I am a very experienced mover, I am a traveling nurse so I am well aware of all the speed bumps that occur when you move. I move probably every two months and need to always have a dependable mover on speed dial. Lately I have been going through movers like it was my job, literally. I am very happy and proud to say that I have found a mover that fits all of my moving needs for my moves in the northeast, that name would be century moving services.
 The three movers that showed up were good because they spoke English and then when I asked them to watch the walls they did not get snippy with me like the last movers that I used. That name I do not want to disclose because I'm not here to bash companies. Anyhow the century guys were very careful and ended up only scratching a couple of walls and I honestly do not blame them because of the fact that my furniture was super heavy and bulky it was pretty much impossible.
   From the point of pickup to delivery I was very pleased in saying that they only showed up late once, it was very late but I understand that these things happen. I am pleased with how the rest of the move went and would like to use them again when I will be moving in just another 9 weeks. You guys were awesome, Century Moving and I appreciate doing business with you all.

Service cost: $2100

My wife and I just sold our house in Sparta, NJ and we're moving closer to our children and grandchildren who reside in San Diego, CA. We had a few national van line companies come in to perform visual assessments of our household. Unfortunately, the price that they proposed were way outside of what we planned to budget for this trip. So I went online to look for local companies that were capable of performing this move for us.
We received calls from several companies that offered similar moving services, but when we spoke with Tim from Century Moving Services, we felt more at home with him. He offered us great quality and an affordable price to which we agreed to.
Although, the crew arrived late due to some traffic, they went to work immediately. The guys worked really quick and completed this move quicker than what we imagined. I will definitely recommend this firm to my colleagues, friends, and other family members if they need movers.

Service cost: $4200

I was very disappointed at the bait and switch routine that they did to me! I should have listened to the MANY reviews that had criticized the company. There are more negative reviews than positive. All had some sort of bait and switch on them as well. Even if it was on the contract, I had them "backtrack" and say "well..maybe we would get there on your move-in date" and then not even be able to tell me WHERE my belongings would be for 10 days! The reviews are even worse on "YELP" for this moving company.. STRONGLY suggest trying another company if you can!

Service cost: $1350

There were some sites that didn't have the best reviews for this company, so I was very hesitant on even receiving a quote from them again but Tim was the man. He explained to me that they were considering going through a class action lawsuit with over 200 other small businesses against Yelp. He showed me links and other documents that surprisingly proved their case that a lot of those reviews were fake and were not accredited. So I went with it.

I needed to move my entire 3 bedroom home from Edison,NJ to Plano, TX. Door to Door service was excellent. I'll definitely recommend them to my co-workers who are also being relocated.

We were contacted by Tim who was very friendly, professional, and great to deal with. I put a request in online and had a quote within a few hours. My emails and voice mails were promptly replied to.

The actual cost was right on with the estimate (and from what other reviewers say, far cheaper than competitors). This is the second time I have used Century Moving Services, the first was almost 6 years ago, but I had no doubt I would be using them for this move and didn't even bother with quotes from anyone else.

On moving day, the movers Paul, Miguel, and Salvador, came in and were efficient, clean and careful - not a single scratch or

nick on my walls or pristine and glimmering hardwood floors! They moved several large and bulky items, including a washer and dryer from the basement of my old place with ease and expertise as they navigated several challenging areas in my home. These guys are pros!

Without hesitation I would recommend this company to not only total strangers here, but my own family and friends to whom I would have to answer to by recommending them.

Service cost: $3500

Using this company was the biggest mistake ever - no, actually not reading the reviews on YELP first was our biggest mistake. Do not be fooled by any nice or professional sounding employees who might happen to answer the phone during your initial call. Just about everything they initially told me was a total lie, they hold your belongings hostage & do not give you an exact delivery date! I could go on & on, but to save myself & anyone who is even thinking about using this "company", please read the reviews & do NOT!!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $975

This company refused to offload my belongings from their truck until I paid an additional $350 above the quoted amount for the service "in case the offload time took longer than the original quote reflected".. of course I paid because what else could I do, and I paid in cash because there is a 6% credit card fee.. and then they left without refunding the money despite the service taking one hour less than the quoted time. They left without even speaking to me "we're just going to check the truck for any last boxes" and never came back. The whole experience was unbelievable, and despite multiple calls and emails they still have my money.. oh, except I was verbally abused by their customer service representative when I asked for the $350. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1200

First warning flag: they gave me a 3 day window but said (on the phone - we’ll come back to it) they’d honour specific dates if I had parking or building restrictions. I sent an email an hour later, having booked special parking but didn’t get a written response. Instead, my partner was assured (over the phone) repeatedly that my chosen date was fine. Morning of move date, at 9 a.m, I get a call starting with ‘looks like there’s been a misunderstanding and we can’t move you til tomorrow’. I’m furious, so I say ok and put the phone down to calm down. Call back and explain to them the whole process only to be told that in the written contract it always said 3-day window and it’s in the contract and it’s not their problem what someone may or may not have said.
Second warning flag: they offer to come next morning at 6 to avoid traffic, but don’t show up until 9. At this stage I just want to get it done so I’m like whatever. I watch as two of the guys carry things down and one basically sits in the truck. My boxes, even the ones marked FRAGILE are thrown in with zero care.
We get to the other side, and they spend 30 minutes saying they might get a ticket if they park where I want them to park and I’d have to pay for it. I say fine, but they decide that one guy will stay in the truck and the other 2 will unload. All my belongings are now sitting on an NYC Street, about 200yards from the entrance of the building, and no one to watch over them (I only find this out when I come back from buying them lunch and cold drinks as it’s a hot day. More fool me). Once everything is unloaded, one guy starts driving the truck around the block ‘to avoid a ticket’, which I would have been charged anyway, leaving two guys to do the work. Even though I’m paying for 3 men per hour, not 2.
They break the elevator. We spend an hour waiting for the repairman (again, I’m paying for the time, remember), who comes and says that their pushing on the door unhinged the wheel and he doesn’t have the part.
Now the head office says that if I want them to keep working I’ll hve to pay extra for the stairs and the extra time it will take. I point out it’s their fault for damaging the lift and I get told to pay $1,400 for ‘time already spent’ (even though a good 2hrs at this stage have been just not doing much and the guy in the truck has completely disappeared), threatening to leave my belongings on the street if I don’t pay up.
So I pay, using a credit card I keep for emergencies and which I haven’t used in a few months. One of the movers reads the card details over the phone, which no one questions even though it’s illegal as they shouldn’t accept it other than from the card holder.
Couple of hours later, head office calls again and says they’ll charge me another $400 upfront for the next few hours and if it takes less time then tough, but if it takes more time they’ll charge me again. Again they threaten to dump my things on the street if I don’t comply. Again my card details are given over the phone to someone I don’t know by one of the movers.
Meanwhile I’m carrying my stuff up the stairs to try and get things moving.
Two hours before they finish, the third guy shows up again, says hey should leave my stuff and they can come back tomorrow, but luckily the other two are nice kids and say no.
Finally, 10 hours after the first arrived that morning, they leave. No one walked through with me to make sure everything was accounted for and not broken (spoiler: things were broken, including a sofa), received no receipt for what I paid, nothing.
So I’m disputing the charges, but between the threats, outright racketeering, waste of 2 days’ work for me, an apartment in shambles (everything was just dumped in, furniture was left unwrapped and sitting upside down or on its side), oh and missing a close friend’s funeral thanks to their shenanigans, frankly even if I get some of the money they extorted from me back, I will still feel traumatised by the experience.

Oh and all this was for a move of less than 5 miles by the way. $1,700 and 10 hours. Let that sink in.

Coincidentally, a few days later, two fraudulent charges of over $500 are made on this credit card. The one I had used for the first time that year with them. The one whose details were read to persons unknown who also had my full name and address. I’m not accusing anyone, but make of that what you will.

Bottom line: these people are aggressive, unprofessional, will gouge you for money by threatening to withdraw their services once they know you have no other option, will threaten you, will overcharge, will charge for work not done (the third guy who I was paying apparently but who disappeared for hours, leaving me to do his work and thereby also extending the number of hours they charged me for), and break your stuff.
Do yourself a favour and hire someone else.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1700

My husband and I moved from Philadelphia to Lacombe, LA and we would never use this company again. Their customer service rep was rude when I called to pin down our delivery date, as they were late for our pick up. Boxes clearly marked as fragile were crushed under the weight of boxes on top of them. The glass on many of our pictures was broken despite being wrapped in bubble wrap. When they arrived at our street to unload, they discovered that their truck was too big to back from the street into the driveway. Any smart mover would think to look at Google Maps and see that the street was narrow. We booked this move through a third party and I will never use this company again.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5800

We recently hired this company to move us from Virginia to Iowa.
I think it would have been better if we had just rented a truck and moved ourselves.
First, they quoted us one price, then after they saw our stuff, quoted again. No big deal, that's normal. The drivers and movers get there. They say they don't have enough boxes and they will have to charge us more for more materials. Turns out the company misquoted THEM so they didn't have the right materials to move us and would have to charge us more. They quoted us nearly $2K lower than what we actually ended up paying total. We were told by the driver "no longer than two weeks" for our stuff to arrive at our new place. The two-week mark comes and still no calls at all from the company so we call them. The lady on the line is very friendly and says she will look into it and call us back after the weekend (we called on a Friday). Tuesday comes and no call so we call them again. What the driver was apparently supposed to tell us was "14 business days" which he most certainly did not. A week later, our stuff finally does arrive. Move-in goes well enough. Now we are unpacking our stuff and realizing just how much of our items were destroyed.
Signed posters, hand-built models, a bottle of bleach that they didn't secure bleached a hole into a bag, and that is just the surface.
I will say this now: if you collect pop figures, pack them yourself with extra protection. They will be smushed into boxes by the movers and subsequently dented. If you have irreplaceable posters or paintings, pack them yourself. A couple of my posters were from special events that were SIGNED by the artists performing that night. They had no care for it whatsoever. It looks like they rolled it up before shoving it into the box to have more things thrown onto it. Folding it would have provided less damage. They did not bother to wrap models that had hours of building time put into them.
Overall? If you have things that you value, find someone else or pack it up yourself first with extra protection. Make sure to get their quotes in writing or record all of your phone calls with them. They will bleed as much money out of you as they can by writing different numbers than discussed over the phone.
Also, note that YOU will be in charge of the tape and other packing materials at the end. Boxes, paper, tape, and anything else they use to move you will be your responsibility to throw out. They didn't tell us this until they were unloading our stuff, so be warned lest you get a lovely garbage ball surprise like we did.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4000

I hired Century to assist us with our office move to an new office in Midtown Manhattan.

The Century team project managed the planning and move tightly and well from the start. We had over 50 people to move which included their files and work stations.

There were no issues or delays.

My team told me how impressed they were with the move and I plan to recommend them to my colleagues in the industry for their upcoming office moves.

The cost was fair and there were no additional costs or fees.

Move size: Office Move Service cost: $26000

I have worked with this company many times and to say I am satisfied as an understatement. They have always help me with last-minute moves, including this time. I needed my bed and mattress to be taken out of my home and stored and Century Moving was prompt and efficient. I notified them only a few days before hand in hopes that they could do it and they did. The employees are always friendly and hard-working as well. Definitely will only use this company and recommend them to others.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $750

I can’t say enough good things about Century and how they handled my move. My employer had used their services last year when we moved offices to another Manhattan location. They did a great job then so I gave them a call and they called me right back. There were no delays and given how long-distance the move was that was very impressive to me. Also the fact that they were easy to reach and customer service got back to me right away with any questions I had during the process.

Century Moving Service did not tell us upon booking our move that there would be a 14 business day delivery window. The day before our move they informed us of this and when we complained they said that for an additional 25% they could give us a 4 day window. They also informed us the day before pick up that there was 6% charge to use a credit card. They prefer cash or cashiers check. When we complained about the miscommunication they told us that they were cancelling our move and laughed as they told us that they wished us luck with finding another company with such short notice. Make sure if you decide to go with Century Moving that you read ALL the fine print. They are a total scam.

We sold our apartment t in the city and hired Century to manage our move to our new home in SouthHampton. They got back to us quickly with all the details we needed and the initial estimate.

The original estimate was too low since we had a lot of things packed into our two bedroom apartment so they revised it.

Be easy to place and un-pack once we moved into the new place. We used their storage units in Long Island for a few weeks since our home wasn’t ready to move into right away. Everything went well.

This is by far my worst experience with any company. They quoted one price they demanded $1,000 more, despite each item was listed on my inventory quote. They parked illegally, then charged me for the $75 ticket. They delivered late, and then charged me an addition $350 carrying fee but refused to measure, and I was right next to the elevator. They refused to wear a mask, had no tools to build the furniture, broke my two best pieces, and lost 2 boxes. The driver broke the garage loading fence, but most importantly, they threatened my son if we complained. We have now been waiting over six months for the claim. Only to find out that the only want to pay me $67!

STAY AWAY for this moving company!!! They are immoral!
