team arrived on time and packed everything with such care, I was very impressed. The actual movers were friendly but professional and hard working. My stuff was delivered in the time frame I was provided and nothing was damaged. They really went above and beyond what I expected and at a fair rate as well! Couldn’t be more happier. If I ever move again I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone moving, you will not be disappointed!!

Long-distance move from Hyattsville, MD to Seattle, WA

Overcharge upon pick up, items are not even shipped!

Avoid this company. I used this company for my move to Seattle half a month ago and so far haven’t received my items. This business is having so many problems I don’t even know where to start:

They quoted me for $2400 with me providing list of items, dimensions of boxes. Upon pick up, they charged me $4000 after loading up everything.

The second they their customer service team knowing I was mad about the discrepancy, the only thing they did was calling me and saying I did something wrong, because I have already paid, they have nothing else they could do to correct the payment for me.

After two weeks, on my scheduled delivery day, I heard nothing and called their customer service team, but I was told the items are still in Maryland warehouse, they did not even move after two weeks time, and they said they will now work on the order and update me within 2-3 days.

All my disappointment left me no other options but to explore legal solutions. Again, do not use this company.

We are tremendously sorry your Moving Experience with the Carrier has been less than satisfactory. Every FMCSA Authorized Carrier we work with must be fully Licensed, Bonded and Insured. We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience with Carriers.
In every Estimate our clear Delivery ETA Schedule is stated:
“The date indicated as "1st available for delivery" is first date of the delivery window and not the promised delivery date.“
Due to your dissatisfactory experience with the Carrier, we have removed the Carrier from Dispatch Registry, Filed multiple Complaints on your behalf with the FMCSA, launched a Carrier Delinquency Investigation as well as Customer Satisfaction Ticket in an effort to rectify the situation and keep this from happening ever again. Our Customer Service Team will be reaching out to you shortly. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Palo Alto, CA

Absolutely terrible at estimating

Move from New York to San Francisco. Quoted me at 370 cubic feet. Charged for 700 cubic feet. Cost went from ~ $3,100 to $4,700 for essentailly a studio apartment... Wish I just rented a uhaul to drive it myself. I will do it myself next time. Broker rep gave me a bunch of excuses, and said I was not allowed to inspect the truck, but did not offer pictures or video evidence to help understand by their estimation tool was so inaccurate:

"We can't stack your stuff" - everything except two of my items were stackable. I stacked everything when I moved from the Midwest to NYC. Your company just failed to properly pack, secure, and tie down everything

"You forgot to inventory items" - Wrong, I inventoried everything during my last move and current move, prior and after packing everything up

This was downright fraudlent and I haven't even gotten my items yet. I suspect there will be damaged and/or missing items. I am calling a lawyer to open a case against Safe Ship Moving. Absolutely unacceptable.

Polite and punctual

I am so angry that nobody ever told me about Safe ship! Where have you guys been!!!! I have been ridiculously upcharge by so many different moving companies. I have been stood up, rescheduled and taken advantage of in the past. Safe ship was totally opposite, this company stuck to all their promises, I was picked up within the eta they gave me and kept me at my estimate. They honored my 30 days of free storage and delivered me once I officially closed on my new house.

Excellent experience!!

I had an excellent experience with Safe Ship Moving and their team, I spoke with Mark who provided me with a fair estimate to ship my belongings from OK to ME. They sent the best movers. These guys were hard working and arrived on time.

They handled my belongings with care and were careful to protect all of my furniture. Nothing arrived broken. They did above and beyond what I had expected. I will definitely use them again for any future moves. Wonderful company.
