Long-distance move from Missouri to Illinois

Do NOT use

Called the company a week prior to my move to confirm the amount due at the time of pickup. Only then did they inform me that there was a “50/50 chance that they pickup” on the weekend my contract is signed for. Cardinal Van Lines then tried to tell me that St. Louis to Chicago is an “unusual route” and they don’t have movers there.

Sales person lied and I am now desperately hoping to get my deposit back.

STAY AWAY

To anyone who is looking into this company DO NOT USE THEM. Cardinal Van Lines is broker not a moving company and will not tell you this up front. We were lied to, overcharged and without our things for a week and half.

My husband and I hired Cardinal Van Lines for our move from Michigan to Texas. We were on a budget but thought a moving company would help avoid some of the stress. We were quoted $5200 in the beginning of March based on a phone conversation with Nicolas. We called back multiple times to make sure the estimate was right based on the number of items we had. We were assured on the phone the estimate would cover it. Two days before our big move we were called and given another estimate of $7600 based on all our items. We were completely trapped because, of course, we didn't have time to find another moving company in two days. We were also told that the truck would be weighed once it got to Texas and we could potentially get reimbursed if our items were lighter than estimated. We signed the contract working under this assumption that we could potentially get reimbursed even though they added an extra $2,400 two days before our move.

The day the movers arrived (Way to Go, Inc.) the truck was loaded and we were charged MORE based on how much our things took up in the truck. So the price increased to $8010. What we were supposed to do? Tell them to unload the truck? No, again, we were trapped to pay more. Again, we were told the truck would be weighed in Texas and we could potentially get reimbursed if the items were lighter than estimated. The truck was NOT weighed in Texas and of course we did not get any money back. And if fact, we were charged MORE for a long distance carrying fee.

We were also mislead by Cardinal Van Lines when we initially hired them that our things would arrive Monday May 10th. Two days before the move we find out it may take up to 2 weeks for our things to arrive. We were never told this information until again it was too late and we were trapped. We did not have our things until Saturday May 15th and of course we had to pay for a hotel room during that time. If we were told upfront that we would be without our things during that time we could have planned better. But instead we had to live day to day not knowing when our things would arrive or how many more days we would have to live in the hotel. It was unnecessarily stressful.

When I would call customer service they wouldn't answer 95% of the time. When they do finally answer the phone they basically say "read the contract mam" and do not help you. Cardinal Van Lines will lie to get your money and trap you so that you don't have any other alternatives. STAY AWAY!!!

Long-distance move from Illinois to Kentucky

Good Work!

The movers were efficient, friendly, hard-working. And honestly, they found several hundred dollars which I had inadvertently left lying around in the furniture to be moved. They immediately returned it to me. The company made boxes and some packing material available to us at no cost. They showed a great amount of patience while setting up in our new home, making sure I was happy with where they put the furniture. It was a very easy moving experience. I will recommend them.

Long-distance move from Columbus, OH to New York, NY

Dissatisfied with Cardinal Van Lines

My moved was from Ohio to New York and Cardinal Van Lines lied to me from the start of the process. The original quote was for 710 cu. ft. at $5000 and the final move was 1156 cu. ft. at $7633. William (sales agent) told me the move would not be any higher then the original quote. This was a false and misleading statement. The scam is that he gave me a low quote knowing the subcontracted movers would raise the price.

CVL’s explanation regarding the price increase was my fault because I did not give them an accurate inventory. They claim they use a DOT cost sheet based on my inventory list but items can be larger and raise the price.

CVL will hire another moving company to conduct the move. The company CVL hired for my move was 11EVEN MOVERS & STORAGE. Never here this company they are unprofessional, unethical and will “up charge” you for the move. They raised my move final price from $5000 to $7633. There are many broken, damaged and lost items involved in the move.

Do not hire Cardinal VanLines.

I would say that I am very disappointed in the entire moving process (after I received my quote) conducted by Cardinal Van Lines. Moving is a very stressful situation and CVL is not the company you want to hire to minimize your stress.

I am sure there are other professional moving companies across the industry, if I had a chance to do this again, I

would hire another company and not Cardinal Van Lines.

Long-distance move from Durand, MI to Elizabethton, TN

Worst moving experience

I would not recommend this company. They are a broker so they send out their jobs to different moving companies. Not only did our price increase $2800 from what was told the company hired did not bring a big enough truck so we ended up having to rent a uhaul load it ourself and drive it down ourselves. The company cardinal hired was Map Moving so put ads out on Craigslist for movers to help them. I would run away from this company. They do not stand by their word.

Long-distance move from Arvada, CO to Ontario, CA

Thumbs Up!

They showed up about 5 minutes early, did a quick assessment of everything with the entire crew, and went to work. The delivery location was about 25 minutes away once everything was packed up. Even with that distance, they still came in UNDER their estimated time by about 3 hours with no damage to any furniture and nothing but positive attitudes. Recommended!

Texas to Arkansas move with up charges & extensive damages

Horrible company! Lied about everything, took a month to get our stuff delivered, broke every piece of furniture, boxes delivered upside down & massive broken China & other glass items. The final price was almost double the original quote. Rude & hateful customer service. DO NOT use this company!! They are only brokers, not actual movers.

Liars liars liars

We moved from Texas to New Jersey and had several quotes before making a decision. We went with Cardinal because they seemed honest when we talked to them on the phone. We were led to believe they would be moving us to New Jersey themselves. Not the case...they are a broker and charge thousands of dollars to simply make a few phone calls to the real carrier who will actually do the work. Nothing that was promised on the phone actually happened. Once they have your deposit which is actually a broker fee you are left on your own. Any agreement you sign and any cost proposed will be meaningless when the carry arrives to move your belongings. STAY CLEAR OF THESE LIARS...CALL A CARRIER YOURSELF. FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES WITH DECEPTIVE DEALING EMPLOYEES. Calling the lawyer Monday.

Long-distance move from Colorado Springs, CO to Lexington, KY

They seriously screwed me over

I scheduled a pickup date with Cardinal Van Lines about six weeks in advance, and was told they would call me about 48hrs ahead of time to confirm the pickup time (so date is set, with a backup date, but not the time). Instead, they call me less than 24hrs in advance and cancel on me, citing mechanical failures. Instead, they offer to reschedule me more than week later, or only refund the deposit I paid. The problem is my lease was up long before the reschedule date, leaving me completely screwed. I had already driven from CO to KY to start my new job, and now I had to fly back to CO at the last minute ($600 one way), on a holiday weekend, load up a Uhaul and drive it myself! They refused to offer any further compensation and weren't even apologetic about completely screwing me over. I would've been better off selling everything and buying new stuff when I got here. They also never answer their phones and take forever to respond to emails. Cardinal is a terrible company and I cannot recommend against them strongly enough.

3 weeks waiting for my moving

I hired a moving service with this company and they said that I would have all my things from 7 to 10 business days but three weeks have passed, now they do not answer my calls, in addition to that they hire another company to make the move and this company has a Terrible customer service and all they say is that I should wait. I have no idea where my things are, I have paid for the rent of a storage room and an empty apartment waiting for them. They are liars and after you pay they never answer your calls. I do not recommend them at all.
