Nickel & Dimed

Beware! They outsource everything and are just the brokers. The company that came to pick up my stuff nickel and dimed me everything. GS promised me a two day window for delivery and I was told that wasn’t going to happen. At best it was a week. I had to go over my inventory list with GS a week before the move and they added another $2k to my initial deposit and estimate. When the actual movers showed up, they started charging me more for packing materials and number of steps. Did you know one flight of stairs is 7 steps? Neither did I. So my 2nd floor apartment which has one set of stairs became an additional charge, even though I was told the first flight of stairs is free. Long story short, this company is terrible. Do not use them for moving because it will end up costing you so much more. I have moved several times and cross country and this is the worst I’ve seen as far as hidden charges. Ridiculous.

Terrible Company

This company subcontracts the moves out. We had ARENA AS OUR MOVERS. We were quoted &3200 by GS and ended up paying $5200 for our move. Arena stated we had more than GS said. Lied about our square footage and items to be moved. Two Asian men came, walked in apartment, took pictures of everything, went to car for a half hour, and demanded more money. Wanted post office check or cash. Our items were to be delivered in 5 days and it took 3 weeks. Missing a few things. Delivery to our storage unit was one guy so we had to help him unload because his coworker was in court. Very shady operation. Avoid them

Suggest them

They were important in my ability to relax and unwind. A primary goal of mine is to be able to convey my appreciation to individuals who have assisted me. Being on a team with individuals who are just as committed to succeeding as you are is a huge help. If anyone I know needs storage or is relocating, you can bet that I will suggest your business to them.

This company is a bait and switch SCAM! BEWARE!!!

This company is a bait and switch SCAM. My daughter picked this company based on a nice sounding guy and the lowest moving costs (~$2600). They generalize the cubic feet based on the phone call. A down payment of $967 was made, which becomes "non-refundable" after 48 hours. [Legally not true]. 2 weeks later, a "Quality Control" lady calls and determines that the cubic feet is much higher and demands another $800 down payment for a total cost of ~$4100. Example: my daughter said she had a queen size bed. The company "assumed" that she only had a mattress. No, it was a complete bed; box spring, mattress, headboard and foot board. If you try to back out, she will threaten you and tell you the original down payment is non-refundable. [Check with your bank, mine was willing to go after the money]. My daughter at this point was sucked into a bad situation and continued. I had her get on a video call with this Quality Control woman and go through the house to be exact on cubic feet and extras. This included an extra flight of stairs in her apartment. When the movers came, they charged an extra flight of stairs because (PAY ATTENTION TO THIS) it wasn't found on the contract, even though GS Vanlines discussed the inclusion. Now they played dead and didn't answer or return phone calls. It was not the movers' fault. Please read all the reviews of this unscrupulous company. If you still choose them (I RECOMMEND NOT), start with a video call WITHIN THE FIRST 48 HOURS to have total agreement on the estimated cubic feet of belongings and any extra charges, such as flights of stairs. THEN, double verify everything you discussed is embedded in the contract BEFORE YOU PAY ANYTHING!

Scammers DO NOT USE THEM

We hired Gulf Stream can lines to move a two bedroom apartment from New Jersey to Florida. We were quoted 2300.00 the first time, the when a representative called to confirm, my husband went over every item that would need to be moved, at that time the rep said it would be more due to the space on the truck. He gave us a price of 5938.14 which we were fine with. Once the movers came to the house they tried to charge us and additional 5543.00 which totals 11, 481.80 which of that we put down 3,132.00. The mover asked if we wanted to transport some of our things since the broker provided them the incorrect information and I said no we need all of our things moved, however we provided Michael Davis all the items being moved and now you want to move only half our items if we don’t pay and additional 5000.00. We declined and later was told they will be keeping our deposit. This is absolutely ridiculous and bad business. We have seen many cases where this company has provided inaccurate information and then the movers attempt to collect more if you don’t pay they will keep your deposit. They are ripping people off and it’s not right! Review this business before you become the next victim. Lily is horrible and rude, she thinks keeping thousands of dollars is funny because they are incapable for collecting inventory. I would rate Zero stars if I could! The company have many reviews with the same issue on the better business bureau! They are horrible

Corrupt and liars

I was quoted a price I was told for a private 26FT moving truck. Five days before scheduled move turns out they lied and I was quoted for 8 ft on a moving truck with others. They wanted double the price now and so I canceled. They would not give me back my 1,069 deposit because I canceled five days before the move. Claiming I was out of the refundable time yet they called me five days before the move to change the terms and conditions of the move themselves not me. Very corrupt and it’s shows how bad America is now that this company is still operating and scamming people.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Gulf Stream Van Lines

We contracted Gulf Stream to arrange our move. Turns out GS is a broker that arranges moves. East Coast Van Lines (AKA Always Affordable Moving & Storage) showed up on 1/9/24 for our Florida move. Igor of East Coast increased cubic feet of our belongings from 282 to 600. I had no way to verify that. He was driving a Sprinter van with a U-Haul trailer attached. The price increased from $2500 to $4700 (88%!). He assessed a $600 “packing fee”, which consisted of assembling 6-8 packing boxes, but no actual packing.

The truck departed for NJ on the afternoon of 1/9/24. Our furniture was not delivered until 1/23/24 (14 days). We were told verbally by one of Gulf Stream staff that the delivery would take “3-5 days or up to 10 depending on the weather”. 14 days is well beyond 10.

It’s 1400 miles from Cohoes, NY to Sunrise FL. I know drivers are allowed to drive up to 11 hours per day. Even at an average of 50 miles per hour, they could cover 550 miles in a day. That would mean less than 3 days for a 1400 mile trip.

The delivery crew of 2 were fast and efficient. Apparently, Sergei, the gentleman in charge was not trained by Igor, as he did not try to inflate the price.

Note that we did sustain damage to a genuine oak dresser (not Ikea junk), which was shipped on its side, and arrived

wet and warped.

Great Job.

Thank you Gulf Stream Van Lines. Your reputation certainly lived up to the hype. Our move went flawlessly. I want to thank Jason for all his help setting the move up. I also want to thank Jared and his moving crew for being extremely professional and detailed throughout the entire moving process. The pick up went great and they were able to store our items in their warehouse free of charge for the first 30 days. The drop off also went very smooth the staff was very courteous. Keep up the great work! I would highly recommend this company!

Good Company.

The only reason Gulf Stream Van Lines is only getting four stars is because they are a bit expensive. I understand they are a luxury moving company and from our first hand experience they provide exceptional service. If you are working with a tight budget this prob isn't the company for you. But, if you value your possessions and want a smooth move - you can't pick a better company.

Dont book this company.

I would never thought I would have to run a company down just to get a update about my items that were damage by movers.

I booked a move with Jason for February 28th, 2020. I was told that movers will be at storage unite @ 9:30 am. When I called Jason to ask how long it would be before there get there. Jason called back and told me there were only 25minutes out. Then movers called me stating they were actually 45 minutes out. Movers didn't arrive to storage unit 10:53 am. When I explain to movers that I was disappointed in the miscommunication. Jared stated to me that he had just did a long move the night before and that's why they were late. once Jared and Austin were finish loading up at the storage. Jared called me and told me before he stop at the second location to pick up a bedroom set and drop off a bedroom set. that they were going to grab lunch. Cool I had no problem with that. well that took about an hour and so before they got to the second location to load the bedroom set on the truck. so now Jared and Austin are on there way to the final location to unload . Once they arrived , they started to unload the truck. Mind you I am moving into a brand new Home and Jared and Austin damage my stairway rails and got damage on the wall here there. When walked out and noticed Jared and Austin trying to fix the leg of my big dresser. Mind you I didn't say anything because I thought one of them would be honest and tell me they broke it. instead when I text Jared and told him the dress almost fell on my four year daughter and That my flat screen tv screen was completely gone out. Jared tried to tell me that it was just throw in the storage united and some other BS about my dresser leg being broken when they moved it and that was a lie. Then Jared text back that he had no clue as to what happen and that he assumed I knew when they picked up the leg was loose. and that he put a different screw and glue in the hole for it to stay. first Jared stated to me he was the one in charge. no that my stuff is damage he going to put me in contact with person about him. bull shit.Jared claimed he would send info over on a claim. First I never heard anything back. I kept calling and sending texts. I got the run around about they never had anyone file claim, then oh he waiting on info from his agent. then Jared text with the bull that his agent was out for lunch and that it is his father in law , so he know he will call back. still nothing. I have call so many times no answer or other sale rep tell me that Jason is not there. I even emailed Jason and the client care team. still no response. Gulfstream Valine's better best believe I will be filing a formal complaint with the department of transportation , The American moving and storage association and The Butter Business Bureau.

I have tried to understand very well and be calm. But they just want to push buttons so now you have pushed the right ones.
