DMV Moving and Storage Inc.

My husband and I experience with DMV Moving & Storage Inc. on March 26, 2012 was a nightmare due to several reasons. First being the dishonesty by the workers. The workers broke the leaf to my dining room table and then hid the broken piece in our lawn mower bag which was discovered by my husband two days later. For the damage leaf we were only offered $75.00 or $0.60 per pd. which was printed on their contract whereas we weren’t totally aware of before hiring the moving company. We weren’t happy with the offered amount because of the blatant dishonesty by the workers in discovering the damage and then trying to cover it up. We felt like the moving company should have fixed or replace the leaf to my table. So we decided to take it took BBB to file a claim and a complaint against DMV Moving & Storage Inc. After several attempts to settle we just finally settle with the moving company because we were just too busy to take legal actions against the company. Second, the awful customer service and the fact that out of four guys that came to my home only one spoke English. Third, the workers took two hours and five minutes on a Monday morning at 11:55am to 2:00pm to travel from Woodbridge, VA to Alexandria, VA which only should take 15 to 20 minutes. We were later told the workers stop for lunch without notifying my husband or me as we waited at the new location for the workers. HOW RUDE!! Then as they were unloading the truck they took a couple of breaks to speak on the phone whereas one guy walked away for about 20 to 25 minutes to speak on the phone with total regard for the fact they were working by the hour. Forth, being that the quoted priced ended up almost doubling at the end of the job. SO WE SUGGEST NO ONE USE DMV MOVING & STORAGE INC. IN ROCKVILLE, MD. AND TO ALWAYS READ ALL CONTRACTS THOROUGHLY.          .

I am extremely satisfied with the professional moving and customer service I recieved.  The movers arrived slighly early, confirmed the task with completing signature documents and got right to work without delay.  They seemed to be conscience of the time and worked diligently to complete everything within the estimated timeframe.  The furniture and small items were treated carefully and not a single item was damaged in any way.  The conduct of the movers was very respectful and helpful as they responded favorably and immediately to any special requests.  I highly recommend DMV Moving and Storage, Inc. and will call them again myself if I need to move in the future.

I needed to move from DC area to Dallas, TX and researched for days for a moving company that would not give me a headache. I was unable to use a national brand because they were all booked during the month of June, so I went with DMV Moving and Storage Inc. That was a BIG Mistake!



Oscar, the owner, came out to look at my furniture for my small move to Dallas. He was courteous and responsive while trying to get my business. I had called 3 of his references before he came to give me an estimate. The 3 references advised that I obtain a flat rate contract because the company will insist on piling on additional charges during the move. His references informed me that they often forced to pay extra packing fees even though were told that those expenses would be included. So, I entered into a flat rate contract with Oscar and included, in writing, all my packing expenses (for my mattress and TV). Oscar also guaranteed pick up on June 16 and a delivery date between June 27 to July 1st. The movers picked up my furniture on time, so I was confident that I would have no worries. I WAS WRONG!



Even though Oscar knew that I was not in Dallas, TX prior to June 27 he insisted that he have the driver deliver the furniture in advance. I told him countless times that we had agreed on a time frame for delivery and that I was not in town to have the delivery made any sooner. He and his driver demanded that I make myself available for the delivery even though I was out of the state! They informed me that it was my fault that they would be late for their other deliveries even though our contract explicitly stated a delivery time frame. In order to accommodate the movers, I had a friend TAKE OFF OF WORK so that the delivery could be made to my apartment. Because I had not scheduled the loading dock (because the delivery was not made according to the contract), I was told by my apartment buidling that the delivery would have to be made through the front door.



Even when I accommodated Oscar and his crew so that they could make a delivery to other customers, Oscar insisted that I pay him an extra $75 on a delivery that was already $1140 because the crew would have to walk around the block because the loading dock was not available. I informed him that I would not pay that amount because that was not my fault. Oscar yelled at me and cut me off when I explained that the terms of our contract and the flat rate fee had been set. He insisted that I pay his drivers or I would not get my stuff during a twenty minute conversation where he berated me! I was not even in the same town and was doing him a favor!



Just to get Oscar out of my hair I agreed to pay more money over the agreed rate in order to get my stuff. But, I agreed only to pay after my friend confirmed that all my boxes and furniture had been delivered. When I refused to pay before they completed, Oscar then yelled at me again on the phone! When I told his assistant that I would authorize payment only after the delivery was complete, she said ok. But, Oscar then called my 7 times from 2 different phone numbers, and left me 3 text messages. He then told the movers to STOP working because I was not going to pay them, which was not true. It was ironic because he was hiking the price up on me and accusing me of being a crook! The movers then argued with my friend, who had absolutely nothing to do with the contract. Then Oscar got on the phone with my friend and yelled at him!



When my friend assured the drivers that I would pay once the job was complete, they finished working. But they were concerned about getting paid because, as they told my friend, Oscar might not pay them! So, Oscar was not only being a crook to a customer but also to his own workers!



When I finally arrived to my apartment a day later, I found all my boxes and furniture. There were some scratches on my dresser. But I also discovered that I had obtained a box filled with kitchen goods that weren't mine! So, some customer is missing their kitchen stuff and I have no idea who it is!



In short, DO NOT USE DMV Moving and Storage Inc. If you do use the company, please know that you will end up paying MORE than you bargained for. MUCH MORE if you want to get your stuff!

Dishonest about price - Inflated time and meterials to almost double quote. Damaged items - did not place and reassemble as promised. Destroyed the stair bannister and did not report it which nearly resulted in serious injury Unprofessional - asked about my personal items, if I didn't want them. Felt like they were checking everything out for their own use. Thieves - Stole specific items that I reported to Oscar/Andrew. They peretnded to care but in the end just sropped taking my calls. Lots of negative reviews about this company. There are plenty of options. Do not use DMV Moving and Storage.

DO NOT..I repeat..DO NOT use DMV Movers. Worst company I ever had.
First of all they were 2 hours late..when, they arrived, only one spoke English, you ask the others a questions they just look at you. They told me all the extras, blankets to wrap my TV's (I had five, which I had to move myself) glass tables ..(I had three..which I had to move myself) glass dinning table (which I had to move myself) my grandson had broken the beds down, while waiting for them..(they wouldn't put they back up at new location (said they didn't take them down. They gave me wardrobe boxes to put together (and pack all my clothes). They left over haft of my belonging, which I had to make over thirty trips in my car. They charged me in advance for five hours they did the job in TWO HOURS..AND WANTED A TIP..NEVER AGAIN..
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

If I could give this company a zero, I would.  I put in for a general move quote on Friday the 28th of September, and of course, was getting many calls.  Monday the 1st I got confirmation of a move happening on the 12th of October.  I had decided to work with one company but had yet to make a deposit.  On the 2nd I was getting calls and e-mails from Andrew at DMV with a quote and he was desperatley trying to get my business. As of 2:30 on the 3rd, I called wanting to secure things and make my deposit when he basically told me, sorry, I undershot this, oh well.  I called back to speak to the manager Oscar who said the same thing and said he will deal with Andrew.  How does a company NOT honor a quote given? Or try to keep/maintain my business? Thank GOD May at Mashav relocation was so helpful and got me booked, I should have stayed with them from the beginning.  See the quote below! Used a mover for the first time ever this past Friday, and would use DMV Movers again in the future especially if I can request the same crew.  From beginning to end the estimate was far and put in writing.  When the guys showed up they worked without complaint even though its was late in the evening, and they didn't stall to make my time go up.  When all was said and done they completed my move within 3 hours and reduced my estimated price.
When scheduling a mover, you need to be flexible with the schedule if you are not the first stop of the day.  As with any repair or service based business, they cannot see into the future.  So even though the guys were running late, they kept open communication at all times and reassured me regularly that my move would take place no matter what time it was.  They held to that promise with complete care for my possessions. DMV Movers Rock from the Office to the field guys, you cannot go wrong for customer service.

DMV Moving Company had their four guys work very quickly and efficiently - great customer service attitude.  I even had a baby grand piano that they wrapped, delivered and installed with the rest of the furniture.  We had agreed upon a number of hours for the move and they kept to that which allowed me to stay within my budget.  They even dropped off extra boxes, packing paper and tape a few days before the move - all free of charge.  I would choose DMV again in a heartbeat!

DMV is, to be sure, the best mover I've ever used.  A small move of my daughter's one-bedroom apartment in Fairfax/Vienna to her new place in Baltimore, Md was done extremely efficiently and quickly and very reasonably priced.  From Andrew and Benjamin on the hq phone to the actual movers themselves, everyone was - to a person - polite and respectful that someone's entire home would be in a truck under their care.  I told the guys in Rockville that if all went well on my daughter's move, they could have my move to the beach next year and, they sure did earn it.  I will recommend DMV for the moves of all my "baby boomer" friends and suggest anyone reading this in need of a mover, turn to DMV as well!".

Our movers showed up on time. However, that's about the only thing that went right. We were quoted that our move would take 3 hours from start to finish. It took them 3 hours just to load the truck. They were very chatty with each other and were taking their time loading up instead of getting to work and getting finished. 
When we booked the movers we asked if they would have pads for our furniture, tape, etc. While they did show up with these items, we weren't told until they arrived that all of that would be extra. We agreed to pay the extra and our furniture was still damaged! A desk that's been in our family for generations and has been moved countless times was damaged by our movers. This is also the first time that we've had movers break items -- and we've moved 4 times in the last 3 years!
We reached out to the company to speak to a manager or owner about our experience and have yet to hear back after 5 phone calls and two emails.
Don't hire them!

I called "DMV Moving and Storage" for moving.  they give me price Quote to camper with other moving companies price. They gave me $350 for 1 Bed room. but when they come (one day late they should come on Saturday, they appeared on Sunday!) they told me I have to pay $150 more for roping up and one hour more! it is $500. So if you want to have safe moving and not to face over charge. Find some moving companies price, and be sure about final price. Funny part is when I refused and cancelled because of new charges, they took my deposit. They are fraud and I am not giving up on this frauds. .

I'm extremely pleased with this company.  The guys arrived on time at the house.  They wrapped up pieces that needed special care (at no extra charge).   They worked really hard all day (12 hours straight).  The price was great, and they were all very respectful and careful.  They charged me the exact price they quoted me. They moved all my furniture and heavy items with ease.  These people are real professionals.  They know what they are doing.   I highly recommend.

Movers were amazingly professional with an excellent work ethic..pricing was just as quoted even after multiple changed dates due to closing issues.  The gentlemen were diligent in keeping on task to ensure timing guidelines wer maintained while paying great care for all my valuables.  They took (1) small break after asking if I didn't mind.  They quickly ate and was back to work within 15 minutes.  I was so impressed with their work, I called upon them again (2) weeks later when we discovered we needed additional moving assistance. .

This move was excellent. The team of 3 were polite, professional, and knew how to pack a truck, move awkward pieces of furniture safely, and efficiently. They worked hard and I would use this company again. It was an excellent move and absolutely no problems at all. They walked the rooms with me discussing which furniture pieces and boxes were to be moved. They assisted me by providing a wardrobe which I decided upon at the last minute. They also had a china box for the items I had not packed that were on the kitchen counter. They dismantled the leaves and legs from a large dining table and reattached the legs at the delivery site.  Thanks DMV for an outstanding experience.

DMV moving service offered me the best move ever! I was personally dreading this moving experience and the pros at DMV made it painless. The move was efficient, they arrived on time, they gave an accurate estimate in advance with no extra hidden fees, and excellent care was taken with all items. The hard working three-man team worked together and got the job done in under the estimated time. What a positive moving experience! This is especially appreciated during an exceptionally stressful move! I would highly recommend them and will consider using them again in the future should the need arise!

My experience with DMV Moving and Storage was not excellent but, it was still very good. They gave me an ETA of between 1pm-3pm; they didn't arrive until 4pm. The thing I didn't like is that they don't call to say they will b late so we were just sitting around waiting. On the awesome side, when they got to the pick up location Manuel and his 3 guys came in and kicked butt. I originally agreed to 3men and 2hrs labor time; 1hr for loading and 1hr for unloading. We had everything packed and pushed to the front door ready to go. The guys loaded the truck in 50min and unloaded in the same amount of time (50min). I paid an extra $15/hr for the 4th guy. This was my very 1st time using a moving company and the good outweighed the time issue and the price was well within budget. They have no hidden fees or taxes; my original quote was $299.25, my final rate was $319.25 (includes $45 for the 4th man and a $25 off coupon). I would definitely use DMV Moving and Storage again and I would recommend them to my friends and family.

The 3 man team of movers for my one bedroom apartment were efficient getting things loaded on the truck. I got a good price on having part of my belongings delivered to my new place and the other to a friend's.

Now here's the problem:

For the second stop, which was living room furniture, the movers left my couch in the hallway since they couldn't bother removing the legs and getting it in the living room of my friend's apartment. I called the office and the driver didn't bother letting the office know. Also, there was no rate reduction or incentive for me to now have to figure out how to get a sleeper sofa in. I'm 5'5 135lbs..

Service cost: $361

Excellent work by movers and foreman. Very courteous and professional. Well done DMV Moving and Storage. I am certainly recommending you to anyone who needs your type of quality service due to several factors, including, the timeliness of your work, the courtesy of your staffs, the professionalism and most importantly, the care the you took when it comes to the move of our things. I will surely treasure this experience and if there’s a need for such service in the future, no doubt that I will use you again!

The forman Juan Carlos had a nasty attitude, didn't follow the contract, had us doing work that specifically stated that they would do pertaining to breakdown and set up of furniture. When we called the owner Oscar about our concerns he was condensing and accused us of not wanting to pay. Not once did we say anything about not paying or getting a discount or refund. We just wanted the service stated on the contract honored. He threaten to pull his crew when we addressed him with our concerns and pointed out what they said on the contract dealing with services.

The crew the company had under Juan were great! Very pleasant young men and respectful.

Also with this company watch out for hidden fees. To put a piece of cardboard and a blanket on fragile items, they charge 10.00 per item although it stated in the contract that blankets and supplies were included in the quote.

Also they have you sign a waiver that they are not responsible for any damages or breakage of electronic items or glass items.

They brought an extra person not included in the contract and charged an additional 25.00 per hr. and stated that they needed this extra person to get things done in a timely manner. 3 people were already allotted in the quote and they brought a forth for a two bdrm condo.

I feel this company takes advantage of you especially since they know you need your things moved. This situation added to the stress I was already feeling just pertaining to moving. With just having major brain surgery less than 7 months ago, it made me feel sick to the stomach and gave me a migrane headache.
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! The only reason they recieved a fair rating is because of the young men working for them.

This was my first time I have used a moving company. There is a rich pool of moving companies around DMV area but I am really glad that I chose DMV Moving and Storage. The moving estimate was pretty close to the original one and affordable. The guys were very efficient and finished the job accurately and in timely manner; they didn't waist any time. I had a few single items I didn't have time to pack and worried how I will transport them. It was not a problem for them to make another box and safely delivered to my new home. They were careful and respectful to all fragile boxes and electronics. I strongly recommend this company and these guys to move you if you want a positive experience in the midst of moving stress. They are pretty awesome!
