Affordable Movers

They were speedy and did the job in half the time. Very well organized and knew how to pack the trailer efficiently. They were also conscious of wearing masks without pulling them down and maintained social distancing as much as possible. An excellent moving experience.

DO NOT USE!!!!

Horrible! When we contacted Landmark Moving and Storage in FL to help move my disable grandfather from WV to FL. During the booking they made everything sound so good but problems started right away on the day of pick up. We were told that all our items would not fit and would cost an additional $700 on top of the $2,000 already paid. They did not disclose that they sub-contract out to other moving companies to pick up and deliver the belongings, nor did they disclose that it would take so many days. If we would have known this, we would have made other arrangements or packed differently, but instead had to go out and buy diabetic and medical supplies that were necessary until our belongings arrived. When attempting to contact the company, they would not answer the calls from the phone numbers they had on file, but would immediately answer if we called from a number that was not listed on the account. The website also states they have 24 hour customer service which was not the case for us. Once we finally got in touch with someone, they stated our belongings should be delivered within 3-5 business days which later turned into 7-10 business days. We asked several times to speak with a manager and still have not had a return call and its been at least 3 weeks. When our belongings were delivered, 2/3 of our end tables/bedside tables were damaged and one was not delivered at all. The plastic totes we packed our belongings in were so damaged they had to tape around the whole tote in order to hold it together. Other boxes were also damaged and 4 boxes that were delivered were not our original boxes but had our belongings thrown in them. Because of this, there was significant damage to our belongings- most being sentimental. I had to throw away at least one full garage bag of broken glass and other miscellaneous items. It's a shame that a 76 year old man, who has to give up his home because he is no longer able to care for himself, has now lost the few belongings he wanted to move here with. This has been a complete nightmare.

Highly recommended!!

We had everything already boxed up and clearly labeled so it was a breeze getting everything into the new apartment and organized. They even put back together our bed and helped with the sofa. Although they were running late to get to us, they kept in touch with us and compensated us with an extra mover for free! I would definitely recommend and use again.

Long-distance move from Calverton, NY to San Diego, CA

Poor company they brokered my move to an unlicensed & unisured mover

I contracted with Landmark as broker for my long distance move from NY to CA.

) they took my phone calls and deposit rc very quickly now have become unresponsive

2) they never contacted me to give me a move date. I was called 1 1/2 hours before pickup by the mover. I was not ready and was charged additional money for helping package , otherwise I was told it would be weeks before a new move could be scheduled.

3) my estimate mysteriously doubled by the mover despite being exactly what I was quoted.

4) my mover I found out is unlicensed due to DOT and FMCRA pulling their license

5) I have no idea where my belongings are and neither company will respond. I’m sure if they get to my destination they will extort more money from me

DONT USE THIS COMPANY. GO WITH A REPUTABLE MOVER.

Avoid at all cost - review BBB ratings

At the last minute, they informed me that "truck Broke down" I was told the next available pick up time was 7 days later. I had to be out of the house in 5 days. I cancelled and was promised a refund. They stopped answering my calls and emails, so i disputed the charges on Credit card. Their response was full of lies. The breached the contract and owe me over $1200.

I am confident with the details i have sent to Citibank , my dispute will be honored.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LANDMARK!

Landmark seemed like a solid company, and maybe they are if THEY are the one to do the work, but they hired an illegitimate company to handle my move. The company they hired increased the quoted cost of moving by $2000 from what Landmark's quote was, they attempted to steal the 2nd cashier's check I had to cut to cover the cost of the increased rate, they charged me a processing fee for the "returned" check that was "returned" because luckily Chase fraud protection caught it, they did not get my items to me in the quoted 7-10 days, they stored my items at an unknown (to me) location which makes you wonder how much of it was gone through, I have several items that are broken and were mishandled, and 1 item (that I'm aware of now) that's missing. I called the Landmark office to bring to their attention what happened, and it was obvious that they don't care.

Long-distance move from Hopewell Junction, NY to Longs, SC

My move from NY to SC

Where do I even begin...

Ok so we are a family of 4, myself, my husband, and my two special needs daughters. We were making the move from New York to the Carolina’s. Initially we had decided we would rent a truck and do the move ourselves, but the more we thought about it with myself being disabled and my husband having bad knee’s that maybe we would just inquire about hiring movers. Reading the reviews and the horror stories we were so skeptical until we came across the company we ultimately hired.

LAND MARK MOVING AND STORAGE.

Our first conversation was with a gentleman named Lee. We told him right from the start we are on a very tight budget because I am on social security disability and my husband is retired with a pension. He went through how it all works, so we thought. Were the first problem we encountered was he left out many pieces of furniture and inventory in order to get the price that we were happy with for us to sign with him that day. So even though it was still a lot of money for us to spend we thought it was still worth it that we wouldn’t have to do all of the physical labor as well as the drive which was 11 hours ahead of us.

Our next communication was 2 days before the schedule move. This was for a “detailed inventory “ and this is where things went left with this company! Figuring out that the initial gentlemen did not put down more than half of the inventory on the initial estimate and now two days before the pick up I have another gentlemen, CJ going through a detailed list, well needless to say it pretty much doubled in size and so did the price. It was a difference of $3000.!!! If he would’ve done a correct inventory from the start and gave us the correct estimate we would’ve never of went through with it simply because we just didn’t have that to spend on movers. But what are we to do two days before the move when I have people waiting for me in another state and people waiting to move into my home in New York?? We were stuck and they knew it and I assume this is how they make their money. Of course trying to get on the phone to somebody at that point was practically impossible. I had left several messages for Tom the owner but no one was bending over backwards to take a call or accommodate or help me with anything I needed Unfortunately that’s not it, there’s more and it gets even better.

When the actual movers came they were hours late which put our whole schedule off track and had us driving in the dark with two special needs children which was extremely difficult and stressful on them. We ended up having to stay in a hotel because of them being late which again was not in our budget or in the plan we were supposed to drive from one place to the other and they were supposed to be there very early the morning of the move and they didn’t come in till the afternoon. Then the cherry on the Sunday after it taking them 4+ hours to load the truck was, they did not bring a truck big enough! I had another $2900 worth of furniture left in New York, that was the second estimate they gave me to go back to pick it up. How do you do a detailed inventory two days before you’re coming and then don’t bring a truck big enough? Then to have the audacity to want to charge me another $2900? I tried to explain to them we already aren’t going to have our Christmas because of this but I do need to feed my family for the month of December and they laughed. It was also very concerning that I had to tell the movers over and over again to wear their mask during this terrible pandemic with Covid. I have three people in our family that are compromised with their immune system‘s, they simply didn’t care. They had all the cash they couldn’t wait to dump my stuff in South Carolina and be gone. Then to come across everything that they damaged, this experience was devastating. This is an extremely long review but I felt compelled to tell a detailed story of my experience with this company. Finding out much later that they’re a broker they’re not even the actual mover, (my bad) I should’ve looked into it more. We had never done this before. We just didn’t know and of course they didn’t offer that information to us. Well in closing of course I tried calling probably over 50 times before I finally got CJ to give me the final outcome which was “I’m so sorry they’re not going to accommodate you in anyway but they will go back and get my stuff left behind in New York for $2900. I’ve lost my grandmothers China a lot of my Swaroski crystal that was crushed even after it was packed extremely well with fragile all over it and handed off specifically to the lead guy telling him it was my most fragile box. Devastating! This experience has been traumatizing to my family and set us back financially for the next few months. We are in our new home now, we are safe, we are healthy, and today with everything going on in the world I’m just simply grateful for that.

Long-distance move from Sevierville, TN to New Bedford, MA

Pricing changes several times

They quoted me a price over the phone and sent quote by email. Price was $4,0.00.00 To $4,400.over the phone, $4,323.12 in written quote. While packing I got a call wanting to know how many boxes and what we were moving. I didn’t have that information Because we just started packing and said call back in a week. C.J. From customer service called back and I said 100 boxes & I walked through the house, basement and garage identified everything that had to be moved. I offered to FaceTime so he could see what was being moved he said no we don’t do it that way I know your price will be $5,000.00. I agreed and said I don’t want any surprises. When truck arrived lead man walked the house and said your move will cost $7759.00. It was noon, we had to be out of house by 9AM the next day because house was sold. They got me! They had three companies involved, Landmark, Guardian, and MAP. I am sure all three got a good some of money. Landmark sells, subs to Guardian, Guardian subs to MAP. MAP does the move but I paid Guardian. This is a scam! Never use them. Price went from $4323.12 to $5,000.00, to $7759.00.

House Move

They got my name and gave me a song and dance of how they had a delivery in my area and if I could get them back to their home base I could get a good price. Like others that good price quickly doubled and they contracted the move to a different company. My inquiries to the company have been unanswered. Chalk me up as a very dissatisfied customer who would recommend looking elsewhere!

Long-distance move from Paso Robles, CA to Cookeville, TN

Warning

I'll give a quick recap to a months long saga. Moved from California to Tennessee, went through 2 "quality" calls to make sure we were not forgetting anything in the quote, one of them my wife walked through our entire house listing everything. The movers showed up and the bill went from $7,000 to over $15,000 instantly. I understand that we may have missed a couple things after two calls but a 100% increase the day of the move where I cant make other arrangements felt like a hustle. Yes we had a 4 bedroom house but I also know that this company has most likely moved a lot of 4 bedroom homes and could have at least warned me this is the range most of them end up. After that, once the movers finally left at 1am my wife and two kids went to sleep at her parents for the night. The next morning they went back to the house to finish up and realized that one of the movers had broken into the house the night before and was sleeping there! Yes you read that correctly, one of their team had apparently gotten into a fight with his girlfriend and had no place to go so he broke into our home after he saw my wife and kids leave. I called Landmark to figure out what the heck is going on and their exact response to me was " we can not control what our people do on their own time." Flash forward to after they delivered our house to TN I realized that I was missing a couple boxes and two guitars, one of them being a first edition Joe Pass special that I have had for over 20 years and was very special to me. I called multiple times and the response was, "we are looking for it," or "we need to review our security cameras" until eventually I asked for a claim form to report the loss and nothing, silence.

Long story short I would stay away. My attorney advised me to report this long ordeal to The Department of Transportation and the District Attorney. Not sure what I am going to do, at this point I am just happy to be clear of this company.

THIS IS NOT A MOVING COMPANY

THIS IS NOT A MOVING COMPANY. Customer service is amazing. They totally had me fooled. I even gave them a deposit. I wish I would of done my research before I gave them my non-refundable deposit (crap happens). I hired them, no where in the contract does it state "7-10 days from first available date" I found that out over an email DAYS after I signed it. This means you can go up to 10+ days with out your belongings, which isn't acceptable to me and I wish that would of been mentioned to me before I paid them. Long and behold, after I voice my concerns to them about how I did research and was not happy that I found out they were going to use OTHER MOVERS to move us and the BS time line. I was told " we got you the best moving company in Chicago for your move"... sir, I thought I hired you and your "moving company"... not someone in Chicago, if I wanted to do that... I would of contacted the Chicago company my self.

Fun fact, look VERY hard at those 5 star reviews. They are NOT legit. I am not saying this for my own health, I am trying to help at least one person out there to NOT be scammed. They are kind, they are helpful, they make you trust them... but they are not the people you want to hire to move your stuff... mainly because they WONT be moving your stuff, they will sell your contract to a moving company that will do that for them. I believe their real business would be considered a broker.

I'm glad I did my research before I gave them all my money.. which is asked for in cash (or money order).... DON'T DO IT. If a company doesn't take debit... JUST DON'T DO IT, it's a SCAM.

Landmark Moving is NOT a moving company

***Buyer Beware, Landmark Moving is NOT a moving company***

As other reviews have mentioned, this company is deceptive from their first phone call to you until they get your money. They are not a moving company, they are a broker. You cannot insure your personal property under Landmark Moving because they are not the movers. They hire self employed movers to fulfill their contracts. They do not have their own movers who actually work for Landmark Moving, not even subcontractors.

We were looking for movers to move us from one state to another. This company was one of the first ones to reach out over the phone. The salesman, Brian, was trying very hard with constant communication, wanting us to hurry and sign a contract with them. He constantly presented Landmark Moving as our movers. He told us what THEY would do for us, the type of service THEY offered, etc. He promised us everything we wanted to hear in order to get us to sign their contract.

I had asked Brian if the deposit was refundable before we signed their contract, as this was a concern of mine. Our moving time-frame is very much still up in the air. If something came up that we needed to cancel the move, I wanted to make sure that we were not out our deposit. Brian stated that their cancelation policy is this: if we canceled the contract within 72 hours, the deposit is fully refundable. Then he stated that as long as we canceled the move at least before 5 days before our scheduled moving date that we would receive our deposit -10% for administrative fees. Why two different answers?

Also, during our emails back and forth, we were always sent only screenshots of small portions of our quote from Brian, that showed the pricing only. We never saw the entire contract until we "signed" it. Once we received their entire contract was when we found out that they are not movers, but just a broker.

During this same time, we had also tried to find moving insurance to insure our belongings during the move. We went to movinginsurance.com and looked for Landmark Moving. They were not listed as an affiliate. I also received an email from this online company stating that Landmark Moving could not be insured because they are brokers and not the company moving our items.

We emailed Brian after finding this out. Since we could not insure our belongings because they are a broker, we wanted to cancel our contract and receive our refund. In a rambling email that was full of blaming us, trying to make us feel bad on how much time he had devoted to us, he finally ended his email response with "Unreal", and that he had expedited the request to the front office refund our money.

Additionally, you also have to pay your deposit through their website using only a bank account number. They don't take credit cards or any other form of payment. That should have been a red flag... Because of this, I emailed the company again and asked when we would be receiving our refund, and how would we be receiving it (check in the mail?) I received an email from someone named CJ stating since we didn't cancel within 72 hours, our deposit is not refundable, but then asked if we would like to reschedule our move with them. I forwarded CJ the email from Brian where he states the deposit is refundable. We asked for a response by the end of the day today. We have heard nothing. My husband has called numerous times and nobody will answer the phone, or come to the phone.

Since this is their stance, we have already filed a dispute with our bank, reported the company to the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint with the DOT. I expect that the complaints filed with the BBB and DOT will not phase this company because they have had 20 BBB COMPLAINTS IN THE LAST YEAR, although they have only been in business for one year. They also have an "F" rating with the BBB.

It is a good thing that we have a lot of emails and text messages to back up our claim with our bank so we can receive our money back, as Landmark Moving are nothing more than scam artists.

It's all about the Benjamins

I canceled within 72 hrs. but got no response. It wasn't until after I contacted the BBB that I got a call back saying I missed the window and would get nothing back. I am not the only one they have done this too. Make sure you can afford to lose the money if you fall for [NAME EDIT] sales pitch. If this are veterans it sickens me how they are will to prey on those they swore to protect. I stopped my check and my credit union was able to get the money back. It took over a month for them to respond in the BBB that I had taken my money back so didn't need a refund. I wanted to make sure people knew I was able to recover my money...but it was a struggle and the responses from the company were snarky and unappreciated. Look this group up on the BBB before using so you are aware of what could happen.

DO NOT USE THEM. FRUAD

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are a broker that will make you believe that they will be doing your move. This will act like they care about you and your things, and will end up giving your contract to a nobody company with a 0 rating and your things will get destroyed. They will tell you they will give a white glove service and guarantee you that they will see you through your move, and at the first sign of problems they will avoid your calls, tell you you have to take it up with the company that shows up at your door and that you had no choice but to use. Danny made a ton of promises that he did not deliver on. My family and I completely got played by him and his company and we were a 12000+ move, not a 2000. Again do yourself a favor, hear my warning and DO NOT USE THEM, save yourself the headaches!

Terrible Service

I’ve had the same experience as other bad reviewers and would absolutely never recommend this company for a move. They contract out a different moving company for your move, don’t give you details ahead of time & neglect any calls. We’ve asked for weight tickets for the military and they’ve lied to us saying that it’s getting done but it never did. They’ve had our stuff sitting in CA for a month now, and it needs to be delivered to MA in less than 2 weeks. They’re rude, they break contract agreements and give you no sense of securement with your stuff. The company they contracted out to also does not answer the phone. I would have planned differently so that I had clothes to wear to my new job and at least a mattress to sleep on. I’ve never experienced such rude and irresponsible customer service. Also be aware that they give you a quote and then the moving company they contract out will bombard you with probably another grand in fees that were never discussed prior to the move.
