Long-distance move from Bloomington, IN to Kingston, NY

DO NOT HIRE.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!! I hired Route 66 for my move, and initially was so impressed by their friendly sales reps, and thought this move would be a breeze. (During and after moving day, forget about the friendly sales reps, you are in the lion's den). Long story short, the company scammed me out of $3,800!!! They lost and damaged so many pieces of furniture, charged me almost double for my cubic footage (then threatened to hold my stuff hostage if I didn't pay the overage), and charged me for services I didn't sign up for. I called/emailed/filed complaints to Route 66 and every company I could think of (Dpt of Transportation, Attorney Generals, BBB, you name it), and Route 66 either did not respond, or responded by saying it is not their problem. My fiance and I, both college students, are scammed out of thousands and thousands of dollars, and Route 66 has not given us a single penny back. (Despite us buying insurance through them…Hm fishy!!!)

Hiring Route 66 is honestly the biggest regret I have had of my life so far, as it has put us under SO much financial and emotional stress.

Please. Head my warning!

Long-distance move from Florida to Tennessee

Not Trustworthy

II had the misfortune of using this company early this year to move out of state. Roland is good at convincing you that all fees/prices are upfront and that an in person quote is not necessary. I was skeptical therefore I sent him pictures of my furniture. He stated I had nothing to worry about but upped the price some. On moving day, two men show up and it takes them more than 4 hrs to load up the contents of my tiny 1 bedroom apt. All because they failed to bring a screwdriver for the door and the legs of my couch. My niece & I ended up having to help them. Once everything is on the truck... surprise! It's taking up more space then quoted, so now it's some $550+ more! Delivery was late. They DON'T own their own trucks (Roland lied), they subcontract. Upon delivery, the mover had to unload and put my couch's legs on by himself (took him about 2 hrs total) and informs me my couch arrived broken beyond repair. Turns out my stuff has been loaded & reloaded several times into different trucks along the way. Their claims process is a total joke! He also tells me that he sees no reason why I was charged the extra $550+. It's taken me until now to give my review bc I avoid thinking about this horrible company. Save yourself the trouble and money and use a small, trustworthy company.

Long-distance move from West Palm Beach, FL to Waltham, MA

Move from west palm beach Fl to Boston Ma

Wanted to share my experience with all customers, please go to another company. This has been a very horrible experience that we've paid a lot of money for. Salesman is well trained, but movers are subcontractors n they do not bring any help so we've been the 2nd set of hands each time. There is no such thing as white gloves service n they pack very poorly. It took an extra week to receive my delivery in BOS and many items were broken n damaged due to mishandling. My armoire n nightstand is busted from the back, picture frames broken, a whole hamper of personal items n toiletries are missing....sounds like it will never be found either. I hope our claim will be handled appropriately, but who knows at this point. I really wished we had done it all ourselves instead. Their phone service is pretty good but nothing else. If u value you stuff, don't use this company at all.

Long-distance move from Riverview, FL to Hendersonville, NC

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

*****Do NOT use this company.***** 1) They under quote the amount of cubic feet your move will require. We did the inventory list over-the-phone and were quoted 950 cu ft. A hefty discount was applied so that our move from FL to NC was only going to cost approx. $2,800. This is a great price, right? So we paid the deposit and I gave a 3 day window for pickup. As we got down to our final pack I did some more detailed calculations and realized we would need a lot more space. The day before the move I called the sales rep to adjust it. The previous discounts (of course) didn't apply to our overall price per cubic foot and were only due to us being flexible in our move date etc. New price for 1200 cu ft. was a little over $4,200 paying the full 5.50 per cu ft. We'd forfeit our deposit by canceling so we pressed on. The only accurate part of the move was the pickup date. They arrived the 1st day of the 3 day window and started with the paperwork. They literally have you sign off on two quotes--the one done with the sales rep and then they mark the truck with additional "lines" and if your stuff goes over the original cu ft line then the second quote states you're agreeing to pay for the additional space. So our second quote was about $2,000 more for 2 additional "lines" in the truck. They did pack tight, but we still ended up going over on our 1200 cu ft. We have a very tight budget and couldn't pay more, so we made the decision to not move a bed, some lamps, a ladder, an office chair etc. The guy told my husband we were better than most at throwing stuff away. When it comes down to move day most people want their stuff and pay for the extra space. Clearly this was routine for them. 2 ) Your stuff may go through multiple moves before reaching you. The truck they pick up your stuff in is not the final delivery truck. Your goods go to a warehouse or get transfered to a semi before being delivered. So they could potentially go through several moves. We had minor "dings" only, but don't be surprised if it's much worse. The built in insurance only goes by weight, so there's very little incentive to protect your stuff. Thankfully we put tvs and as much fragile stuff into our car as possible. 3) The anticipated delivery date is not accurate. We were told at the quoting stage and pickup date that it would take 2-6 days. It ended up being 9, which isn't terrible, but looking back on paperwork they filled in 30 days as the anticipated date. It just depends on how long it takes for them to accumulate enough stuff to fill a semi. 4) So by day 7 of no delivery I started googling furiously about this company and discovered and became prepared for the next hurdle we would experience. I was asked about the final destination at quote time--stairs, elevators, gate code, single family home vs. apartment etc. but no one asked me, can a 18 wheeler make it to your new house? That small truck they picked up in gets transferred to the semi and THAT is what has to fit into your final destination. We got a call from the driver about 4 hours before the truck arrived. He did not ask me about access either, but I quickly asked "how big is the truck you're driving?" "Do you think you can make the turn into our neighborhood?" I text him the address and he called back shortly and said "no." From the reviews I'd read, at this point they typically state they'll need to "shuttle" your stuff from the truck to the house. Additional fees would apply such as cost of shuttle, hotel for driver for night, extra labor etc. We did not want to pay anything else to this company, so I arranged to meet the driver at a parking lot near our house and he agreed to unload our stuff into a uhaul I rented and we'd take it from there. 5) The driver showed up alone. He started moving stuff by himself and then my husband watched him walk over to a gas station next to the parking lot and offer money to random strangers to assist with the move. We had wondered why he was asking for the final payment in cash as opposed to zelle and there was our answer. We were luckier than most and had called on friends to help us move the stuff from the uhaul to our house, so instead they went to the semi and unloaded that while the driver folded up the furniture pads. So in summary we paid over $4,200 to have MOST of our stuff driven to NC and ALMOST delivered to our house. Learn from us and DON'T HIRE this company.

Amazing service as always glad to be a repeat customer. Good communication with both the office team and movers. They review your booking with great precision to make sure you get the best price. No nasty extra charges apart from what was owed. Very polite service. Moved me during lockdown with no fuss, couldn’t ask for a better experience. I will recommend them!

If I could I would give ZERO stars. We booked this company WEEKS ahead and they have the audacity to call us A DAY before the pick up and tell us they don’t have a truck in our area to pick up our stuff. ONE DAY BEFORE??? Really?!?! No one picks up the phone, no one offers help. I can’t believe it!!! Don’t use them, don’t trust them!!! This company is an absolute scam. Thanks Ryan & Janie for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!

Long-distance move from Florida to Pennsylvania

First-class deception

In May I went with Route 66 when I believed they were a reputable outfit. They swore they were NOT brokers and my moving needs were very important to them. Right! I learned they indeed were brokers who ultimately did everything a broker would do. They even insisted on another payment upfront that put them in the same league as the "brokers" they swore they were NOT. To top it off they sold my job to another broker who is turning out to be worse than Route 66....if that is possible. Now well into my fourth week I am still waiting on Van Lines USA to make the delivery of items that were picked up on July 20 and promised in 2-3 weeks. Promises mean absolutely nothing to either company. The wait is endless even though I was very generous to the movers who arrived on 7/20/21, one of which sadly helped themselves to a prescription in my medicine chest. So I caution the public. Avoid Route 66 at all costs. They will tell you everything you want to hear and completely deceive and rob you. Please don't make the same mistake I made. I am learning the hard way.

Moving to Panama City FL

I have never had a worse experience in my life. Being former Military and moving now 16 times. They sent me to a third party called diamond moving and storage. They are crooks! I was charged $1900 more and told it will be extra charge to bring my bedroom furniture upstairs. Do not use them! Guy named Arthur will say ‘he’s your guy’ he is until you pay.

Long-distance move from Corona, CA to Brentwood, TN

Don’t use this company for your own benefit! Very bad service!

Stay away from this company for your own benefit! After getting daily calls to push for us to choose them as our moving company, we signed the contract with them to move us from CA to TN, and then it was almost impossible to get a hold of their representative or anyone else! We would have to wait on hold for minimum 20 minutes to over an hour for them to pick up, and they would pick up and immediately hang up as well, just to start the callback and waiting process again. They also DON’T tell you that they are just a broker and they subcontract to another company after taking 33% of the fee.

The deadline of getting out of our house in CA was approaching and they kept postponing the pick up date! They ended up having another company pick up our stuff a day after we were supposed to be out already. We had to basically sign a new contract with this carrier and you didn’t even have time to read/review it because you knew you just had to load your things and get out of the house. They charged us for extra things that we did not agree upon with Route 66, but we had no choice because we were already a day late to move out for the new tenants. There were so many lies and small print in the contract to cover themselves for any situation. Our things came 1 month after we were originally pick up and most items and boxes were damaged and we had a few missing items.

The whole process was extremely stressful to deal with. Route 66 lied to us and made promises that they didn’t even try to keep! After the whole mess, they don’t want to take responsibility for anything since they were “not” the actual movers!

Moving is a stressful process to begin with but this company made it horrible. After reading all reviews and BBB complaints about them, I don’t know how they are still in business!

Stay away from them if you don’t want to end up regretting the day you contacted them!
