DEPLORABLE COMPANY - GM VAN LINES

I strongly urge anyone to avoid this horrific company. From Oded to David, not only are they unprofessional, but they are incompetent and could care less about you, your items or your state of mind.

They damaged MULTIPLE pieces of furniture. Photos show their gross negligence in adequately wrapping the items leaving them exposed.

After 7 months they offered $75 as a settlement. This is a customary practice.

Should you not take the advice, I highly suggest you do the following.

● Document EVERYTHING.

● DO NOT for one second give these people the benefit of the doubt.

● Should you have to file a claim, BE VIGILANT to ensure that your processing doesn't take months with Moving Claims and their outdated processing.

● Take photos while they're delivering.

I implore you to pay the higher cost and hire actual decent human beings and professionals. When an employee tells you that they don't understand emails then ask you to provide the job# which is something that they should have - Houston we have a problem.

Stay clear of GM SCAM LINES which will prove to be the absolute worst company you'll ever encounter.

You've been warned.

Smooth Movers

GM Van Lines saved the day! They made sure every single thing was wrapped up tight so nothing got damaged on the way to my new place. The movers were right on time, super-fast, and really professional. They moved my apartment to a new city without a hitch. The movers were total pros too, really polite and always willing to help out. They made moving day a breeze! They provided a clear breakdown of costs, and there were no hidden fees. The customer service was excellent from start to finish. Everything was wrapped securely to prevent any damage during the move. Even though our relocation was complex, they handled it smoothly thanks Max for his careful planning.

Scammers! Don't use them!!

Used them in June 2024. Worst moving company ever. Don't use them! They quoted an amount and then increased the quote by $2000 on the day of pick up. They also lost a $500 marble table top and made no effort to locate it. After 7 months of processing my claim by their bogus claims company, they offered to pay $75 as compensation. These people are scammers.

Horrible Service.

I would like to tell you a little about our move.  I was told (I think by the owner) on Monday, June 29th, when I called, that the next day (Tuesday, June 30th) there would be two packers at my house at 9AM to start our pack.  The first guys showed up at 12:30PM.  Not a great sign but not a huge deal in the scheme of things.   There were 4 packers once the truck got there and the owner was there as well.  I believe the owner left about 5PM.  Other than asking some questions about what went and what did not go, they packers worked on their own.  I told them I would take the liquids and packed the fridge and freezer myself.  I also packed the entire master bathroom because they had forgotten to do it.  At approximately 11:30PM (yes, 11 hours later) and after re-packing the truck at least twice, two of the guys got into a physical altercation in my bedroom and one of them got in his girlfriend’s car and left.  They did not finish loading the truck until 3AM.  Yes, that is right, 3AM, more than 14 hours after they started.  When I moved from Ft. Lauderdale to Dania Beach, packing, loading, driving, and UNLOADING took less than 10 total hours.  Because it was 3AM by the time they were done, I did not have time to clean the house, nor did I have time to drive to Sarasota.  I had to incur the cost of a hotel room ($130) and a cleaning crew ($160) because I had to be in Sarasota the next morning to meet the realtor, get the keys, and meet the truck.  Additionally, because I had to leave before the cleaning was all completed, my wife had to ship some of the items we had packed in her car via Fedex Ground so she would have room in her car to bring the shop vac, vacuum, and cleaning supplies.  That cost us an additional $200.  So, we had almost $500 in additional costs because of the incompetence and complete lack of professionalism exhibited by the crew.  It did not appear any of them had the experience to lead the crew or pack the truck.   And, based on how our items arrived, clearly none of them had ever successfully packed either.   Whoever packed the front closet, with my tools and other items, did not use even 1 piece of paper.  He threw boxes of screws and bolts into the box without even putting a piece of tape on the front to keep them closed.  When they arrived there were hundreds of screws at the bottom of the box.  He also threw in lightbulbs.  No box, no paper, just lightbulbs in a box with a ton of tools.  Obviously all the light bulbs broke.   Whoever packed the kitchen also did not seem to want to use paper.  This included an open box of baking soda and two open flour bags (both put in upside down).  When those arrived everything in that box was covered with flour and baking soda.  Also, at the bottom of that box, under all the heavy dry good, were 6 coffee mugs and a bunch of items stuffed into our metal trash can.  The trash can was all mangled and had to be thrown away.  The mugs were all broken and also needed to be thrown away.  Why would anyone pack a box with an open (did not even have a top) box of baking soda?  And why would you put the glass/breakable items on the bottom and then throw a bunch of heavier things on top.   After trying to resolve this with the company, I was told I had to file a claim for the broken items (about $5000 worth of stuff) which could take up to 120 days, and they were unwilling to do anything to compensate us for the extra expenses we had to endure due to the lack of capability/professionalism/experience of the crew.

Best of the best.

My husband and I were extremely pleased with our recent move with GM Van Lines. The crew arrived on time and went right to work. They were very strong, able men who moved a hot tub and some very heavy machines of my husband. They professionally wrapped and taped items, disassembling those items that needed it. The trucks were carefully packed to the top. The next day the crew arrived on schedule and began unloading in 25 degree weather. Boxes were delivered to the appropriate rooms and furniture set up where we asked and carefully moved if we changed our minds. Max quickly repaired a broken cabinet leg. Mr. Gur gave our estimate in a very professional manner. He was the only one of the three movers we interviewed that gave us a printed estimate immediately. He gave my husband a veteranes discount and we felt the price was very reasonable. We would definitely recommend GM Van Lines.

Best staff. Fast on time. Courteous.

Best staff. Fast on time. Courteous. My mamma passed. She lived in Aventura Florida. Needed to bring her whole designer furniture and whole house back to Michigan. I got so many calls and quotes I was overwhelmed. Gm Vanlines texted me. I set up an appt with the owner Oded gur to come give an estimate. He said he would b there at 12 and when I called the office in my moms gated community He was already there. We were still in Michigan. Everything he said they would do they did. 20 stars. . Not only was he prompt but said he would come the Saturday before the move and bring us boxes. He was on time brought the boxes helped us set them Up and I Can honestly say they have to b the best around. I don't care if they got any bad reviews it's bs. I am very particular and neurotic and I love the owner and his staff. It's like family . No broken furniture Careful with everything. You can email me at fondz@aol.com. Anytime. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

Top service.

Gm van lines was the most professional moving company I have dealt with. They sent some one out to give me an exact quote in advance. They were on time and did everything as described. It couldn't have been better. They called in advance of showing up. They made sure my things were ready and they protected my things. They. Are great. They handle it from A to Z. Thank you gm van lines for everything and god bless.

Literally the worst move experience I’ve ever had

Trish was so nice and I went with them based on that. She seemed thorough and agreed to the timeframe for the move.

The packers are not packers. They shoved fragile items in with heavy things. Lampshades with heavy things not wrapped. They broke three plates and not sure what else yet as I’m still unpacking. I should have used Clover like I have in the past. They pack and unpack everything. I didn’t think to ask about unpacking. I just assumed they would do that as that’s what white glove service is. The movers were nice at times and rude when I questioned the bill at the end. It wasn’t what Trish estimated.

She blamed the change in start time on their dispatch dept. Not my problem. They said my pack and move wouldn’t take as long as I said. I know my stuff and was right. Because they didn’t arrive until 12:30pm (supposed to be 9am) they didn’t get moved out until after 5pm. They arrived at my new building just before 6pm when the elevators and loading dock was closing. Luckily I got my building to stay open to let them move me in last night. They dropped it all and left. I heard them complaining about me in the garage. I would absolutely never, ever use them again under any circumstances. They moved something that wasn’t supposed to go and now I have to find another company to move it back to my old place in order to get my deposit back. I never write bad reviews, but I had to because this was an absolute nightmare experience. DON’T USE GM VAN LINES.

Never showed.

They were to arrive between 11 and 1. No show or call so we called and we're to told they had mechanical trouble so it would be around 3. 3 came but no movers and no call. We called and we're told that the one bedroom move they had turned into a 4 bedroom that was 1.5 hours away and they would be here by 8. Eight came and then nine with no movers or a phone call. Once we called they did not even know how we were but once he finally did he stated the truck ran out of gas on 75 so they had send a mechanic. Seriously! You think I will give you responsibility of my belongings when your men aren't responsible enough to put gas I. The Frickin truck? Asked for a refund but thank God it went through paypal.

Dishonest & Overcharged for Service.

We had used GM Vanlines about 2 years ago for a local move in Coral Springs, Florida. For that move, we had no issues.  When I was moving again, I contacted GM Vanlines via telephone for a move from Coral Springs to Tamarac, Florida. Oded (Owner) quoted me a rate of $960.00 (without boxes). I paid a $200 deposit over the phone on 12/11/14 to secure a January 1st, 2015 move date.
The initial quote for the service was $960.00  (without moving any boxes). Then I decided to include the boxes for an additional $314.00.  This brought the total to $1274.00 plus an additional $100.00 surcharge for overtime which resulted in a grand total of $1374.00.  The total charge of $1374.00 supports the paperwork submitted by GM Vanlines.  However, GM Vanlines insist on charging us $2134.00.That is an overbill amount or difference of an additional $760.00. It is apparent  that they are billing from both the field and in the office for the same service and amount.  When you call the office,  Agathy doesn’t seem to comprehend the problem.
In 01/2015, I noticed an additional charge of $760.00 from GM Vanlines.  I immediately contacted Oded(Owner) Vanlines to advise him of the extra charge. He indicated that he noticed it and that one (1) transaction was through his Paypal account and another through SQ and that I needed to contact the credit card company to dispute it. Based on the conversation with Oded, I notified the credit card company. Every time I dispute the additional charge of $760.00, GM Vanlines contest the charge and then provides falsified document which includes forged signature and date. This matter has been ongoing since January 2015.
On April 8th, 2015, we again sent  via facsimile a copy of the above  explanation and credit card statement s to Oded to highlight the error.  To date, they have failed to respond.
They understand how to run their credit card terminal to charge customers but lack understanding when it comes time to credit their customers who they have deliberately over charged.  In this case, it is $760.00.

Horrible Experience!!

We are only taking the time to write this to help and prevent others from suffering losses. We had a horrible experience with GM Van Lines based in Pompano Beach. They damaged a lot of our furniture. They give people the run around. For starters, they hire people off the street with little or no experience to assist with their moves. One of the guys they brought to the pick up location was very intoxicated (drunk) and didn't handle the furniture with care. He smelled like alcohol. In fact, one of the condo association employees from the building asked him to leave after noticing how intoxicated he was and to prevent any damage to the elevators or common areas. The owner of GM Van Lines after confirming his intoxication fired him on the job. Secondly, GM Van Lines didn't bring their own moving truck. They brought a rental. They appear to be a very small operation vs. why they try to portray. Third, they stored our furniture and belongings for many months in a third party warehouse without air conditioning. They would not disclose the location to us or allow us access. Due to the lack of air conditioning, many costly items were damaged. Yet they claim to have climate control storage and own their warehouses. They also outsource moves from out of town. Lesson learned: Get additional insurance and find someone honest, professional and reliable to handle your move. The $0.60 per pound they offer is not enough and you have to jump through many hoops to claim it. They make it a difficult and lengthy process! We filed a claim several months ago and are still being given the run around. Based on the weight, they should have paid us over $1,300 which barely covers the repairs needed. We were shocked to receive a settlement agreement for only $60.00. We've had a horrible experience which we wouldn't want anyone of you to go through. Hopefully, this write up will help you make a better informed decision. Had we known all of these, we would have never hired such an unprofessional, careless company or individual. Also, the owner was not honest with us and claims to be an employee. Look up the company and do your research before ever considering them. Best of luck to you!

Horrible experience.

Horrible experience in my life !! I approached GM Van lines to move from Florida to Illinois. Initially all my luggage was picked up on time by 3 guys and placed in some location in Florida. Later I moved to new place and  took new apartment in Illinois and gave them the address to deliver my luggage, it has been more  than 11 days and nothing has happened. When ever I call them they simply says "Once truck starts they will give me a call " it hasn't happened. All my luggage got held up in Florida , god knows when it will be delivered.

Go With Someone Else.

I'm writing this review from the floor of my empty apartment in Phoenix. I moved from Tampa for work and my company gave me the option to choose my mover. I chose GM Van Lines due to cost and their fairly good reviews and I regret the decision I made. My main POC was Agatha who I explained my situation to and advised that I needed my items in Phoenix by October 1st. I received an email from their company saying that they did free estimates (which I've gotten a few already) so initially called to schedule one but was told that they weren't going to send anyone out since I had a small move (first red flag).

I ended up sending her an itemized list that another carrier gave me and she advised me of my rate. On August 17th, we selected September 17th at 8:00am as a pick up date and time that is compatible with my work schedule and ensure my items would arrive on or before October 1st, since they give you 30 free days of storage. The week of the move, I call Agatha to confirm (since she didn't) and sent an email since I couldn't reach her with a final list of things that I had packed. No response.

September 17th, 8:00am gets here and no one shows up. I call at 9:00am and I'm told there's an issue with the truck and they're trying to figure it out and will call me back. I call 2 hours later, since no one calls me back, and I'm told they're sending another truck to arrive between 2 and 4. The movers don't arrive until 7:00pm, can barely SPEAK (not just English but any words) but tells me I have to sign paperwork that doesn't have any information on it. No prices, amount already paid, amount due, literally nothing. A dishonest person would have taken advantage but I proceeded to do their job and enter in the amount I paid for the deposit, the amount I paid at pick up and the amount due to delivery, the items I had them pick up, etc. It was a mess but they put my stuff on the truck and I'm assuming the owner Obed texted me if the guys were still at my house after they had left.

I call the following Monday to make sure everything was still on schedule but no one answers. I probably called 2-3 more times to only get their voice mail or someone to say they will call me back to confirm and not. I'm livid at this point and doubtful that my stuff will arrive at all, let alone on time. I'm finally able to get Agatha on the phone this week demanding that she gets me an ETA on my items, explaining to her my frustrations with the service I've received and requesting a discount for an inconvenience. Agatha has listening issues so instead of understanding that they've dropped the ball, she proceeds to yell back at me that it should arrive in another 3-4 days? Maybe?

Moving is stressful in itself, especially when you're going across the country for your job and dealing with other vendors. Do yourself a favor and choose someone else more legitimate than these folks. I understand things happen and was prepared for something to go wrong but every step in this process has been messed up and I have not received one apology. Not one. Yes they're cheap but it's not worth the hassle, the disrespect and possibility that you may not get your stuff, let alone on time. I would suggest Wheaton or United/Hildrup. They were very nice and they're prices were about $1K more.

Best in the biz.

I had a three men team of movers and they were fantastic, organized, careful with my belongings and not to mention efficient and professional!! My moving time frame was in the afternoon and their sales rep called me around 9 in the morning that day just to check everything once again. From then on, it was going smooth. I had a long distance move and it was a nice experience for me. No broken or damaged items, no hidden costs! I would not hesitate to recommend these guys to all my family and friends. Great but not expensive! I must admit that their rating here is truly deserved. These guys made my move an easy experience for me, they are honest, fair, and will do their best to provide you the best quality service. You guys are simply awesome.

Gm Van Lines Poor Service.

In Dec 2017 we hired GM Van Lines in Pompano Beach, FL to pack all of our furniture and our clothing and keep it in storage while our condo was being renovated. When GM returned everything to our condo in Jan 2018 our Lucite dining room table was damaged also damaged was the matching Lucite side board table. Our 3 piece wall unit/entertainment center mirrored section was broken. Those pieces cost $800 to be repaired. There was a lamp shade that had a hole punched in it from packing it on top of a flower arranged it was just pushed down into the box. Our clothes were not hung in wardrobe boxes because they forgot the bars so they piled them in the wardrobe boxes still on the hangers not even folded, they just dumped everything into a box including leather jackets, sports coats and evening wear which all needing pressed when unpacked. There were broken glass pieces, broken pottery pieces and broken figurines. We suffered well over $1200.00 worth of damage only asking for $800 to cover the major pieces. We contacted the owner on his cell phone an he said to send him the invoices and they would take care of it. That never happened. This was one of our worst experiences with a moving storage company. They told us that we should have taken our more insurance. We did ask if they had insurance and they told us they did, there was never a mention that we should buy additional.
We asked that they only take care of the invoices for the repairs of our furniture the $800. We would drop the cost of the rest of the problems encountered. The 2 men they sent to helped unpack could not believe how poorly the items had been packed and all the damage that had been done to our furniture. They spoke to their manager David on the phone telling him how bad it was. We have pictures of the clothing thrown in boxes with small boxes piled on top and pictures of damaged furniture and figurines.
This company is not honorable in their dealings and they do not seem to have experienced movers working for them.
We just want to warn you.
