They will Scam you out of your Money

They will give you a low quote and then pressure you to put money down to hold your spot with the option of cancelling. I Signed a contract with Guardian van lines to broker a move to transport my belongings with an option for a full refund if cancelled before October 20, 2022. I have the contract stating twice in it that I can cancel For a full refund before that date. I called and cancelled the move on October 17th and have the cancellation request along with the email from the agent stating I cancelled. I was told I would receive an email with a tracking number to track my refund and it would be deposited in my account in thirty days. After thirty days I called and they said they had more time to give me my deposit back. Now when I call there is a recording instructing you to write an email of what you need and they will get back with you on the next business day. I have left them at least four emails requesting the status of my refund with no reply. You can’t get a hold of anyone at the number that is listed on their website. I found another website that has the same address as guardian van lines with a different phone number and when I called that number they said they were a different company and when I asked why they have the same address they hung up on me. I would like my refund of 1676.00 that was given in good faith that I could cancel before the date as described above. I have all supporting documents and this should not be allowed to happen to me nor any one else. This was back in October so I figure I will not see my money. They have terrible reviews everywhere. Don’t trust them. I am going to post everywhere I can about this company because it is a shame a company can do this to innocent people to take your money.

Pitiful

I very seldom write reviews, but this company deserves all the spite and negative press they can get. The companies they do business with are rackets and cheats, and despite Guardians promise of "satisfaction guaranteed" they will not expend any serious effort towards resolving disputes or addressing issues as they arise. Guardian contracted with high end movers, who then subcontracted to a driver with American Trucking. The driver was misogynistic and terribly rude, arrived wearing an ankle monitor, LIT A JOINT while dropping off our stuff, and refused to honor the contract of actually moving our belongings into the new house, but instead dropped it all off on the side of the road. If you are not familiar with contracted moving services, guardian WILL take advantage of you. And if you are familiar, they will certainly TRY to take advantage of you. I amashamed that I did not do better research, and that I allowed myself to provide revenue to this company.

Smooth Movers

Henry and his team at Guardian Van Lines have been top-notch to work with. With movers, consumers need reliability - for appointments to estimate and move, the care given to their goods, and communication. A caring attitude is also very helpful, as moving is one of our most stressful things. My clients' professional care from Henry and Guardian Van Lines has been outstanding. I would not recommend any other mover.

Get a POD

If you love being lied to and blamed for someone else's errors, hire Guardian. If zero stars were an option, it would still be too generous.

-First, they lowballed my quote on my inventory. The sales rep. neglected to put down half the items I told him, then showed up the day of the move and doubled it. Cost went from $4,200 to $8,100. I had a couple more boxes than what I originally anticipated, but got rid of a large dining table and two big chairs. In no way, shape or form should my cost have doubled.

-I got to spend the better part of a day painting scuffed baseboards and walls in my home 3 days before closing because the movers were careless.

-Next, they took my move-in date in the new state and said it shouldn't be a problem to have my stuff delivered the following day. Calling to confirm closer to that date, they told me my "higher inventory than expected" forced them to move me onto a different truck that wasn't coming until Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Again, zero communication with me about that. I slept on an air mattress for 10 days and had to take a day off during my first week of my new job (NOT a good look). I had a full week open for delivery before I started my new job. I was told Monday or Tuesday were a definite. It didn't come until the following Wednesday.

-The movers finally showed up and gave zero notice. Not a phone call or head's up until they are literally outside my door. Had I not called Guardian every day for an update, I wouldn't have even known they were coming that day. The driver tried to swindle me for another hundred bucks for some made up reason about my door being far from the truck. Absolutely not. I tipped him and the other two movers after--who were very nice and professional--but that was MY choice.

-Icing on the cake, a good majority of my furniture is broken or at least damaged in some way. I don't even have the energy at this point to file a claim with whatever protection was offered.

I have never in my life written a bad review on anything. DO NOT use this company. Get a POD and hire your own movers.

Absolute Con Artists

- This is NOT a moving company, it is a ***brokerage company*** (aka dispatcher). They hold zero accountability for the horrible things the 3rd party moving companies will do to you on moving day. Once they take your “deposit” - which goes ENTIRELY to the salesman by the way - they do not care at all about your experience and will not do a thing to help you. NOTE: they also get the ENTIRE BINDING FEE. Do not let these people rip you off.

- Deliberate lies told by salesman to just get your business (deposit). They pretend to be on the phone with the moving company, negotiating a price for your move but it is literally a show they are trained to put on. When the moving company arrived, they said that Guardian had never discussed any of the things they claimed to have discussed with them. DO NOT WORK WITH “SHAWN JOHNSON”. I am wondering if he is even a real person or just some alias they use for all their salesmen, because I have not been able to reach *him* since they got my money. Tried him via email, text, and phone call for weeks now. Zero returned calls.

- If you run into any problems, ones that deliberately violate the contract you sign with them, they will tell you there is nothing they can do to help because you agreed to the fees on the day of the move (though they will most likely be unreachable the day of your move, as they were on mine). If you decide that the moving company is being unethical, or that the new quote provided on the day of your move is insanely high and not within your budget, you are screwed. You will not get your deposit back from Guardian because they have a 48-hour cancellation period (con artists). They will take an exorbitant amount of money from you and offer you zero customer support. If you ask to speak to a manager, they will tell you that the managers do not speak to customers. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, the answer is no. There is zero accountability with this company.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID THIS BROKER!

Called for a quote & was robbed out of $1800

Do not do it!!! Even calling for a quote will make you lose out on money. They withdrew money from my acct (I provided banking info to hold my quote estimate)… I went through he** to get my money back!!! They said they never received my “cancellation” request via email & took the funds. Then said they tried calling me (but the person said they had the wrong number). Then said a check will be mailed to me in 60 days for my refund!!! This is a scam!!! Don’t do it. I’m working on getting my money back now. My bank (Chase) cannot help because they withdrew it like a check & had my info.

Worse moving company - move from la to miami

WORSE MOVING BROKER EVER! Do not use this company. they are liars and do nothing to help once they have your money. I was told a price and that my items would be delivered as they were picked up. This was not true! The company they use who is western lines movers and they charged me me an additional 2k for my move even though i had less items than what i had given in my estimate. The movers did not have the right tools to dismantle my bed and said they couldn't take it apart they already charged me the additional price, they ended up destroying my bed whilst taking it down and leaving damages to my apartment such a broken door and hole in the wall ( all pictures will be attached ) i then spoke to the owner of the company and he reassured me that my bed would be rebuilt and not to worry. I was also promised my items would arrive on the 2nd of April as they were picked up on the 25th of March. After no communication for weeks, both companies not being able to find my items i was then able to track it down after 6 weeks, my boxes finally came on the 3rd of may, broken and clearly not handled or stored well. The movers were unable to build my bed due to the damages and i had 3 boxes, 1 rug and 1 chair missing and 5 boxes were missing. I am yet to have my bed built and had to pay $300 for someone to fix my bed. They were able to track my boxes but most things came damages as you can see the state of the boxes.

Long distance move

This company’s business practices are appalling. They are communicative until they have made the sale, and then you can’t get them to respond to save your life. I was given a two day time frame for the pickup of my items, and when I contacted them on the second day to get an update, I was told the move couldn’t be handled for two more days. I had repeatedly expressed that the items had to be removed by a certain day due to new tenants moving into the unit I was vacating. The move day was rescheduled, and on the rescheduled day, same story: no communication, no updates. When I finally got a hold of the driver, he told me that he was in another state and would not be there for at least two more days. As a result, I had to rent a truck and move my items into a storage unit. I was repeatedly deceived - every time I asked for an update, I was told something different. The driver is close, he is 1,5 hours away. All wrong and deceitful. I have nothing good to say about this company or my experience with them, and cannot recommend anyone engaging with them,

TERRIBLE communication

I hired them for a long distance move from NY to MN. I hired them initially in May and paid them their deposit. They quoted me the standard 48h move window and told me that I would be all set for a Sunday move and would get a call on Friday with the actual time. Then, on Friday, I received no such calls and when I called the company, they kept pushing the anticipated time forward and said I would hear Sat morning. I tried calling and emailing and I still hadn't heard by Sat evening so made alternate moving plans. Sunday night around 8pm, I finally received a call from the movers who initially called the backup number, used the wrong name, and told me they had just gotten the contract that day. When I called the company on Monday, they told me that communication was hard through the weekend since it was a holiday. I had a hard move date as I was trying to make a flight at my destination, which I had previously expressed to them. Furthermore when I talked to the company, they told me I was not able to speak to a supervisor because they had nothing to do with the customer service end. Frankly, their communication was appalling and I would strongly recommend everyone stay away.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Denver, CO

Worst moving experience ever

This company will outrageously misquote you and then take no responsibility.

The inventory I provided was exactly what they took on the day of the move and they charged me more than $2000 in addition to the original quote. Supposedly because you have to pay for the cubic feet that are above the item that you are shipping - absolutely ridiculous.

They were more than two weeks late from when they said they would deliver. They said that it would be within a few days of the initial date I gave and then it was impossible to reach anyone about where my stuff was or what the ETA would be. Technically they have a month from the delivery date to deliver so there was nothing I could do. It was a good thing I had an air mattress with me.

Upon delivery, they charged me a long carry fee even though the truck was able to park within 50 feet of the elevator (an extra $1000).

Do not use this company if you want to have any piece of mind while you move since it's already a stressful process.

Be very aware!!

Be very aware! Our experience with Guardian Van Lines regarding our move has been both horrible and deeply troubling. I will write a more comprehensive review about this company later, but for now, I warn those who are thinking of hiring this company not to do that. They are not a moving company, but a brokerage service. They will do everything to win your business, including giving you a lower quote. However, they are not a moving company, but a brokerage service. You will not just end up paying for your move, but much more ,which will significantly raise the price. Their business practice has been both unprofessional and misleading. We felt pressured in signing the contract without being informed by an agent that we could cancel the contract within the first 48 hour window upon signing. We had an intoxicated man show up at our door asking us to sign blank forms without anything written on them. I was told that he couldn’t do anything until I signed them. You get the picture. Their business practices are both questionable and “shady”. Feel free to reach out to me for more specifics. The worst experience came when they contracted Chen Services Incorporation (President: Chen Ohana, 3379 SW 49th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 to do the actually move, loading and unloading. The foreman came to our door smelling of alcohol, being extremely unprofessional, making me sign blank forms before he could do any work. What a nightmare that was. Significant delays during the pick up and during the delivery. So much to share, but first decided to warn everyone here before making a full report later on. Sean

Long-distance move from Long Beach, CA to Bozeman, MT

Never performed.

We hired Guardian Van Lines to move some household items from Long Beach, Ca to MT. Paid them $1,154 upfront total estimate of $2,876.31.We then paid an additional $1,890. After a month of calling and calling when Shai told my husband it would be to MT within a week. They said it is still in CA in storage!!! Total waste of $ 3,044!We arrived with a truck and moved it ourselves with a U-Haul. We consider ourselves lucky to have gotten all items back!! BEWARE!!! They are only a moving coordinator/broker agent. They then had Western Van lines pick up. They could have saved us so much grief and additional expensive to then rent the van to get the items to MT!!!!

I wish I had read some of the reviews before hand.

Don't hire scam moving companies

Had a terrible experience moving cross country with this company. We're a military family and have dealt with 7 moving companies in our 15 yrs and this by far was the WORST. Committed every scam tactic on the BBB site.

They broker with other moving companies that have no online presence for you to verify. They sent one of these companies to our place while I was gone and used ambush tactics on my Stage 4 wife, holding our hhg hostage till she signed a new contract to increase the price 10K over the estimate.

Please don't let this happen to you and do yourself a favor and watch out for any of these red flags when working with any moving company.

bbb.org/article/news-releases/22659-know-your-mover-bbb-study-reveals-scammers-price-gouge-take-belongings-hostage-and-destroy-goods

p.s. they also refused to put our hhg in any of the rooms but one, refused to take all their trash, refused to provide their names so they could be complained about.

Long-distance move from Mesa, AZ to Fernandina Beach, FL

Deceitful and Unprofessional

If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Guardian is among the worst I've ever had with any company.

It started with my initial call with their sales representative, Joe Baker. He made his sales pitch but I hemmed and hawed. Sensing my hesitation, he declared, "Hey, you're in luck! We have a truck moving to Florida next week." That convinced me to sign up. Over two months later, my stuff was finally delivered--two months in which my only furniture was an air mattress a friend loaned me.

This excellent customer service continued with Natalie, one of Guardian's phone representatives. After hurriedly driving from Arizona to Florida to beat the non-existent delivery van, I got a call saying my check to Guardian bounced and my furniture wouldn't be delivered until I paid up. Surprised, I went to my bank and discussed the situation with the bank manager who emphatically stated the bank had paid Guardian and produced a copy of the cashed check. I called Guardian to say there was some confusion but the check had been cleared. I got connected to Natalie, who, to my astonishment, berated me for bouncing the check and wouldn't even consider there might be a mistake, instead accusing me in so many words of being a liar. She would be convinced only if I emailed her a copy of the check--presumably because she thought I didn't have one. After I did so, Natalie sheepishly said the matter had been resolved. She took no responsibility on behalf of her company and made no apology for her rudeness and her offensive and false accusation of check-kiting.

To add insult to injury, one of the items I had delivered was an organic latex queen mattress. I bought it a few years ago. Today it would cost around $2,500. It was never delivered. The company Guardian had given the contract picked up my belongings but subcontracted to another company to make the actual delivery. This outfit, the Newix Corp, texted me constantly about getting paid but when I was told to contact them about the missing mattress, my texts were never answered and my calls went straight to voice mail with the promise of a quick reply. But you guessed it, no one ever called back.

Disgraceful. What a sordid experience.

Use them again

Guardian Van Lines comes highly recommended by the individual I spoke with to organize the move! When I called to organize the move, the woman I dealt with was very kind, and the quote she gave me was really precise. While moving everything swiftly, they were careful not to scratch or harm anything. The estimate I received included the move of everything was quite inexpensive. After what my mother witnessed, she will hire Guardian Van Lines for their impending move. Working with this moving team was a pleasure.

Long-distance move from Oakland, CA to Charlotte, NC

Do Not Hire Guardian Van Lines!

Let me start from the beginning. I recently hired Gaurdian Van Lines for my move from San Francisco to Charlotte. I spoke with a sales representative named Celeste Rossi who, to her credit, was very friendly and professional over the phone. She seemed to genuinely care about my situation and I felt that I could trust her (my mistake.) throughout the beginning of my partnership with guardian van lines everything was going smoothly. Customer service was super friendly they were willing to accommodate several changes in my pick up date. However, one crucial fact that they do not explain very well over the phone is that they are not a shipper but a broker dealer. They subcontract with various fly-by-night moving companies that do the actual moving and they matched me with Kim Van Movers. The moving truck arrived to pick up my belongings on time and the movers were very friendly and professional. However once my items were picked up communication completely broke down. My point of contact from the subcontractor, Kim Van Movers, is a gal named Roberta (if that’s even her real name) who only communicates via text message. I made several attempts to reach out to Roberta for an update on the ETA of my belongings and and she would reply back with vague and noncommittal answers. I was able to get Roberta on the phone by calling her from a different phone and I was able to get her to cop to the fact that my items were still in their warehouse awaiting delivery (this was one month after the pick up date .) Meanwhile, Celeste and the rest of the customer service team from guardian van lines went completely dark. I made several phone calls and sent several emails and to this day have not been able to get in touch with any human being from guardian Van lines. My guess is that they blocked my number and my emails since every time I call it immediately goes to voicemail. according to the fine print of the contract guardian van lines is still supposed to be a customer advocate who should be responsible for reaching out to their subcontractors to resolve customer disputes. however from the time that my items were picked up guardian demonstrated a complete dereliction of duty. it has been over two months since my pick up date and to this day I still do not have a clear timeline on when my items are going to arrive. I’ll occasionally get a reply from Roberta who will offer a lame excuse such as “ i’m trying to get in touch with the driver“ and “ your items are on the way. The driver will call you 24 hours in advance.” After extensive Internet searches I was able to find very little information about Kim van movers and since guardian is not returning my calls I am unable to get information from them either. Needless to say this entire situation has been A frustrating nightmare. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they finish the delivery but I become more pessimistic with each day that goes by. Do yourself a favor and hire literally anyone else. Avoid this piece of shit company and their con artist subcontractors at all costs.

Long-distance move from Port Hueneme, CA to Colorado Springs, CO

Nightmare moving experience

I was charged more than double the quote even after they sent someone to my house to do an inventory of everything going on the truck. The trucking company they used not only broke down and they had to reload everything onto another truck, but I was unable to get ahold of anyone to get a new ETA. Since this move involved a lot of critical medical equipment for my medically complex child, it was extremely stressful not knowing when her medical supplies would arrive. As it turned out the only person who called me was the driver several days later when he was 10 minutes away from our new place and while we were over 2 hours away. We were forced to help the driver load all our stuff into the 3 story home because they did not send anyone to help unload, despite reassurances we wouldn’t have to do any of the loading or unloading. To top everything off, we ended up getting a bed bug infestation in all our stuff during the move.
