Long-distance move from Florida to Illinois

Florida to Chicago.

Willy and his crew in Florida were wonderful to deal with. They were extremely careful with everything, professional, polite and fun! When the truck arrived in Illinois Willy and the crew here were just as wonderful. Everything was delivered safe and sound and the crew was just as courteous. Thank you Aaron at National Van Lines for all your help and assistance with changes and tweaks along the way. You made the move a very calm and peaceful one!! Thank you!!

Local move within Ohio

Damon Clark is Fabulous.

We moved our son from Cincinnati to Fayetteville. First job for him after college. Damen handled all our son's belongings with great care. Obviously, just starting out there wasn't a whole truckload of household belongings, but Damen was so careful and packed everything so well--I was thankful. Another mover would just throw the "little" job in and only give great service for big, whole-house moves. Not Damen. He was careful with each piece. Even the bicycle stored in a compartment under the truck was carefully stored and unpacked. Great attention to detail, extremely efficient, and on schedule. can't say that about other moves and movers we have had!

Long-distance move from Maryland to Georgia

Best Movers Ever!

National Van Lines provided the best service ever. I've done several long distance moves due to being military. This move was personal and an out of pocket expense. I requested a quote and was immediately contacted by Marsha Stegall. Marsha was patient and answered all my questions and eased any concerns. The movers packed my household items and valuables as if they were their own. I received the same treatment once my items were delivered. Most importantly the estimated quote I was given was what I was charged. Couldn't ask for better customer service and treatment of my household items!

Long-distance move from New York to Nevada

Our Move From New York to Las Vegas.

I was concerned about having my furniture and belongings being driven across country, but the minute I met our driver Jim I knew that our stuff was in good hands. He made me feel very comfortable as soon as he walked in our door, and when I watched him and his helper take my furniture out of the house, and they were being very careful with everything, I knew I didn't have to worry at all, and my furniture and belongs were in very good hands. Everything arrived in Las Vegas on time and in the condition it left New York! Marsha Stegall was also very helpful! No matter how many times I called her before the pick up date, she always answered my questions and calmed my fears. My items were treated like they belonged to our driver Jim, and for that we will always be grateful! I would whole heartedly recommend National Van Lines to anyone who is making a big move. Thank you Marsha and Jim!

Long-distance move from Milton, VT to Eugene, OR

Cross country move.

I began the process with some trepidation, but my experience with National Van Lines has been overwhelmingly positive. From my initial conversations with Aaron Bacon, who absolutely nailed our moving estimate with a ~1min walk through phone-video, to the driver, Damon Clark who navigated tricky pick up and deliveries with amazing skill, we have been very pleased with the process. Damon and his crew, Mike and Lamar deserve extra praise. They were available by cell phone in transit, contacting us with delivery estimates and offering flexibility when our new housing had some unexpected delays. Damon even texted us photos of our newly packed house as he arrived before we could and had to deliver with us half way across the country. I'm very grateful to have worked with these skilled and talented professionals. They made a challenging move manageable every step of the way and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Mill Valley, CA

Chicago to San Francisco Move.

The entire process for my family was exactly as planned. The biggest issue we had was they made if from Chicago to San Francisco faster than we had anticipated, not a bad problem to have.

The crews that both moved us our of our old home and into our new place were great. They worked fast but carefully and put up with my 2 year old getting in the way once or twice. All in all, I was really pleased with how everything went and would use them again without question.

Long-distance move from Aurora, IL to Las Vegas, NV

Don't Trust National Van Lines.

I had National Van lines move me from Chicago Illinois to Las Vegas, Nevada. They are the worst. Not only did they let my stuff sit on a street unwatched and unlocked in a truck, the lost some very valuable items including a grandfather clock, laptop and cordless power drill. Then they refused to stand behind their service and sent a check for $35 to cover the costs of the things they lost!

Avoid at all costs!!

This company is the biggest scam. They make you sign for delivery telling you that you have nine months to file a claim but then once you file a claim they tell you that you confirmed that all your items were there upon delivery. Completely unprofessional employees and I would avoid using them at all costs!! Biggest rip off. They lost items and refuse to compensate us for them.

Long-distance move from Laughlin, NV to North Augusta, SC

Moved precious Items.

I inherited some of my Grandparents belongings. I entrusted NVL in getting these items moved safely across the country. My furniture arrived on time and the driver, Dave did a phenomenal job unloading the truck and placing everything in the house. He was very nice and so easy to work with in getting all my precious pieces in the house. This was a wonderful experience and I thank NVL for taking care of these very important pieces of furniture. Also, both Aaron and Dave stayed in constant communication with me and kept me informed of the delivery date and time as well as the final cost. My final cost never differed from the estimated cost. This company was well organized, well priced and very customer friendly. I was well taken care of as was my furniture. Thank you!!

Great move.

Had to move from Florida to Kentucky. Read a lot of reviews and did a lot of searches. Decided to go with National Van Lines and made the best decision ever. Everything went smooth and painless. Fantastic communication with the agent ( Aaron) and with the driver (Roger). Furniture was very well packed and protected and received it in 5 days in perfect condition. Very convenient the paying online option. I would highly recommend this company.

Long-distance move from Albuquerque, NM to Silver Spring, MD

Long distance moving.

I spoke with several moving company for a cross country move. Steven Pohl from National Van Lines contacted me. He came home and gave a binding estimate within a day. We were not sure of the exact move date. He followed up every week and worked with our dates. Once we were ready to move he made packing and moving arrangements right away. Steven is personable, understanding and easy to work with. He returns calls right away and answers all your questions.
Roy and Ester did the packing for us. Very efficient and nice people. They did an excellent packing job and also very fast. They are a good team and have been doing this for more than 25 years. They had a methodical approach and packing was completed on time. When I saw a few items missing from the garage I called Steven, he understood my concern and assured me that it will be found. Ester and Roy didn’t take this personally, they also understood my concern. Believe it or not they knew exactly what I was talking about and in which box they packed it. They opened the box showed me the item and re assured me.
Andrew, Nick Bow and Josh were the moving crew, they did an excellent job in packing all the items tightly in the moving truck. They also made sure that heavy items go on the bottom and lighter ones on top. They handled all the special items with care. Again fast loading and unloading done very professionally.
I am using them again to move items from the storage unit in CA to MD. I will recommend them to all my friends and relatives. I have had bitter moving experiences before but this team is A++.

Long-distance move from Atlanta, GA to Denver, CO

Terrible Service and Zero Follow Up.

At first the sales person was extremely helpful. When the move went horribly wrong, he disappeared and sent me to the National Van Line Customer Service team. The customer service name is false. They were never available and never returned an email or phone call. Then they denied the expenses incurred during the 12 day delay. Once the goods arrived I had approximately $15,000 in damage to my household goods. This company DOES NOT stand behind their service. Do not use them!

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to Leonardtown, MD

Be Careful - Be Very Careful.

Moving is a multidimensional project. At one level, NVL did an very good job moving us from Oregon to Maryland. But there are a couple of things to be on guard for.

First, their contracted packers in Portland were, to put it politely, lazy. After working slowly the day before the van showed up, they had to be called back the next day to finish a job that they should have finished the day before. This isn't necessarily NVL's direct fault but it is they whom we hired and were in job.

More problematical is making sure all your stuff gets loaded. After a walk through with the driver before loading and making specific reference to an extension ladder and stabilizer attachment, the ladder did not get loaded on the van. Okay - it was missed. But as it was missed, there was no inventory tag. So in NVL's eyes, it never existed.

We filed a claim for about $300 (note: we took the 100% insurance option). Our claim was denied despite my repeated comments to them that the driver and I had identified the ladder (which was in our backyard) and past which other items were brought to the truck.

The moral to this: do NOT sign off on any papers until you have personally ensured EVERYTHING is recorded and loaded. A corollary is when the goods are delivered, go through each line and cross-check it to the item(s) that are tagged. It is a hectic day, to be sure, but despite the 100% full insurance coverage, if initial something as received in the haste to get things done and later you realize it is missing, you're screwed. There is no negotiation, period.

Some years ago moving to Oregon, we used United Van Lines. This episode left such a bitter taste in my mouth, I wish we had used them instead of NVL.

Long-distance move from Tacoma, WA to Houston, TX

Super easy coordination.

Aaron Bacon was great in planning out the move of my mom's household goods across the country. I was worried about the pick-up end since I lived 2000 miles away, but Aaron made me feel confident that her goods would be picked up on time and without incident. Our mover, Jose, was very professional and flexible on the delivery end, arriving a day earlier than expected, and seamlessly handling two delivery locations. A worry-free, hassle-free experience overall!!

Long-distance move from Staunton, VA to Lakeland, FL

Terrible Experience.

Let start by saying this this moving company was not as good as other people who recommend it to be. In fact our experience with them started off bad as they came to pick out stuff up on December 25th, 2018 to head to Florida. The guy named Uzi started saying our furniture was bigger than mentioned even though a video inventory with Natasha was done and she marking it to be what it was. Uzi charged us more money for a couple pieces of furniture that were by description were correct but he stated they were bigger. While evaluating our inventory Uzi's demeanor was rude and acted like he didn't want to be there.

Based on conversations with Natahsa, we were given a projection of our stuff arriving sometime in the mid time frame of our last possible delivery date, however after countless calls and speaking with Natasha, Kim and other members of their team, they told us they were checking with the dispatch manager and would call us back but never did. Our stuff arrived three week later after being held in storage. To make matters worse we had paid extra for a small truck for the delivery but this was not communicated to the driver which only delayed the delivery of our stuff. Some of our stuff were damaged during transit.

We paid over $3000 for what they considered a small job. We did not recieve stellar service, in fact we would grade them at a 1 star rating on there job, work ethics and customer service. Avoid this company.

Lied about my weight, tried to charge me extra and one week late!

Always ask for a second weight ticket on delivery before and after unload! I moved twice in 7 months, used National Van Lines both times and my second haul was lighter. They tried to tell me it was 800lbs more than the first load.. I sold a some very heavy items so I knew they were trying to take advantage of me. Sure enough I asked for the weight tickets on delivery and they were charging me for 700 extra pounds! If I wouldn't have asked they would have happily taken my money. Oh and they were 1 week late from my no later than date!

Long-distance move from Chico, CA to Dayton, OH

Cross-country Move.

We recently moved from Northern California across the country to Ohio. On a relative's recommendation, we chose National Van Lines as the company to transport our household belongings. Everyone was extremely cordial and helpful beginning with Aaron, our moving representative. He was extremely helpful in answering the many questions we had regarding our move. Our driver, Damon, was excellent, friendly and very organized. Both the loading crew and the unloading crew were very careful with our belongings, as well as making sure protection was provided for both homes. They did a fantastic job moving a 7 foot grand piano, which was our biggest concern. We would not hesitate to recommend this moving company, and we will definitely use them again.

Local move within New Hampshire

Extremely Unhappy.

I am giving a single star only because zero stars is not an option. I contracted with National Van Lines to move my household goods from California to New Hampshire. 19 days later, my goods are still sitting in some warehouse in California. They have not even left the State. Upon contacting National, I am not being told that my items are going to be delivered even later than anticipated. I would not recommend this moving service at all. I am being offered a 50 dollar compensatory offering for my troubles for each day the shipment is late, but this does little to assuage the fact that I am camping in my new house with no household items. Read all of the fine print in the moving contracts and beware of extremely long delivery windows.

Awesome Experience.

I chose National after observing the way they handled my best friend's move. My experience began with Aaron Bacon and everything was great starting with Aaron and extending all of the way through delivery. The teams that loaded me were consummate professionals and I simply enjoyed them as pros and as people. They were very proud of their company and their work. Their pride was manifest in their work. I recommend National in the highest possible terms.

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to Galena, OH

Terrible moving company that doesn't care about customers.

Although National Van Lines was competitively priced, we would not recommend them based on a number of things that did not meet our expectations.
1. On move out day, they sent a truck that did not come close to fitting our 4 bedroom home, despite the fact that someone from National had previously done a walk through of our home to assess the truck space we would need. Within minutes of the driver arriving, he said there is no way they could fit all our stuff.
2. We had to quickly divide our things into essentials and non-essentials since a large portion of our stuff had to go on a second truck. The second arrived one week after our guaranteed delivery date. Although that truck had “non-essentials”, due to the length of time we were without some of that stuff (e.g., our mower), that did become an inconvenience.
3. The movers severely damaged our stairway on move out day number 2 due to carelessness. The movers clearly hadn’t moved a treadmill before, as they didn’t secure the base of the treadmill properly. This caused the treadmill to fold up while they were moving it, literally getting stuck in our stairway, which damaged the walls and railing in the process.
4. On move in day number 1, the movers nearly left without assembling one of our beds. When we stopped them as they were on their way out, they said they couldn’t find the parts even though they were the ones who disassembled them. After more searching, the pieces to the bed ended up being in the glove box on the truck, so had they left we wouldn’t have been able to assemble the beds ourselves.
5. On move in day number 2, the movers couldn’t find the pieces to assemble another bed. Unlike the first time around, these movers did not try to leave without telling us about the unassembled bed. They finally found the pieces wrapped up with our treadmill.
6. One of the truck drivers was unprofessional and offensive. For starters, he didn’t bring money with him to pay the movers when loading, so I had to drive him to the bank. He also yelled at and made mean comments to the movers several times throughout the day. To make matters worse, he also made homophobic comments, which we found to be very offensive.
7. We never received an arrival time for the truck on move in day number 1. We were even on the phone with National the night before the truck arrived and they said we would receive a call with a specific arrival time. The truck driver called us the morning of the move in, saying he had been at the house for 30 minutes and that they were unloading our things into the driveway and porch. We had to rush over to the house (from our hotel downtown, 30 minutes away), which was not the way we wanted to start our move into our new home.

Awesome moving company.

Our move couldn’t have gone any better! Michael Hartung was great in listening to our needs and helping us navigate through the process, keeping us well informed along the way. He was able to get us from Florida to Denver on the days we needed during Christmas break, which was incredible. Our driver Jason Baker was very detailed in making sure everything got here safely. Long-distance move from Texas to Florida

Best Move Ever, Not Kidding.

We were referred to National Van Lines for our household move from TX to FL by their partner company Firefighting's Finest Moving and Storage in Ft. Worth, TX.

This was my family's fifth interstate move so I guess you could say we have experience with the entire process!  It is a stressful, hectic time; and in our situation we had a lot of unknowns, last minute decisions, a short moving timeline and the December holiday season to work around.

In spite of everything, the overall experience of working with Moving Agent Aaron Bacon was truly outstanding. We communicated by phone, text messaging and email. He was quick to respond to questions and provide information in all communication forms. His price quote worked well with our relocation budget; we were able to pay by credit card; and he arranged partial packing help for us through Firefighting's Finest which was super helpful.

In my opinion, it is evident that Aaron enjoys what he does. He was very calm and reassuring in his interactions with me and checked in with me frequently in the process to see how things were going; which I really appreciated. We joked around a lot also; which helped keep my spirits up!!

Our moving van driver Willie Sloan was fantastic to work with. He was extremely pleasant, professional and meticulous in the way he handled the loading and unloading. We received our belongings in FL so quickly we almost couldn't believe it!! The loading and unloading teams on both ends were excellent.

Thank you, National Van Lines for a wonderful experience! .
