Gold Standard Moving and Storage LLC

I spoke to a woman named Sarah at Gold Standard who told me that she would “take care of“ me and give me a great price. I then spent an hr & 20 min on the phone providing a list of items for my move from Md to Fl. Sarah asked me to measure EVERY single item that I was bringing. I did so and she provided a quote of just over $2700 for the move. Several days prior to the move, I was contacted by Tim for the revised list of items for my move. I had added and subtracted some items. Again, I measured every single item and was given a revised estimate of approx $3400 for the move. I had mostly small boxes but Tim advised me to only count the boxes as “medium” and “large” so that I would “overestimate” the cost and avoid any excessive fees when the movers arrived. He guaranteed me that the cost would be “LESS” than $3400. My three day window was on a Thurs/Fri/Sat. On Thursday, I was contacted by the driver who did not leave his name. He left a text message that read "Hello this is Gold Standard Moving and storage. We will be arriving at your home Friday between 2-6pm. Thank you." The couple that purchased my home was moving in on May 28. I had moved all of my items from my home into 1/2 of the garage to allow the new family to move into my home. In doing so, I also saved the movers from having to take all of the items from around my home, take them apart, before placing them into the truck. I waited outside of the home from 1 PM until 6 PM and NO ONE showed! No one texted and no one emailed me. At 6:15, I tried to call Gold Standard. I heard a message stating that they were “closed.“ They did provide a phone # for “texting only” in the case of an “emergency.“ I left a message on the emergency text number that my movers did not show and texted the driver. I received no response until 8:51pm that read "They do appear to be delayed from their last pick up I'm sorry for the lack of communication. I'm waiting on an update for a new pick up eta from driver." At 10 o’clock Fri morning I had not received any word from Gold Standard. I texted the emergency # again and was told that someone would be at my house between 1 and 3 PM. At 3 PM, the truck arrived. The person in charge “Morris” from "Quick Move, LLC" informed me that they were contacted that same day to pick up my items. He pulled out his phone and showed me the quote for $3400. He then informed me that he is not going to charge me for the blankets nor the tape. He then proceeded to show me all of the additional costs that I would be incurring, including charges for boxes and crates. The crate charge was $125. When I asked to see the $125 crate, Morris stated that there actually is no crate and that they “make the crate.“ The crate was a blanket, cardboard from boxes and tape. When I complained that the cardboard, blanket and tape were not worth $125, he reminded me that he’s not charging me for the blanket and the tape! Morris then offered to take all of the items off of my truck and stated that he would not charge me a cancellation fee (that he stated he is entitled to do) but is very willing to take all of the items back off of the truck and I could find someone else. My items were in the garage currently occupied by the new owners, so of course it was impossible for me to find another truck company especially given the headaches I had already incurred. Everything got worse. After wrapping everything up and placing it in the truck, Morris called me over to show me the new figures. The cost has gone from $3400 for the move, which should have been less than that due to the “over estimate” I provided earlier to $5332. He claimed that Gold Standard Moving and Storage was WRONG with their estimate of 608 ft.³ and that he measured 974 ft.³ Morris blamed Gold Standard, stating, “They are just salespeople.” “They are just a broker.” Over 50% higher quote. Gold Standard was closed and not answering phone calls. This is fraud. I will be pursuing litigation. This is a horrible, fraudulent experience. And it's still not over. I will keep everyone informed. I contacted Gold Standard Moving and Storage on 6/1/21 and spoke with a customer service representative that stated she could do nothing until she receives the ledger from the movers. She asked that I call back no sooner than Friday, 6/4/21. I have contacted the BBB and will soon be filing a complaint at the D.O.T. I will update everyone of the resolution of this horrible experience with Gold Standard Moving and Storage, LLC.

Be careful when choosing this company. My stuff never got picked up although I scheduled my pick-up date 1 month in advance. This led to many consequences since I have to find another company to move my stuff from west coast to the east coast within less than 1 week. Also, I have experienced the worst communication in my life. They never reached out to you – you always have to initiate the communication whenever there is a problem. Every time I call, I had to wait at least 40 minutes to talk to a representative.

Here is my story:

On 4/28/2021, I scheduled and paid my deposit. The pick-up time frame was 5/28/21 to 5/30/21. They informed me that the carrier will call 24 hours, 12 hours, and 1 hour before picking up my stuff. No one ever contacted me or pick up my stuff within this time frame. I was never notified about this delay. During that time, I was in touch with the emergency texting system, which was no help either. They said it’s Memorial Day weekend so there could be a delay, which makes no sense because they never reached out, informed, or noticed me in advance at all. And they had 1 month to do so. They kept telling me to wait for the phone call from the carrier. And finally, no one came to pick up my stuff between 5/28/21-5/30/21.

I called the company the next day (5/31/21), and they could not tell me what went wrong or any other information about the delay. They did not offer any responsibility at that time about the delay. They did not even try to offer any other solution other than rescheduling a pick-up date to 6/1/1 to 6/2/21. They contacted me saying the carrier is picking up my stuff on 6/2/21 between 12-2PM and same thing happened again. No one ever gave me a phone call or picked up my stuff. I did not get a prior notification about the delay again. No one reached out to me about the delay. So again, I called the company before they closed and they told me that their dispatch team could not get in touch with the carrier. They said the same thing – “there could be a delay”. The after-hour texting service was no help again. They stopped responding to my texts when I ask how they are going to take responsibility about this.

Overall, I had the worst experience with this company. Whenever I ask what the problem is or what exactly is going on they keep saying they don’t know because they are not the dispatch team or the carrier. I understand they are a broker, but isn’t it their responsibility to follow-up on their actions and help the customers? It was also my fault for trusting the good reviews. I was attracted to the lower prices they offered, and I really got what I paid for. My refund is being processed (hopefully they do not lie to me about processing the refund) but this DOES NOT compensate for the stress and other consequences that I am going through. Now, I have less than 1 week to find a way to move my stuff from west to east coast after giving them 6 days to pick-up my stuff. They are not going to take any responsible about this situation. I have been going through unnecessary frustration and stress for the past 6 days.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2700

We walked through our inventory of items to be moved with them about a month ago and they gave us an estimated pickup date of 6/5-6/7 and an estimate of $3100 to move from Ohio to Florida. We gave them our deposit and hadn't heard from them by 6/1 so I called to find out the exact pickup date. They asked to re-visit the inventory at which point they doubled our price and said the rates had changed and we needed more shipping space. We spent multiple hours on hold and on the phone with them trying to understand why the price had doubled, at which point we asked for a refund which they've denied. We've been told numerous lies and still have not received a refund. We've also been cursed at and hung up on.

Gold Standard Moving and Storage has done an amazing job with my move. They were professional throughout the service, being prompt, careful with my belongings, being fast and efficient, friendly, as well as, maintaining safety precautions due to the pandemic. I was surprised they were able to move all my furniture and boxes in one trip, and have enough space in their truck for more. There were zero problems and complaints I have about the business. Will recommend to friends and family, and will definitely use them again for the future! 5 Stars!

My property was picked up on May 23, the last day of my window and I requested June 1, as my first available delivery date.

Monarch van lines showed up at my residence, not a Gold Standard truck. They were not able to load all of my stuff and I ended up additionally renting a uhaul, towing my car and driving a 15 ft uhaul truck the approximately 800 miles to my new residence. Which cost me hundreds of dollars additional above the $7200. Gold Standard had required. I got here on May 31. I have heard nothing from either Gold Standard or Monarch Van Lines, who by the way indicated it could be 30 days before my property would be delivered! Wait-what? How come?

They did not put a lock/seal on the truck to protect my property.

So does that mean they plan on going through it? No Bueno!

I have attempted to call Gold Standard movers, but was on hold for

30 minutes and instead of being connected when it was my turn I was disconnected!!

When I tried to call the guy from Monarch Van Lines who picked up my property, the phone just rang and rang and was never picked up. This is also No Bueno!

I have put a letter in the mail to Gold Standard Movers out of sheer frustration.

The worst part of this is not knowing if my property is secured safely. It does not need to be sitting in a storage lot, with the threat of charging me even more money if it’s stored for 30 days.

it needs to be delivered to my new address so I can bet settled and get on with my life.

RUN FOR LIFE!!! Gold standard Moving and Storage is the worst! My rep Kimber Taylor lied about everything and the company will cheat, lie and steal your money. Gold standard is not even a moving company, they are a 3rd party service that hires low end moving companies. Many of my items were either stolen or broken and Gold standard and the moving company that did the moving will honor the contract and reimburse me for thousands in losses. Gold Standard is a criminal organization in my opinion! Never use them!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $12000

Let me start by saying that this move was an absolute nightmare throughout the whole process and the after they "outsourced" the transport of my items to another moving company all I heard were excuses and the blame game for every issue that arose. My items were picked up April 24th and I was told my stuff would be delivered May 1st. It didn't arrive until May 19th.. I didn't plan to not have any of my things for almost 3 weeks and they kept telling me it was on the way. All lies. I had to pay a ton of money to REbuy basic living necessities and wasn't compensated for anything. They claimed that they "technically" had 21 days AFTER my quoted date to deliver the items even though it was not mentioned once in my quote or any conversation prior. Don't trust the salesperson John he lies and never spoke to me again or answered my calls, texts, or emails. If you don't want to be miserable for a month, don't use this company. Also, the THIRD company that was used to deliver my stuff (outsourced to another one from the middle company) lost a wheel to a chair that is now useless.

This company lied, said I had a 15x 15 space, little over 2,200, dollars, paid over 400 deposit, just learned my space is 8'8x 5'5, so new price is over 4,000 for that 15' space. They will not return your deposit, but will hold it for 24 months if you want to use them again, they were sooo rude after I cancelled them and literally hung up on me when asking for a confirmation, This place is a scam, suggest going to penske or U-haul.GoldStandard will tell you 15 feet per room, how many rooms do you want, then will literally down size it at the end, and charge by cubic feet, I have to agree with the other people writing these stories, They weren't lying. Neither am I. This company should be evaluated by the Better Business Bureau.
