I recently used PODS moving and storage for a cross country move. I contacted PODS to set up the initial delivery of 2 large containers. The initial phone call to set this up took approximately an hour, that should've been my first warning. They informed me that I did NOT have to be present during the delivery of the empty pods. Due to their availability and my own prior agreements, I was not able to be present during delivery. That turned out to be bad. I was forced to leave an important work meeting to sign paperwork from the individual delivering the pods. If I did not leave my work meeting, they would not deliver the pods that I had already paid $450 for and it would take another 3-5 days before they could "re-deliver" the pods, that I already paid for. That was not an option. Therefore, I left my meeting. Upon arrival, the delivery man informed me to call and make an appointment immediately for my packed full pods to be picked up as it normally takes 3-5 days for them to be delivered and/or picked up. Knowing that we needed to be out of our house by a certain date, I did so. The first container was picked up as originally scheduled. The second container, however, seemed to "fall through the cracks." I called PODS to see why they had not picked up my 2nd container. They told me they did. I asked them how they could have picked it up since I was looking directly at it? 4 days later they finally picked up the additional container, ultimately 6 days later than originally scheduled. The containers spent 2 months in local state storage and after my husband and I decided that we should take a cross country job transfer, we had the containers shipped. It was $5500 to have the 2 pods shipped 2000 miles. Being that it was a job transfer, my husbands employer paid for the pods shipment. After spending an hour and a half on the phone with a PODS associate and my husbands boss, whom gave the payment, the pods delivery was set. It did take the PODS associate 6 times to put the credit card and billing information into the system correctly. PODS had assured me that the credit card information from my husbands boss would NOT stay on file and continue to get billed for monthly storage fees, although time would prove that they did keep that credit card information on file and the employers credit card was charged for a month of storage after the cross country move. Now that should've been another sign! The 2 containers did successfully get from Colorado to Florida!! That was a huge relief! The containers continued to stay in storage in Florida until my husband and I found a house, approximately 2 more months. When we found a house, I immediately called to set up a delivery. Of course I knew it would take a few days for delivery. I set up a date(1/8/16). Due to some hiccups with the home closure, I was forced to push back the date of delivery. Bummer! The day that I knew we were going to have to wait to move into our new house, I received an email from PODS stating that they were doing a website and system update/conversion and that no deliveries or pick ups could be scheduled or rescheduled! I of course panicked. I called their customer service line and was able to talk to someone and get the pods delivery rescheduled last minute!! I was so grateful!! The containers were scheduled for delivery 3 days later(1/11/16). With PODS you will receive a conformation email and phone call the night before, stating the window of delivery or pick up. I never received that. I knew something was wrong. I called immediately. At this point, their system conversion was complete and they told me they had no record of my containers needing delivery. The person I spoke to set up a new delivery(1/12/16). I was, again, very grateful. But, once again, I did not receive a confirmation email or call the night before for the new delivery. I called again. And once again, they didn't have a delivery scheduled. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager called the local facility and ensured me that the containers would be delivered on 1/12/16, like originally scheduled. So you can imagine how "thrilled" I was when 1/12/16 came around and my containers were NOT delivered!! Oh, at this point I was pretty livid. Not only had we spent $5500 on a cross country move with them, we also had been paying $450 a month in storage of the containers, September to January. That's a total of $7750. I would expect for that kind of money that there be more organization and reliability. I expected wrong. Period. I called the evening of 1/12/16 and lost it on the phone. Not one of my better moments, but everything about this company continued to go wrong! We were on a time crunch as well. We were flying back to Colorado on the evening of 1/13/16. We needed those containers delivered ASAP, as we were not going to leave them sitting on our driveway for 5 days with our ENTIRE home packed inside of them. The person I spoke to that evening stated they were going to try and get ahold of the local facility, again, and have a delivery for 1/13/16. She said she would call me back with more information. Guess what? She never called me back. So, I called again. This time, the associate I spoke with couldn't answer my questions and so they "transferred" me to a manager. That ended up with my call getting disconnected. Ironic.. I called again, that associate tried to get in contact with the local facility and assured me they would call me back and inform of my delivery for the following day. Again, I never received the call to confirm the container delivery. At this point, I just gave up. My husband and I decided that he would still fly back to Colorado and that I would cancel my flight so I could be in Florida when the containers were delivered. You can imagine my surprise when I received a call from PODS at 8am, on 1/13/16, stating that the first container was out for delivery and expected to arrive at my new home at 10am and the second container for noon!! I was happy and shocked at the same time. My husband and I were able to unload 2 large containers in 4 hours and still manage to make our 6pm flight!! I didn't end up having to cancel my flight like I originally thought!! I was so thrilled!! I called that day to have the empty containers picked up. The scheduled pick up of empty containers was for 1/18/16. Well, I bet you can guess what happened?!?! No confirmation call or email the night before.. I called, again they said they didn't have a pick up scheduled!! How can all these errors happen to one person on one order?? Baffles me!! So, I schedule another pick up for 1/21/16. The 2 empty containers were finally picked up on 1/21/16. If you think my horror story is over, think again!! With PODS, you must pay for your storage in advance. My payment was automatically withdrawn from my account on the 12th of every month. Even though my containers were delivered to my new home on 1/13/16 and picked up on 1/21/16, they still charged me the full amount for a month of storage! No credit given on the unused dates for the billing cycle. I just didn't care about the money anymore and just wanted to be done with this company. Well, I looked at my credit card statement on 2/3/16, I have another $450 charge from PODS. For what?? I don't have anything in storage and I do not have any of their containers sitting on my property. I have received 3 emails from them. First one said that I was overcharged and I would be receiving a credit, that was 1/22/16. So I assumed that was the credit towards the unused remainder of the month/billing cycle. I then received an email on 2/5/16 stating that they made an error and didn't charge me so they were now charging me, that explained the $450 charge on 2/3/16 that I saw. Then, once again, I get another email on 2/6/16 stating that they did over charge me and I will be receiving a credit. I have yet to receive this credit. This credit would be for storage for the month of February, even though I didn't have storage. This still doesn't rectify the fact that I only used their storage for a few days in January and was still charged for an entire month. This entire experience was a DISASTER!! I would NEVER in a million years recommend anyone using this company, EVER!! There are plenty of other companies whom provide the exact same service. Please tell your friends and families to use a different company.
Unhelpful, poorly trained people I have ever dealt with- canceled my delivery with out telling me PO.
I graduated school at the end of December was interviewing in a few different places. Using POD storage unit until I knew where I was going seemed like the perfect solution. And it was, until I tried to get my stuff back. Then they became the most unhelpful, poorly trained people I have ever dealt with.
After signing my lease for apartment, POD was the first call I made to set up a time delivery time. Over the first week, I talked to many different customer service agents who all gave me different instructions on what I need to set up a delivery (not the mention a quote to ‘drop-off/ pick-up month’s rent/ and delivery when I was clear they already had my stuff and I just needed a finale delivery quote). The calls went something like this:
That first weekend: Pull your customer # and call back (this one seemed pretty standard… I called back in a few mins). No now we need the last 4 digits of the credit card # (OK fine, but why couldn’t the first person tell me that?)
By The End of the week: Oh yes, we can see that this is your account, but we have it set for a local delivery not a long distance. You are going to need to start over with a different department. (WHAT?!! I’ve been telling everyone what I need done….No one said it was the wrong department….and at no point was this a local move)
New Department-Yes, we have you account and that delivery date available. But, I’m sorry; you’re not the contact name we have. Can you get [My Mom’s name] to set this up for you? (Again, I identified myself by my name on every other phone call….where was that bit of instruction??)
My Mom calls the next day, and they can no longer deliver my POD on the requested date because it was a long distance move and it will take a another 2 weeks’ notice. We schedule it as to not lose the opportunity, but are still looking for a quicker/cheaper way and are told that it can be cancelled up to a couple days before.
I start getting phone call, repeatedly, about an unsigned document on their website. But the ‘unsigned document’ has not been uploaded to my account. When I call to explain this, I am told the agreement is singed!! This is wrong for two very important reasons:1) I haven’t singed it. In fact, I am on the website as I call back. Still not even uploaded. 2) If it is singed, why are you robo-calling me?
Last night, I call to cancel the delivery because I have still a few days to do so, and I have plans to be in the original city (Jackson) in about 2 weeks anyway. It seems cheaper to just pick up my stuff while I’m there and driving back here (Atlanta). I have already paid to replace a lot of my belongings since I got my apartment about 2 weeks ago and need to live in it.
- I call to cancel, and he ask when I want to delivery set to? I explain that I don’t because I will be visiting Jackson in two weeks and plan on getting my stuff myself. He confirms the cancellation and then again asks about rescheduling, and again I explain that I will pick it up myself. Then I ask him about accessing my POD when I get into Jackson. Turns out my stuff has been sitting at a POD storage unit in Atlanta for over a week!
The delivery issue wasn’t long distance because it was here before the first request delivery date. Just not here at my apartment. I might not have been able to move my furniture myself….but your telling me I just restocked my kitchen while all my old stuff was 30 miles away? Shouldn't I be getting some kind of tracking updates?
I guess I can’t cancel a few days before because I have already acquired part of the moving fee. Again, that would have been good info upfront.
Why in the world was I not told the POD had been moved BEFORE delivery was canceled? I told him I was picking my stuff up from Jackson. I clearly didn’t know that it wasn’t in Jackson, but he did and canceled my delivery before disclosing that.
I say never mind, if it is in Atlanta, go ahead and deliver it this weekend as scheduled. At which point they guy says ‘I’m sorry that delivery date is no long available, how about (insert date that is past my monthly rental deadline and will cause another month’s rent)I don’t mind paying another month’s instead of the delivery, but now I am being charge both? Even though I called and cancelled before the set delivery, like I was told I could do?
Now let’s talk about some training issues that would have made this all go better:
1- the first person should have been clear; what department I needed, what information I needed, and who should call.
2- I could have been given updates when my stuff was transferred so that I knew it was here, and at what point I was being charge for that.
3- The guy I talked to last night should have told me that my stuff has already been moved before cancelling! He knew I thought I could get if from the original location.
- I could not agree more with the guy who said " they will hold your stuff hostage" that is what I feel like right now. The first part, general run-around I can deal with----- But to have my delivery canceled without being told it was already moved is inexcusable!!
We packed a POD the end of May in St. Louis, and we were supposed to receive our POD on June 27. The POD was not delivered on June 27. When my husband called, the company apologized for their mistake and said they would deliver it soon. After four phone calls, they finally gave us a delivery date that was two weeks after they initially promised to deliver our supplies. They said that July 11 was the soonest they could deliver our POD.
Tomorrow is July 11. When we did not receive a phone call about our delivery tomorrow, we called to find out about our delivery. The company apologized again and said that although it was clear from the computer notes that our POD was supposed to be delivered tomorrow, the employee did not actually schedule our delivery for tomorrow. The employee said he would try to deliver it to us tomorrow, but if we couldn't get it tomorrow, that the soonest they could get it to us would be this Saturday.
I have never been so disappointed or duped before in my life. Chooseing PODs is one of my biggest regrets for my move and I have never experienced more unprofessionalism, lying or miscommunication within an entire organization in my life. They were only responsive and helpful and kind until they received our credit card information, after that, it was a horrible game of being passed back and forth where I could never get ahold of a single person to answer any questions. I was promised gaurantees that their employees are apparently not allowed to do which is against their policy such as garaunteed pick up times, drop times and delivery dates. They also failed to write detailed notes within my account, and even if they did, the notes were never acted upon. My pod was delivered with water damage, late, and things were damaged inside. I filed an incident claim and my experience with following up with the claim was just a continuous experience of being passed back and forth, never getting any information or upates on the status of my claim, and I was also transfered between agents who never reached out to me to let me know that they were now handling my case. It has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish once they took my money and their level of kindness, clarity, transparency, honesty and professionalism has been an absolute disgrace. I have been actively telling everyone considering using PODs not to and will continue to due to my personal experience that has been dragging on and on with them. I will be shocked if I ever hear from from any of their customer service agents in regards to my incident. It is very important to note that we chose this company over another due to their blantant lies that they sold us which was clearly stated to me from a senior agent that was strictly against their company policies, many agents were incredibly rude, combattant and unreasonable. I have never been so digusted with a company providing this sort of service in my life.
I got the 16 feet POD listed to be good for a 3 to 4 bedroom home. However it is a lot smaller than it is advertised to be. My sofa could not feet upright due to obstruction by the beams on the top of the pod. About a half of the things I wanted to put in there did not fit, including two bedroom sets, a refrigerator, office furniture, and two love seats. The guys that helped me, I got via the PODS.com website, they were horrendously slow, and inefficient in using the space available, so that may have been a factor. The POD was delivered two days late, with no explanation provided. So I had to alter my moving plans quite substantially. Overall I am very displeased with this company and would not recommend it to anyone.
So my POD filled with the contents of my home got delivered today. Unfortunately, the POD door is now broken. While I can open the door, I can no longer close and lock it - pretty important don't you think? PODS sent someone out to look at it but apparently they are unable to fix the door onsite. They were finally able to force the door close and lock it but I was unable to do the same. I'm not a 250lb guy and I'm simply not strong enough. It's clear something happened to the door in transit because I was able to close and lock it myself previously.
I called customer service again and they had 2 suggestions:
1. Live with it. Apparently, being able to secure the contents is not important to them.
2. They would bring an empty POD out to replace it but I would be responsible for bearing the cost of unloading the original POD and reloading it into a new POD. Certainly inconveniencing the customer and causing them to incur more expenses due their equipment malfunction make perfect sense doesn't it?
Bottom line, their equipment is broken and they put all the blame and responsibility on to the customer to deal with it. Unbelievable. Supposedly, a supervisor is looking into other options and will call me back. I'm not holding my breath.
Contrary to their selling points, I do not have ready access to my belongings, my contents are not secure and I have zero control over the situation.
Where do I begin? First the driver hit my house with the POD. Placed the POD in a difficult place to load. Then scheduling couldn't find a date for 3 weeks to pick up the container. We (myself, my husband, the new owners of the property) all tried to explain that the only place to put a second POD was in front of the first POD. We tried to change dates so that the second POD would be delivered after the first was picked up- they couldn't do it. Delivered the second POD anyway. Schedule pick up for the first POD was a week late. They showed up and then left with no explanation - we assume because the second POD was in the way - DUH. After calling 6 more times and getting different people - they said they sent a driver out but decided the bill was late so didn't pick it up- however the account had a valid debit card on file- they just hadn't charged it. And why would you send out a driver before checking the account balance??! I am still trying to get a pick up scheduled to move a POD that is sitting on property I haven't owned to weeks. I have yet to talk to anyone in this company that isn't a complete idiot and I've probably talked to over 20 people. They have the most useless customer service. I will never use them again. There is another family and two realtors that have got to witness this. I hope they spread the word far and wide.
I planned to use PODS for a cross-country move. My container delivery was scheduled the day before a snow storm. They cancelled the delivery in anticipation of snow (the sky was blue and the sun was out at the time), and did not call me to notify me of the cancellation until after the delivery window. They rescheduled my delivery four times due to the weather, which was understandable, but promised I would be one of the first deliveries when they resumed their schedule. They did not deliver the morning deliveries resumed as promised, but gave a delivery window in the afternoon. They did not actually arrive until an hour after the delivery window. When I called to complain, I was told delivery windows are not guarnateed and they would not provide any discount or compensation for totatally wasting my day twice. Moral of the story, if you have infinite time on your hands and no other things on your schedule, it will be fine. If you have any sort of life or schedule, go with someone else! Even my delivery person (when the pod finally arrived) said the company has gone totally downhill since being bought out two years ago. A major disappointment!
20 hours before we were scheduled to move my husband was admitted to the hospital for chest pains where he remained for five days. 1. The moving guys recommended by PODS on their website (specialists in weight loading and distribution) cancelled 15 hours before they were supposed to arrive, six hours after my husband went to the hospital. 2. They referred replacements "we don't endorse." The new moving guys were nice but inexperienced in loading, weight and distribution. 3. Due to these factors, I had to order an additional PODS unit. When it arrived, I was asked to move my car. Then, I left our garage door open and went inside. 4. The drop-off driver for PODS entered my garage and took two dozen new moving blankets (new in package with UPS shipping labels) purchased from PODS and delivered by UPS. The driver admittedly took my husband's leather moving gloves and new rope (in package) from my garage. 5. PODS said they found no record of these blankets. I gave customer service the UPS tracking numbers and credit card receipt for these blankets. After this, customer service stopped taking my phone calls. 6. I left customer service a message about filing a police report against this driver when he failed to return these items as stated. In response, I received four harassing phone calls from the drop-off driver's supervisor who accompanied the drop-off driver back to our home when the last unit was picked up. I felt threatened. 8. I filed a police report for stolen items and harassment and received police case numbers. I was unable to spend the first four days of my husband's hospitalization by his side. I was unable to eat or sleep for several weeks after this experience. I still get nauseous over it. I never received a refund for stolen blankets, never mind stolen gloves and rope. I haven't felt well since our move and have not pursued this issue---yet. I think this is what PODS counts on; that moving time is exhausting and follow up is difficult.
We relocated our art-deco furniture store from Sacramento to bakersfield and used PODS moving and storage. We had to pack the storage container ourselves but saved us money in the end because we did not need to pay for movers and moving trucks. Our broker gave us a PODS discount code at http://businessbrokerjournal.com/pods-promotional-code which helped us save even more when it came time to unload and settle in to our new location.
Michelle & John Germaske.
I used Pods to move our family from Tennessee to Colorado and they did a good job. They showed up when they said they would and were very friendly. The Pods quote can be a little confusing - I think this is the source of many other reviewers frustration - but read it carefully and the price they will be charging is clear. And definitely use a promo code to save about $40 - 'R101' worked for me. My belongings had shifted a bit during transport - but this was our own fault for not packing things tightly enough. I would recommend Pods if for no other reason so you don;t have to load and unload twice instead of once during your move.
I discovered the day before my deliver that the initial sales person fail to input my time perference within the data base system which was 7 am. I'm moving to another state with a child, going home to 2 deaths in my family within two different locations. That sales individual made things extremely difficult for me in such a way that I was disappointed in the fact of choosing POD and refuse to recommend their services to others. Not that it really matters to POD as a company but it should as a customer.
Where to begin? I seldom write a review unless the review is superlative or, in the case, a prime example of what is wrong with customer service in America. So this is one of those perfect storm situations. The short hand version is that I used POD' service without incident in the Fall of last year to move my elderly mother's belongings from TX to VA. All went without incident then. Fast forward to present, the problems began with the very first customer call experience (quote with the wrong price and wrong location furnished). About half dozen phone calls later (from my end), they finally got it right. I mean what can be so hard about replicating the prior service plans? Then it got worse even though we had made travel plans 4-6 weeks in advance so as to make the stress for a senior citizen as low as possible. My wife flew to Texas pick up my Mom in time for the first POD delivery though it was delayed because of weather .. which I can completely understand. Then after the weather passed, POD then sent the incorrect sized POD. Matters got worse. The POD call center manager was exceptionally rude and dismissive to my wife (wish I had gotten her name). So we now had to pay cash to a moving crew not just once but twice for no shows. Thankfully, a nice call center person called Heather made a point to resolve the matter and indicated a price adjustment would likely by made by the accounting department provided I could provide an invoice for the out of pocket. Days later, the originally ordered POD size shows up and was in beat up condition but functional. At last! Since I had no moving team invoice from a cash basis crew, I did insist they generate one the 3rd time around for POD's accounting department. And this crew did do so and felt I was complying the with spirit and intent to the POD request. About a dozen calls later, the POD accounting department has refused to honor that invoice because it occurred after POD incident one and two. I would say that their accounting department went to great lengths to provide friendly nothingness to assuage my concerns despite two incident numbers. Worst of all, my wife ending up missing a week of work (unpaid) as she runs her own business. That economic impact was compounded by my mother and wife having to fly back versus the original plan to drive my mother's car back..which now needed to be shipped for $650. Net net, we paid almost $2000 to be abused. So my sole recourse was to call the credit card payment and relay this story and demand satisfaction. Which I just did..only to have these Bozos prematurely dispatch collections on my and not resolve the issue in good faith. Never again with POD. CEO owes my wife, my elderly mom and me a personal apology and I am making it my mission to call out wretched, unfair practices and behavior. For shame!! ps - I am saving this writeup to post and warn others elsewhere.
It will be impossible to recommend POD’s to any family, friends or business associates due to the inaccurate quoting, billing and customer service that they provide. The PODS themselves never fit the actual room sizes that they say so you should always expect you to have to add-on to your existing order. We are currently dealing with an issue for our international move regarding inaccurate billing and compounding the issue is nonresponsive and inadequate customer service to address the issues. The all-in quote that I discussed with the representative in great detail was materially different then how their billing system ultimately invoiced us for. The billing has been inaccurate and multiple errors have resulted in POD’s billing us for additional costs which were then auto paid on our credit card that was in the system. To compound the concerns we have with the incorrect billing has been the dismal customer service. We started to address the issues in early September and we are now at the end of November and there has been no resolution. We have made weekly calls to their customer service toll free line detailing the issues with several agents with promises and expectations that someone would call us to discuss and correct (THEY HAVE CONTACTED US BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN CORRECTED AND THEY ARGUED WITH US OVER THE QUOTE). The billing was so inaccurate and full of charges and refunds that it took a full day to reconcile the account to where it should be (28 LINES SHOULD HAVE BEEN BILLED, 81 LINES ON OUR ACCOUNT WITH ANOTHER 23 TO CORRECT THE BILLING). I will say the crew who do delivery and pick up of the PODs themselves were awesome! But based on the overall cost and customer service I would recommend a full service move.
Within 24hrs of posting this review to Yelp I received a call from an Executive Resolution Specialist. We thought finally we would have resolution but this person has been rude, belittling and completely awful. Laying all blame on us and taking no responsibility and not even apologizing for the mess they have made. DO NOT USE PODS!
Fraud, false charges, lies to costumers, no shows for deliverys, and not picking up pods.
About a year ago I had been dealing with a very big issue. I had talked to over 2 dozen different customer service representatives, 4 account managers, and emailed cooperate. No one could help me get to the bottom of this. Well some would say they did but it never happened. I had been billed incorrectly and charged for redelivery fees that never happened. I would talk to a representative and they would say sorry and fix the charges to then receive a phone call saying my items were up for auction. I had already had my pods dropped off and unloaded one pod sat out in front of the house for 2 1/2 weeks due to the the pods not fitting in my driveway. One was on the street in front of the neighbors house. They said they would be back the next day to pick it up and didn't show for weeks. I kept getting phone calls saying that my stuff is going to be put up for auction when my stuff was already in my house and I have been moved in for over a week. Every time I called customer service to schedule a pick up they said my account is on hold for a past due balance. I did not have a past due balance I paid all my bills on time because my credit card was on file and was automatically debited every month. I called pods and arranged a drop of for the pods for February 6th and they never showed. (I had emails to prove all this). The pod never arrived I called and they said a drop off was never scheduled! So I had to schedule again for the following Saturday because they couldn't deliver pods that day. So that made me have to live in a house with no beds or kitchen supplies for a week with three kids. No furniture or cooking utincels!! After my pods were delivered on the 13th I received an email saying that my account is past due for a very large amount and they charged me redelivery fees (which I never made any redelivery's) and that they were putting my stuff up for auction but they never showed up the first date I arranged! I told them I have my stuff and already moving in. They told me they had no record of it and a week later they said I asked to redeliver on a different day! All of this is lies and FRAUD! They didn't even know I had the pods and was moved in. They continued to call and claim a balance was past due for redelivery charges and my stuff is being sold at auction. I would tell them my stuff is moved in and their pod is out front empty waiting to be picked up. They would say sorry and promise to fix it and arrange a pick up. After two weeks of this, all I wanted to do is get the pod picked up. It was empty, all of my stuff was moved in and it had been out on the street for 2 1/2 weeks. I had tickets from the police for it being there (which I got waived thank goodness). I contacted so many different cooperate people thru emails and phone calls. No one would return any of my emails or left messages. They finally picked the POD up 2 1/2 weeks later and never heard from them again until last night (almost exactly a year later) I got a call at 8pm that I was sent to collections over a past due balance of redelivery charges..I'm so upset it's been a year after this night mare and it's back. I will NEVER use pods! I'm going to court tomorrow to file an action against them.
This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. The lack of communication between facilities and representatives is abysmal. The representatives are preprogrammed to give you the same repetitious answers. I prearranged everything 3 months before my move date. I received a 2 hour window late on the afternoon for my POD delivery date, and then received a call in the morning that it was being delivered that morning, well before the scheduled time. I left an appointment to rush home for the delivery. The POD was loaded and ready for pickup on the assigned date, but no one came to pick it up. I watched from my window during the 2 hour period it was to be picked up, and continued watching. I started calling Customer Service the next day, Sunday, to find out why no one came. The supervisor I was eventually connected with made every effort to contact someone in the Boston area. Much to my dismay no came until late on Monday. I received no call, but I watched to entire process from my apartment window. The next day I received a call from a POD rep stating my POD was delivered to the wrong facility, and it would be delayed getting to Nashville. When I tried to get a date and time, I was told it would be updated on line. Finally I was told it would be delivered some time on Friday, five days late from the original agreed upon Monday. When I tried to get a time window I was told that wasn't possible. The new apartment complex required scheduling a time for the loading dock. Not knowing a time, this became impossible. All calls to PODS were futile as I was consistently told there was no way to arrange time windows. I finally did get my POD delivered onto the street. Luckily Diamond Movers was very accomodating. Alex rearranged schedules and sent two men to unload my POD. They never complained even though they had to move everything from the street to the apartment in the heat of the afternoon.
When I asked PODS if they could pick the POD up the same day they dropped it off at my apartment complex so I could schedule a time for the unloading dock, I was told that would be an additional charge. This company does nothing to help you. I even bought my own moving blankets because their rental fee is higher than buying them.
In summary, I just received a call stating I would receive no compensation because it was my fault the POD was picked up late. They stated the POD was blocked by cars. This is completely untrue as there were pylons blocking the spaces on either side of the POD. Someone made a mistake and then tried to blame it on me, the customer. This is the worst type of customer service I've ever encountered. I assume they do not base their business on repeat customers. No one needs this added stress when trying to move. I would have been happy if any attempt had been made to help me during a difficult situation rather than blame me. One final note, this apartment complex does not recommend them either.
Called to schedule a POD delivery weeks in advance and was told that my credit card would be billed 5 days prior to delivery of the POD (spoke to Chrissie). Upon calculation of the square footage in the POD, I determined that I would need more area and called back to request to add a 7' POD to my already existing order for a 16' POD. I was told that there would be an additional $1950.39 charge on top of the already $3260.07. This would place having PODs above a FULL SERVICE MOVE!! Ridiculous. Immediately, I told the representative (Travis) that I would have to consider other options, because of the lofty price. He told me that I was welcome to do so, and that there would be no cancellation fee as long as I cancelled within 1 day of scheduled delivery. I called and set up a different company to deliver storage units, and called to cancel the PODs on 07/15, the same day I spoke to the other company and made arrangements. I just received a bill in the mail and checked my credit card statement. PODs still charged me the initial fee prior to delivery. When I called, I was told that the representative should have told me 5 BUSINESS days prior to delivery, which is actually 7 calendar days. I mentioned that it wasn't helpful to find that out now, and that I needed the money back on my card to use it for my move. They told me it would be 2-5 business days, despite the other company coming on 07/20. Then, a manager was put on the phone (Trey), who told me that it would be 3-5 business days and that if I called to file a dispute charge with my credit card company, I would be charged twice since his associate had already processed the refund although I wouldn't have access to it for the next several days. The inconsistency and charges were something I had read about prior to booking with PODs, but I did talk to a couple of people who had positive experiences, so I decided to give them a try. NEVER AGAIN!! I am thankful they are not moving my items and will post an update to this once my move is completed, so that I can give an honest evaluation of the company I am actually having to move and store my goods.
PODS is a horrible company with unresponsive customer service. They appear to be unable to respond to customer needs and misled me every step of the way including costs, pick up arrangements and delivery date. I moved across country with my family and they gave me an estimated date of arrival that was 9 days off. It took another week for them to pick up an empty container but they kept telling me they were coming sooner. Blatant lies and misrepresentation. I can handle someone telling me it will take 9 days; I can't tolerate someone giving me false information or telling me what I want to hear and have nothing happen. OVER PROMISED and UNDER DELIVERED. Never use them! A nightmare!
I cannot seem to get a straight answer on anything when I contact PODS. Everytime I call I have to wait with annoying hold music to talk to someone only to be told they can't help me and I need to be transferred to another department to wait with annoying hold music again and be told they can't help me. It's like Dante's outer circle. They give you the run around and no one follows up or actually cares about helping you. Everytime I call I get a different answer on everything I feel like I'm on a game show to measure the capacity of human frustration.
In addition to wasting hours upon hours of my life with their hopelessly incompetent "Customer Service" team, my main beef with PODS is a financial one. HOLY HIDDEN CHARGES BATMAN. When quoted the amount it would cost for my cross country move they quoted me the pre-tax amount. They also failed to disclose that I would be charged 2, yes 2! whole months of storage at $205 apiece for using the POD for 13 days, because the days spanned two different months and they don't prorate as a policy. I bet they dont. So I've now paid over $600 more than what I was quoted between the unmentioned tax and the 2 months (for 13 days) storage.
They are now saying that they will not deliver the POD unless I pay an additional $180 delivery fee, also, never disclosed to me. (see a theme here?) I am moving to an urban city and have had to acquire special and expensive moving permits (that I had to go to City Hall for!) for my specific move dates and have hired movers on the most moving active day of the whole year. They essentially held my property hostage and said they just "wont show up" if I don't pay them the $180 fee (somehow not included in the $2400 I already paid to move the POD) That is extortion!!
I think it is DISGRACEFUL to treat the customers that have chosen to do business with you in this way, gouging them, giving them the run around and holding their property hostage. PODS is a disorganized, greedy corporation that doesn't care about their customers in the slightest. On top of the profound stress of a cross country move, I have this to deal with?! From a company I have already paid thousands of dollars to? SHAME ON YOU PODS for making my move a living nighmare. I wouldn't recommend you to my worst enemy.
Everything was ok during my first call to hired them. Of course it was going to be professional. Everything went well for the first stage of charging the service (Drop of container in IL). I call they say ok will be there. They CALL me to let ME KNOW my container was to be delivered between N hour and N on N date. I got my CC charged $400+. I call to ask why so much and they say it was $140-180 for the drop and 1 month of storage. I told them the seller over the phone told me the 1st month was free due to a special they had that month. That! was a lie. For the second stage (Transportation), I call them to deliver the container but instead to my new address to their storage facility since where I live now don't allow containers. They send me an email confirming that stage and my charge of $2,300+. I call today since I never heard from them and their website didn't say nothing on where my container was. To my surprise , she told me the container arrived 2 days ago to their facility and that THEY NEVER CALL customers. Hum, I received calls during every stage except for this one? I said. I even told her their site doesn't even say DATES of anything except when they charge your CC. Now I have to paid them another month of storage in the amount of $305.00. And I'm the one picking my stuff with a truck at their facility.
I will never use PODs again and do not recommend their services to anyone. Very poor customer service. Received 1st delivery of pod which was damaged and wet inside which was picked up and then 3 days later received 2nd pod which had a lot of dirt inside and mud left on the driveway which I had to sweep and clean and remove nails before packing my furniture inside. I was over charged over $500 for both pods for delivery and storage fees and a re-delivery charge for my 2nd pod even after the initial one was picked up (which I was to only be charged for 1 pod that was shipped). After several months (June - August) and calling speaking with account manager then billing supervisor and mgrs. in accounting and customer service issue still not resolved to issue a credit for the extra charges on my card and was charged another re-delivery fee without being advised this was going to change the price that's less than 5 miles away but again never was informed of these fees. Its a rip off and everyone I have spoken to I cannot take their word at all since they do not follow through at all. Still waiting to have my call returned after leaving voice messages and calling wasting my time and energy being placed on hold and no warm transfers at all and having to repeat myself again over the several transfers.
First they were in a big hurry to take my money but nothing went well after that. 1. When POD arrived and was picked up from my home in NY the trucks equipment damaged our driveway. They were also later than stated picking up the POD. When the POD reached its final destination they were way earlier than they stated waking the entire neighborhood up before 7am with the backup horn of this giant truck. Then after they dropped it off they told me they could not pick it up for 5 days. (And city law does not allow that long of a time parked)
Overall I learned for all the $$ they charged I should have gone with a bit extra and had a real company just move me.
I ordered a POD for late July but never received a confirmation email. I couldn't access the information online. I called to change the date and the rep looked up my previous order and couldn't find it. We concluded it had never gone through. So, we opened a new order. It turns out that the original order HAD been recorded, but they had the wrong email address, thus I never received any information. I did not confirm the order, nor did I complete the online contract. I never heard from PODS in any way. So, they went and delivered the POD that I had called to cancel and that they told me hadn't been recorded in an order. Then they charged me $660 for delivery.
I disputed the charge through my credit card company. PODS went and re-billed me, adding ANOTHER $685 to my credit card, while the dispute was in process! My credit card company got me in a 3-way conversation with a PODS dispute specialist. This fellow claimed that they had no phone record of my call when I called to cancel, though they had a record of my initial call to place the order! They conveniently lost the critical recording. He was also a bully, so much so that my credit card rep told me I could exit the phone call while they dealt with him.
In the end, my credit card company caved because they don't have the recording of my canceling the order. And just last week, PODS re-billed me for the second charge--the storage charge of $685, which is completely fraudulent as they picked up an empty POD that they never should have delivered.
In summary, they delivered a POD that I had tried to cancel and charged me for it, conveniently lost the record of my call, and followed up by billing me for storage of the POD. They never confirmed the order, I never signed the online contract, and they misplaced the original order so I had no access to it. They then followed up with a fraudulent storage charge.
At this point, I have contacted an attorney because PODS has clearly acted with deceptive business practices and now my credit card company is complicit in allowing them to bill for a service never rendered.
I've talked one friend out of using PODS and I will be sure to inform many, many more. They may get $1,300 from me, but I will make sure to cost them much, much more in lost business.
WOW! The level of deceit associated with PODS Moving and Storage is off the charts. I am really surprised they haven't been tapped on the shoulder with a Class Action Lawsuit. This company and its employees will say/quote you one thing and then completely turn around and do the opposite. I have been doing some research into PODS and found there is a PATTERN of them doing this to several of they're customers. Be ADVISED, if you chose to deal with them get everything in WRITING! They DO NOT SAY WHAT THEY DO AND DO NOT DO WHAT THEY SAY! If any firm/lawyer would like to spearhead this lawsuit please contact me. For the level of unscrupulous business practices I have been through with these snakes is ASTOUNDING! They take advantage of people in times of high stress while moving and hope you will just go away quietly while they profit profusely. Be warned PODS for I am sure it won't be too long before someone corrects the high number of customers you have CHEATED!
I had moved 1000 miles from state to state. I had to change my container to a much smaller. From my understanding, I was still charged the fee for the larger one. They refused to pick up container when I needed them to. Pick up was scheduled to their convenience, not mine. (yes I gave them plenty of time), hince my container sat in the driveway for little over 2 weeks in hot, humid Texas weather. They failed to contact me that someone had parked their car in my drivway in front of the container, which needed to be reschedule. They never reached out to me about any of the problems we experienced. I continually called for all updates. I was promised a review and compensation. I didn't know it was demied until I did their survey. Again, no communication. This horrid customer experience was my first and last time using POD.They have no interest in maintaining loyalty nor satisfaction of their customers nor quality of their business. My opinion is they lack communication skills, organization and frankly showed no compassion nor cared about the situation. I will never recommend them to a single person.
