Long-distance move from Middletown, OH to Roseburg, OR

Customer Service

I am currently in the process of moving from Middletown, Ohio to Roseburg, Oregon. I have scheduled my move with Jessica Brooks. She was very kind and helpful. I had a complete inventory list of items, I had everything packed is moving boxes ,I had the exact amount of small, medium, and large boxes. I knew the sizes and amount of Bins. All items such as table lamps and Halloween and Christmas Decorations were all packed in bins and boxes. The metal and plastic garage shelving has been broken down and stacked into neat piles for easy moving onto and off moving truck. Mission Moving has quoted me a Moving cost of $4,645. They did apply a senior citizen discount of $400 which brought the Moving Cost down to $4,245. I have paid the $1,325 Deposit and Scheduled a pick up on Friday, May 14,2021.

This morning I got a phone call from a competitor telling me negative things about Mission Moving. I researched the accusations and called Mission Moving with my concerns. I talked to Jessica Brook about it and she got a hold of the Operations Manage,RickSteel, to talk to me about my concerns.

Both Jessica and Rick took my concerns seriously and treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. Rick had me look at the DOT site and there are no complaints about Mission Moving. I came across this site "my moving reviews" and I found that there were a lot more positive reviews then negative review. I read them all.

My conclusions of my research leads me to think that Mission Moving is a reputable company and I am pleased to do business with them. I will give more reviews as this cross county move progresses.

I am looking forward to giving positive updates as the move progresses, but I will not pull any punches if I feel betrayed. For now I gigive them 5 Stars.

Official company response

Hey Cheryl,
Thank you so much for the detailed review, we appreciate you taking the time to do so. It sounds like the inventory was taken very accurately which normally results in a positive experience with us. The most important aspect of long distance moving is communication. Please, if anything changes, or you need something specific with sensitive timeframes involved, please reach out to us so were in the loop.
Long distance moving can be a very competitive industry involving honest and forthcoming mover and some that don't exactly have your best interest in mind. We try to educate consumers as appose to speaking poorly about other companies as this can be extremely unprofessional. As we know you had many options, we thank you for allowing is the opportunity to be part of your move.
If anything comes up or if you have any -questions feel free to contact Jessica or the customer service department.
Thanks again for the review!
Be well,

Scammer alert!!!!!!

Do not use this company under any circumstances!!!! Took our money and never showed up!!! Throughout this process, no phone calls back and the-truck never came! Trying to get our 4000+ dollars back through our credit card company. The scum bags are fighting it, saying they provided the service ? I don’t know how people with any integrity could work for this company. They should be so ashamed

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4000

Official company response

Hello,
We do apologize for the unforeseen circumstances that occurred during you move with the truck getting stuck in MT. This is unfortunately a situation that is out of our control as the broker and we did all we could to rectify the matter. When reviewing the file it appears instead of allowing us to get another truck out to you, you went ahead and made other arrangements for the move. As the contract does state, we do not guarantee pickup or delivery timeframes due to situations arising in which are out of our control such as this.
Please understand we are here to move families and these occurrences are not what we work hard for. This should not constitute some of the opinions that were pointed at us as to being a non reputable company. Unfortunately things happen on the road, this occurs throughout the moving industry.
We do hope you were able to get things situated and again are sorry for the inconveniences.

NEVER AGAIN

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. The absolute worst moving company I could ever go through. Takes at least 2 months for your stuff to arrive. Your estimated day of delivery you give them isn’t an actual estimated day that they will deliver, rather than the day they will take your stuff out of their storage and may or may not begin to move it. Customer service hangs up on you, no managers available to talk to. I asked to speak with a Superviser and was told none were available. There are only 3 customer service reps. They have no idea where your stuff is or when it will arrive when you ask. Elaine, the customer service rep who hung up on me, told me that it could take 2 weeks or 2 months for my stuff to arrive from Ohio to Nevada. Hope and Nate never emailed me back in regard to my belongings. And Cali, another moving rep also hung up on me because she told me she couldn’t help -‘f it was out of her hands. Attempted to contact the movers who put my stuff in their truck but no one has gotten back. And everyone I have called I have been sent to voicemail with no return calls or emails. I beg anyone to reconsider going through this awful company. I have no idea where my things are, I’m currently sleeping on an air mattress in my empty house. Never again.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

Official company response

Rachel,
We're sorry your move poorly, this is never our intention. We can assure you we have a lot more then just 3 customer service reps as we help thousands of families relocation every year. When reviewing the notes on your file it appears when you signed off on the Bill of Lading, the First available delivery date was not listed as next day. In these cases the goods are brought back to the warehouse until that date, we then would have the goods shipped out as to not cause delays for other moves. Prior to pickup we send out a "customer tips and responsibilities" this goes over the FADD, the foreman on site should go over this as well. Unfortunately when this is not selected properly, it is out of our control as what date that the customer lists and signs for is what hold the weight. Again we are sorry for any inconveniences during your move, we hope this message finds you well.

Scammers

Gave my inventory when called about final inventory stuff was left off or sizes wrong. Always wanting more money to take or deliver my stuff. My stuff was tossed around. I have an 82 inch tv I made a custom crate for and when it arrived to new address it was upside down. How and why did you flip it. I gave my estimate and ended up having to pay extra $2000 cuz the inventory list I had given the inventory was missing or mis-sized items. Truck shows up and said all my stuff wouldn't fit it would cost an extra $2500 i I didn't pay that. They came in a 26 goot truck and I got 8 feet of it. They are very careful with there contract like I asked the overs what a shuttle was they told me I wouldn't need it. When they were ready to deliver I needed a shuttle and had to pay extra. They are good scammed.

Estimated cost - $4600

Actual cost - $9000

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $9000

Official company response

Hello,
Sorry to hear the move didn't go as planned. When reviewing the file it does show that an additional 173 cubic feet was added to the existing inventory. This new additional was revised and signed off on by the customer in agreement with the changes and new cost. The notes also show that the potential for a shuttle was discussed at the pickup and customer was aware of this as a strong possibility. Please understand, the additions that occurred during this move went to the movers for additional space on truck and additional work. Mission Moving did not see one additional cent, therefore we had no reason to charge additional money. As stated in the contract, we are not responsible for additional items or misrepresented items as to the actual sizes.
We again are sorry for the inconveniences that occurred, they were entirely out of our control and nothing was done intentionally on Mission Moving's end.

99% Scam Artist

This company, and I use that term loosely, is 99% scam and 1% company. We hired Mission Moving on 8/5/2021 and paid them $4,123.82. When we hired them, we were told that we had 24/7 customer service support for any questions or changes. I called customer service on 8/13/2021 four times trying to make a packing list change but could not get anyone to answer the phone and could not leave a voicemail; their mailbox was full. I tried again the next day with the same result. I also sent an email to the customer service department on 8/13/2021, received a reply from Kali and was told that she could not help me and that I had to discuss it with QA. She told me that she would inform QA. I never heard from QA and could not get Kali to respond to further emails. In the emails I told Kali that they were scamming us, that they were fired and that we wanted a full refund, but she never responded. We finally heard from someone about a month after hiring them, only to be told that they are keeping our money because we violated their contract by firing them. This low-life representative actually threatened to take us to court for damaging their reputation, what a joke. Every word out of their mouth is either a complete lie, or a severe twist of the truth. We have been unable to get a penny back from this scam outfit and will be taking them to court.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $4123

Official company response

Hello,
We are sorry to hear that you feel this way. We have many families moving and there is a process to what transpires leading up to the move date. Every QA call (time to add or remove items from the inventory) is done a few days prior to the first available pickup date. This helps us to not make changes on multiple occasions which is very time consuming. When its close to the move date, customer know definitively what is going and what is not. This is why all moving companies perform this call at this time.
Please know, We have many people m oving every day, there are families that are on the schedule for QA every day who are about to move. We cannot put their move to the side to attend to someone else's move who isn't moving for weeks or months.
Our contract does state that we have a 72 hour cancellation window, after this timeframe the deposit is deemed non-refundable. This is gone over with every customer immensely after booking. Unfortunately, a conscious decision was was made to forfeit the deposit and cancel the move, this decision made by the customer was out of our control.
We are an honest company and will continue to do our absolute best to assist in long distance relocation.
Thank you,

Long-distance move from New Orleans, LA to Miami, FL

Purposely Stacked Loosely To Create Space To Charge Double

Mission Moving is a broker (undisclosed at the time of quote and deposit, and mover with rental truck was hired from Birmingham AL to pick up from New Orleans). I personally love to work with brokers if they have reliable vendors, however, if you read good and bad reviews here about Mission Moving, most likely because people experienced different vendors that "represented" them.

For me, I was quoted at about $9k, and the rep suggested that it was in line with what they have experience with and if not more than enough. He said if we didn't need that much space whatever is used can be adjusted at pick up to LOWER the price.

It was the total opposite.

1., The mover said we are responsibile for paying all the space reserved (I knew that was expected and probably industry standard, but the rep said it wrong).

2., The mover looked over all of our stuff and estimated $16k for another half semi-truck full of space. (So I had to decide on the spot about what to let them pick up and what I should keep because they are not worth to pay to move).

3., The mover was purposely stacking things loosely to create space, leaving several inch gap space between rows, using a king size mattress spring in the middle of the truck to block view from outside so no one can see they made 2 feet empty space behind. (One of the moving helpers told me privately about this and said I wasn't supposed to know about it otherwise he would get in trouble for telling).

4., After picked up, I contacted the rep from Mission Moving and texted him all of the problems experienced, suggested that should be an 3rd party inspection duing transport or at drop off to re-measure my stuff to see how much space they should actually occupy, no one responed.

5., I had an initial quote, paying over $2k deposit, the "verification" quote I took away some bulky items but added more boxes, was charged almost another $2k for deposit. (The person did not spend time to count every inventory with me, I gave him the changes within a minute so he can adjust according to the original list). When the mover charged additional 300 cubic feet on the spot, he said that was not needed to do the second count and pay additional deposit. The "deposits" were all broker commisions. When the driver adds the space that was the money pay to the driver. (The broker wanted can see the $4k "commission" and therefore wanted to charge more for their work to make it justifiable for their labor.)

I end up paying $12k for about 75% of the stuff that was quoted for $9k.

As I am reading other reviews, Mission Moving will respond here according to whatever "notes" they have in their office. It doesn't seem like the customer has a way to respond again after their response so they might have the "last say" on the review.

I would really like to leave a good review for a company who cares to build their reputation by properly handling issues. All I am asking is to re-measure my items so that we all know if the quote was too low to begin with and that I should pay for exactally the amount of stuff ended up on the truck. If the movers were found fraudlently making space in order to over charge then it is the movers bad reputation not the brokers.

Since I was told by one of the movers about the space manipulation, and that no one answers from Mission when I contacted, I believe the problem is real. Please do not try to verify with the inventory list and the actual shipping list, they have no actual value when it comes to various sizes of the items and how the space was utilized.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $12316

Official company response

Hello,
Thank you for the detailed feedback. It appears this move went up quite a bit as to the inventory and items being relocated. During the Quality Assurance call prior to pickup, customer added 250 cf. of additional items. Then later on site there were also additional items not listed on the contract. We would ask, where were the additional items the first and second time we went over the inventory before the movers arrived.
We do understand that things change and customer later decide to take or remove items. However they have to pay for additional space when this is the route chosen.
Customer mentioned that the carrier purposely packed loosely on purpose. This is a carrier that we use constantly and this is the first time this has been brought to our attention. For the helper to say such a thing is beyond us and we would question the validity of this statement.
When the movers arrive they always go over the worst case scenario with the customer if there are revisions prior to loading the truck as to not make the customer feel comfortable with the revision. If there truly was a major discrepancy with the inventory and cubic feet we would ask why the Bill of Lading was signed and the customer agreed to the adjustment of cost? Once this is done we are not able to go over the inventory again as the goods are now in route and the carriers are far to busy to go over the size again.
Please know there is much work that goes into these moves on the broker end, the carrier rely on us for this as to the logistics and scheduling. Money is dispersed into these jobs directly after they book, we have full customer service departments, sales department, verification department, quality assurance department, all of these listed overheads are what goes into the moves and provides the carriers with the business they need to fill their trucks.
We do apologize for any inconveniences or miscommunications that may have occurred on our end. Again, during this unique time for us all in the country, brokers are relied on more so then ever in this industry as we all do the best we can to see that all families are moved in a timely, cost effective manner.

Long-distance move from California to Maine

Poorest experience I've ever had with a mover.

I would never recommend this company or use them again.

This company's sales department is good. They are responsive, friendly and tell you they will be with you through the move every step. Unfortunately once they got our money, they abandoned us, then saddled us with the worst moving experience possible.

* Missed the move date by over two weeks.

* The movers showed up and demanded another 4K to move the contents because there were more cubic feet (I had already paid for the full cubic feet of the full storage unit, how could the contents grow??)

* We had almost 5K in damaged property.

* Sitting on hold for up to an hour to wait for a customer service agent is their norm.

I waited to write this review because I wanted to know if they would step up and help. Well, after almost 5 months of promises to review and assist, they called today and said "you were told wrong, all we will do is have you call the carrier to resolve". "our job is just to put you in contact with the carrier, which we have done".

I pointed out that I didn't hire that carrier, they did, so I would appreciate some assistance. I was told that they did assist in the resolution, they just put me in contact with the carrier they contracted. So here I am, with lots of damaged merchandise, money owed to me and they tell me today they won't help. A) They should be helping. B) They should have told me that 5 months ago when I began asking for assistance post move.

I've moved with professional movers over 15 times and this is the ONLY move that was horrifically handled - or should I say not handled

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $26000

Official company response

Hello,
When reviewing the file it appears the customer had 2 storage units, one holding 1600 cf and another holding 2000cf. This is a large move. To put into perspective the total cubic footage would occupy an entire semi truck. The units were 10x25 & 10x20. When it comes to cubic footage there is always some air space no matter how well it is packed when it comes to furniture, boxes, miscellaneous items.
Also it appears that the customer went with the standard insurance of 10k standard liability @ .60 per pound. This is what is required by the DOT for moving companies to provide. This coverage is minimal especially when it comes to moving a full semi or 2 full box trucks. We always recommend additional coverage to be purchased or to contact homeowners or renters insurance.
Digging deeper into the file it does show extensive notes dating back to may all the way until as recent as yesterday. Please understand we are in the office from 10-6 EST, outside of these hours the after hours service would need to be utilized.
This move took place during the heart of the issues related to the pandemic and shortages in our industry. We are not here to make excuses however we feel this should be mentioned as unforeseen circumstances are simply out of our control.
We do apologize if the customer feel the move didn't go to their liking, this was not our intention going into the move.
If any further assistance is needed, please reach out to the customer service department.

DON’T USE - RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I hired Mission Movers about a month ago and we were going to move from Denver to Las Vegas and it turns out my mom wasn’t able to keep her job if we moved. We ended up canceling a week before we were supposed to move and Rick Steel said that he wasn’t able to refund all of my money only 15 to 20%. Out of $2100. I don’t think so. I canceled payment and disputed this with my bank and I received my money back. Rick however thinks he’s going to get my money back which he can keep on dreaming. He has no reason to keep all of my money being that they have not provided me with any services.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4200

Official company response

Hello,
We are sorry to hear that things didn't work out with the job and the relocation. We do have a standard cancellation policy like most movers and much work goes into the facilitation and coordinator ion of these moves directly after booking. The standard cancellation window is 72 hours from booking, anytime after that is considered a late cancellation and non-refundable as we have already dispatched the job to the carrier. Now when customer cancel last minute the carrier has to find ways to fill the space to remain economically sound for the company. Like the airlines, we always honor the move for up to one calendar year on another move if the customer would like. These practices are standard in just about all moving brokers contracts.

Mission Moving is a SCAM !!! never do business with these crooks

MISSION MOVERS is a SCAM !!!! don't hire them for your move.

Customer Id : K4825347

The contract is going to say they are just a broker and with your initial payment they get their cut then your move is no longer their issue. They are just going to leave you on your own with a different moving company. The new moving company will not respect whatever the amount you agreed with Mission Movers and they are going to ask you a lot more on the day of pickup.

Please don't go by these fake google 5 star reviews given by the Mission movers for themselves. To see their real colour please refer to the Better Business Bureau or Yelp reviews. They have been sued so many times.

I ended up cancelling my move because of the Mission movers and they don't reimburse my payment made.

These are the guys you are going to interact with at Mission Movers.

Ted Roberts who would assure you that the end to end moving is taken care by them and would be available for call anytime. Once you made your initial payment you will never hear back from him.

Chris, Shannon and Kristy Green who are moving coordinators who will make you bounce back from one person to the other without providing any update on the status of your move.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

Official company response

Hello,
We are sorry to see this type of review, this is not what we strive for as a company. We are very clear as to being a moving broker as this is a broker driven industry. When it comes to review sites, unfortunately, folks are more prone to go to the BBB for negative feedback and not positive. When a move goes well they either go to google real quick or we don't hear back. We are in the heart of moving season and do not mean to bounce customer around, however, we do want to make sure people receive the communication they deserve as specific employees are not always available being that we have 100's of jobs on the calendar at any given time.
We will take your feedback into consideration and do our best to improve as a company.
regards,
-Mission Moving

Terrible Service!

Do not contract with these folks! They are unresponsive after payment is made. My personal belongings were left in a New Jersey warehouse and after a month they have still not been returned to me. Their broker firm is even worse and broke my furniture and continuously lied about my belongings being shipped back to me. Each time I followed up on status I was avoided despite me mentioning I have valuable items inside. At this point I don't know if things are stolen. The manager Nate is absolutely atrocious and will not respond to you after receiving payment. His goal is to scam people out of their money (they hike up the price and hold your items hostage until you pay). I waited 10 hours for movers to come on my moving day with no response. They contacted me the next day only for my furniture to be damaged and the materials to fix my remaining furniture left at a warehouse. I urge anyone to bypass them if they are looking for quality service. They are Grade A scammers and thieves!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5200

Official company response

Hello,
We are sorry to see you had a poor experience. Anytime a customer adds items in QA the cost would indeed increase. As stated in the agreement, we the broker are not responsible for broken/damaged items as this is an insurance claim. When reviewing the file it appears that the claims info was emailed out to the customer to file.
