Excel Carriers

  Do not use this company. They are completely dishonest. The owner owns several companies and when you get the online quotes, most of them are for the same company. They give you a low bid, then after they load your belongings, they tell you the price will be higher because you have more cubic feet and stairs and there are toll charges. All items they knew about in advance. By this time, your stuff is in their truck and you have no choice but to pay. Then your stuff does not get delivered on time if at all. I'm still waiting after 15 days with a 7-10 day promise to deliver. The driver coming to deliver the goods late already warned me there would be extra charges for the same items they charge me for on the front end. It's complete extortion. The DOT can do nothing to help you. This company claims to move military families, this is also a lie. They are extremely nice until they have your property. Then they don't take your calls and when you can reach them, they continually lie to you promising discounts and refunds that will never come. They have no conscious at all. Beware of any company located in Englewood, NJ as they have more than 10 different names.    This company is located in Englewood, NJ and they are dishonest. Do not use them. They can not be trusted and they will rip you off. They use several names so you can not find all of the complaints and bad reviews. Michael is the main sales guy to lies through every part of the process and after your belongings are picked up, you can never reach him again. They will extort money from you as soon as your stuff is on their truck. It's very sad that people like this exist in the world.  .

Service cost: $1400

Bill was double the estimate. Unjustified charges. Charged two hours for a 26-mile trip that should take 35-50 minutes at most. Charged one hour for 20-mile trip that should take 30 minutes at most. More than one hour late, creating delay in picking up the six pieces of furniture, more unjustified costs. Charged $40 fuel costs for 46-mile trip, that's 4.6 miles per gallon on highway driving. But much worse were the screaming tirades of obscenities by the managment and drivers. They stood in the hall of my condo and continued screaming obscenities until they extorted the money from me. I should have just called the police. I paid the deposit by credit card, the company ad said credit cards were accepted and the management said I did not have to pay with cash. I also was told management would make unspecified adjustments because they also thought the charges were exorbitant. I was told the driver had a wreck on the way to the job.  The mover, another Michael, still demanded cash, screaming for almost an hour, disturbing my neighbors. The vile obscenities also came with phone  calls and frightening threats until I paid. Horrible, scary experience.

Service cost: $705

I called and spoke with Mike who gave me an estimate which seemed great. I gave him all inventory in my home and more! We agreed to 3 people and my husband was going to help and be the fourth man to lower costs. He gave me an estimate of $1080. I knew it was an estimate and thought it would cost about maybe $300 more. Like I said, we included everything in this estimate. It was pretty clear! The morning of, my husband woke up at 7 in the morning and starting hauling downstairs majority of our stuff to help the company out and to reduce cost. He did a lot! He put boxes out in front so it would be easier for them and to get them out early. When they came, they brought 4 men and supposedly told me that the 4th man was free. They were 3 1/2 hours late! So mind you, there are 5 people moving our stuff and it took forever! I left early to pa and when I heard the final bill cost it was $2006! They said they only charged us $440 something dollars for extra cost with their materials. Where did the other money come from? I don't know! They said flight of stairs and other bull stuff which I don't understand still. The flight of stairs was already included in my estimate. I called the salesperson mike who I complained to and he was suppose to return my call and never did. I was arguing with the foreman, James brown about the cost and he told me that he would leave my stuff back in NY if I didn't agree with the bill. I was so unhappy with the conversation and nothing was done. When they arrived out our new home, I told my husband not to help them. We were trying to get them out before 8 pm that they couldn't even unload everything in the right places. They were out in time and only took off about $100 which was their tip. Pretty sad when I would of tipped more. If I knew the price was $2,000, I would of went with another company in my previous home area which would of priced the same and wouldn't have been so late. When I unpacked everything, glasses were broken, wires were tangled, several furnitures were cracked and I still can't find my iPhone charger. I wish I read the reviews first before hiring them cause it is exactly what had happened! Stay away! Mike the salesman just wants to book a job and will tell you any price possible! .

These are the worst uneducated samsters you will find. The initially quoted me $350 and then charged me $800. Not just that, they then did not return my deposit and sent me threatening racist comments.

This is the first review ever that I am posting about any service or product I have had a bad experience with as this deserves a mention to avoid bad experiences for others. I had booked the moving services from Excel Movers (http://www.militarycarriers.com) for Aug 31, 2013 from 3-6 PM. They insisted on taking an advance partial payment (a month in advance of the move) effectively ensuring that I don't reach out to any other moving service. They were very prompt with responding before the payment was taken. They even called up 2 days in advance of the move to check if I was going ahead with the move which I gladly confirmed I was. However on the day of the move they (Excel Carriers LLC) didn't show up at all! Here I was all packed up and ready to move along with my family (with a small kid its even more stressful to plan for the move as it is). When I called up the contact information on quote they had sent up and on the advance payment receipt, no one picked up the phone for first 15-20 min. When someone by the name David Greene did pick up the call he was agressive from the word go. Started abusing me on phone when called to honor the commitment (even made racial statements during the conversation). They refused to offer any claim to compensate for loss  or even offer a complaint mechanism even on multiple inquiries. I ended up getting some guys to help me move for an exorbitant price on the condition that I'll have to move along with them. During the move I ended up spraining my back. Worst part was instead of apologizing for the debacle at their end even post facto when I called them they asked me to get off the call and stop calling! I am firmly of the opinion that a company offering this king of moving experience to the customers should be forced to close, licence taken away or atleast (to avoid sounding harsh) atleast be subjected to a major penalty to ensure other consumers doesn't have to undergo the same harrowing experience.  Anyone interested in verifying the facts of the case or get move details on my experience please feel free to write to me at my mail ID or comment here. .

Stay away from this company! I moved on august 31, 2013 from an apt in a luxury building to a home that I purchased. There was only about 20 miles between the 2 locations. I was quoted a price of $1000.00 for the move and when all was said and done after my belongings were on the truck I was informed that the price is now 1677.00 because my walkway was more then 75' long and there were stairs in the home that I was moving to. In addition they would not unload any of my belongings until it was paid in full in cash. When I called the company to try to talk to them the man who answered the phone immediately jumped to the defensive and began cursing me out, threatening to bring my belongings back to the original location and leaving everything on the curb and if that wasn't enough he continued to threaten to come and punch me in my f**ing face, not once but twice. I have never been so traumatized by anything in my life. In addition several pieces of my furniture were damaged. At the start of the next business day I called to speak to someone to resolve the situation I was told to expect a call back later on that day and of course no phone call was received. And I called again the next morning and was told there is nothing they could do.

Service cost: $1677

We were moving a piano, it sounded very good on phone and a contract was sent to me. I was promised that the total cost would be $360 for the piano including an extra china cabinet. Michael was very talkative and described how they professionally they had the experience. He went through the process step by step. He was also claiming honesty through his experience as a marine soldier. 
They came late to the pick up place. About 45 minutes. They moved very slow and were not very nice. Then the person Al started to say something about negotiation the price, I was surprised buy this and thought it was already set. I did add two smaller items because of the size of the truck that would easily hold theses pieces, I was ready to pay for that. They would have fitted in my car. So I stupidly assumed that it was about the added pieces of furniture. 

I left and Al seemed stressed out but agreed that we would meet at my house. When I got home they came and he was already worked up and seemed stressed. He wanted to negotiate and told me that it was now $630. According to him the piano was not included in the price. He was aggressive and scary. I called Michael that picked up and said that it must a be a mistake, he was going get it right. This did not happen and it just went worse. I am a woman and luckily I had a friend at my house, it was a very threatening situation. Al said he would call the police on me. We negotiated more and Michael did not pick up the phone after this. I did finally agree to pay $450 and he would bring in the furniture. He said yes and I gave him $440 in cash. He went out and told his guys to put the stuff on the driveway because that I am not paying enough. At this point he was super aggressive and I was so scared. My friend I agreed that at this point we have to calla the police. Before he came Al was screaming and banging on my door that I locked. A police officer arrived before they left and talked to us and then them. He said that the contract was really unclear and that it is difficult to do to much about. He convinced them to put the stuff in the garage. He stayed until they left and told me to go online and writ reviews on as many places as possible. These people are all but honest. BE AWARE!! I am so sad know, was looking forward to the piano installed in my living room as promised. :(   .

Service cost: $450

I wish I read everyone's review before hiring these scammers. They are frauds and and with all the negative comments makes me feel better that I am it the only one so I have a reason and evident to sue there asses. How can you quote a price of $240 which equate to 70/hr work to saying the total is $800 after packing? "REAL FRAUDSTER" pleeeeaaaassseee don't use them. They tell you afterwards that thy charge 100/flight of stairs. REALLY!! And this skipped their mind during the phone conversation?

I am starting a case on them for sure. I don't think what they are doing is right and people keep letting them get away is the problem' well it stops on me.

Anthony is the worst kind of person with whom you can deal with. He turns on a dime and does exactly opposite of what he says after he gets your contract. Before the contract he stated it is Payment on delivery, as soon as the truck got loaded he demanded 50 %, He said there will be no extra payments if you manage to unload the Truck on the date that was agreed upon , when it was delayed by half a day he washed his hands off and said it is up to the guy who delivers it, who is a totally different operator. He didn't provide a packing list and didn't even bother to acknowledge my request. The end result of Engaging Anthony is a bunch of stuff broken and a lot missing..NEVER USE HIM IF YOU ARE IN YOUR RIGHT MIND!!

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5000

After getting a lot of calls from different moving companies I decided to use Excel, my experience was nothing but stress-free. It was my first time moving out of state, since I spoke to Michael I felt very comfortable he explained all the details and gave me tips on how to save money by doing my own packing. Every time I needed his help he was there. The guys at pick up were incredibly professional and hard working. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I'll definitely will use them again, and will recommend to anybody. Thank you guys you are the best!

I recently had an excellent experience with this top notch company. I was looking for a mover that I felt comfortable with and decided to put my trust in Excel Carriers. From the first conversation I had with their sales staff I was impressed with the way everything was presented to me upfront with complete honesty. I decided to go with them and I'm happy I did. I was quoted at a price that I thought was reasonable but was prepared for the worst as I've had some bad experiences in the past.
Fast forward to moving day. The guys arrived on time and got straight to work wrapping my furniture in blankets. My fragile items were also carefully packaged as we had discussed during the scheduling process. They worked extremely fast and the truck was loaded quickly. When we arrived at my new home the same care was taken unloading my belongings. Everything that had been disassembled was put back together and everything was place as I directed. I couldn't be happier with the service I was given from start to finish and I would recommend them to any one I know who is moving. Thanks again guys for a job well done!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $945

I wish I had listened to the other negative reviews before hiring Excel for my move. This was by far the WORST moving experience I've ever had. The company I usually use wanted a very high price, and Excel's quote was reasonable for my move literally across the street- 3 men around 2 hours. That is where the positives end.

- Driver showed up late
- Excel sent 4 men instead of the 3 I was quoted. I have no choice but to accept the higher rate for the additional man. **Note- It somehow took 4 men over 3 hours to move me across the street, and both buildings have elevators**
- One mover was clearly stoned. I wouldn't have cared if he didn't damage my new home (more on this later)
- Very little care was taken in moving my boxes. They were just thrown on top of each other
- Once the truck is loaded the drivers tells me the cost is DOUBLE the quote. He also demands payment in CASH, despite my discussions with the alleged co owner that my credit card on file would be charged. My 'moving calculations' were scribbles on a piece of paper he did himself
- As the movers are unloading the truck they broke a bottle of tequila. Instead of telling me what happened they took most of the broken pieces out of the bin, let the tequila soak into my belongings (which I had to throw away) and left it for us to find later
- The stoned mover dented my wall with the corner of my coffee table, and then proceeded to put the coffee table in the bedroom. I saw him do it and he never stopped, apologized or even commented on the damage

The co owner (Anthony Jr) who I had been dealing with since the day I contacted Excel did not respond to a single message or email I left. Despite being available every other time I reached out to him, not a single person was available the day of the move to discuss the cash payment or horrible service we received. No wonder they were cheaper than every other moving company. I ended up paying what I would have if I'd gone with my preferred company. I have never felt so taken advantage of or lied to by a company. Do yourself a favor and hire anyone but Excel for your move.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $660

If I could give negative stars I would. This company completely scammed us. Initially Anthony, their “sales” guy, seemed like a nice guy. Communicated well, answered calls and emails, sent the COI to our new association, gave me a fair quote and even called to confirm the move two days before. Was supposed to be paid in cash the day of. Then move day came and their true colors showed. We were moving out of two separate one bedroom apartments and into a new place. They gave us an arrival time of 8-10am. We were helping with the move and using them for the heavy furniture, so we moved everything we could put to the curb, waiting for them. 10am rolls around and no sign of them, so I call Anthony and he lets me know they are on the way, within a half hour. Long story short, they never showed up or answered calls for the rest of the day. We called from 4 different phone numbers, no answer. Finally at 2pm, we had to rent a truck and move ourselves, and scramble to find people to help. Some of our furniture was damaged because we had to scramble to move. The best was, after the fact, Mike said he would send us $200 for the inconvenience, obviously that never happened. And when I called Anthony to complain about the scam, he told me that it wasn’t a big deal and it was like “going on a blind date and the guy doesn’t show up, it happens.” I don’t know how they sleep at night scamming people like this, promising to do a job and obviously taking another job last minute and leaving people stranded on an already stressful day. You have been warned!!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $465

My wife and I made a major mistake not checking these spot on reviews before booking Excel Carriers. Anthony was attentive and offered a good price to move my daughter to her new apartment. But when it came time to get the job done, no one at Excel was available. We had scheduled a 1:00 to 3:00 window over Labor Day Weekend, but no one ever showed OR called. I accept no excuse that is was a over a holiday. Our calls went to an answering machine so I found another number online. The first response from the person who answered my call was "how did you get this number?" He then lied to me be saying all the trucks were currently out but they would still arrive. I was supposed to receive a call as well.
After a long day of doing the move ourselves, my wife received a call from someone in the "network" who knew that Anthony had failed us but could do the job the next day. He said he knew Anthony from church and that was a good guy. With these business practices, Anthony should pray that Excel is still in business by the end of the year.

I recently hired Excel Carriers for my local move from Garfield, NJ to Fort Lee, NJ. I selected Excel Carriers from a list of about 5 different local movers which I had researched online. I hired Excel Carriers based on their competitive price, BBB rating and positive internet presence. Regardless, I was still very uneasy because of all the horror stories I had read online about the moving industry in general. Excel Carriers proved to be an exception to the bad reputations that most moving companies have. On move day, the crew arrived on time and in a very energetic and mission-oriented state of mind. Their positive attitudes and energy was contagious. They completed the job according to my contract agreement and charged me what I expected to pay. Not a penny more. There was no damage to any of my furniture and the entire moving process was seamless. I was very happy and fully satisfied with the end result. I would definitely recommend Excel Carriers to anybody looking for a mover.

I registered online for my local move on a website called Billy.com. Once I submitted my moving details and personal information, my phone started ringing off the hook. It seemed that every moving company in the Tri-State area was now calling me and competing for my business. I found it sort of exciting at first, but soon it just got plain annoying. After speaking to 7 different moving companies I stopped answering my phone and decided to pick from one of companies I had spoken to already. The only problem I encountered was that all the sales reps told me the exact same things and they all sounded like they were reading a script from a cue or dummy card. The only sales rep that stood out was Anthony Jr. from Excel Carriers. He seemed honest and sincere and explained everything in detail from start to finish. Additionally, being a Gulf War veteran myself, I was impressed with the company’s military background and staff. I proceeded to hire Excel Carriers for my move and was offered 4hrs of service for a total price of $450. On the day of my move, the three men that Anthony Jr. sent to my house to conduct the work totally blew me away. I was very sceptical and was expecting men off the streets but that was not the case. The men were true professionals! You can tell they were experienced and worked as a team to complete my job in less than 4hrs. They even prorated my charges and charged me 1/2hr less. I used the extra $50 as a well-deserved tip for the men. I must state that I made a wise decision in hiring Excel Carriers. My move was a complete success!

Anthony and his crew are great! My husband and I have been using them for years. They moved us 3 separate occasions and have done an excellent job. We a few high-end, very fragile furniture pieces and the delivered them safely and in their original condition. I was really impressed how fast and efficiently the movers operated. Moving a whole house is never an easy job. With Anthony and his team's help makes moving a thousand times less stressful. I plan on using them again with our next move. Thank you Excel Carriers!!

I own a liquidation business in New Jersey, We use these guys all the time to help us with the clean outs. We liquidate estates and small businesses, and have never had any issues at all. They take the metal to the scrap yard for us, the garbage to the dump and the remaining items back to our warehouse. Anthony is a straight up guy, and hes got a couple really amazing guys working for him. The moving business is tough, and things don't always go your way, he offers flexibility, and owns up to any of the problems that arise. Will continue to do business with him for years to come!

Move size: Commercial Move Service cost: $2000

Avoid if possible. They only do hourly job and not fixed priced. Initially the sales person will quote low. On the day of the move, the amount they will charge you is much higher. In my case, after loading the truck, the person said he needs full payment before offloading the items at my new place. The sales office was closed at that time or even if it is open, they are not reachable. I had no option but to pay him based on their calculation that total job will take 4 hours. The actual job was finished with in 2 hours and 45 mins. Of course, they did not return my money.
Beware of few things.
1. They charge 75 USD per flight(stairs) which sales guy will never mention. On the very first call with the sales guy I mentioned that I have stairs in both the apartments but he never mentioned anything about extra charge.
2. The rates in the quote that I received and the one that their employee (person who came for moving) was carrying was different. He said he will follow what he has been provided by his office. The amounts were different in my quote and his document.
I don’t recommend this moving company to anyone. Not professional at all.
