Moving is hard but we turned it a nightmare by choosing the National Moving Services. For 30 days, still waiting for my stuff without any information. Every time customer service is saying that they don’t know where is my stuff, when my stuff left CA and my delivery date. They are promising for calling back to inform and that never happens. Just want to know where is my stuff right now and when will be our delivery . The guy who loaded our stuff told us that our delivery will be before June 12th, he promised me that is the last delivery date. Today is June 20th and we never received an information about our transportation. When I reached him, he told me that “forget what I said you in your garage, you signed the contract and delays are expected”. My kids, my mom, we are all sleeping on the floor because of we are paying over $3600 and my budget is very limited for more purchases. When I talk about it they are always ignoring my family’s inconvenience and saying because of we signed their contract we accepted the delays. Delays can happen but without any information and with staff who don’t keep their words is unacceptable. Long story short , I talked lots of people in this company, they gave us different delivery times and when it never happened they were not sorry, never excuses, always saying you accepted delays in your contract. All I wanted to know how long we will still sleep on the floor with our limited clothes and kitchen gadgets. I need to study, my daughter needs to study but who cares because we signed the contract and accepted the unknown by paying over $3600.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3725

The company requires a deposit and allows you to cancel within 48 hours to receive your deposit back if your moving plans change. I cancelled within 24 hours, sent an email to the specified address, and called the selling agent Emmett.

Three months after canceling the move, I have not received a refund (more than $2k). Despite calling customer service several times, each time to be told either they could not help me or that they would call me back after talking to billing, I have had no luck in getting a refund from this company.

My recommendation: Stay away

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7090

Please for the love of God do not use this company. They screwed us over big time. Brandon Wilson was the sales representative. I told him I’d be moving TWO ROOMS WORTH of stuff. He then asked me to list what big furniture items I have so I mentioned: two dressers, two night stands, two tvs, a bed, bed frame, etc. Little did I know that list was what he was charging me for and documented that that was ALL I was moving. So when the ACTUAL moving company (I had no clue that National Moving Services was a third party “broker”) came to grab our stuff the price changed from $2,500 to $6,600. I didn’t know I needed to include how much clothes and small items there would be- again I told Brandon TWO rooms worth. He only reported the furniture.

A couple days after my initial phone call with Brandon Wilson, I also asked him to add a couch to our list and update our destination address.. he didn’t even do that. My first call with him was on May 9th, telling him I would need the items by May 25th (moving from California to Virginia). He said I would receive the items by May 24th or the 25th.. come to find out after talking with the ACTUAL moving company, it will be around 30 business days. When I asked how much room on the truck we have, Brandon told me 26ft. My understanding was that we had a 26ft truck for ourselves to pack two rooms worth of stuff for $2,500. The actual moving company said that the truck will be shared with other people’s stuff and then taken to a warehouse, and that everything Brandon documented on the contract was not accurate. The moving company informed me that he sees this happen every day and that they screw people over who have no idea what they are doing. He said to never go through a broker (again I didn’t even know they were a broker). The actual moving company had so many additional charges - for boxes, taking a tv down, asking for a weigh slip, putting cardboard around a dresser, etc. NMS basically takes your money to get you in touch with a real moving company who will then charge you for the accurate amount you’re shipping. Again, Brandon made the situation seem completely different. It was basically a “bait & switch”.

After Brandon from NMS, received my money, he was no longer responding to my texts/questions about details and adding a couch to the list. After I found out all this stuff from the actual moving company, I then confronted him via text about screwing me over. He THEN replied and was incredibly rude (was almost a bit threatening). It was incredibly unprofessional. He told me “learn how to read”. And when I told him I’d be writing a review with his name, he said “good luck”. I was in shock with the disgusting customer service. Brandon provided me inaccurate and false information via phone and text. When I tried to go back to the link they provided so I can look at the quote and re-read their terms, the link was no longer available.. of course. I then emailed asking for a PDF of it, once they sent it I realized they changed the sales representative name to a Frank Anthony- whom I’ve never spoke to. I understand they have written terms in the contract but Brandon should have communicated accurately. My husband is in the military and we were ordered a quick move so we’ve been under a lot of stress - this was the last thing we needed.

NMS is not BBB accredited and there are hundreds of horrible reviews within the past year - all people experiencing with the same issue. I wish I did more research before agreeing to use them. I am furious.

I recently moved from Ohio to Massachusetts. My experience with National moving company was a poor for the Ohio portion.

Unprofessional Movers

The movers for the pick-up in Ohio were unprofessional. It was 2 men. The overweight white man from Kentucky/Hamilton, OH seemed mentally challenged. Within minutes of arriving he asked to use my bathroom and was in there for a very long time. Doing a #2, I guess. Then he was farting all through the move in front of me and my family. After that, he began talking about Nazi’s and Hitler poisoning Jews during WWII with candy bars. (Yes, he actually said that! I was shocked.) He was talking so much that the move-time was greatly extended. For a 2 bedroom apartment, it took them 4 hours. Although my family packed up most of the boxes beforehand. Also, there was not enough room on the truck for all of my belongings. My bookstands, exercise bike, and other belongings were left behind and had to be thrown out. They said the dispatch did not tell them the accurate information about how much room I needed. The mentally challenged mover actually begin talking to my neighbors to give away my furniture instead of trying to fit it on the truck. It was just HORRIBLE!!!

Hidden Costs

The quote I was given was false. The movers actually added over an extra $900 in costs, including an extra $75.00 because they had to walk up a few stairs. The main issue was when I received the initial quote, I called back to the main number to let them know items were missing from the itinerary. Customer Service told me to tell my movers when they get there. This should have never happened, customer service should have updated them and let the movers know BEFORE they arrived at my place. Overall, it was a stressful and poor experience. I would not recommend this moving company to anyone. Find another that is more professional.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3200

The staff was adaptable to my requirements and highly professional. They also offered complete packing services and showed up early on Sunday morning with a staff to do so. I was astounded at how well they handled my items with such care. My belongings were packaged and put away in boxes awaiting the arrival of the next crew. My furniture was completely covered with blankets and plastic. The walls, flooring, and surroundings were all quite well-shielded. The following day, the following group showed up promptly and early! They quickly carried everything to the truck, and we soon left. They set up all of my beds, furniture, and other items when they arrived at my new house, and unloaded my clothes, and other items. I was able to comfortably settle into my new place easily.

This personal move went extremely well. They arrived exactly at the time they had said they'd be there and they immediately got to work. The movers were all quick and professional and everything arrived in tact with no issues, scratches, broken furniture, etc. The total move took less than the time estimated and therefore was cheaper than estimated as well. Our movers were Carlos, Brian and Mike and Carlos as the leader did an excellent job. We'd definitely recommend using them to anyone and would use them again in the future.

NMS sponsors searches to come up high on lists and they talk a good game out of the gate on the phone UNTIL they get your deposit. They under quote cubic feet of items then sub-contract to another gropup of guys with a truck who then double/triple the move costs based on the real items being moved. Also ...those movers expect a tip ...$100's per guy which is not included in any quote nor conversation. Cost me $1,000./

My NMS "clown" actually gave me a free fee discount on a set of stairs when they offer that anyways, they charge if you have 2 sets of stairs ... Basically NMS gets their fee then are un-reachable. David Thomas

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $20000

This company tripled our quote on the day of, yelled at us multiple times on the phone, didn’t come on the day they confirmed they would, then didn’t bring the correct size truck, didn’t tell us the truck would be shared, then said it would take 8 days to deliver when originally they said it would take 1-2. In the end they told us on moving day (after being a day later than they told us) that they couldn’t complete the packing until the next day (a day after we had to be out of the house). In the end we had to book another moving company on the day of moving since they couldn’t follow through on the timing they said they could, and they took our deposit still. We ended up going with California Moving Company instead and they were GREAT. I would never recommend National Moving Services. It’s not even a moving company, they broker movers, but then take no responsibility for what they’ve promised and can’t deliver on their promises. On top of this, when I called customer service to help, they said they don’t help with things like this.

Very professional! We have used other movers in the past and my wife and I were blown away when we went with National Moving Services Inc this time around. They were highly professional, and communicated well. The three gentleman that helped us worked quickly and had a lot of hustle, especially for moving heavy furniture down from a third level apartment. One thing we noticed was that the three movers seemed to have a strategy and worked together to work as efficiently as possible. We will definitely use National Moving Services Inc again if we need movers in the future.

I haven't moved in over ten years. When you ask someone if they know of a good mover rarely they'll know who to recommend. I chose National Moving Services Inc based on the reviews I read. I took a leap of faith at one of the most stressful times of my life. I followed my gut and verbally contracted them after speaking with Luis. I'm so glad I did! This company is how you'd dream the PERFECT moving company to be. They are extremely professional, work very neat and clean. Maintain the same level of from start to finish. The LEAST stress I have felt throughout this entire process was the actual move. They take care and wrap your items as if each piece had a value of a million dollars. I can't say enough about their service. What I can say is if you're reading this review, just stop and call Luis. You'll thank me later. Or at least you'll think of how correct I was in recommending them. DO IT! You won't regret it! Call National Moving Services Inc if you want stress free moving.

It started out with really good customer service from Jimmy. He never did tell me they are a broker instead of an actual moving company. He did say they do about 4000 moves in a month instead of saying they contract and sell 4000 moves a month. The customer service continued up until the day of the move and then they washed their hands of me. They say to call on the day of the move if the dollar amount of the move changes however they don't answer their phones after 5 pm, so I was stuck paying the moving company over $2000.00 more than the original estimate. Also I had no decision rights into who the actual movers would be which has turned out to be a nightmare. They contracted with Moving Wise company which if you look has really bad ratings and reviews on Yelp. I will tell everyone I know that if they call a moving company, the first thing to ask is "are you a broker?" If the answer is yes then HANG UP!

DON'T USE THIS FIRM. It started out as a great experience with excellent service from Dean. However, he did not make it clear that they are brokers and not the actual movers. I was given a quote without anyone visiting my apartment to assess how many cubic feet of space was needed. NEVER HIRE A MOVER THAT TAKES THIS APPROACH. Furthermore, I was told 3-4 men would show up to pack and load and that the truck would fit under an overhang to be able to park near the elevator in my building. The truck was too high and only two men showed up, although they were able to recruit a local helper once they arrived; otherwise they would have never finished packing me and loading the truck in the one day I was promised would be the case. It turned out that more cubic feet on the truck were needed so it left me feeling that the quote I received was a low-ball one deisigned to get me committed before I knew the real cost. I had been told that the move from Mass. to Florida would likely take 4-7 days, but on the day of the move, I was told it could take up to 14 days unless I opted for expedited delivery that turned out to cost me approx. $1,000. Since the cost to stay in a hotel for the additional nights would exceed this cost, I felt I had no choice but to pay this fee. I feel as though I was misled and that I was a victim of a bait and switch process that left me no choice but to pay the additional fees. The final cost turned out to be about double the original quote. Had I been aware of their misleading fee practices, I would have hired an actual mover and not a broker. Despite all of this, the move itself went well and they arrived in four days.

Moving is generally a stressful experience for anyone going through the process. I compared numerous moving companies and services before moving forward with National Moving Services Inc . They have a comprehensive list of trusted carriers that they rely on for contracting to assist customers. I was not happy with the first carrier assigned to my move, and National Moving Services Inc promptly found another that met my desired criteria. There were no hidden fees or surprises upon pickup or delivery from my desired carrier (Sprinter Van Lines). All items were in the same condition in which they were packed, and were accounted for upon delivery.

It was time to move and I didn't know where to begin. Until my friend said that they used National Moving Services Inc , and they took care of everything! So I called them. The process was quick, easy, and hassle free. The movers were on time, courteous, and very neat and orderly when packing our belongings. The move was seamless, and stress free. I was a little nervous about the delivery of our belongings, since I have heard stories of other moving companies, being late and items stolen. But, National Moving Services Inc , showed up on time and nothing was broken or stolen.

My husband and I spoke with the company on five different occasions as we make our moving plans to move a nine hour distance. The company representatives took information about number of rooms, size of rooms, number of cabinets, size of closets, specific pieces of furniture, and the like. In addition, the company assured us they had adequate staffing to come and pack all of our belongings into boxes, load everything into the truck and move out within a two day period. We paid an additional $2500 for them to PACK OUR BELONGINGS INTO BOXES FOR US!!!!! The day before our anticipated move, the company called and informed us our entire move would happen in one day. We repeatedly reminded them that they were to both pack and move us and they agreed this was the case and they would have enough staff. On moving day, the actual movers called to report they would arrive at 11 AM and there were only two of them. They were unaware they were supposed to be packing us and had minimal boxes in the truck. What was supposed to be a more leisurely, yet expensive, experience for us ended up being an extended family, all hands on deck to prepare to vacate our large home in ONE DAY prior to closing two days later. We went to buy our own boxes even though we had already paid them for their boxes. The next 15 hours were spent packing our entire house as they loaded boxes into ONE smaller than needed truck. When moving into this home, two trucks that size were required and the company had this in writing. Nonetheless, they arrived with ONE, promising all would fit. At 8:30 PM, they told us not everything would fit. More family and friends were called and all items that could not fit went into a family member's garage with US DOING ALL OF THE HEAVY LIFTING AND MOVING of this "excess" for which they should have had a plan. The movers finished in the wee hours and tried to get us to agree to several days in delay to move into our new residence. After too much negotiation, they finally agreed to show us as planned to move us in. Because of the excess and great distance, and no promises to reimburse us for boxes, time, stress, etc., we had to rent our own UHAUL to transport the excess and move it ourselves after closing. My husband had to spend money for a flight back to our city in order to assist with all of this. The company demonstrated POOR COMMUNICATION, complete lack of accepting responsibility, did not wish to reimburse us for damaged items --two family heirlooms, and were quite rude when called about our complaints. We will never use this company and will recommend others ANYWHERE ELSE!! They finally offered to reimburse us less than $100 for our trouble. This was our fifth big move and we have never had such a terrible experience. This company also charged more than double the others used in the past. WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!
