Horrible scammers. Wife got on the phone to get a refund (in the time allotted) because we decided to go a completely different route in our moving strategy. The “manager” threw a hissy fit, called me a liar (for what, I don’t know) and called my wife and I idiots. They are brokers who don’t move your belongings themselves and will deny any liability. Read the bad reviews for this company- they all say the same story and paint the same picture. They refused to refund me and will not pick up my calls. You’re dealing with children here, not professionals. Reported them to the BBB.

We all know how painful moving can be -- usually exacerbated by exorbitant service costs and the long delivery wait time -- but the exceptional and courteous staff at Charter made the overall experience as stress free as possible from initial contact to delivery.

The company was not only prompt with responses pre-contract BUT the movers it seemed were invested with my move: treating my prized possessions with extreme care. A satisfied customer here who will definitely make use of Charter Van Lines again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I used Charter Van Lines to help figure out our move from Southern California to Oregon. It was already high-stress, as packing was a bit of a nightmare -- finding all the supplies and boxes while trying to keep our boxes and furniture to a minimum, I just hoped moving would go better and the process would get easier.
We were on a strict budget for moving and needed an affordable moving service for the distance we were travelling.
Once I contacted Charter Van Lines, they were reassuring about the quote estimate, and they found us the best quality movers within our budget. We were quoted a price during our initial inquiry, and the quote was honored after the move was complete.
From beginning to end every employee we encountered were very professional and helpful. As daunting as the movie process started out, our moving day couldn't have been more seamless. Thank you to the employees of Charter Van Lines!

After my sister found out that she had to move across country in a week, we decided we needed to call the experts. Charter Van Lines were there to help us along the way. They helped her move in a very short amount of time. We called on Monday at lunch, and Wednesday they were at her house packing. She was C4454416. We made it to her new place Friday as scheduled, and she was able to get everything set before the weekend was out. There is no way we could have done it without them!

When it comes to moving a whole person's life, Charter Van Lines knows exactly what they're doing. Not only are they professional and careful with every single item, they're also compassionate! They were extremely kind and understood that a long distance move wasn't just about the logistics, it meant leaving a home and life behind. You can't pick just anyone to handle your move, you have to choose a company you can trust. Charter Van Lines is exactly that and more!

My first conversation was with Joseph Samuels who assured me of lowest price, prompt pick-up and delivery from Raleigh, NC to Huntsville, AL. My contract was with Charter Van Lines but the movers was One Way Van Lines who was a day late, charged me $1,000 more and stored my belongings in Maryland before delivering 2 weeks later. The movers who picked up my belongings were Hispanic and did not understand English and the movers delivering my belongings were Russian, who also barely understood English. This entire experience was a nightmare. This is a sincere warning to not trust this outfit. They are unprofessional, uncaring and deceitful.

My wife and I had been planning this move for a little over 2 years, as we wanted to be closer to family. Generally we were more apprehensive than anything because we needed a solution to move all our belongings. We don't have a whole lot, but they did it with ease regardless, including my wife's car. Charter Van Lines had acceded our expectations on customer service, especially as a moving company. I am extremely grateful for the professionalism that was displayed by Charter Van Lines. I was expecting this move to be a headache, as most moves typically are, but the crew at Charter were the professionals I needed. They were on time, considerate with all my belongings, and very polite. I was given the upmost peace of mind and I couldn't be happier. I can't believe how simple this process was, and our move has been completed!

If I ever move again, I'm going with these guys. When I initially decided to move, it seemed like such an impossible task to try and load up my house and drive it across multiple states. I almost started to wonder if that's what I really wanted, because it seemed so much easier to just stay local. I looked into renting and doing it myself, but then I found out about this plave and I'm so glad I did. They made the whole experience easy and hassle free. They saved me so much time and energy. Just not having to worry about doing it all myself made it that much easier. I couldn't be more happy! Thank you!

I am still speechless by how flawlessly everything went. I moved a lot growing up, but this was the first time that I was moving to a different state by myself and I didn't know what to do. I stressed about it for weeks before my aunt recommended Charter Van Lines to me (she moved to a different state a few months prior). Charter Van Lines made everything so much easier. From start to finish, everything went smoothly and all the workers were very professional. Without a doubt, I would definitely hire them again and anyone who is hesitant about CVL, contact their customer service. They were more than helpful and they should be what other businesses should strive for when it comes to customer service!

I absolutely hate moving, but Charter Van Lines really took the weight off of our most recent jump from FL to GA. Cost was a tremendous factor in determining who we went with, as I’m sure it is for most families, and Charter’s rates are exceptional for everything they offer. On top of that, they’re very transparent about fees you might incur with the services you’re interested in. That's a huge deal for me as someone who has had trouble with hidden fees and surprise charges in the past.

The move itself was the most stress-free experience I’ve had thus far. Their men were outstanding with handling, wrapping, and loading all of our belongings. For once, I didn’t have to hover and keep watch. I stayed busy while they took care of the heavy lifting.

Unloading was more of the same responsible care. They even put furniture and boxes in their respective rooms, which was going to make my life even easier after everything was said and done.

The personal, friendly experience and the cost effective layout makes Charter my only choice in the future. Period. If I could give more than 5 stars for taking some of the pain out of moving out-of-state, I would!

I have moved many times over the years, but this was the first time that I decided to treat myself to hiring a moving company. This definitely proved to be the right decision, and I couldn't imagine moving again without hiring movers.

Charter Van Lines was so easy to work with, from the booking process to storing our items in between places. I was very grateful that they offered the storage service, especially since we had a bit of a gap between leaving our old apartment and moving into our new place.

Every agent and mover that we interacted with was friendly, professional, and very careful with our belongings. I really appreciated the detailed inventory check list that they provided so that we could be sure nothing was misplaced or lost in the move. Everything was set up perfectly in our new apartment, which made the transition very smooth. I highly recommend Charter Van Lines - we would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends and family for their future moves.

First let me start by saying .. when you call charter van lines to set up your move Brian was very friendly and Basically told me everything I wanted to hear.. as far as pricing and getting our stuff to NH .. once our stuff was picked up in Florida Brian was out of the picture..He sold our Job to a Company Called One Way Van Lines.. We arrived in NH on June 13th we did not get our Items until July 26th.. It was awful.. We had nothing .. They did not care.. DO NOT USE CHARTER VAN LINES.

It's not often you deal with an organization that tells you upfront what they will do and then simply goes out and do just that. I never write reviews because, simply put, I'm too busy running my business. But because my experience was better than expected I'm taking the time to give Charter Van Lines a shout out. From the moment I spoke with they're customer personnel I knew I was in good hands. The pricing was reasonable, their movers courteous and hard working. Let me tell you this is not the norm with some outfits. But Charter Van Lines is a cut above what's often been an overwhelming experience. Cheers for one of the good guys!

Charter Van Lines was very helpful in my move from New York to California. I was very stressed out trying to figure out where to start, as I had never used a moving company before. I contacted a couple of other moving companies but none were as professional or friendly on the phone as Charter.

Charter was so helpful and nice from the beginning. They were very clear on pricing and timelines and how everything would be handled, what they could take care of and what they could not, which was not much. Their ability to be clear and concise with their communication went above and beyond my expectations. And they actually did what they said they would. They are tremendous!

Their level of professionalism was so reassuring and helpful with easing my mind. I am so thankful for Charter Van Lines. I would definitely recommend them and use them again!

I have moved a countless number of times over the years and it has always brought me a lot of stress, whether packing everything up and moving myself, or when hiring movers. But using Charter Van Lines couldn’t have been easier or more hassle-free.

I’ve always been pretty wary of using moving companies simply because of how often I have had my furniture damaged or even lost. However, I decided I’d try one more time with Charter Van Lines and it more than paid off. Everything arrived on time and in the same condition as when it left. There wasn’t a single bit of damage to be seen!

From contacting them, all the way to moving day, it was a simple and easy experience. Their customer service went above and beyond what I ever would have expected. They answered all my questions and gave me a quote that was far cheaper than I was expecting when I first started looking at moving companies

Charter Van Lines in nothing more than a broker for One Way Movers, an incompetent company on our move. They never called to say which date they were coming, we had two, and between 9&5 became 8:30 arrival and 11:30 finish for loading of a bedroom and clothing. When they delivered our goods, after us Paying a $300 expediting fee they only had half of our things. The next day they came back with more, still missing boxes, chairs and tv stand. Of course you have to pay in full prior to them unloading a box. The topper was one of the movers left my daughter a note to call him! So unprofessional. Will never use again.

In case you haven’t read in other reviews, Charter Vanlines is a broker firm. They hire out your move to another company. In our case, they contracted our move to "Household Hauling, LLC".
When the movers arrived they immediately stated that cubic feet was going to be way over what Charter quoted and that it would increase the quoted cost as well as additional fuel charges. They started loading my belongings and then asked me to sign the new quote. In addition to the upcharge on the cubic feet, they also tried to charge $75 for the elevator, $75 for tape and $150 for a handling fee! At the end the additional fees were over $1,000! I refused to sign the new quote and explained we needed to call Charter to clarify the charges. I asked the driver to give us a few minutes to call the company, he became angry. We asked him to please leave our apartment and he became confrontational. At that time I told him to leave my house and when he didn’t (he kept talking over me) I told him to leave or I would call the police. I called Charter again and they said they talked to the movers and they said WE threatened him. Charter said that it was one word against the other and when I told them we had an audio tape of the entire confrontation they didn’t care.
Additionally, Charter told us that the drop off would be on Friday, however, what they don’t tell you, nor is it in the contract, is that Household Haulers take your furniture to a warehouse and then they have up to 21 days to deliver it!! We told the initial salesperson, Dan, that we needed the furniture to be delivered on Friday and it was never told to us that this was not going to be case. Household Haulers also first told me that the handling fee was for storage, even though you don’t want it AND that in the contract it says 30 days free storage! When the driver finally left my home, and I was talking to Charter, the driver called his company and told them they were going to unload the truck as they were refusing the delivery, which by this time I was just as glad! I called Charter again to dispute the down payment and all the supervisor would offer was to reschedule the delivery with another agency! Are you kidding me?? After being scammed, threatened and treated the way we were, they think I am going to let them take my belongings?
Household Haulers showed up in a rented Penske truck, they tried to add additional fees that were to be included and the drivers were verbally abusive! Charter Van Lines did absolutely nothing to help resolve this! Household Haulers did not move our belongings and I will NEVER recommend Charter Van Lines to anyone!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1600

They do NOT tell you they subcontract your move to some fly by night moving company.
They make you pay thousands upfront to them over the phone as a deposit.
The movers insist you pay cash up front before they will load or unload your belongings. The actual cost is much more than quoted.
They deliver your items weeks after you arrive at your new destination so make sure you bring at least a weeks worth of clothing and everything else you need to function in the meantime.
The moving truck was dirty and so were the blankets. The dirt got into everything. Items were broken and damaged but the amount they will pay is .60 cents on the pound.
The WORST moving experience ever.

I moved due to a change in jobs from NORRISTOWN, PA (Montgomery County) to Elizabethtown, PA Lancaster County). Packing everything up, starting a new job and moving to a new area was a huge deal. Charter Van Lines made the move a lot less stressful. Their customer service representative was pleasant and helpful. They answered all my questions, provided helpful information and and gave a reasonable quote. Once the date of the move arrived, the movers showed up on time and were extremely courteous and professional. They treated my items respectfully as they loaded the truck. Once everything was ready to go, they took the most direct route to my new address. They unloaded the van with the same degree of professionalism as loading it. They put everything where I wanted it in my new home. They made the move easy and a lot less stressful. Thank you so much! 5 stars.

These past six months have been fairly rough for me, after receiving news that my mother was not in great health, I needed to move from Tucson, Arizona to Fort Worth, Texas, my hometown, to help her out. Grabbing all of my things and moving back home meant a whole lot of stress on my back, which was lifted once I decided to go with Charter Van Lines to help move all my possessions from a few states over back to my mother. They made the process very easy, great employees who were friendly and very trustworthy, Charter Van Lines made sure that I, the customer, was very happy and pleased with their service. They did such a great job it lifted the worries of moving all of my possessions, and let me focus on what matters the most in life, family.

This is a broker firm. They hire out your move to another company. They hired my move out to "Household Hauling, LLC".
Charter assessed my move cost by weight which they calculated on the VERY high and heavy weight, then Household Hauling came in my house and said they charge bu cubic feet and that my $2,500 "white glove service" move did not accurately assess my "cubic feet" because my furniture is antique. The movers who showed up at my house scoffed out loud that I'd been told I paid for the "white glove packing service" as they explained to me that nothing I'd been quoted included any packing or materials that they would have to charge me for the packing and materials (that Charter allegedly already had charged in my "binding estimate" charges.
In addition, after telling me that I'd need to pay ONLY in cash or money order to the movers directly at pick up and again at delivery, I had two money orders ready in the exact amounts per my "binding estimate" quote. When I explained that to the movers who showed up at my house, they then said they would accept a personal check in addition to the money order for the extra costs, but that the extra costs they would need to charge me at drop off I'd "have time to get in cash".
Household Haulers take your things to a warehouse somewhere for your "free month of storage" whether you want them to or not unless you pay the added charge for direct delivery which they do not tell you you need to request.
I thought my things would be moved when I moved because paying for them to pick up my things and transporting them to a warehouse for storage doesn't allow me to have things in my new place, as I need them..which is why I'm moving them. I told the movers I couldn't afford to pay them for this move today just to pay to stay in a hotel and buy new clothes until they could "schedule my delivery time and additional costs". So,your "free month" of storage is obligated whether you want it or not unless you pay additional costs to have your things directly delivered to your new home.
The man from Household Haulers who showed up at my house told me that "all movers in America get 30 days to deliver your things to your new home unless you pay more for direct delivery".
So, Charter Van Lines will upcharge the move costs by the weight of your things, then Household Haulers will show up and tell you that you're going to pay more because the "cubic feet" costs were not assessed properly and the packing will be extra even though Charter already charged you for the "white glove" packing service.
Household Haulers also tell you they "own their own trucks" and these movers showed up in a rented Penske truck they'd told me they had just driven "7 hours to move me in".
As the Household Hauler mover was explaining that I'd need to pay more again everything I'd already agreed to pay for, I told him I was frustrated at the deceit from Charter Van Lines and he then got angry and told me " maybe we don't move you then" (his English was heavily accented Indian and VERY hard to understand) and I said, maybe you shouldn't move me, then.
And they walked out of my house.
I called a family member to talk about what had just happened and as I was on the phone, another man from the moving duo walked right back in my house uninvited and without knocking to snatch the packing costs price list they had handed me to show me all my additional packing costs (that Charter had allegedly already charged in my quote price).
The movers sat outside my house in their rented Penske Van for 20 minutes while their company "Household Haulers, LLC" called me 5 times. I was on the phone and didn't answer the company's calls. 5 calls in 5 minutes as the moving guys sat outside and the "company" calling me didn't leave a single message about this issue.
These people did not actually move me because they walked out when I told them paying more for what I was already paying was upsetting.

What a JOKE! I talked to Richard who told me how stress free this was going to be and let them handle everything, we had a Enterprise rental truck show up with a old and LAZY mover who did not want to move anything big or heavy, so rude and threatened to just leave because we had a weight bench that he did not want to move, so we could not take it and it stayed behind. They give you a quote that sounds so good when the movers get to the house it is a whole different story! DO NOT TRUST WHAT THEY TELL YOU!!
