Long-distance move from Boston, MA to Durham, NC

The worst experience of my life - this is not a moving company

Signed a contract with them back in March when gas was cheaper and they did not honor the contract. Their system estimated our stuff for 350 cubic feet with extra cubic feet of $3.45. The same system gave me an estimate 420 cubic feet 4 days before the move (by this time I had already moved some of the stuff like the 62” TV and some of the clothes myself so the estimate should have been less) and they were charging me about $9 per cubic feet instead of the contract amount of $3.45 but I had no option but to accept it 4 days before the move. Their driver came in over 3.5 hours late when we had a 4 hr window of moving and decided not to move us. Our small apartment was not worth his time and his Penske rental truck. Susan Key was very rude and hung up on us when we were so desperate for customer support and didn’t know what to do when the driver left us hanging. They did not move us. I put what the next very professional company costed me in the Service cost section because it would not let me save otherwise.

Scam Artists

Do not book with this company. They are scam artists. Had a move and signed a contract with them for around $2,600 and once the movers got there they wanted to charge an additional $3,000 and and refused to go by the contract that was initially signed (elevator and moving costs were to be included and once they showed up they went back on the contracts word and charged $75 for each item they used an elevator and additional costs as well that were not outlined. They damaged my property as well. The customer service number is a scam as well and they will not answer your calls (they say you need tot all to Susan but somehow she’s “busy” all the time. They also lied and said that they promised delivery within 1-3 days and I got told on the day of that it would take them 24 days. Reporting them to the better business bureau and getting an attorney.

Long-distance move from Fort Collins, CO to Athens, GA

Scam. Worst experience

Worst experience of my entire life. Was lied to and bullied by sales rep who told us he couldnt get us a contract without a deposit. Red flag number one but we were desperate for moving company. We were ghosted by the sales rep the second we placed deposit- spoke to actual movers and they increased our estimate by $2500 (after sales rep had guaranteed we had “locked in our price”). Sales rep guaranteed delivery in 3 days- mover informed us it would be 10-14 days. Requested repeatedly to speak to someone about the discrepencies and none of our phone calls, texts, or emails were replied to. Finally got ahold of customer service where representative said “youre not getting your money back. have a good day” and hung up. would report to BBB but theyre not even accredited (haha shocking). were out $1,600 and still havent even heard from anyone.

Long-distance move from Kentucky to Missouri

Absolute scam artists!!

Actual price was over $1000 over quote, was told we went over our cubic feet with no proof other than one of the movers “looking over” our things, rude customer service rep “Susan” essentially called me a liar and talked down to my mother. Two guys I initially got the quote and signed paperwork with won’t return emails, calls or texts. Was told we had to pay the balance that was way over the agreed upon price that day before they would even start loading. And they wouldn’t take a check, banks were closed as it was Friday afternoon and the closest place to get a money order was over an hour away! My mom lost over $1600 deposit. Do not use these people!!!

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Lafayette, CA

Lost Belongings & Terrible Experience

As a business owner, I like to give the company the benefit of the doubt so writing this review is only because this has been such an awful experience. I need to move often and have hired numerous shipping companies to relocate to different states. This time, I decided to try a new company (Everest Relocation) for my move from Austin, TX to the Bay Area, CA. I'm used to the normal qualms & delays that come with the logistics of a move, but I still do not know where my belongings are even located within the United States.

Let's begin with the fact that Everest does not move your stuff, they hire out a local company so this review is also for best4umoving. My stuff was picked up back on May 29th and I was given zero timeline on when to expect my items. Since I had to leave the next day, I accepted the pick up from the movers and planned to call Everest in the next week to get more details.

I reached out to Everest on Tuesday, May 31st to inquire about a status and was told by a teller that a customer service representative would look into the shipment and get back to me the same day. Two days went by and I did not receive word back, so I called again on Thursday June 2nd. When I reached someone, I was told the same message only this time with quite a rude tone. Nonetheless, someone emailed me back that day with a generic message saying it may take 7-21 business days, but that someone would be in touch with more specific details. Given the nature of supply chain & employment constraints I waited until the following week before reaching out.

After 4 days, I emailed Everest the following week (June 6th) expressing concern of where my belongings were located and the timeline of my shipment. I was ‘greeted’ with the same generic response and no specific details. Trying to be an understanding customer, I waited another week and received no communication. Finally, I called customer services again at Everest and they said to reach out directly to the shipping company - best4ushipping. The lady went on to say if they don’t respond, to let her know and she will reach out directly to the company. I followed instructions by both emailing & calling from June 8th - June 15th with no responses. Now I was getting very worried, so I reached back out to Susan at Everest who is the customer service representative I have been contacting to let her know I cannot get a response. Instead of reaching out to the company, like she promised, she again asked me to wait and send a follow up request to them (June 22nd).

It has now been a MONTH and I have received no support or details regarding my shipment. My belongings include a $6,000 mattress that may be ruined due to the length of time it is sitting upright in a hot atmosphere. I have my computer screen that is required for work and had to buy another one. I have other work necessities, multiple kitchen appliances, clothes and other items that I have been forced to purchase duplicates of to continue with my life - costing me thousands of dollars.

At the end of the day, a shortage of labor and supply chain constraints make for a logistical nightmare. That said, this does not excuse such a rude & combative nature to your customers. All I am looking for is support and diligence in resolving my issue and would welcome the outreach from either of these companies with a solution. It really is a shame that even understanding and patient customers are getting treated like this, I hope I can change this review after an appropriate response.

Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Brooklyn, NY

PLEASE take my advice and don't use them

Please save yourselves the headache and don't use this company. I never post reviews but this was the worst moving experience I have ever had.

1. They are not movers and they do not coordinate with the movers to provide an accurate/binding estimate. They only take your money and leave you on your own after. I provided an accurate inventory list to Everest and then when the movers came, they charged me more than double the price. They also measured things incorrectly and claimed that the space required was more than it actually was (i measured after). Everest claimed they couldn't do anything about it.

2. Customer service is horrible. The representatives will take your money and never speak to you again even if you have issues.

3. They don't accept credit cards or checks. There's no protection. Always go with companies that accept credit card or checks.

4. They do not use reliable movers. I was matched with Aknazar by Everest R. The movers doubled my price and came hours late in the night and had to come again the next day. The movers were also careless and left a lot of my stuff in the public elevator of the apartment. I had multiple items that were lost during the move (including a suitcase that had shoes worth thousands of dollars) and multiple broken items. The movers also asked inappropriate questions and, as a female who was alone, this was very uncomfortable.

Please don't use them. Use a verified or well-known booking or moving company that accepts credit cards (not just bank transfers). Sometimes things are too good to be true and this company will give you a much lower estimate but then you'll be charged much more in the end when the movers arrive.

Greed and bad comunication

The company is not a moving company but a broker. They would find you the cheapest least reliable companies for your move and demand the payment of a deposit as soon as possible. As soon as they have the deposit payment they will refuse to answer questions and would hang up on you if you request information or change of services. Take your time to know the difference between brokers and moving companies.

The Worst Experience Ever!

The worst experience! The sales rep quoted my move, and after several conversations where I even sent him a video of the belongings, he gave me a final quote that, according to him, was not going to change. I explained to him how important it was for me to have the accurate cost of the move since my budget was limited. He reassured me several times that the price was not going to change. When I asked for the final contract, he emailed me a form stating "Estimate." He said, "Do not worry about it; this is the contract. The word "estimate" is just how our paperwork is printed.

He pressured me by calling, emailing, and texting me, urging me to pay the initial deposit ASAP because, according to him, the next truck was running out of space.

When I made the first payment, I emphasized the need to know he was giving me the final price. The price will not change, he stated. If the driver tells you otherwise, here is my cell phone number; call me, and I will make sure of it.

On the day of the pick-up, the driver explained that I had just some space in the truck and that I would have to pay extra for anything after that. I called the rep, and he said do not worry; my manager will resolve this. The manager explained later how the process works and how there is no such thing as a fixed rate because the charges are based on weight and space. I called back the rep several times, and he never responded to my calls. I ended up paying $ 1,500 additional due to the poor ethics of a salesman. This situation severely impacted my finances. When I addressed the issue with the company, they stated there was nothing they could do since I agreed with the carrier to transport all my belongings. (It is not like I had the choice to leave half of my belongings behind to match the price Everest Relocation gave me).

I urge customers to stay away from this company's unethical, harmful practices. They will promise anything to book your business; then, you are at the carrier's mercy.

Don’t get scammed

This “company” has to be just 2 people in a shack for the level of incompetence they put out.

They will misquote you by like 50%, tell you packing is part of the price when it isn’t and then make promises for dates they have no intention of actually meeting.

Oh when your movers show up they will inform you that they are actually just another company that these people contacted on your behalf.

All the dates you set up and any pre-agreeed upon pricing will be thrown out the window for an exorbitant new total.

Take your money elsewhere and find an actual moving company, not this sham of a company that tricks you into paying them to click 10 buttons on another companies website and then they pretend they move heaven and earth for you because they completed the move.

Oh and don’t plan your move for a weekend as they have no one on stand by for customer service on the weekends. They just shut the whole operation down for the weekend like people aren’t going to have issues. (Remember though they are running this company from a small shack it seems so when 2 staff me members make up the whole company I guess they can’t “work” all the time)

This company is a joke and I hope they get sued into the ground.

Susan and Jay should both fired for their awful service and behavior.

Not what they appear to be!

If you're looking for a moving specialist with great communication and customer service, then keep looking!

They do a great job of selling and frankly the pickup was on point with what they sold us. This is where any happiness plummets to earth.

When our agent, Brian, was telling us how wonderful they are, he essentially promised the delivery would be shortly after pick-up, well we're still waiting, more than 30 days after pickup.

As other reviews allude too, they are a broker, so you really are at the mercy of the moving company that wins their bid once your items are picked up.

The moving company we're dealing with does not answer the phone, and won't return simple requests for delivery updates. Everest completely washes their hands of it once the items are picked up. They'll also make you feel better by telling you, "sorry if you didn't understand how the moving business works"!

Now you're apt to get a very good quote, and if you're in no hurry for your stuff and you want to be completely surprised when your delivery shows up, then this might be te company for you!

The other reviews hit the nail on the head - this company is total trash. They sold me on a price and a deal then subcontracted the work to another company who has been an absolute nightmare. They refuse to help, refuse to get in contact with them, and clearly didn't communicate expectations to Move Pro - the contractors, if Everest even knows. Anthony Sims sold me on the package and promptly ghosted me on it when I needed help, and Susan Kay continues to essentially say "this is your problem now".

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY

NEVER BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. This company was a nightmare! I originally booked my move from Maryland to Colorado with Everest Moving Company and they subcontracted me out to this scam of a company Cr7 Moving & Storage. I was never informed by Everest they would be contracting my move by another company. I initially spoke with someone name Frankie who did my original intake. I informed him several times I did not have boxes I needed to be moved I had medium to large totes. He assured me this would be fine. This was a relatively small move (25 totes, 65in TV and a TV Stand). I was informed someone would contact me the Sunday before my move week to confirm nothing had changed; they were two hours late with the call. They then not only arrived 2 days behind schedule to pick up my items, they overcharged me the day they picked up my items and lied about the square footage of my move being bigger than what they were told by Everest Moving Company. When trying to contact Everest this was beyond frustrating. Frankie ignored my calls.

Susan was a joke.

When my items arrived in Colorado, my 8x10 area rug was not on the truck. I was told I had to file a claim when I contacted the company. I paid over $600 for my original rug and upon filing the claim, I was informed today that the value of my rug was $21.60 by their calculations. So not only did I pay this company to transport my items safely. They lose my rug and deliver one of my moving boxes to the move directly before mine (thank God for the people who found my box were able to contact me). I had to go pick up that box myself, that wasn't delivered. I file the claim for my rug to be notified 30-days later that the value they are willing to pay for my lost item is $21.60.

These scam artists have no integrity and will lie, cheat and steal you out of your move and cause you more stress in the end. Pay more money, and do your research on your moving companies.

You have been warned.

Overcharged, broken furniture, terrible customer service

I had an absolutely horrible experience using this company. I was charged an extra $1000 dollars over the quoted price for having stairs in my apartment even though I told them about the stairs when getting my quote. The movers made a huge gash in my wall and then denied doing it, broke my nightstand, and lost all of the hardware I needed to put my bed back together. The movers called me only a couple hours before they were going to arrive at my new apartment to drop my stuff off but I had to leave town unexpectedly and would be returning that night. They told me that they had called me multiple times in previous days to let me know when they would be arriving, but I had no missed calls or messages from them. I was told if they couldn’t drop my stuff off in a few hours, with no notice, they would put my stuff in storage, charge me thousands of dollars extra, and not deliver my stuff for about two months. I was desperately trying to work with them but the customer service manager was absolutely horrible. She would not work with my at all and was completely unsympathetic. Then, the “truck broke down” so it took another week for my stuff to get delivered after I made arrangements to have someone let them into my apartment while I wasn’t there. When they finally showed up to drop my stuff off, they broke my nightstand and lied and said they couldn’t put my bed back together because of where they parked the truck and they didn’t want to get a ticket and it would take too much time, but the reality was that they lost all the hardware needed to put my bed back together. All in all, a horrible and stressful experience. I would never ever recommend anyone use this company.

Everest uses 3rd part companies to help transport. In my case it was Lamar Moving Inc. the driver ignored my calls, their dispatch team was very RUDE and my items arrived later than my original delivery date. They called at 8:45 p.m. to tell me my items will be delivered the next day. Once they arrived, they charged me an additional “carrier fee” to move my items into my apartment! He literally made up a price. First it was $350 then $300. I tried my best to avoid this fee because my unit is located on the 1st floor, 3 doors down from the entry. I am a single young female trying to argue with 2 men about delivering my property. I tried my best to contact Everest to help settle this disagreement, of course no RESPONSE so I was force to pay and watch them literally roll my items into my apartment on a dolly. Mind you, I gave him cash so he did not mark the money on my receipt he put it directly in his wallet!! I had to call Everest 5 days in a row just to contact Susan (a supervisor). She explained there was nothing she could do given that I already paid and how I should of called Everest ( in which I called them several times!!). Please be warned they are not open 365 days and the price you agree on can quickly increase at the time of delivery. The whole process was very frustrating, unorganized and lacked customer service.

Scam

I had a very last minute commercial move that I POTENTIALLY needed help with and talked to a man named Clark. I was adamant that if I were to put money down that I needed to make my deposit refundable because the move date was not certain. Clark assured me he would do that for me over the phone. I had to move by myself that night and they couldn't send a team until the next morning. When I went to them for a refund since they weren't able to service me, they refused to refund my deposit. They will say anything to get you to give them your money. Now they are being dicks about the refund and refusing to honor their word. Now I have to dig up security camera footage to show as proof that he told me over the phone that he would make it refundable to submit for my chargeback. STAY FAR AWAY.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IT IS A SCAM

Do not look at the positive reviews they are probably fake!! This company is a complete scam and should be shut down.

NOTE: this company is a brokerage firm and hires the worst subcontracting moving companies it can find.

In short - they do not communicate at all. You'll never know when your movers will show up or deliver your items. You'll end up paying SIGNIFICANTLY more than what you were quoted. Your items will be damaged or lost and the company will make absolutely no effort to make you whole. In fact they do everything in the power to not make you whole. I spent a fortune with this company and it was the worst experience I've ever had with a BBB rated company.

I implore you to look elsewhere - find a local mover who is willing to do a big trip or sell your items and buy new ones. Anything but using these guys.

I'm currently looking into pursuing legal against these criminals - this practice needs to be stopped before this happens to anyone else.

WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!

I wish I would have read the reviews before I signed a contract. Bc of issues with the truck (bc apparently moving companies only have 1 truck) my pick up date was pushed back a day. Of course, no one tells me this till the day before. I’ve called multiple times only to hear “we’ll call you back”. No one ever calls back. Previous reviews are correct, Susan is the WORST. Just poor customer service all around and this woman had the audacity to raise her voice at me. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly as a customer. We’ll see if they even show up to move me tomorrow. I feel like I got scammed out of a lot of money. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!! If I could give negative stars, I would. If I could cancel and find a mover in less than 24, I would. I did read the reviews after I already committed to Everest.
