DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! We called Empire Moving and had a contract with them. [NAME EDIT] told me he would be my contact through the entire process. I never spoke with him, again. He as always on the phone, they said. Left messages and he never returned my calls. Crappy service!! They sent VDMD that Saturday. Our quote was for $2450. When VDMD arrived, they hit us with an additional $1483.66 AFTER the truck was loaded. Empire was closed at that time, so I could not complain. When we arrived in Florida, we had to pay the original remaining balance of approx. $1400 and the additional $1483.66. That's $3974.00 to move a two bedroom apartment. They counted the lamp shades and the lamp separately. Oh, and be sure to count your vacuum cleaner, any cooler, brooms, mops. In other words, every damned thing they have to touch. I was not told this by Empire, so I hold them to blame as well. They will get this same review!! Screw these guys to the wall!! I called Empire the following day and they said since I didn't contact them on Saturday, there was nothing the could do. THEY WERE ALREADY CLOSED!! What the heck was I supposed to do??? The entire thing was BS and I will tell anyone and everyone to NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I will rent a UHaul and hire college students the next time I move.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3900

Do not utilize this company. They provide you with 3rd party movers. Empire told me my items would arrive around Early/Mid April, 2022. They told me only if I needed storage would my items come later. That was not the case. It has been weeks and my items were placed in storage simply because the third party company can take up to 30 days for delivery. The company they provided me is known as Carefree movers.

Horrible customer service from both parties.

They baited me into a price and upon pick up arrival they gave me a new estimated price and added fuel price. Empire has failed to contact me via phone or email on where my items are. They say a manager will return the call and they never have. It’s been weeks and now they want me to contact the 3rd party Comapny which took weeks to tell me my items never left the state that I moved from. I could have done this myself.

Read the contract because it automatically probes you to sign for no insurance which the items they damage will only be refunded 0.60 cents per pound. They will not give you a full refund of the item purchased.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3500

This company is a scam. I talk to someone name Chris ( not his real name) regarding moving from Fenton, MI to Orlando, Florida. He stated that he had a almost full truck and could do it for $2,600 because it was on the way and they needed to fill the truck. I specifically asked him if he was a BROKER and he said NO, that was a lie. The movers "Hello Movers" not Empire Movers arrived and only gave me 300 cubic feet for my things. I said that wouldn't secure all my things and that I would get another company. he stated my $900 deposit was non refundable. I didn't want to lose my money so I told him to fill the space. Chris stated I would get my items in 3 days because remember he was headed this way. they picked up my iteme on July 30th and it's now August 23rd they moved my furniture from a clean secure storage unit to a warehouse in Farmington hills, MI which is approximately 20 miles. The moving company "HELLO MOVERS" contracted by Empire moving will not tell me when I will receive my furniture and they have the nastiest attitude. I am definitely look to bring a Class Action lawsuit against Empire Moving and Hello Movers. If we do nothing they will continue to mislead and scam others. DO NOT USE THESE COMPANIES!!! Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2600

My items are currently being held hostage and their customer service teams gets aggressive when you follow up. I have been over talked, spoken to disrespectfully and yet still no drop off date for my items. Empire is a broken and the company they sub contracted t is refusing to give me a delivery ETA. Do no do this! Also they attempted to double the price eon the day of pick up forcing my to rent a haul and store half my items so that I could use another mover company later on.This broker and its affiliates are scammers. I have since filed a police report, and an official complaint with http://fmcsa.dot.gov/ and am preparing to take legal action.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $2100

First, they are a broker but they don’t mention that . To keep it short and sweet, they get you to sign a contract “estimate”, knowing the price is going to change. They quoted one price, knowing all details, then upon arrival acted surprised about the golf cart they charged me extra to haul (twice extra actually since they charged $400 for it and then didn’t include it on the itemized list, then added another $600 to get it on the list. The rep, Eli, played victim and acted like he’s in trouble and tried to add $1200, then we agreed to half that). When driver(SannahVanLines) arrived he claimed the cart would take the entire 749 cft they allotted for on the “estimate”. That’s where they get you. They then told me the rate would now be over $7,000 (remember it started at $5,000). When I tried to explain the conversation I had with Eli and that everything was clear, all they wanted to do was tell me they have a signed contract and if they don’t load 749cft of my goods and I send them away I lose the $2596 deposit. And to top it off they were rude and hung up on me. A second manager called with a slightly better (fake) demeanor but told me the same rehearsed lines. The fact that there was nothing unique about my experience and they had well rehearsed lines tells me all I (and you) need to know. This is their standard business practice. If there are so many issues like this why haven’t they tried to ensure up front everything is covered so we don’t get into this position? Because it’s their business model. I can’t imagine how they’d handle my goods not arriving on the promised (I’m sure they’d hide behind another word here) dates. I will eat the deposit before I trust them with my goods. I highly discourage you from using this company. And I NEVER write reviews. They are that bad!

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $5662

We had a terrible experience with this company and still are dealing with it. They miss quoted us by half. On the day of our move across country the quote doubled from $7500 to $14500. When speaking to the Foreman he advised Empire would assist on the following business day to find out what happened and make it right. We had no other choice but to let the movers take our items and he required we sign their contract. We had to get out of this home that day and did not have another option so were forced to proceed. When calling on the following business day, Empire has done the opposite and has completely treated me with more disrespect than any company I’ve dealt with. They stated it was our duty to verify square footage in our initial quote taking no ownership in their professional duty based on items projected and stated we doubled our load. Having several people review including myself our load did not double, it seems to be this companies objective in luring people in to use them showing they have lower costs than they do. In working to get things situated I have received quotes for less than $6k to get the job done with the same size truck and location. In trying to just retrieve our items after a nightmare of a situation, Empire is not willing to even assist in the coordination with Hermes the moving company who has our items. Empire is relinquishing all duty to make this right to me to handle directly with their business contact. No apology, no understanding of the imposition this put us in, wouldn’t even let me speak when the manager contacted me from Customer Service. Jaylin proceeded to advise this was our professional responsibility (we have never moved across country) after raising her voice, interrupting me then putting me on hold to come back with no assistance. I’ve never written a poor review before nor do I believe in giving bad reviews to companies because I can relate with ownership but I just hope this never happens to another family again. I felt it was my duty to warn future customers from this experience. It has completely ruined our drive across country and created a nightmare to unwind.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $14500

Like many of the complaints below, Empire Moving did a “bait and switch with me also”. Here’s how. My move was scheduled for 10 May 2023, with an initial estimated cost of $4466. When I provided my “detailed inventory” to the sales representative in March 2023, he told me that a quality assurance person would contact me a few days before the move to do a final review/update of my inventory. Having previously done embarkation in the military for over 16 years, I had a fairly in-depth discussion with the sales representative about the methods/tools that would be used to “estimate the size and weight” of my inventory. To assuage my concerns, he assured me that their quality assurance folks “were very skilled” at this, with “years of experience, and that their estimates were done with a high level of accuracy.

On May 4th, the quality assurance guy called and asked if there were any changes to my inventory. I told him that I was removing 8 furniture items (side-by-side refrigerator, washer, dryer, patio table and 4 chairs) from the list, but my box count grew from 20 to 61. He said just tell me how many of the 61 boxes are small, medium, or large, to which I replied - what are your dimensions for small, medium, and large? He gave me the length, width, and height dimensions for each box size category. I then asked if I could give him the completed update in the morning (5 May), because I was now going to measure each box to ensure that he had accurate information for his estimate. After removal of the aforementioned furniture items, and the addition of the 41 boxes, the quality assurance guy said that my price was now $6066 (a $1600 increase).

On 10 May, a subcontracted moving company arrived at my house with a 26ft moving van. After doing their walk-through, the supervisor said that I would need “twice as much space” as estimated on the contract, and that the additional space would cost me approximately $4000 more dollars. It turns out that only half of the truck was allotted to me, when in actuality I needed the entire 26ft. I thought there has to be a mistake, because there’s no way that Empire’s quality assurance folks “who are very skilled”, with “years of experience” at doing estimates with a high level of accuracy, COULD BE OFF BY 100%.

I attempted to reach out to Empire to address the issue – to no avail. I declined the service, told my credit card company to withdraw my deposit, and will now fight it out with them.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $10066

I told them everything that had to move and video call with them. i had a four bedroom home with a basement once you talk to them youre giving a price they dont tell you moving company charges for everything they lead you to believe them and end up with higher prices and damage furniture that they dont want to here about and the movers Pro Tri state movers dont want to know i have pictures of furniture and 2 tv broken that either one dont care about all they care about was money they were charging i would never recommend either company pictures on my iphone
