Long-distance move from Iowa to Idaho

Warning!! Six Months and Waiting.

WARNING!! Six months and waiting…

Last July (2015), after the death of my father, I hired National Relocation Van Lines to move my mother’s effects from Iowa to Idaho. I spoke with Michael Alexander by phone…I felt I was in good hands. The movers picked up in Iowa…no problems on that end. When the driver dropped off in Pocatello, Idaho, I informed him that there was a second drop off location. He was surprised to learn this so I showed him the contract. Well, he says, yes, it’s on the contract but it wasn’t figured in the price ($3100.75)….I need another $100 cash. First red flag. I negotiated that sum down to $50. I helped him unload…at the end, I told him that I was short a second wardrobe box and a table top. No, he insisted, this is all. Off he went. Well, a few days later Jessica contacted Nick, the original (pick up) driver, who thankfully remembered the second wardrobe box. Finally, someone believed me. Jessica apologized and said that next time a truck passed through our area, the driver would drop off the rest of my load. Ok, I gave it time…months went by…no delivery. Finally, Jessica said that they would UPS the box and table top to me. Well and good, but the shipment was always delayed. Then I was told that it would cost $200 to ship the box and table top…and that I would be required to split the expense. You’re kidding me, right? The contract stated that NRVL would move all for $3100.75 (exorbitantly high for the small load). After all National Relocation Van Lines has put me through (having violated the contract), did they actually think I would send more money?! That would imply trust, which, on my side, doesn’t exist. So, there it sits. Six months later and my ninety-year-old mother props up one side of her desk with cardboard boxes (NRVL has the legs) and uses an old card table as furniture. Do I believe that a truck will one day come through and drop off the rest of the load? Yeah, sure, and in Santa Claus, too.

Long-distance move from Iowa to South Carolina

Worst moving experience of my life.

My family and I have moved several times over the years and have used multiple moving companies and have never had a problem until our last move when we hired National Relocation Vanlines to do our move from Iowa to South Carolina in July 2015. After they loaded our belongings onto the truck, the price had somehow tripled from the estimate given to us by Michael. When we questioned it, Nick, the driver, stated they were well within their rights because it was just an estimate. They never physically came to our house to look at our belongings to give an estimate like most professional movers. They did it over the phone. And when Nick loaded our belongings onto the truck, he never marked our items or provided an inventory of any kind even though I asked for it several times. Nick's response was "That's just a waste of time. You don't need one". When the price tripled and we refused to pay that, Nick told us he would take our stuff to a warehouse while we worked things out with Michael. There was no working things out with Michael or with Jessica. We had difficulty getting through to anyone and they would not return calls. When we did talk with them, they simply said we had to pay the tripled price or we wouldn't get our stuff. So we began saving up to try and get our stuff back. Finally, we began looking further into this company and learned that the reason we hadn't seen the bad reviews was because they changed their names, locations, contact number, etc. so people don't realize what company they are hiring. I learned from the DOT that there were multiple complaints against them and that they had lost their license/authority to operate in September. Even though they had lost their license, they were still demanding payment from us to deliver our stuff, which they couldn't legal do now and they knew that. We confronted them on not having their license anymore and after several more weeks they agreed to let us have our stuff transferred from their warehouse to another moving company, which cost us additional money to do, and then have the new moving company ship our belongings to us. But everything was done in a very unprofessional way. They never did reveal the address of the mysterious warehouse to us. They took our stuff to another location where we had arranged to transfer it to the other company. It took us 5 and a half months to get our stuff back and when we did, several items were damaged. We got our belongings back just before Christmas. This was the worst moving experience of our lives. After talking with an attorney and trying to negotiate but getting nowhere, we actually thought we had lost everything and would never get it back. Don't use this company!

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

My move was a success.

Not only was my move a success but I also paid less money in the end. I was over quoted purposely so in the end I would pay less and I did. And when I say my move was a success, it really was. The movers got to both locations on time and when they said they would. Times and dates never changed and always stayed the same on the quote. The movers were really awesome! They moved fast but they wrapped up my things so perfectly. At the delivery end my things arrived in great condition and nothing was missing or damaged. They even put everything where I wanted it to be. I really appreciated all of their hard work and efforts!

Do not use this company!!

Worst Moving Company Ever a total scam! After I signed up for my move I decided I should look up some reviews on this company!  I found this website and was concerned after I read some of these reviews so I called Michael Alexander Back and questioned him directly about these negative reviews and he had an answer for everything.  I told him that my family has been through a lot and please tell me that you are trustworthy and will not screw us over.  I told him that if we had a great experience I would write a great review and if I did not I will tell everybody I could not to use this company!!  WELL HERE I AM MICHAEL YOU LYING SCUMBAG!!  My wife went room by room explaining exactly what we had including some industrial sewing machines that she gave him the measurements on and he totally under estimated our move.  It cost me double what he quoted and like other people have stated it is a total bait and switch!  Then they tell us the date they will deliver and then the day before we call and they say oh no it will not be tomorrow it will be 6 days later!  Here we are in our other house with no furniture sleeping on the floor and my son on the dog bed for a week and they did not even care!!   Once they get your money and load your stuff you are at their mercy!  Some of the furniture was damaged and I was so tired of dealing with these crooks I did not have it in me to fight about the damage!!  I am living up to my word Michael and writing my honest review about your company and horable lying service!!  I don't know how you sleep at night when you are able to lye to someone's face when they tell you not to screw them over because you have been through a rough time!!  What has this world come to??  I not only had to pay double for another company to get the rest of my stuff I also had to make two trips on my own with uhaul trucks 10 hr drives each way!!  Spend the extra money on a reputable national company because in the long run you are going to spend at least that much or more with these scumbags along with a lot of stress and headaches!!  by the way his original quote was $5200 and after they loaded the truck it was $8000.  That does not include having to pay another company $2600 to get the rest and two plane tickets and two uhaul rentals to get what he underestimated.  ALWAYS GO WITH A COMPANY THAT COMES OUT TO DO A VISUAL ESTIMATE.  THIS OVER THE PHONE CRAP IS JUST A BAIT AND SWITCH!  I feel bad for there drivers because this Michele guy sends them into these hostile situations every day with his Bait and switch tactics!  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!RUN! Long-distance move from Florida to Connecticut

Cancelled delivery.

If yu are a true sadist who likes the aggravation of working with totally incompetent people - this is your best choice! Our move was set for the day before closing - we had to be out - 1 hour before the set moving time - reserved three weeks before, time, got a call - 'the truck (note singular) broke down! can't do it until 4 days from now'. When I finally got to speak with someone after numerous voice mails, they offered NO solution, NO consideration, and still insisted on half down upon pickup, in addition to the deposit that they had already gotten. I immediately cancelled the credit card that they had on file, and demanded my deposit back - fine with them, as they did not seem to want the business. BAD NEWS, BAD NEWS, BAD NEWS - STAY AWAY!!

Long-distance move from Illinois to California

Shut this company down.

NATIONAL RELOCATION VAN LINES PACKED UP ALL MY BELONGINGS ONTO THE TRUCK..ONLY TO TURN AROUND AND TAKE THEM OFF!! You are not reading that wrong. Run as fast as you can from this company. It has been the worst experience ever and they are 1000% to blame. I had 2 very reputable, national carriers come to my home for in home estimates and 1 local company. Each one gave me quotes within a few hundred pounds of each other..nothing at all that caused any extreme pricing differences in the estimates. Michael Alexander, the salesman for National Relocation Van Lines called several times throughout this process and asked me to send over the estimates so he could base his bid on theirs. He came back to me with a bid that literally said "THIS IS A BINDING ESTIMATE BASED ON AN ALLIED HOME ESTIMATE" and we spoke several times about his assurance that there was no way this dollar amount would change. Fast forward to moving week..could barely get a call or email committing our time from this guy. Finally day before, we get a confirmation that our move would be Saturday between 10am-2pm. 6:30pm that night they call to inform us that they will actually not be coming, and that they'll be there first thing Sunday morning instead. Sunday morning they arrive and Igor and I do a walk through. He informs me that I have way more than the 3 guys from completely separate companies that had come in before him had estimated and I should be prepared to pay a lot more than the quoted price. He decided he was going to call his boss to discuss. An hour and a half we played this game where they stood outside my back door while everyone went round and round about how apparently a binding contract means absolutely nothing to this company. Finally!! They agree, binding is binding. And yes, we will stick to the original price promised by Michael.  Who by the way has a full mail box conveniently for the last 24 hours and won't answer any 911 emails. They pack up 99% of the boxes in my house, and then we go the garage. 20 minutes later he walks in and asks me where he can unload all of my boxes because he's decided it's more than was estimated and I've made it clear I won't be taken advantage of..so they're quitting. He throws his backpack on and grabs his stuff and goes to walk out the door to unload all the boxes. And Phyllis, the "Customer Service Manager" who I call to discuss this situation with, agrees that it is totally his option to bail at this point. This company is the epitome of bait and switch. They rely on gametime decisions when they know that with your back against a wall you'll just be at a point where you'll just want it to get done. So you agree to the hundreds if not thousands extra to cover the move of whatever mystery items that have all of a sudden appeared in your home. Honestly it would be more pleasant to throw away every item in your home and buy new than to work with this company. It'd be cheaper too.   For days we called to follow up to get our refund they promised as they were walking out the door.  Not one single person answers the phone there.  And the hysterical part of this whole situation, is a month later, they are still trying to hold on to our deposit, which we will be fighting to the death to get back.  Michael, Phyllis, Igor and whatever shady owner of this companies name is..you will not stop hearing from us.  EVER.  Please take all of these negative reviews seriously.  These people are straight up con artists and thieves.  .

Long-distance move from Michigan to Florida

Terrible Service, still sleeping on an army cot.

A day late picking up, cost us an extra night in hotel. Called for delivery 20 days ago and they still can't provide a delivery date. We have to reach out for any information. They have not contacted us in all these 20 days. Twice, we've been told that our truck is loaded and on the way, but still no delivery date scheduled. This is miserable service.

Terrible customer service.

My husband and I are in the process of moving to northern Virginia. Our moving company, National Relocation Van Lines, accepted our sizable deposit but did not show up as scheduled between 10 am -12 pm on Friday, Sept 18. One of the drivers called and said they would arrive between 5-6 pm and never arrived. After I called several time and left several voicemail, I finally got a call back at 6:45 pm. Our storage facility only allows incoming movers until 8 pm, so the move had to be postponed until the following morning. This caused my husband, an active reservist with the Navy (after 8 years of active duty), to miss a day of reserve duty. Since our items have been picked up on Saturday morning I have left more than 5 voicemail and sent 2 emails hoping to get some information pertaining to our move. They knew our goal was to have our items delivered today and said they would work with us and try to fulfill our timeline. I got in touch with an associate last night (Monday Sept 21) who told me "he has no idea when my things can be delivered." I was assured a representative from customer service would be in contact with me as soon as possible. Today I received another email saying he still has "no new information" pertaining to our delivery date. I was assured that I would receive a call from customer service by COB today to no avail. I tried to call this evening and waited on hold for more than an hour, and have left 2 additional messages without return call since that time. I have lost all faith in this relocation service and would caution anyone against employing their services. I am anxiously awaiting a professional response as to when I will receive my possessions.
