I contracted Charter back in March for a move Aug 20 from Virginia to NYS. They quoted me a binding quote and said they were piggybacking me with another going same way. The consultant, Shawn told me to expect 2-5days and never gave me any indication that my move was 'sold' nor that it would sit in a warehouse at the Moving company in Maryland. I would not have used them had I known all this. The drivers from One Way were 3 hours later than the time making it after 11pm before truck was loaded and then I find out they are only taking to their dispatch in Maryland. It's now been 8 days, still don't have my things, incurred an unnecessary hotel charge which no one seems to care about plus the final total was way over the original quote. Extremely displeased with this service. I would have made other moving arrangements had I known about this inconvenience and more money.

My family and I recently moved from the area to Jackson, MS. A family friend recommended Charter Van Lines, as they had used them in the past. First off, the movers were very generous and could hold a good conversation. If they had any questions regarding the items that they were moving they would ask in a kind manner.

They were very efficient with their time as it only took a couple hours to get everything packed (we pre-packed smaller items). They packed all items with care, wrapped fragile items and covered furniture.

When we arrived at our new home, they gently unloaded all the items for us and provided a check sheet for us so they could ensure all our items had arrived and were undamaged. One of the workers even suggested where we should put certain items of furniture to get the most space out of our rooms. Overall great decision to choose Charter Van Lines.

I would definitely give you a 5 star rating for a great service which you have done on moving my home equipment and Appliances from Milpitas to Las Vegas. This is the first time I am using this company and I must say I am very impressed with their services. I really appreciate you for the excellent timing and schedule. The quality of service was awesome. The vehicle used was perfect and in good shape. I say well done to you. I really loved the handling, timing and schedule. It really worth my cash. These guys are unbelievable! We couldn't have done this without them, no question. My family and I were moving from Orlando,FL to Philadelphia,PA and we were researching for a good moving company that can get the job done! And Charter Van Lines were the answer to our prayers!

The movers helping us were so nice , could actually hold a good conversation and extremely helpful and extra careful with our belongings. Usually I'm nervous when moving a large amount of stuff from state to state and yet everything arrived in perfect condition!They were FAST and efficient and I felt at ease with them handling our furniture, and were able to rearrange our furniture in the new house based on our preferences.

The rate they charged us was beyond fair. Much cheaper than other estimates we had.

This is one of the best decisions we have ever made. I highly highly recommend them to anyone!

Charter Van Lines ruined my moving experience, estimated 2600 for the move and when the movers showed up (charter is a broker not a mover) I was charged 4600 for overages even though my inventory matched. Of the 4600, I had over 2k in ruined property. I filed claims and called every day and nobody returned my calls. I continued to call daily and they told me they’d look into it which they clearly never did. I called again today and was told the overages look normal. I was then hung up on by customer service.


NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!

Today is day 13 that we are waiting for our furniture to come.. our estimate given was $2600 deposit required $525 on day of reservation.. we had to call twice to get a pick up confirmation, I spoke to Mark R..our end total was $4600.. I have called every day for the past 4 days and no body can tell me when they will be delivering our furniture.. however I did see on the contract it says 501 - 1500 miles 0-10 days after that $ 50 days can be claimed ?? I wonder if this is going to happen.. people in short PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.. PLEASE GET ANOTHER COMPANY TO MOVE YOU.. THIS IS PATHETIC.

Charter, posing as a moving company gave me the best estimate I could find for my move. They required a 500 dollar deposit which I later found out was illegal since movers can not take a deposit. I was informed by another company that Charter is a broker. So there my story begins. That 500 bucks could have gone to a legitimate mover. Well they sold my job to something called One Way Movers out of Baltimore which I can not find on the internet. One guy showed up to load my things. He worked from 4 30 to 12 30 am. I called One Way the next morning and asked when my things would be delivered. I was told 1-6 days with Saturday being day 1. By the way they picked up my things on Wednesday. OK then, I get a call on Saturday saying I need another 1800.00 dollars with 900 right away before they could even deliver it. Seems Charter, crooks that they are, gave me a low estimate so they could get that 500 bucks and my possessions were almost double what they quoted me. I told them exactly what I had. I did not have the money and had to borrow it to get my things delivered almost two weeks after pick up. I had many things broken and also have not found some of my things. I sent an email to One Way and got no response. Seems this practice is quite common. You have to pay a ransom for your own possessions. I called Charter Van Lines to complain and they hung up on me. Not good business. Better Business Bureau and any other group will hear from me about this.

This company was great to work with! They were very professional and through throughout the entire moving process. I was quite nervous about moving since this was a longer trip then what I’m used to but they helped me through the whole process and the experience turned out to be quite fun. They made themselves available anytime I needed help or if I felt something was wrong, but nothing was ever wrong. When they were actually packing my things they were very delicate and gentle to make sure that nothing would be broken on the trip. If anyone is planning a move anytime soon in the future I recommend you use this company for the move, they are prompt, professional and available anytime you need them.

UPDATE..8/15/18 and still my belongings have not been received and still can't give me any updates. Arrow is trying to say they want to put my stuff on freight train and Charter says that is incorrect but neither will respond to my request for the location of my belongings. I plan on hiring another moving company to get my stuff away from Arrow and Charter. This is one of more horrible experiences of my life. These people have no regard for my stuff, they shouldn't be allowed to do business. I will be filing a lawsuit after. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!



WARNING!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR LONG DISTANCE MOVES!! During the several phone calls to set up the move, never once was it mentioned that the 4-14 days they quoted me was BUSINESS DAYS. Fast forward to moving day 6/30/18 and after hours of packing all my stuff in their truck, the cost is double what they quoted me, they hand me the paperwork to sign and now I'm forced to agreeing to 30 BUSINESS DAYS FOR MY STUFF TO GET HERE since it's already on the truck and I have to be out of my rental that day!! How can you give me an estimate of 4-14 days (that's why I chose this company) and then forget to mention it's more like business days and closer to 30?? The company Charter Van Lines sent was Arrow Moving and Storage from Vegas and they are terrible, go read their reviews. I agree 1000% with every 1 star review on their page and 1 star reviews are all they have! I didn't pick Arrow, Charter sent them, this is the type of moving companies Charter will contract your move out to. It's common practice it seems to double the cost of the move upon arrival. I've moved from CA to PA seven times now and previously I've used Northwestern and never had this issue; they have an estimate when my stuff would get here and like magic, it got there. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TOO! Every time I call the person on other end of the phone is completely obvious they don't care and plan on making no effort to find out where my stuff is. As of today 8/9/18, all my stuff that was picked up 6/30/18 is still not here. I've never received a single phone call to update me about when my stuff will get here or what is going on. This company absolutely does not care about its clients once they have your belongings. They contract your move out with local moving companies and then wash their hands of it. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!

If you have had silimar experiences with Charter or Arrow I encourage you to do what I am doing and file a complaint with the FTC. I feel so swindled and taken advantage of by both these companies.

This company saved me time and money with their quality services. I have moved around my entire childhood and was over moving another thing on my own. I didn't know anything about moving services or which one to pick. I called one service before this one but the employee seemed to busy to talk about my move. I called this company next, thankfully. The company gave me all the info I was looking for and asked if I had any questions. They seemed eager for me to choose their service. The prices I found were very reasonable as I didn't want to pay too much for the move, or have to wind up doing it on my own. The day of the move the employees were patient and careful with my belongings. They made the move quick and overwith before I had time to have any concerns. I was very satisfied with the company service and rates. The employees came to do their job and make the move as comfortable for me as they could. I knew they could tell I was nervous, but their patience settled my nervousness and then it was over! I highly recommend this company and now know who I'm using from now on! Thanks guys.
