Oxygen thief

This company are exploiters, self center, Their behavior would be called 'self-serving.

I booked them 2 weeks ahead and request a move include packing and load, unloading at new residence, I was told boxes and tapes is provided .

Here’s what happened they showed up no boxes, no tape and had to go to home hardware to buy materials I observed the driver packing pictures frame one agains another stack up in the box with no padding or materials between when I mentioned to him his reply when it’s tight nothing move, the were supposed to start at 9 am they didn’t start till 10:00 the driver was always on his phone and telling the other guy what to do I had 80 percent of my items packed it took them 4 hours to load and they packed 3 boxes when came time to unload the driver stayed in the truck majority of the time and talking to bystander and also the talking to the ambulance people totally lazy, it took them 3 hours to unload he was just milking me taking every pennies he could get.

When bill came and mentioned that he was late he mentioned that is written in the contract that they’re not responsible if late due to traffic he wouldn’t let me talk and kept arguing with me totally disrespectful. The next day I got called by the cleaning crew to let me know that a cupboard was left with many of my items.people need to know about them.

I was charge $47.83 for 5 boxes, paper, and tapes, they used 3 boxes and hardly used any packing paper, they used all my tape that I had.

Pictures include lamps damages packing paper remaining almost full.

I was bill 7 hours plus boxes and tape UNBELIEVABLE and if I didn’t pay they were going to keep my furniture remaining in the truck.

They will use any excuse you can think of bunch of oxygen thief.

They need to lose their license in order to stop stealing from customers.

Your truly.

Ottawa 1 mover barely spoke English. The other spoke none.

Absolutely abhorrent! Deliberately destroyed everything because I would not pay what the 2 movers charged above my contract quote.

In Canada, you must pass grade 5 English to get a work permit. When I commented on something (like smoking inside the truck with my belongings) the one guy said. "no understand".

The accountant sided with the movers and they refused to deliver my goods until she found out I had a contract (Megan).

The guy told me they (2guys) could not get the sofa thru my door. I, a 5'3" woman, did it myself.

The movers yelled at me in their language, stood over me as they yelled and intimidated me. I went to get them coffee, despite this, and they threw/unpacked the truck in the few minutes it took me. I could not get in the house or on the porch and bins and boxes were shattered. It was pouring rain and over 1/2 my stuff was outside.

No exaggerations, no vile language except by movers.

We can guarantee that our employees would not deliberately destroy everything because a client did not pay. I'm sorry to say but this review is a big exaggeration. In Canada you do not have to pass grade 5 english in order to get a work permit, just because someone does not speak proper english does not mean that they cannot get a job.

Brilliant Movers!!

Communication with booking was clear and prompt. Our move was not easy, with a lot of awkward furniture and stairs. The team was polite, wore masks, and was transparent with their communication. And they worked extremely fast! I had to follow up with them for a minor issue after the move, and they handled it fast and professionally. Overall, if I lived in the area and needed to move again, I would have called O Canada Movers again. Their pricing & flexibility is unmatched.

Scammers and extortionists

They ripped me off bigtime. The final price was 10 times the quoted amount. They only tell the final price after its loaded and your property is held hostage. They don't protect any property with moving blankets. They don't even use straps to move appliances, just dollies that smash holes into walls and scratch the appliances. They don't apologize for anything. Customer service doesn't return calls. Avoid this company at all costs.

We at O Canada Movers use government scales to weigh every clients items. It usually comes as a surprise to our customers when the weight is more than they think it was originally because of what the client thinks the items usually weigh.

Long-distance move from Welland, ON to Gatineau, QC

Move from Welland ON to Gatineau QC

Wow. Where do I begin. This was my 1st experience with a long distance moving Co and I can tell you that I will NEVER again use their services. The quote I was originally given was way off. I sent pictures of my big pieces and was given an approximate cost of 2700.00 which was more then initially quoted so I emailed them and was told they always exaggerate the quote so not to worry. They quoted me 11500 pounds based on pictures I sent of my big pieces. I thought ok so I budgeted 3000.00 thinking for sure that I had put enough aside for the move. The movers were late but no big deal. They were nice and since one of them had been with the company over 8 years I asked him how many pounds he figured I had. He said he couldn’t tell me until everything was in the truck. That should have been my first clue. Many hours later, he gave me a paper saying I had 18000 pounds and NO he did not have anything to weigh it he said that was based on his professional experience. My stuff is all in the truck so what can i do at this point so I called U-Haul and they did not have any trucks available or I would have gotten the movers to unload my stuff and I would’ve used a U-Haul truck instead. So my hands were tied at this point as my house was sold and my stuff had to be out and I was starting a new job the Monday. So my end bill ended up costing 6375.00. This is outrageous and they did not weigh anything. There was no way I had that much in there. Now you think that’s it? No, of course not. There was a mix up in my delivery date but no big deal. They showed up on the Saturday after 6pm and OMG what a nightmare. They damaged my stairs, the wanted to dump everything I. My living room because I was their 5th house that day and they were tired. I said hum no. You are suppose to bring things where I want them. So they started to unload the truck which they parked right on the grass without asking and of course damaged my front lawn. Then they dropped a big plastic bin which opened and scattered all over the place and the guy started laughing and said awe nothing broke. Of course he didn’t look at my stairs which they damaged. Then they started to bring all my outdoor stuff in so I said hey wait, that goes outside in the shed only to be told nope, everything comes in here. Are you kidding me?? Are you serious?? They unloaded my snowblower INTO MY LIVING-ROOM. Who the hell does that? By then I was ready to cry I was so disgusted with the whole experience. I told them to bring the snowblower outside so they took it from the truck inside my house, through the dining room and into the back porch. Oh there is more but I won’t continue because it is making my blood boil thinking about it. They forced the legs off my ultramatic bed and now 2 of them can’t be screwed in anymore so my bed cannot be used, they damaged my stairs, they broke one of my kitchen stool and many of the items in the boxes were broken. In conclusion I am trying to put a claim through for the damages they caused to my bed, the stool and my stairs but guess what? Their voicemail is always full and nobody answers the phone. What a shock. Professional movers?? More like a Mickey Mouse Co. A very disgusted and unhappy customer.

Not to professional

This company is not reliable. Reserved a truck, company says they tried to contact me for pickup appointment, said they couldn't get a hold of me , so they cancelled my pickup and kept my deposit. I sent emails, with no response. Very unprofessional. Not reliable. Not recommended. I think this company is just trying to make easy money. Scammers. Be careful.

Terrible

Whatever 5 star reviews that are on here are fake , listen to all the poor ones. This company is a straight up scam. They will quote you a good price that’s supposed to be all in but it’ll end up being double. They showed up 3 hours late , loaded our stuff then disappeared for hours with it all until they got exactly double what the quote was. Complete scam and bunch of con artists. The one guy especially was a complete moron and constantly raging in a non English language and was very rude the whole time

This company is terrible and do not hire them! Read the bad reviews first!!

Company needs to be put out of buisness cause they suck! Don’t waste your money of these clowns!!!!

Broken contract: property held ransom until over double was paid

This is a warning to steer clear of O Canada Movers as they are not a trustworthy company – do not trust O Canada Movers. I am diligent with quotes, accurate information, and respectful communication – so I don’t say this lightly, but you need to know that O Canada Movers play an unethical game.

Despite multiple emails assuring me that other negative reviews were spam and clear confirmation that I would only be charged what was quoted in the email – I was charged over double as a ransom.

On September 28, I was quoted $400 in total for my 500lb move – and was assured this would be the total “all in” cost. I also sent the online listing of the 2 appliances and received a response that I would be charged as promised.

I paid the $200 deposit with multiple email confirmations that the total would be $400.

On delivery day, I was asked for an additional $859.65 (for a total of $1059.65) for a 1000lb move minimum. I talked to customer service and they informed me that management did not care about the email confirmations and that my property would not be delivered – AND that I was still being charged additional costing during the time I was advocating for what I was promised.

Customer service finally got management to agree to honour the 500lb minimum, but not the $400 total I was promised – so they charged an additional $786.20 ransom, making the total $986.20 or over double what I had been quoted/promised and what was confirmed over multiple emails.

I submitted a claim form (as requested by customer service) to have my file reviewed. This was submitted on October 8, 2021 with a request for response by October 15, 2021. It is now over a month later (November 14, 2021) and, despite multiple reminder emails and calls for an update on the review, O Canada Movers have not responded – a clear indication that they do not care about their customers or their promises.

Never showed up and stole my deposit

I hired them to move me in November 12th 2021. They won’t tell you when they’re arriving until the day before (they have until 5:00 to inform you)! They cancelled, truck broke down. They were unconcerned with the situation. Told me to go get my deposit back ….the day before my move! We argued back and forth and they agreed to move me the next day after I worked all day. They were to show up at 5:30pm. They didn’t call me until 7:45pm! Not a text, phone call, nothing. And who knows where they were, how far away they still were, when they called. They left me stranded. And then REFUSED to refund my deposit. They are a fraudulent organization that doesn’t give a crap about you. And they won’t show up and then they will STEAL your money. They are the worst - wish I could have rated they a big FAT ZERO.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $650

Official company response

Our company always calls our customers the day before the schedule move to inform them of the time or drivers will be there. With everything in life there are unforeseen events that may happen, which was the case with a truck going down in our fleet. Our company made arrangements to deliver immediately the next day. The client had to work which prevent our company from booking the morning appointment slot we set aside for her. When the customer receives her booking confirmation all the information regarding the deposit. Our customer has not stolen anything from the customer. The customer cancelled the move.

Worst experience!!! Don't hire them!!!!!

This company was booked to move my retired MIL this past sat. They were booked for 9am. She got a call that a truck broke down and they would come between 2-4. They showed up after 5pm looked at her stuff and said she had too many things. If wanted them to move her stuff it would cost $2000! She had a bed, 2 dressers and like 20 totes. So they left. Leaving her with no option and not being able to leave her rental. Also they have yet to return her $200 deposit or return any of the calls to them. Now she can't afford to hire movers.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $200

Official company response

At O Canada Movers we believe in being transparent with our customer, their are times when customers my under estimate their belongings. Our movers will let the customers know they have more than the quoted amount, to allow the customer to make the decision to either go ahead with the move or to cancel the move. If the client choose to cancel the move the movers continue on with their daily schedule.
