The WORST DO NOT USE

I should’ve listened. beware

Cody quoted me a price to move from SF to Raleigh. I was very specific with dimensions and quantities as I’ve read the horrible reviews if not being clear from the gate.

I gave them my storage unit web login to see the amount of stuff i have for themselves. I put deposit down had movers come on day of pick up and tell me that it will cost me thousands more dollars to complete move. Surprised with the extra charges right from the gate. I was transferred to Customer Service Manager Ryan Curry who seemed totally dismissive and unconcerned with trying to rectify the situation as customer service is supposed to do. Feel totally scammed, lied to and taken advantage of. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. THESE PPL DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. THEY WILL HOOK YOU ThEn BOUNCE YOU AROUND ON TRANSFER CALLS.

Poor service after the initial deposit and an attempt at upcharging!

Today was an absolute failure with Empire Moving.

More than a month in advance, I was contacted by Empire to provide a quote and we decided to accept the quote (amongst a group of 5).

They were very misleading with the quote (it would seem) and after just 5 minutes in our apartment, the mover announced that I would have to pay an additional $1500 TODAY (that's in addition to the $1633 already paid, $2000 due today and the $2000 due upon final delivery).

As a Service Disabled Veteran, I have completed a number of moves in my day, but nothing as poorly handled as this! I did of course cancel the order. But I needed to warn others off of this company.

Poor Service and Empty Promises from FL to DC

The cost estimate went from $3600 to a bill of $7400 with no option but to pay. They even lost most of the high end items they packaged separately. I then had to deal with two other companies to settle the claim with Empire moving no where to assist or locate my missing items. The movers even took the fully packed truck and transferred my stuff to another truck. No big surprise why my stuff is still missing.

Move yourself or go with big moving company.

Horrible experience, not BBC accredited

Do not use Empire because they set you up with terrible, unprofessional movers. My move with hometown movers from Boston to Maryland went well despite being up-charged for packing equipment. The other half of my house went from Boston to Bethlehem Pennsylvania through a horrific company named flatprice Movers… I was terribly up charged for bulky items, stairs… You name it they charged me for it and already had my stuff on the truck so I could not argue. They also lost several of my items, found my snowblower and leather sofa somewhere in New Jersey but I out of luck with the beveled edge lead glass top for an antique coffee table, I lost two shelves to a TV unit and an entire banquet table. I was told I can file a claim however this too is a sham because I never got any paperwork when they delivered my items in Pennsylvania. I have contacted empire and the movers multiple times requesting the paperwork with no luck and without this paperwork I cannot file a claim. The claim company also wants the original receipts of purchase for items that I’ve owned and taken very good care of for several years. Consumer beware because empire and flat price movers are not better business certified! Pay more out of the starting gate and get somebody reliable! Do not go near either of these companies!

Out of State Move

I went in knowing that this was a broker company. They were expensive but since is was a last minute move I expected that. Movers at pickup location were 4 hours late and charged me an extra $350. I had a total of 21 items (boxes, bins and a guitar). Movers at destination couldn't get their semi into the storage complex even though semis go in and out of there daily so that was an extra $160 for carting the items across the road. I will never use a broker company again because you more than likely will get incompetent people and you're stuck with what they send you.

Worst Moving Experience.. EVER!!

We saw all the review sites on the first page of google all lies about how professional Empire Moving Group was amazing. Empire moving must have paid to be on that list or something!

Mr. Alex (the sales guy) sure had our number as he gave us a low ball number that my partner now calls "a line of SH$%$T" then kept ringing us until we confirmed and paid. That was the good part of this experience.

How would you like to be quoted 1 price only to have to pay more than double that price for the move! That's right, they screwed us over.

Come to find out that this is a moving broker that has so many negative reviews on the internet, most hidden do to I am thinking fancy internet tactics.

I am surprised that someone's cousin Joey has not paid them a "special" visit!

Seriously reconsider before signing up with them!!

Beware! Empire Moving Group are brokers only!

They under estimate your load (cu sq ft) then you pay the broker fee ($2000 for me) then movers show up and they tell you they were wrong and actual cu sq ft was triple!!!! So if your total from Empire was $4000 now you have to pay double!

My advice to you…get a local mover to come and give you an estimate and use them. Had O had done that … I would have saved myself a few thousand dollars!

Fraud Ring

Empire moving group should be investigated immediately by law enforcement for widespread, fraud, theft, and racketeering. Empire is not a moving company. It is a fraud ring that collects multi thousand dollar non refundable deposits. Once they have your deposit, they have no financial incentive to ensure your move is conducted on time, is conducted to any type of professional standard, or that if your household goods are even moved at all.

I signed a contract with Empire on 13 April 2021 to have my household goods packed and shipped on 25 to 27 June 2021.

1st Failure...The movers were a no show on 25 June. The driver told me that they could not get on the military post because he was the only person with identification. I called Empire, they tried to say it was my fault which is total B.S. I told Eric at Empire that I live on a military installation.

2nd Failure...I asked repeatedly for my deposit to be refunded. They refused. They asked when I had to move by. I told them 28 June. I received a email stating movers would arrive on 29 June.

3rd Failure....On 29 June 2 out of 3 movers arrived late. Again, one of the movers had no identification. The first thing the mover said was I would have to pay more money if I wanted to move that day. He also said his truck was to small so he wanted to load what he could and then leave. At that point I realized they did not bring enough manpower to pack and load my household goods. They had knowingly brought a truck that was to small for the job and that they were trying to extort me for an additional $3,000. I had to tell them to leave. I called Empire, they refused repeatedly to refund my deposit.

I filed a complaint against Empire Moving Group at the Better Business Bureau. Empire Moving Group is a fraud ring and the worst organization that I have dealt with in 25 years. There are dozens of similar reviews similar to mine. Stay away from Empire Moving Group.

Worst company we've ever dealt with.

NEVER USE A MOVING BROKER!

Our experience with Empire Moving Group was terrible. They never acted as our advocate with the actual moving company who was a complete disaster. They simply took our deposit and we were then on our own. They say they work only with the best movers. That is a lie. They clearly will work with anyone with a truck and vertical breathing bodies. We could not have had a worse experience at both ends of the move and it cost an additional $2K to boot!!!

Worst transport

I had my sons car transported to him so he would have a car while in college. Little did I know after spending 1200 to get it shipped I would now have to get it towed and repaired . The car drove when it left but 4 days after my son got it he went to go to the store but the car would not move then he noticed a large spill in the front end of the car which is transmission fluid. Now there is a crack that was not there prior but the driver said he does this every day and it’s not his fault. So not only did I pay to get it to him but now I need to get it towed and repaired. If you need a car transported with this company make sure to have a mechanic there before signing that you got your car cause that is what my son thought he was signing for. At this point I could have got him a used car and spent lease money.

The worst moving company

Empire Moving Group is a group of liars who work together!! Never trust them. Several weeks ago a person from this company called me and start saying nice things about their company and promised me a certain delivery day. Now, after a week of living in an empty apartment, I am still waiting for a phone call from the company with an update about a delivery date. If they had been honest with me in the beginning, saying that there is no guarantee that we will be able to deliver your items on that date (or one, two, three, four, .... days later), I wouldn't be this upset now. Why don't I ask the person who called you the first time? Surprisingly, after signing the contract, his direct phone line is answered by someone else. Believe me, they have a plan!!

Find another company

My experience with Empire moving Group from start to finish. Me and my fiancé are planning on moving from VA to TX in the next month. I had looked at some different moving companies and Empire reached out to me. The representative that I spoke to was named Chris and I had told him I had some lower offers to move my belongings and he said that if I went with a company that charge so little that what they would do is not show up and keep my deposit. So I decided to go with them. Now for anyone who is reading this review understand that Empire is not a moving company they are a third party go between. This will be an important detail in this story.

So a couple days ago we got window of days that we had blocked off for pick up. I had stressed to the customer service agents that I spoke with that I could not have a pick up past the 16th of August due to my lease being up. The first moving company that was suppose to pick up my stuff called me on the 14th and stated that they could not pick up my stuff until the 17th. I called empire and let them now, and the customer service agent Brittney was very pleasant and promptly got me squared away for pick up on the 16th.

The 16th rolled around and I called at 10AM to check on the movers, all this was through Empire. Brittney reached out and said they were running behind but promised that they would be there and that they would call me. I reached out two more times throughout the day during business hours which are 9AM-5PM. Each time I called I was told the same thing they are coming and will call you soon. I called customer service around 6 after not hearing anything and since it was past 5PM it goes straight to voicemail and tells you to send an email to get service after hours, which I did and got no response. I contacted Chris who had given me his personal number because he wanted me to know that they were always available responded after an hour told me he would check with his team and heard nothing back. So on the day I was suppose to move out no call no show.

On the 17th I called in around 1000AM to inform Empire Moving what had happened and that I have lost faith in their ability to move my stuff and deliver it in a timeframe that we agreed on and I would like to have my 750$ deposit back and to not bother trying to schedule movers for me. Brittney the customer service rep informed me that they will not refund my deposit and pretty much skirted the blame that empire had in this whole ordeal and as far as customer service goes was super unprofessional. She did offer to get me a new mover today and said they would remedy it but I declined because I did not trust them to provide the service they said they would. Mind you I had nothing but positive things to say about this company until it got to the time where the actual (move/what I paid for) had to happen. This company especially from the customer service side seems more concerned about avoiding the blame and making sure that your deposit regardless if receive a service or not will be kept by them. So please look to another moving company so this doesn’t happen to you.

Cross Country Move was the Worst

Empire MovingGroup is a broker-only and subscribes with its associates to low-ball the bid to win the business, then the subs show up to pack you, immediately dispute the cubic feet and price without even looking inside the house. They demand more money or they walk, leaving you stranded on packing day. The Empire broker also promised us delivery on a certain day, around which we planned everything else. It did not happen. After many, many phone calls we discovered the truck had not even left CA on the day it was supposed to arrive in MA. Use another company, a reputable mover/packer who takes responsibility for it all.

Empire does not play fair or honest IMO.

They lied to me and changed dates on my contract and then would not respond to my customer service calls. I lost my deposit. But after researching them more and reading other customers horror stories, I feel like I got off easy.

Horrible business ethics

I cancelled my contract within the acceptable timeframe without response or confirmation from Empire Moving Group for more than a week and a half (I made 8 attempts to directly contact them, phone and email). They blatantly lied to my credit card company and stated that written cancellation was not received. Since I disputed the charge they refuse to provide a refund, per policy. At first the company seems legit and good. Chris is definitely a smooth talker. Once they get your deposit Goodluck getting your furniture picked up. Horrible Customer Service

BEWARE - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are not accredited with the BBB, contract out your move then claim no responsibility for anything the “carrier” does. Their customer service is extremely condescending and rude. Their sales guy pulled a bait and switch on me - his name was Chris - he fast talked me with a low price, saying I could change things if needed and that ended up being completely false. There are so many hidden things in these contracts and they company does not care if you are treated badly. I truly cannot believe they are even in business. I am truly terrified to find out what my delivery will even be like in the coming weeks. They should be ashamed of themselves. If I could give them zero stars I would.

LIES TOLD AT EVERY POINT/ DO NOT BOOK

*******BEWARE - this company acts as the middlemen or BROKERS for another moving company–All Points Moving in NJ.*******

This was my first time hiring a moving company for such a long-distance move; however, I was told lies to make a sale while dealing with a “middleman” company.

I worked with Chris beginning early December 2021 for a long-distance move from NY to TX. Chris advised Empire Moving Group/his company were the “direct movers” and to not “communicate with another other moving company”; however, the two days before my pickup date, I was contacted by a representative with All Points Moving regarding when the truck would arrive to my home. All Points Moving had all my information and the exact contract I discussed with Empire Moving Group. After getting off the phone, I attempted several times to contact Chris to gather further understanding of the situation; he never returned my calls nor has even called to check on the status of my move in any capacity.

I would never recommend this company as they only tell lies to their prospective and current clients. They absolutely ruined my moving experience.

Long-distance move from Rochester, MN to Charlotte, NC

Not even a moving company

We will start with the fact that they aren’t a moving company, they subcontract. Please feel free to contact me before hiring these clowns. 702-888-4705. They subcontract every step of the way too (more on that later). [NAME EDIT] quoted me at $2800 for my move of the furniture I told him we would put on the truck and 20 boxes. I asked him about the some fine print in the contract about the moving company being able to change the price and he promised me that the price would not change unless we added items to the move, also told me the price would come down if we removed things. Moving Day and we ended up removing 4 items because we decided we didn’t want them. The movers show up and tell us we have more stuff than they thought and that they knew nothing about the 20 boxes. We have to pay an additional $1370 for the additional space. They actually did a good job wrapping up and protecting our valuable furniture. We get moved to our new location and call Empire to give them the exact address and inform them we are ready for delivery. Couple days later I get a call from the movers informing me they’re going to load the truck but need my address, so I give it to them. Couple more days go by and I get a call that the truck is loaded but they need an address, agin I give it to them and they tell me my delivery will be in 3-4 days. Fourth day I get a call and they tell me 2-3 days. Second day they call and say they’ll be here the next day between 8 and 10. 10:30 the next day I call them to make sure they meant AM, driver tells me she’s in town just waiting for her helpers to meet her so she can come to my house (this is a “professional” moving company, why is her team not with her?). Then calls me again saying she needs my address (4th time!). Finally an overweight woman in her 40s shows up with one guy and the first thing she tells me is she can’t park right in front of my place so they’ll have to charge me for a “long haul” of my furniture. I told her no, you’ll park right in front, after watching this woman struggle to park the truck in a very large space, she also almost hit my neighbors car, I realized she had no clue what she was doing. Finally she gets out and tells me she can’t open the truck if I don’t pay her the remaining balance in cash, money order, or Venmo. Can’t even make sure she has all of my stuff on the truck. So I did it, recorded it as well so I had some sort of evidence. Then she looks at my house and says “oh, you have stairs, that’s going to cost $150 extra.” I told her the contract says one flight of stairs are free, also that [NAME EDIT] from Empire promised me, and emailed me the promise, that if there was a charge for stairs he would waive it. She said that didn’t matter, they don’t work for Empire. Then I told her the contract not only said one flight was free but that additional flights are $75. She said because I have so much stuff the price is doubled. I should point out that I moved from a one bedroom. I had one bedroom and living room furniture plus 19 boxes. I paid the $150 just to get this nightmare to end. Her and this other guy took my mattress into the house and asked where it went, my wife told them the master bedroom, the woman sighed (she was exhausted already) and carried it there. Then she sat in the truck and got on her phone. For the next 30 minutes only the guy was carrying small things into the house. Finally another guy shows up and starts helping. I asked the guy if he works for them and he said no, they contacted his boss and hired him for the day. I asked him about who he normally works for and was unable to verify any of the information he gave me. Pretty sure they found this guy on Craigslist or a temp agency. Really professional company here. After they unloaded and started to leave I asked if they were going to reassemble the furniture that was disassembled by their “company” in the first place and she said no, they didn’t disassemble so they can’t reassemble. I informed her it was in the contract so if they’re not going to do it then they need to give me some money back. She decided to reassemble. Half way through reassembling one item she told us she was late for her next delivery, we wouldn’t get money back for them not finishing the job and she left. We started reassembling our stuff, found that our desk was missing pieces, the screws for the legs on one of our TVs were missing and our bar stools looked like they were used in a WWE cage match. These things weren’t noticed earlier because they were wrapped and taped. That’s my fault for not checking everything thoroughly while they were still here. We called Empire to tell them about the issues and problems along the way, we were told they will look into it and get back to us but considering they screwed us from the start and every step of the way I’m sure they have loopholes buried in their contract to protect them from everything because this an awful company and should all be in jail.

For 2 1/2 months I have waited for my missing items, and for someone to pick up the numerous items belonging so some other family. Outsourced twice so everyone is passing the blame. I cant even get a claim filed with them, no return calls. No updates. Just transferred to someone else everytime I call. From the beginning nothing was as they said it would be. Dishonest Company

KEEP READING: WARNING!!

Consider this your lucky day. By checking the reviews you are saving yourself a mistake that many before you made, including myself. Do not move forward with Empire Moving Company. They are liars. First off it is important to know that Empire is a broker company, so they don’t actually move anything. They go and find you a moving company (no matter the reputation or ratings) and then charge you a fee to do nothing. They promised me delivery dates and made it seem like they could actually control these factors, when they, in fact, cannot. They might give you a spiel about how other moving companies will hit you with a bunch of hidden fees at pick up and delivery, when in reality this is exactly what Empire does. The salesman [NAME EDIT[ told me this and I was dumb enough to eat it right up. After paying the deposit and seeing all the hidden fees, I called [NAME EDIT] to complain and call him out on his lie and then he said that he would waive any of these fees for me. Well after getting my delivery date pushed back and calling customer service to confirm I will not have to pay stair fees or long distance carrying fees, I spoke with [NAME EDIT] who said that they talked to Eric and they will take care of those fees. Come delivery day, customer service said they “pulled the calls” and have no record of this and they will not cover any fees. After laughing out of disbelief, I asked for the calls and they said they will not release them without an attorney subpoena. So I ended up moving everything off the truck into my place myself. I did get everything delivered, but it was one of the worst and most stressful processes of my life. Empire is a dishonest company. Save yourself the grief and just move on.

Dishonest, Unethical, Illegal Practices

Do NOT listen to the salesperson you first talk to. They (in my case, Erik Kramer) are SALES PEOPLE and will lie to you and pressure you to sign up for the move. Then, they will contract the move out to companies, who lie about how many belongings you have, price gouge without providing evidence, and not take everything from your apartment (luckily I was driving so I had to get rid of some plants to make room for the boxes and mirror). The customer service team is so aloof, rude, abrasive, and unhelpful in resolving an issue when the moving company ILLEGALLY showed up to my new place at 9 PM at night, and threatened to leave to California if I couldn't take my things. It was against apartment regulations to have any deliveries. The movers had never moved anything prior to this (literal first day) and did not speak any english. Because it was their first day, and because it took over 5 hours (they were still unloading at 3 AM), they gave up on moving the couch into my apartment and left it downstairs. I was told by my apartment building I could not put it there, and was required to put it outside on the streets of New York and hope for the best. They abandoned me and did not finish the job, and Empire continually takes zero blame and offers no helpful information because they are "not the moving company just the broker". DO NOT USE EMPIRE.
