Long-distance move from Texas to Virginia

Do not recommend.

Firstly, I found out about this company through some research and I chose Empire because of the ratings and verification it has. I immensely regret this decision as the quality and service for 75% of move was terrible, especially for the price I paid. I had many other companies with lower prices for the same inventory list, but as a firm believer in the importance of a quality move, I decided to pay extra money thinking that it would ensure better service.

1. Empire changed my move date without asking me and communicated the info to me 2 days before my scheduled move. I do not know of another company that states the customer has to change the move date based on the moving company, rather than the other way around. If I can not make a simple decision as a moving date after paying almost $10,000, I do not know what other decisions Empire would even account my input in.

2. The most expensive and valuable item in my inventory is my baby grand piano. It has been a family item that is high in value and meaning. Empire stated that I needed a third party company to separately "disassembly and safely package the piano as it is such a valuable item". This cost me another $1000 SEPARATE from the service cost to empire PLUS AN ADDITIONAL $300 bulky item fee. I spent that money to safely guard my piano in transit and delivery.

HOWEVER, the "safe packaging" that I spent an addition $1,400 on somehow "moved" during transit, causing detrimental scratches and dents to my valuable instrument. Aside from the actual product damage, the process to even FILE a claim is draining and so inconsiderate to the customer (if you follow the link to filing a claim and initiate the process, you'll see).

3. Following my recognition of the damaged piano upon the delivery, the movers did not even give me a chance to take a proper picture of the damage and continued to push me away by saying "just file a claim". I cannot file a claim without a PROPER PICTURE. I am almost entirely sure Empire or whoever is reviewing the claim will say they will not offer us any compensation simply due to the quality of the picture (as I took it while the movers continued to move the piano without my permission).

4. I am not entirely sure who I even need to criticize for this move because so many different companies were involved. The movers team, provided by US Movers Inc., were cursing and fighting within each other. I was genuinely worried and scared that they would fight in front of my family. One of the workers was not listening to who seemed like the leader of the team and continued to point fingers and say "You better calm down", in addition to cursing.

I will stop here as I cannot even begin to explain the other issues I had for my move on this review. If you have read this, DO NOT sign with Empire. They will tell you when you call for a quote that they're verified, good rating, etc. and that of course they have a bad review here and there. Listen to that bad review, because I was in your place 3 weeks ago and am now in a completely different place.

Long-distance move from San Antonio, TX to Columbia, SC

A scam.

I’m currently going through the process of getting a refund from this company via legal channels. They charged me a deposit of $900+, scheduled the wrong date with the third party company, NEVER showed up, gave me the run arounds about actually servicing my move or a refund until I told them I would start recording the conversation- I was then told I could request a refund from my bank because they wouldn’t be able to service my move. The good thing is I recorded the conversation and had it transcribed for my bank so that they can properly investigate and issue a refund. This company, even after listening to the audio said “our CSR said you could call for a refund because we can’t stop you but that doesn’t mean you’re entitled” he completely skipped over the fact that the CSR literally told me they would not be providing me with the services I paid for. I’ve done some research and learned that I’m only one of MANY who have been scammed by empire moving company, just do your research. They will overcharge, never show up but charge you, or your property will be damaged upon arrival. I felt so hopeless after having to last minute hire a moving company during a pandemic due to this company’s in professionalism and utter disregard to fulfilling their end of the contract. DO NOT go with this company.

Scam do Not Use !!

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I was given a quote by Jeff Rice who, I went over every single item, even measurements with him and receive an estimate/price. I specifically asked him about hidden fees and he stated that there are none. I did a quality assurance check with a Suzi, I added items and was charge $600 which I was okay with, she told me to get a check or money order for half of my balance and that I would pay the other half at drop off, so I purchase $917.50 money orders. HERE IS WHEN IT WENT SOUTH. On pick up 2 men and a female came in a Penseke truck. One male stepped foot in my home, had me sign paper work then said okay its going to be $900 more (revised estimate). NOT ONE item changed from the quality assurance call 2 days prior with Suzi. When I would not sign the paper, asking for clarity he become upset and called his supervisor. I tried to get Jeff on the phone who had told me he would be available through this process LIE. Danielle who claimed to be Jeff's supervisor tried to get me to agree to sign the paper stating that the price would now be $4300, she stated that I had an attitude and was very rude with me. During that time the mover turned to me and said "get another company, I am not doing it" and ripped up my paperwork". Danielle proceeded to poorly explain why the price increased, claiming that the movers may put my belongings in the truck and there would be not need for an price change but that I needed to sign off on the revised estimate first. THAT SOUNDS RIDICULOUS, She then stated well your money is nonrefundable. HOWEVER, I did not refuse the service, I refused to sign the paperwork without a clear explanation. The mover actually walked out and left while I was on the phone with Danielle. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I DON'T CARE HOW LONG I TAKES I WILL BE SEEKING MY REFUND LEGALLY.

Long-distance move from Owings Mills, MD to Bradenton, FL

Horrific and traumatic experience!!

This is a broker moving company that will take your money and then deal with you so rudely and your stuff will be delivered at some convoluted timeline which is not even in the contract. All you can do is first speak to the sales person- perfection- once you are booked- the nightmare begins- rude, condescending behaviors and answers like-"I don't know where your stuff is" or I can't answer or I can't contact the transporter. If you use this company- be sure you have a huge amount of tolerance, patience and be willing to get an attorney. I am so frustrated and this has been the worst and nightmarish experience that I would warn every single person from using this company. Additionally, the quote will go up about 3 times before they pick your stuff. This is the experience of someone who ended up paying $16,000 and I still don't have my stuff. You do the math. I could have done business class flights back and done two trucks by now in 1/3rd the cost. This is Empire white glove for you. The packers already broke stuff while they were packing in front of my eyes.

Long-distance move from California to New York

Bait and switch.

My experience was that of a classic bait-and-switch, with some bullying. They were professional in the run-up to the move, but when they identified a van line to move my possessions, they chose what must be the single worst rated moving company - https://www.yelp.com/biz/best-moving-van-line-santa-clara. The reviews are comically bad, bordering on criminal. I was deeply disturbed that they would even consider using this company. When I voiced my concerns I was told 'all moving companies have some bad reviews.' This was, in my opinion, an unreasonable attempt at placating me. I was told that they would find another moving service, without a definite timeframe. INSTEAD they called me the next day, telling me that the day of my move had receded (from Tuesday to Monday), with the SAME company. I was told, again, that they couldn't find another company and that 'all moving companies have some bad reviews'. This is nothing if not bullying. I was certainly naive in choosing them, and shocked at their brazenness. They communicate well, but I believe that under the surface they run a model of getting people on bad moving lines in high volume.

Avoid them, and moving brokers in general, at all costs.

Buyer beware.

Empire Movers is not a moving company, they are a moving broker. A middleman. They collect a hefty fee up front, farm out the actual moving services for your move to a moving carrier, and wash their hands of you.

This a predatory company in a predatory industry. There's no reason to use Empire, or any other moving broker for that matter. They provide no services to speak of, and you could instead book directly with the carrier Empire would have contracted to avoid paying Empire's fee. It's no small wonder why they don't tell you who will handle the move upfront.

Let me reiterate. In exchange for their fee, Empire does absolutely nothing for you. This arrangement is exclusively to Empire's benefit. There's no need for them to provide customer service when their company doesn't and can't do anything about your move once it has begun, so they do not.

On the phone, they will offer no unsolicited indication that they're just a broker and won't be responsible for your move. They are extremely friendly at booking and make heavy use inclusive language like "our vans", "our movers", "full-service", etc. Their telephone rapport would indicate to any reasonable person that Empire has their own fleet and will handle the move themselves. This is a lie. The devil is in the details, which in this case is their contract. If anything goes wrong, you better believe that the only answer you will get is "but you signed the contract".

When reading these other reviews, it's safe to disregard any comments, positive or negative, about the quality of the move, the movers, damage, and so on. Empire has nothing to do with any of this. It's unlikely the carrier you end up working with will be the same as any other person reviewing here, and you won't know until they're at your door.

Long-distance move from Washburn, IL to Lander, WY

Horrible untrustworthy company.

Was given a quote that was less than 1/2 of what I will end up paying after detailed inventory by 3 of their employees. I was promised my delivery would be 3-5 days. it has now been 10 and they tell me it's just sitting somewhere and there is not eta. Now they tell me read the fine print it could be up to 30 days to get your things. they also tell me they can't bring a truck up my driveway even though there was one that came up it yesterday for a different deliver and its an additional $400 on top of the rest. I was also told they prefer cash? really please go with another company don't make the mistake I did. this is awful and I have no idea when I will have a bed or furniture at all. it was picked up on Aug. 31. it is now Sept 10 and I cannot even get an eta.

Long-distance move from Ypsilanti, MI to Lewisville, TX

Longer delivery and now no delivery date scheduled.

I hired Empire Moving Group who hired Insync Movers. On Oct 13th our things were picked up. I was told it would take 5-10 business days. Yesterday was the 10th business day. When I called I was told that my things are still here in Michigan and they didn’t know when my things would be delivered because there was no driver scheduled. When I asked for a refund and to tell me where my things were that I would go pick it up and take it to Texas myself. I was told it was too late for that. These companies are scammer, and lie about when your things will be delivered. When I asked about being told 5-10 business days they said it’s just an estimate and that it could take 21 or more business days. I tried looking up their USDOT number and was not able to locate it. I filed a complaint also with US Department of Transportation. I also found a News 9 broadcast online about a lady in August who waited over two months for her things. Do not use these companies. They don’t care about you or your things. My things are sitting somewhere on a truck and they have not scheduled a driver to deliver our things.

Even though their site doesn’t say it they are a broker.

Long-distance move from Sonoma, CA to Franklin, TN

More than half our furniture is missing

It took 34 days to receive a fraction of our things in a $8000 move from California to Tennessee (4 bedroom house move). Apart from being up charged from our original quote by $3000, we would’ve just appreciate receiving our items. Truck finally arrived today:

Most of our boxes have been gone through, with new tape and boxes used...when we packed everything ourselves. Even one of our picture frames was stolen off the picture. My brand NEW mattress frame that I’m still making payments on was missing. All the furniture for my newborn’s nursery is missing (crib, glider, and so on). A BOB stroller that my grandma gifted us..gone. Our dining table, 2 coffee tables, and all the chairs are missing. Let me reiterate...NOT A SINGLE chair was returned to us. All we got was one mattress (no box spring or headboard which is missing apparently) only one bedside table (the second bedside table that matches is missing), two couches, and kitchen and garage boxes that have CLEARLY been gone through. My mom is missing expensive wine. Some things we packed neatly in boxes are now returned out of boxes, while some boxes are only half full when we packed carefully and to the max. After sleeping on an air mattress for 2 months and waiting 34 days for our things, and being out of a job due to having a new baby and covid, I am beyond upset. I’m a single mother.. I can’t afford to replace my things with their $.60 per pound insurance. Looks like I’ll be sleeping on an air mattress indefinitely... I sure wish I didn’t spend $8k that I could’ve used to try to replace my stolen things.

This company will scam you!

Do not use this company! They won’t tell you this, but they are just a broker, not an actual moving company. We told them exactly how much we had to move, including all dimensions that we measured.

When the moving company that they brokered with arrived, they insisted that we owed double the original quote, even though they confirmed the same inventory on the quote but said the volume would be double on the quote. We had approximately 370 cft reserved and the moving company said they will charge us for 800 cft. For example we had 13 large standard moving boxes where each measures approximately 4.125 cft for a total of ~53 cft, but the moving company said just those boxes are going to be 200 cft. We asked for a firm volume and they said they will load the truck and then measure and give us the actual volume. We were told that if we didn’t agree they would load our stuff and then dump it on the side of the road. They were telling us half of our stuff is going to stay back. At least they told us before loading so we didn’t have our stuff sitting on the side of the road in the rain.

We ended up finding another company that had no problem moving our stuff for half what these scammers demanded.

We are now filing a dispute with our bank for the deposit, and are considering legal action, since it cost us money and stress to find another company and to discourage the deceptive business practices of these companies. We also want to warn other people trying to use this company so that they can avoid significant stress and delay (we had to be out of our apartment by a certain date, and experienced significant delays in travel).

If you want a horror story use Empire Moving Group

Do not use this company for any reason! I had my wife initially call them to get a quote on moving us from Rochester NY to Florida. “Billy” talked her through the estimate by using our real estate listing and looking at the pictures and estimated that we would need 905 cubit feet of space for an estimate of $5,100 dollars of which we had to give them a non-refundable deposit of $1,800. He pressured my wife to sign the estimate, which she did and forwarded me the document for my review. I reviewed it and immediately called “Billy” and he assured me he had gone over everything with my wife and the “Binding Estimate” would be very close to what we would be actually charged. He said the rate per cubit foot would not change nor would the bulky item charges because he included everything in the estimate. He assured me another person would call me 3 days prior to shipping to go over everything and make sure what we were shipping matched his estimate. Well prior to the 3 day window, I measured and took pictures of everything we were shipping because his estimate was nowhere near what we were actually shipping. When “Suzy” called to go over everything I sent her a detailed spreadsheet listing every box with dimensions along with photos of everything else along with dimensions. She then recalculated our new estimate to be $8,200 and would need an additional non-refundable deposit of $1,449. Now keep in mind this is 3 days before my closing on my house. Because they really screwed up the original estimate she waived additional bulky item fees and also raised our “discount” from $500 to $750. Now we wait for the movers. The movers were supposed to be there at 9:00 AM and showed up at 2:30 PM. They called several times to tell me they were 1 hour away but could never tell me where they were. When they finally arrived, they determined that we weren’t charged enough for the bulky items and they contacted their boss because they are subcontractors to Empire Moving Group. Empire Moving Group finally calls me and says they need to get $900 more for bulky items and when I tell them that Suzy already waived those fees they say sorry but you have to pay more. I ask to talk to Suzy and they say no. I ask to talk to a supervisor and they say “I am the supervisor”. I tell them I’m not willing to pay it and they say “you will forfeit your deposit and send the movers away and they hung up the phone on me” They know they got you and you have no choice. The mover proceed to load their truck and now they claim they cannot load everything in 1400 cubit feet. It’s going to take the whole truck and they cannot not ship my 2 motorcycles nor can they take a lot of the furniture we sent photos of. They recalculate my new price to be based on 2100 cubit feet of space totaling over $12,000. They also will not unload your stuff until you pay them cash in full. The movers (subcontractors) finally leave at 8:30 PM and head back to Philadelphia where they unload my stuff into their warehouse. They loaded our house on October 26th and we finally received it on November 14th. The driver told me if you do not call them you will not get your stuff delivered. In addition to us on his truck he had 2 deliveries that were picked up from May. As we were the last load on the truck we were the first to come off. The top of the trailer has marking for the total cubit feet used to any point on the truck. Our load consumed 1500 cubit feet and we were charge for 2100. In addition we were charged for “bulky items” that they didn’t even ship. This company and all the associated subcontractors are screwing everyone. Empire Moving Group is so crooked you could screw them into the ground! Buyer Beware! I could go on forever but suffice it to say, DO NOT CONSIDER THESE GUYS! I would love for them to call me to review my review!

Long-distance move from North Hollywood, CA to Sanford, FL

Sent Scammers to Move me and issued no refund

DO NOT USE EMPIRE MOVING GROUP! I hired Empire Moving group to move my son's belongs from California to Florida. The Sales representative, Kyle Clark, gave me a very low quote of $1670.72. He claimed the reason for this low rate was because it would be a shared truck with other people's items also moving from California to Florida. I agreed to the contract and gave them an initial deposit of $680.00 paid by a bank wire transfer. Kyle claimed he would help me personally through every stage of the move and made me feel like I could trust him. I found out soon after that, the number he gave me, which he claimed was his personal cell phone was fake. And I never reached or spoke to him personally again after that. About a week before the move, a representative from Empire called me and asked if I had any items I needed to add prior to the move. I added a few more items and also requested a second stop in Florida. The estimate was adjusted and I was charged an extra $200 up front. I was told that a company called Map Express logistics would be the trucking company providing the actual move and I would need to have a cashiers check made out to them in the amount of $695 when they came to pick up the items to be moved. When the movers arrived at my son's apartment in California, the movers showed up in a Budget Rental truck. No company logo was seen on anything they came with. I did not get the names of anyone that I dealt with in California. The man came into the apartment and looked around then stated that I had 3x the amount of items and cubic feet listed on my binding agreement. This statement was absolutely false. He claimed that the truck was not big enough to take all my items and then put it with other people's items also going on the same truck. He said he would need to call his company and see what he could do. He made a call and then came back and told me I would need to pay an extra $4200 on the spot in addition to the $695, and in addition to any amount I owed Empire. I told the man that he was incorrect and that I counted all the items, bought the exact box size that I was told to get and that I would not be paying more than what I was quoted. We went back and forth and he went outside a few more times to make phone calls. The next thing I knew, a woman with a thick accent called me claiming to represent Empire, told me that I better pay the difference or they wouldn't move me. The woman was actually yelling at me, telling me that it was my fault, and the Empire agreement was just an "estimate" not a binding agreement. Finally, the men left without moving me. It was November 27,2020, the lease was up December 1, 2020. All services to the apartment were being shut off in the apartment on December 30,2020 and we had nowhere to go and had no back up plan. No to mention, Los Angeles had just ordered a stay at home mandate that was starting on November 30, 2020. I contacted Empire to tell them what happened. They showed zero sympathy, and told me they would find me another mover, but it would take a few days. They did not care that the lease was up, and that were forced to stay at a hotel. I called Empire the next day, which was a Saturday and could not get through to anyone. They do not have an answering service working, the message just kept circling. I called several times that day and finally ended up having to hire U Haul to move my son's belongings. On Monday, December 30, 2020, I contacted Empire though email requesting a refund for services not rendered, they refused, saying that the deposit was non-refundable, even though they did not complete the move. They also stated that I refused their services when they offered to find another mover for me. This was a lie. Bottom line. This is not a moving company. They are a broker. They do not care about their customers, they take your money and then don't do the job.

Long-distance move from Lexington Park, MD to Athens, TN

Unethical practices just shy of illegal

My background: 12 years military, 6 prior cross country moves, second move involving non-government contracted movers.

I chose to hire movers myself vice using those provided by the military in hopes of preserving several nice pieces of furniture/antiques. I received quotes from several other carriers, none of which asked me more than the number/types of rooms I had. Then I spoke with Daniel at Empire. He spent an hour with me on the phone detailing every large item I needed moved and talking through smaller things (books, china, etc) that would need to be packed. He was very nice, professional, and helpful. The quote from Empire came back at $12000, $1500 more than the other quotes I'd received. But given how thorough Daniel had been, I chose to move forward with Empire assuming the others would cost that much when all was said and done anyway. Daniel also told me that the owners were Marines and offered me a large discount for my service. I paid a large down-payment and all went well until the move itself. My house was under contract with a quickly approaching closing date.

*Note: All quotes from Empire were sent via a link that was not able to be downloaded and was not accessible afterward.

I was provided a window of a few days that the move would take place in and the day prior to that window opening, I received a call from Brittany at Empire. She stated that, after reviewing my estimate from Daniel, the price would need to increase by $2000. I questioned this since I had just informed them they would not be moving a full size couch which was already included in the estimate. She insisted that the price needed to go up to ensure space on the truck. She also told me that they had their best crew lined up for me, but they wouldn't arrive until a day after my initial move window. I was not pleased so she offered "financial compensation" for the trouble (which I never received).

Brittany then informed me that if I didn't pay the $2000 cash immediately (while she waited on the phone), I would lose my scheduled move entirely. Given the deposit and impending closing date, my only option was to pay the amount and hope movers actually arrived.

The movers arrived as promised and walked through the house (during this time, one of them named Tibor who had never served in the military claimed to have given me the discount that Daniel said was from the Marine owners - I don't know exactly what lie was told but it was clear there were too many for even them to keep track of). They started moving/disassembling furniture and then Tibor informed me that the price was going to increase again. To $18000.

I objected, but he warned me that they could leave without moving me and take the money I already paid ($4500 deposit + $2000 increase) or I could accept the $18000 total and let them move me. If I didn't accept $18000, he was very cautionary that I could end up paying $25K+ for the move. What they did was not illegal because nothing was placed on the truck when this transpired. But I was in a corner (with the money I'd already paid them and the sale of my house) and they new it.

The movers that unloaded my goods in TN were excellent and were shocked at how poorly everything was packed by the "best crew" in MD. Multiple antiques were damaged, books were literally thrown into boxes, and a hole was punched through the top of my china cabinet. All other factors aside, it was the worst move damage-wise I experienced even with all of my military moves included.

This is the first time in my life I've ever been fooled like this or "taken" for money. It's embarrassing and sickening and I tried to forget it. But I hope this will serve as a cautionary tale for anyone looking to move. You cannot trust Empire Moving Group. They are not incompetent, they are aggressively manipulative and strive to take as much money as possible. Please do not use this company.

Long-distance move from Tampa, FL to Brentwood, TN

Lost my stuff; no response; no claim process

Nicholas Hall contracted services for my Dec 2020 move from FL to TN for a pre-Christmas move. The move was subbed to Hallmark Movers, who started to deliver the wrong furniture on Dec. 23. Nicholas from Empire has not answered one call or email since original contract. On Dec. 23, Chad from Hallmark verbally assured me that my items would be delivered the next day. He assured me that my stuff was in FL warehouse. (Drivers cannot drive more than 350 miles/day so IMPOSSIBLE to have my stuff move the 710 miles in less than 1 day). On Jan. 3, most of my stuff was delivered, except for my Casper mattress, bed frame, and ladder. The men who picked and delivered my goods were awesome.

I have called Nicholas and Chad and emailed at least 15 times in the past month asking about my stuff. Nicholas has not answered one email or call. Chad emailed me that “my items were found and looking into delivery.” He has refused my requests for photos, and location of the items. He suggested a claim process and, despite my emailed requests, has not provide a claim process. What else can I do to get my furniture delivered and submit a claim process????

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Orlando, FL

Would not recimmend

Empire Moving Group is not a moving company, but just a booking agent. Though you will sign a contract with them, they hire moving companies for you, and deny any responsibility for the quality of the move. The phone agents are ok, most of them polite and trying to work with you. The main problem is Empire Moving Group is using sometimes very bad movers like, from my experience, Triple Crown Moving LLC, and you will not know which company will actually move your stuff to decide if it’s a reliable company. So, if my car was moved quickly with a car moving company, without any hitch, the experience of moving my household stuff with Triple Crown was just horrible. In the day of the move, the guy pressured you for much more money, moving from Houston to Orlando took in one month, and half of the stuff were scratched or broken.

Long-distance move from Saint Marys, PA to Lenoir City, TN

Moved from PA to TN

These people are a ripe off. I move every 2 years for my job and never had a move like this one. They are very nice on the phone but when they get to your house (not them personally but the movers they hire) they add all kinds of charges. Like how far it is to your house from where they park. They count steps on your stairs and they make you empty out all your dressers (this was a first for me but it adds boxes to your move). I ended out paying an extra 400 and some dollars (which when he did a walk through which took him about 10 minutes, if that, he told me with the things I had it was going to cost me an extra $1,800.00) and let a lot of my things there for me to move. Good thing I have a truck. I did not tip the movers because of this extra charge. Meanwhile they get to my house in TN which my husband was already there. It’s a one floor house and they could park right out front and the movers actually counted the steps it took to get to the door and wanted to charge him more. My husband told him he wasn’t going to pay them anything extra, they moved everything in and was very nice guys. They didn’t charge us any extra so my husband tipped them 400 bucks. The movers are great but I’m sure they’re trained how to add charges from Empire Moving Group. Read your contract and please if you know what’s good for you, you won’t hire them. Please read these reviews, I wish I would have but like I said I’ve never had a bad move before. This is my 6th move. And this is the first bad review I ever left anyone....EVER.

SCAM SCAM DO NOT HIRE!!!

It all starts with a low low low quote that is to good to be true. Kyle calls and explains everything and lies to you about what’s going to happen. He then makes you do a direct deposit that you will never see again. They will not take credit card payments so you can’t even fight to get your money back. After your done being lied to and throw away a ton of money someone else calls you to tell you that you have to pay more money or nobody will show up. So now they have even more of my money and they didn’t do anything. I’m promised a call on the Friday before the pickup and nobody reached out. So I called and I’m told the system is down but someone will be there Sunday between 3-5. I was promised early on Saturday or Sunday since I booked this a month early. I then talk to the actually moving company who will be picking up my stuff and he just tries to sweet talk me and feed me more lies about the move. He had no idea how much stuff I was moving or the price I had to pay. There is no communication with empire moving and the trucking companies they use. They only reach out to the customer to steal their money. So I’m told that they would try and be there earlier and would call 30 mins before they come. At 435 no call. So I call and I’m told they will be there at 5pm. At 505pm nobody shows up and I call back. I’m told they are en route and will be there shortly. So I ask for an eta and then the girl comes back on the line screaming at me saying they aren’t coming and they will be there tomorrow morning between 6am-8am. I thought she was joking with me. She said that a worker broke his ankle and “it happens, it’s in the contract.” I had to be out of my house that day and now all my stuff is still sitting there. I get the number for the Forman who was supposed to show up and he said they had a big job at 8am and they were never on their way. He promised he would be there at 6am on the dot to pick up. 6 am comes around and nobody shows up again. I call and he shuts his phone off and nobody answers. I send emails and at 840am I’m told they will be there between 6-8am. I finally get a call around 930am telling me the company called out sick and they were not coming. They now have my money and will not refund me. Stay away unless you like throwing money away. The original quote was $3800. Then somehow went to $5600 because I had more boxes. And an actual quote is over $12000.

Long-distance move from Redondo Beach, CA to Florissant, CO

Lost my business for good

I learned my lesson never to use a mover again. Empire ruined this experience for me and no other mover will ever get my business due to their poor performance and EXTREME lack of responsiveness. They brokered a deal with a different moving company who had their own contract and stipulations that were NOT PRESENTED TO ME UNTIL THE DAY OF THE MOVE. What was I supposed to do? Cancel the move on the last day available at my old location? Not possible. Their estimate was incredibly low even though I gave very specific details on my items including dimensions. I was quoted 800 cubic feet but it ended up being 1300. Again, what was I to do? Cancel the move on last day before my ease was up? Not possible. This company deserves nothing but horrible reviews.

Need to file a claim for missing AND damaged goods? Good luck, do not expect any help from these people. Multiple emails, and multiple calls only to be put off longer and longer until I gave up. I HATE THESE PEOPLE!

ALSO! They disassembled my furniture but REFUSED to put things back together! PISS POOR! HATE!!!

Long-distance move from Encinitas, CA to Tampa, FL

Helped me through the whole moving process

Andy was extremely helpful. I left things off my original quote and was so scared they would charge astronomically more. That was not the case. They only charged me $400 for adding over 100cf three days before my scheduled move. I was promised a 1 day pick up window and they even delivered with that. I was nervous to use a broker but Empire completely smashed any fear I had. My estimated time of delivery was between 3-7 days and they got here in 5. I really lucked out with this company and would recommend them to any one moving.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Boynton Beach, FL

Move

I am happy that I chose Empire to help me with my move from New York to Florida. My move coordinator; Eric went above and beyond to make me feel at ease. He took time to go through a full detailed inventory of my belongings as well as called me evenings and over the weekend to answer any questions that I may have had. Customer Service was excellent as well as the move itself was done professionally! I would definitely use Empire in the near future.

Long Distance Move

The entire Empire team was helpful, knowledgeable and courteous throughout the entire process. This was my very first long distance move, I was not looking forward to doing it, however Empire took the stress and worry away and I was able to confidently look forward to my new job opportunity in Florida. I will always recommend Empire to any family or loved ones who are needing a long distance move.

The WORST DO NOT USE

I should’ve listened. beware

Cody quoted me a price to move from SF to Raleigh. I was very specific with dimensions and quantities as I’ve read the horrible reviews if not being clear from the gate.

I gave them my storage unit web login to see the amount of stuff i have for themselves. I put deposit down had movers come on day of pick up and tell me that it will cost me thousands more dollars to complete move. Surprised with the extra charges right from the gate. I was transferred to Customer Service Manager Ryan Curry who seemed totally dismissive and unconcerned with trying to rectify the situation as customer service is supposed to do. Feel totally scammed, lied to and taken advantage of. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. THESE PPL DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. THEY WILL HOOK YOU ThEn BOUNCE YOU AROUND ON TRANSFER CALLS.

Long-distance move from Weymouth, MA to Bethlehem, PA

Horrible experience, not BBC accredited

Do not use Empire because they set you up with terrible, unprofessional movers. My move with hometown movers from Boston to Maryland went well despite being up-charged for packing equipment. The other half of my house went from Boston to Bethlehem Pennsylvania through a horrific company named flatprice Movers… I was terribly up charged for bulky items, stairs… You name it they charged me for it and already had my stuff on the truck so I could not argue. They also lost several of my items, found my snowblower and leather sofa somewhere in New Jersey but I out of luck with the beveled edge lead glass top for an antique coffee table, I lost two shelves to a TV unit and an entire banquet table. I was told I can file a claim however this too is a sham because I never got any paperwork when they delivered my items in Pennsylvania. I have contacted empire and the movers multiple times requesting the paperwork with no luck and without this paperwork I cannot file a claim. The claim company also wants the original receipts of purchase for items that I’ve owned and taken very good care of for several years. Consumer beware because empire and flat price movers are not better business certified! Pay more out of the starting gate and get somebody reliable! Do not go near either of these companies!
