Long-distance move from Arizona to Florida

Unprofessional - Deceitful.

My move was from az to FL. I probably should have read more reviews before booking. Unfortunately, I did not and here is the review I left them on my customer survey they sent me, I am sure it will get put in the trash with the rest of their complaints. Several things happened on this move which will ensure I do not recommend you to anyone.
1) I was given a delivery date by the sales person and sent an electronic copy of the agreement. When the driver arrived it was changed to 2 weeks later. I needed my stuff moved that day so I had no choice but to sign. When attempting to contact my sales rep I received no response.
2) I was also told by the sales rep that my shipment would only be loaded once and not taken to a warehouse to be loaded again onto another truck. The driver told me after they packed the items that they would be taking it to a bigger truck to reload it as the driver did not work that day. Great.
3) the driver did not bring all of the necessary items to load my shipment and thus had to take my 50-inch plasma tv and pictures to the warehouse to pack and load them without my viewing, I was told to just sign the sheet because that is how it had to be done.  I could always go to the warehouse and watch them if I wanted. Too bad I didn't plan for an extra trip to the warehouse and had to work that evening otherwise I would have loved to spend 8-10 hours with them.
4) Documentation of the condition of my items was very unprofessional.  I asked where he marked the condition and he said oh don't worry everything will get there the way they picked it up and everything was in good shape. Upon later re-examining through the entire itemization, I started to decipher the letter codes he had put for items and turns out he put scratches for everything to cover himself, even though he told me the condition was good on everything.
Overall the sales and loading was all about deceit in order to get my business, and once you have my items what am I going to do?
5)  the delivery went a little better until I started documenting items that I found chipped/damaged.  The driver tried to convince me that certain things were already there, but now knowing how your company operates, I ignored him.
Next up, filing my claims which I am sure will go swimmingly.  For a $5000 moving expense I will next time sell all of my stuff, buy new things, and avoid the terrible customer service moving companies like this one provide.

Long-distance move from Ohio to Florida

A Nightmare Moving Experience.

RUN, DON’T WALK from NATIONAL VAN LINES! Our experience with National Van Lines was a nightmare. The representative who signed us up just seemed so professional and efficient when we met her. We never dreamed we were getting into a terrible mess. Everything they say in their PR materials and on their website is a laughable lie! We were moving from Ohio to Florida. The big day the movers were supposed to arrive to pack, they never showed up. The next day it took their 3 guys and my husband and myself (in our 60s) working in a sweaty heat to get in the truck – all day until 6:00 pm. The truck was nothing like the rep described it - just one small truck and it’s a miracle everything fit. Then the driver told us he didn’t intend to begin driving to FL for 4 days. Late the day before they were supposed to arrive, the driver called to say the truck was broken down in Cleveland! When I told the driver I never gave him permission to take all my worldly possessions to Cleveland (5 hours NORTH of our departure in Cincinnati) he said “I don’t need your permission”. We called who we could but no one was in charge. Someone named Lisa said she worked for people in Rhode Island, the driver said he worked for people in Illinois. No one knew what caused the break down but we were told that no one could even LOOK at the truck for days.
Quote from NVL website: “Our movers are also equipped with the latest in technology to carefully pack and transport our customers’ belongings anywhere in the world with ease.” I called the rep who signed us up and she said all she could do was tell me how to file a complaint. We didn’t want to file a complaint – we wanted our stuff!  She said: “I never heard from you people before an hour ago.” I told the rep her PR packet reads:  “Your moving counselor is like an architect, possessing a solid understanding of every facet of the moving process.”  Here we thought she was directing the move!  Her entire response to this mess we were in was to send us an email with the email address for customer service.  She was just a salesperson who wiped her hands of us the minute we signed the contract.
Quote from NVL website: “Your items are unique and personal to you, so our movers take the extra time to ensure all your belongings, furniture, and specialty items are carefully packed, moved, and unloaded in your new destination.”
When the truck finally arrived it was a different truck with a different driver, everything had been transferred. The new driver made an elaborate show of having us watch while he opened the seal on the truck.  This was such a joke since this was not the truck that left our house. Boxes marked “fragile” were smashed, an expensive chair was broken. It was clear whoever did the transfer was not interested in the “special handling of fragile items”.
The guys who unloaded the truck were local people contacted at the last minute, not employees of NVL. They were decent, but refused to unpack mirror crates that the movers in Ohio packed. They showed us the movers’ instructions saying they didn’t have to unpack them. We finally got them to do it – it took them all of about 3 minutes. 5 weeks later received a bill for $50 for this unpacking! I never saw such a level of incompetence and arrogance. They obviously didn’t bother to sit down and map out how they were going to accomplish this move.  Everything was done by the seat of their pants. In the end they subtracted $125 for each day longer than the contract allowed. We run a business with our computers and took a big hit for those extra days.  All it cost them was $125 a day to do whatever they pleased with our possessions. This company could not care less about customer satisfaction. They count on folks like us to buy their PR lies and trust them. Of course, they’re not worried about our repeat business -- obviously, this is the last move of our lives.
Don’t make the same mistake we did.  RUN DON’T WALK from NATIONAL VAN LINES!

Long-distance move from South Carolina to Florida

Contracting, packing and moving.

We moved from Charleston SC to Vero Beach Florida.
Our overall experience was excellent from start to finish.
Aaron Bacon started the process with an estimate on our move.
It came in exactly on target. Then the movers came and basically took over telling us not to worry they would take it from here. And they did.
In summary National and their people did exactly what they said they would do. Rare these days, but greatly appreciated.

Long-distance move from Illinois to Ohio

Move from Chicago to Columbus.

Moved from Chicago to Ohio and everything went exactly as planned. Worked with Lisa Varzino and the communication was great. Cost was much lower and delivery time much quicker than other national movers I got estimates from. The estimate was also very accurate. The movers were friendly and efficient. Great experience overall. I will call them first when I move again.

Long-distance move from Texas to Virginia

Outstanding Service.

Outstanding service by National Van Lines started with Aaron Bacon's rapid response to my time sensitive move--he was on the horn immediately looking for a driver to transport my household from TX to VA. But he didn't stop there. Aaron took the initiative to stay engaged and was responsive to my requests along the way. Jonathan Elsis, the driver, was superb--friendly, careful with my property, and efficient. Happy to say my property arrived intact and in a very timely fashion. Moving a household across the country isn't cheap, but this was money well spent. Thank you National Van Lines!

Long-distance move from Wisconsin to Texas

Move to Texas.

I set up move with Aaron Bacon at National Van Lines. Aaron was excellent to work with. He gave us great instructions and his original estimate for our moving cost was reasonably close to the actual cost. Aaron's follow through was excellent as well. He kept us in the loop as far as the actual movers schedule and pick up and delivery dates. He also called us during the pickup, transit, and delivery to follow up and check on things.

The moving crew was great and took good care of our belongings. They wrapped a few items and did a good job with those as well. They unloaded are items and put them where we asked as well. The did a thorough inventory and checked off all items at delivery. They accomplished the load and unload in a timely manner.

I would definitely use Nation Van Lines again..

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Florida

National Van Lines.

Great customer service. Thank you, Marsha Stegall in Chicago. She was patient, listened to my questions, and always got back to me. The local company, Atlantic Coast Moving and Storage was also very good- thanks to Edward and Janeen. Their driver deserves recognition also- he was stuck for 10 hours in NC during winter storm Jonas and still got here on time. I wish I could remember his name. The movers at both ends were polite and very good.

Long-distance move from Texas to Washington

Worst Move Ever.

I've never written a online review of anything, ever. But this.. I just felt I had to. I am a retired military member who has been moving her whole life, but this was the WORST move I have ever had. EVER. The drivers showed up at my apartment an hour late; didn't have the packing materials the needed AND USED MINE, had no idea why the "driving" packet had been mailed to me and didn't know what to do with it..the list goes on and on. My customer service rep who had been working with me told me that there was a "window" for my things to be delivered--around two weeks, which is just ridiculous; however, she assured me my things would be in my new location in about a week. Like an idiot, I took her word for it. My things didn't just take two weeks,, but was actually LATE because the driver didn't want to deliver on the LAST day that they had to deliver, I.e. the last day of the window. He was watching a football game and was drinking. Awesome. After was all said and done, I received a link to a survey that didn't work. I was told I would get a working link. That was a week and a half ago. Haha, fat chance! My things were broken, the service was terrible, and National Van Lines made moving to my dream city a living nightmare. I would give this company negative stars if I could. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do not use this company!!

Great experience with National.

I have had National Van Lines move me and my family twice. Both times they have been efficient, professional and flexible. I trust them to get the job done. Each time they have managed to work with my ever-shifting schedule and invariably given me the dates I needed at both ends (even when last minute changes). I have particularly good experiences with a driver called Fred: great guy who does anything and everything to keep the customer happy -- often beyond the call of duty, to be honest. I have also been especially impressed by our agent for National, Aaron Bacon. He gives extremely accurate and competitive quotes and stays in touch every step of the way to ensure everything is going correctly and solve any problems. A great team effort across the board.

Our Moving Experience.

After checking several movers I connected with Lisa Varzine at National I knew at once our troubles were over. The time tables were exact and from the day our driver John arrived it was as promised. Follow-up on both ends were exceptional. Our driver was a professional in every way. On time nothing scratched or broken. The next time we need a mover there will be no doubt who I will use National. Make the call you will not be dissatisfied.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Wisconsin

Great Move!

I had such a good experience with this company. I scheduled everything through Lisa, who was incredibly helpful and responsive. She really made the whole process easy for me. My belongings (3-bedroom household) were already packed in a storage unit by a different moving company from 2 years before. On the first day, the packers did a complete re-inventory and checked to make sure all of the boxed were packed properly so there wouldn't be any damages during the move. The team that delivered my shipment were really awesome! If you can request Lavell, I highly recommend him! My delivery time was confirmed a couple of days in advance and Lavell (the driver) made sure to ask questions that would help the move-in. They were incredibly positive and helped put everything back together. I would recommend this company to everyone! The only negative part of the whole experience was the second day of packing, the movers were quite late for both pick ups (they had to shuttle my belongings from the storage unit because of the terrain). Otherwise overall great experience!

Won't Recommend this company.

Just received our settlement check for damages! What a rip-off joke! They claim that there was no proof that our items were damaged by them because they couldn't tell what boxes the items came from and who packed them. The driver who delivered the items said there was 90 days to file a claim, because he did not want to stay there while we opened each box to assess its condition. So because of that we are stuck with this settlement. Why arbitrate, life's too short!
The 3rd party company they used, Gorilla packing, was useless. They accused us of not packing half the things, which our agent did not inform us that we had to do. Of course we did some packing but we were paying for the move not National Van Lines!
Even when they unloaded the truck, the two helpers were friends of the driver, not even affiliated with National Van Lines.
This was not our first move, as we moved from Hawaii to Reno, back to Hawaii, to California and now to Washington State. National Van Lines was the worse, but then I guess you get what you paid for.
I presume all the good reviews here are employees of National!

Interstate Move from CA to GA.

Terrific Customer Service!! I moved from California to Georgia in 2015 and my experience with National Van Lines was great. (They also moved me from New York to California three years prior.) Agent Aaron Bacon made the process very easy. He is very patient and will answer all questions you may have. He explains the whole process from beginning to end so there are no surprises after delivery. The Driver - Jeff - was very professional and efficient, and took great care to inventory all my items and deliver them without damage. I highly recommend this company and if I ever move long distance again, National Van Lines is my choice!

Long-distance move from Illinois to Texas

Excellent Move.

I recently moved from Chicago to Texas and everything went smoother than I expected. Aaron Bacon was the coordinator who sent me the quote and kept in contact to ensure all my questions were answered (he'd reply with an hour). He'd also periodically email me to keep me updated on the process and if I had any questions. The movers themselves were all very helpful. They arrived on time, packed quickly, and ensured everything was wrapped so that nothing would break.

This was my first cross country move and I would definitely use them again.

Interstate office move.

I was extremely pleased with my experience with National Van Lines. Our agent Aaron Bacon made the process simple and there were no surprises or hidden charges. The movers arrived about 90 late, but apart from that were very professional and efficient, and took extraordinary care to inventory our items and not damage anything in the process. They also delivered on the agreed upon date only 6 days later; expedient in my opinion considering the 1800 mile distance. Overall very happy, would definitely recommend.

Fantastic Service from start to finish! Marsha was so accommodating from the initial phone call until the final follow up. We were under a tight time frame when we called and she was able to take care of everything to make it all happen. We were assigned a wonderful, competent and service orientated driver, named Chris. He too went above and beyond to get us moved out of our old house and to our new house in an expedient, friendly manner. We highly recommend National Van Lines for local or cross-country moves!

Long-distance move from Florida to North Carolina

Flawless move!

We have never hired a moving company in our 41 years of marriage and it wasn't without trepidation that we settled on National. It was their reputation, reviews, and ultimately price that sealed the deal for us. And now, three days after our move from Florida to North Carolina, we can say how overwhelmingly happy we are with our decision. Alex and Kevin were thoroughly professional and charming and they picked up and delivered on time and in perfect condition. We felt like family was moving us and we couldn't be more pleased!

Outstanding!

These guys were great!
The driver, Brian kept us updated and even arrived ahead of schedule! They were professional and a pleasure to work with.
Honest and reliable as well.

My initial contact person, Aaron Bacon went above and beyond after sharing my nightmare about another moving company. After a few quick phone calls, he arranged for NVL to pick up our belongings from other movers storage center and delivery them to our new home in just 6 days later! He even shared some information on legit fees and moving costs based on the agency that controls movers.
Its so nice to know there are good, honest people out there!
Highly recommend this company -National Van Lines.

A great move.

My contact, Ms. Lisa Varzino, was super. I had a bad experience with a previous move and was dreading this move. Ms. Varzino was able to explain every part of the moving process concisely to where there were no surprises. I appreciate her patience with my questions and she made the move a lot less stressful. Her quote was very reasonable.

The crew who packed and handled my possessions did a fantastic job as nothing was broken and arrived in great shape.

I would recommend National and especially Ms. Varzino to anyone.

For as stressful an interstate move can be, the National team was everything I could have asked for. Aaron Bacon was my moving expert and was extremely flexible and took care of everything that I needed from a logistics perspective. Our driver Chris was outstanding! He is very good at what he does and understands his customers needs. Everything was picked up on time and all of our possessions arrived at our new location exactly when Chris said they would. I would highly recommend that you request both of these professionals for your move.

Long-distance move from Nanuet, NY to Pooler, GA

Stress Free!

There are lots of horror stories when it comes to dealing with moving companies. Thankfully, mine wasn't one of them. From the beginning phases of setting up our move from New York to Georgia with Aaron, all via email and one phone call, to the actual move, went without a hitch. Aaron was extremely receptive, polite and professional. Every email I sent him was answered expeditiously.

The driver of the moving truck (Pedro) was also great to deal with. He was prompt, very respectful, professional and personable. He made sure all of our belongings, as well as our home was treated with 'White Glove Service'. Every item was tagged and accounted for. Before arriving at my home to pick up our belongings, Pedro called me the day before and told me he would be at my house about 0815 hrs. He arrived at 0810 hrs. I was extremely pleased that he was on time.

I lucked out because Pedro told me unless he had another pick-up, my belongings would be the first delivery. And that's exactly what happened. I moved on the 22nd of May and received my belongings bright and early on the 24th. Again, Pedro called me the day before and the time he told me he would arrive is the time he arrived. All of our belongings were delivered and placed where we wanted them. Aside from a nightstand and a dresser that had a few scratches on them, nothing was damaged. This has a lot to do with Pedro's 14+ years of experience. While in New York, I watched him ensure that everything was packed and wrapped properly. I even saw him instruct his workers to unwrap some articles of furniture because they weren't done as good as they could have been. This was greatly appreciated! As for the nightstand and dresser that arrived with scratches on them, Pedro took care of that with no problem. He even took care of some scratches that were already on the furniture before the move. I wish I was paying attention to what he was doing, because the dresser looked brand new!

I don't plan on ever moving again, but if I had to, I would definitely use National Van Lines. And I highly recommend them to anyone. Moving is a stressful process, but I must say, surprisingly, mine was stress free.

Oh and how could I forget to mention, National also offered the best price for our move! Hands down, a 5 star rating!

Long-distance move from California to Maryland

California to Maryland without a problem.

We had an excellent experience moving from California to Maryland with National Van Lines. I have to give a special shout out to Aaron Bacon (I should have asked if he was related to Kevin Bacon..) who was my main contact and coordinator extrodinaire. We had been burned by a low cost mover when we moved from the east to the west coast, and so I had a thousand questions for Aaron. But, no question went unanswered. He literally responded within the hour (usually within 10 minutes) to my myriad questions. He was always positive and charming, and orchestrated our move with the precision of a maestro conductor. They over delivered and came in 1,000 under the estimate. I couldn't be happier.
