Milestone Relocation Atlanta is Great!

Milestone Relocation was great from customer service to the delivery of my last box. The movers arrived early and packed up my place in no time.  My items were delivered with just one minimal damage and the movers were sincere about fixing it immediately. All of my items were re-assembled and placed where I wanted them. I was very satisfied with service I recieved. This was the first time I used movers and I would gladly hire Milestone again for my moving needs.

Unprofessional co provided HORRIBLE experience.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!  UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE left us with damaged furniture, a mound of STRESS and a house that smelled of body odor (on a cold day in Nov!)  We were so upset before they even finished loading our furniture.  The truck they pulled up in looked like it came from a junk yard.  We wouldn't allow them to park in the driveway for fear of oil leaks. (and we were embarrassed for our neighbors to see this truck in front of our house).  Not to mention the size.. the truck was a small box truck that would not accomodate our move, although we provided a detailed list of items well in advance of the move.  I called the office before the truck even arrived to our new house to unload because I was in a panic that they might damage our new house after seeing the unprofessionally dressed employees that couldn’t even load the furniture into the truck without dropping our expensive leather sofa in the street….  When I called that day (in a panic) I was told a manager would call me back in 5 minutes. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL. That was 6 weeks ago. I did recieve a claim form to complete and return and I'm being told they will give us an insulting $100 TOTAL for the damage to our  $3,000 leather sofa and damaged solid wood armoire.  Did I mention that one of the movers was in such bad health that I was fearful he was going to have a heart attack on the spot?  I couldn't get my stuff out of that truck and get them out of my house fast enough.   All that being said, I do not blame the guys working for this company.  It's not their fault they were not properly trained, dressed, or screened to be capable of the job.  Pay the extra few bucks and hire "Two Men & A Truck"!

No show.

I took a day off work and they didn't show. The Mover called me and said his truck was pulled over and was going to be impounded. I guess I'm glad he didn't make it with an illegal truck. I called dispatch and he told me he had noone else to help me the rest of the week and told me to find someone else to do my move. That's what I will do.

Super slow movers and hourly rates!!

I was moving a bedroom set and a living room set plus two chairs and a small kitchen table and a large curio into a one bedroom apartment. Grant it the bedroom furniture was a quality set and very heavy and the livingroom set was bulky as well but I knew these two guys were slow from the moment that I met them. When movers moved my mom and were paid a flat rate they husseled and were fast and strong. That is what I expected for the movers when they came to my house. One of the guys walked so slow, I had pep to my step but not them. I was furious and I asked my friend to just start helping me carry out all my boxes of non-furniture items to my front lawn by the truck so my bill wouldn't be that outrageous, I was exhausted! Sometimes the one guy would pick up some sofa cushions and walk slow after I picked up some heavy boxes. I arrived at the apartment before them and eventually had to call b/c they didn't yet show up and I told them that they were slow and that I was moving faster than them, especially the other guy that I was not talking to and that the bill was going to be too much. I just called and am waiting for a call back from the manager there, not sure if I will ever hear back. I would NEVER use this service again! It cost me $560 and 5 hours for two slow movers and one truck to move into an apartment that was only 30 min. driving distance from my old location. They also broke two of my lamps and did not apologize.

Horrible Movers!

They showed up with no packing materials and a truck that was not big enough for all my goods. (they never mentioned that they didn't have a truck big enough, if the had, I would have hired someone else) They charged extra for the second trip. They sent me a 3 man crew, one had a bad back and couldn't lift. They took a smoke break between every large piece of furniture. They did not have enough blankets so much of my furniture got damaged. They dragged my furniture on the ground. They offered me 300 for damages but I never saw it, I ended up getting it back from the credit company. If you value your time and sanity, pick somebody else to move your house hold goods.

Really bad experience.

This is a no, at least not in Atlanta, We hired them thinking we would get professional movers, and we were willing to pay more than other companies asked in order to get the move done right. Get that? We paid more for this company than what other companies had asked.

We ended up with a move that could have been 5 hours long that became 7 hours long. We did all the packing ourselves. We are now missing an ironing board, a Blu-Ray player, and a portable clothes rack (perhaps not stolen by the movers, but stolen by someone else while in the possession of the movers.. the truck was empty but we keep realizing things are missing as we unpack). The mover backed the truck into the fence at the apartment complex we were vacating three times, hitting the neighbor's fence on the other side.

The head mover asked us, at the end of the move, to pay part of the fee in cash even though the central office had two of our credit card numbers. And when the head mover left the apartment, peeved that we wouldn't (and couldn't.. try making a $400 withdrawal on a Sunday night from the closest ATM that does not belong to your bank. Your bank will shut down your debit card) pay them part of it in cash, and peeved that we couldn't tip them, he told the other movers in front of us: "they paid us with a credit card; there's no money." Then he tried to call someone to make arrangements to pay the other movers.

We have worked in a lot of different environments and are well-versed in labor issues. His behavior tipped us off that he was likely a subcontractor, which would explain why his truck had no decal or identifying marks from the moving company, and that the other movers were not on the payroll, I.e. being paid in cash under the table. A subcontractor is one thing, if they had told us they would be using one (the company did not tell us that), but non-payroll employees? Uh-uh.

If I am hiring someone under the table, I want to make that decision myself. I do not want a professional, insured moving company sending me people who get paid in cash only. What the hell is that? That is so exploitative of the workers. I want to use a company that uses just labor practices, and paying people only whatever tip is given to them is totally not cool. Oh yeah, it is probably also not the most legal behavior in the world.

We left one message for them saying we would like to talk to them, including saying we would contact the Better Business Bureau. They called back once and left a message (we missed the call). They haven't tried again. We have contacted John Daley by email, and he has not responded. Next step? Contacting the Better Business Bureau.

Terrible. Just Terrible.

The worse. No call, no show once. Called and cancelled on us the second attempt and hour after the were supposed to be there. The third attempt was 2 hours late because they contracted a company from a city 2 hours away to help with the move. The best thing they could have done was hire these guys and I wish I would have gone straight with them in the first place. If you are in the Raleigh/Charlotte/Rock Hill area use Quick Turn Cargo. They were legit. Never, ever, ever use Milestone. Ever.

What move?

I had a move scheduled for Father's Day morning between 8-9:30. One of the movers called me at 9:20 to say that they were getting gas and would be at the old place at 9:45. That was the last I heard from anyone for hours. I called the office several times, got the voicemail. I call the cell number that the guys called me from, and finally got an answer on the third call somewhere around, oh, 12:30. The guy that answered said they were broke down on the side of the road. I got some long song and dance about parts and it being hot and so on, to be completed with a "It's Father's Day, and I'm broke down on the highway."

Mr. Loves His Job said he'd talked to the office, and they should've called me. I *still* haven't heard from the office.

If they had called me when it happened, it would've been fine. And instead of an apology for the miscommunication, I got attitude for bothering them while they were working on the truck.

Don't use these guys. They're rude, there's zero communication, and they seem to think you're on their time. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for..spend the extra money and go with someone who knows what they're doing.

Advertised price not honored.

Milestone realcation advertises a $199 quote for a small move with "no hidden fees". Advertised price was $199, final cost was $275. Move took less then minimum time, but they added drive cost, supplies cost and a surcharge for using a credit card to make payment.

Had asked for an afternoon move. The actual mover asked if I could change to a morning move, which I accepted IF they could get started between 8 and 9 since I had an appointment at 10:30. They agreed to early start, but arrived at 9:30 versus between 8 and 9.

Actual movers were great, but the ad was 100% false.

Do not recommend using this organization, unless you get a written quote.

We experienced a lack of professionalism.

We hired the Atlanta branch of this corporation, but only corresponded with John Daley at corporate. We expected professional movers, and we were willing to pay more than other companies asked in order to get the move done right.

We did all the packing and unpacking (not sure why this form indicates we paid for unpacking services).

We were initially told the movers would come between 2 and 4 on a Sunday, which was perfect. I had to work at a church that morning, and we both had to fly out the next day on business.

We were quoted around $112 per hour for a four-hour or so move. We only had a small storage unit (on-site in the apartment complex we were leaving) and a one-bedroom apartment. Not a ton of stuff. Three movers came. The day before, the head mover asked if they could come at noon, due to the heat, instead of between 2 and 4. We said this was fine, and made some changes to our schedule.

It took them about seven hours. There was a walk between both apartments and the truck, plus elevator rides, but this seemed significantly slower than we had been quoted. I thought it was because they were being careful with our stuff, and nothing showed up broken, so that was correct. I now wonder if they were inexperienced. We moved about a mile away, so there wasn't any traffic.

We paid a total of $784. After this move, we are now missing an ironing board, a Blu-Ray player, and a portable clothes rack (perhaps not stolen by the movers, but stolen by someone else while in the possession of the movers, as the truck was empty at the end of the move).

The head mover asked us, at the very end of the move, to pay half of the fee in cash even though the central office had two of our credit card numbers. He wouldn't take a check. And when the head mover left the apartment, peeved that we wouldn't pay them part of it in cash (trying to making a $400 withdrawal on a Sunday night from the closest ATM that does not belong to my bank actually shut down my debit card), and peeved that we couldn't tip them, he told the other movers in the hallway (we could hear): "they paid us with a credit card; there's no money." Then he tried to call someone to make arrangements to pay the other movers.

This last thing he did really surprised us. We suspect he was a subcontractor, which would explain why his truck had no decal or identifying marks from the moving company, and that the other movers were not on the payroll, I.e. being paid in cash under the table. A subcontractor is one thing, if they had told us they would be using one (the company did not tell us that), but using non-payroll employees is really not appropriate. If I am hiring someone under the table, I want to make that decision myself. I do not want a professional, insured moving company sending me people who get paid in cash only. That is a very exploitative practice.

We also were not informed by the office we would need to pay anything in cash, and no one told us the policy was to tip the movers. We would have been prepared, but instead, we felt like the mover was trying to take advantage of us by insisting, at the very end of the move, on cash.

We have tried to contact Milestone Relocation Services by phone and email. They called back once and left a message (we missed the call). They haven't tried again even though we have sent two emails. There has been no response via email and no additional phone call.

We are unsure how to file a claim regarding the missing items. We have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and have yet to hear back.
