Long-distance move from Maryland to Florida

Do Not Use This Company.

They lied about delivery time.  They were very rude on the phone once they received my monies.  I have lots of damages because my household belongings did not go straight to florida, it went back up to NJ and was unloaded and reloaded 3 times!  When the items arrived, they only put the beds together and everything else was just left in the middle of the floor but yet they took a lot of my furniture apart and refused to put it back together. They pretty much demanded a tip and refused to take a check made out to cash, followed me to an ATM for cash.  The move cost me $1,000 over the quote and I actually moved less things than what was on my inventory sheet!  NIGHTMARE company.

Long-distance move from Texas to New York

Good Old Fashioned Hard Working Men.

I gotta say this first when I went on to this site Billy.com I didn't expect to get bombarded and harrased with a dozen phone calls and hundreds of emails but I guess that's what happens when you go to the world wide web and put your name and number out there for the whole world to see. Anyway I recieved plenty of prices and quotes and emails from all types of companies. I got so many emails that my inbox started to crash everytime I opended it up. I spoke to a guy named Joe over at Beacons and he sold me on the company and their guys services, I told him I was worried about delivery time as long as I got my stuff safe, well he assured me I'd get my things within a week and that everything would stay on the same truck they came out with. He wasn't lying the guys showed within 6 days from pickup to my new home in Long Island. I was happy everything showed up and in one peiece nothing was broken nothing was damaged ( I got a nice TV that I was a little worried about getting screwed up) they did some nice packing for me in Dallas that made everything secure on the truck. I would like to say these guys are hard working and didn't complain about the breaking stuff down or wrapping or packing up the truck. They came out and did what they had to do and did it good. I want to thank Joe & the Beacon crew that came out for everything they did for me. I'm happy I went with my initial gut feeling cause I couldn't of asked for a better move.

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Never Use This Company.

My Fiance' and I are planning a move to Georgia, among many of the calls and estimates we received we went with Becaon b/c their estimate for what we had seemed reasonable. We spoke to Chenee who seemed nice enough when they were trying to get our card info, after giving them our card info to hold and not charge (until we called back with an exact amount of things we'd be taking) we noticed that they had already charged us! And after thinking it over, my fiance and I decided that we didn't even need a moving company b/c all we had we could fit in our car. We called them back and spoke to Chenee who gave us a major attitude then cold transfered us to Joe who refused to refund our $270.00!! Despite the fact that we weren't even going to be using them. He then spit at us that they cannot contractually refund our money BUT WE NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING!! We asked for his managers name who he stated was named Bill, anyway we're not letting this go we WILL GET OUR MONEY BACK! But word from the wise DO NOT USE BEACOM MOVING AND STORAGE for your next move find someone else anyone else these people are only trying to get your money and once they have it they will treat you like garbage.

P.S these people don't even have their own trucks they are a Broker.

Long-distance move from Virginia to New York

Very unprofessional.

I used this company because I was promised service for the dates I needed. The cost was very reasonable. On the day they were supposed to pick up my household goods I was called and told they would not be able to be there and they would come the following day. The following day no one came or called. I called the office and was told there was an issue and they did not know when my stuff would be picked up. I explained that they had to come because I was now renting a hotel room waiting for them to come. They actually stopped taking my phone calls and no one would call me back. I had my son call them and he got through to them. It was 3 days after my promised date that they came. The movers did not speak english and they told me I would have to pay more money than I was quoted to   have my stuff picked up. What choice did I now have. It was 10:30PM.
When I was called for delivery of my things in New York they were 3 days early. Luckily I could get into my apartment. Again the movers did not speak english. My dresser and a cabinet were missing. Stolen. Some of my dishes were broken in the containers. I called the office and was told someone would call me back. I never, ever heard from anyone. This company is unprofessional. They don't care. Do not use them.

Long-distance move from Florida to New York

Snowbird Moving for the Snow.

I just completed my move with Beacons from FL to NY. Overall I was very pleased with the work and services they provided. I was given a quote via phone/email with a Binding contract based on the inventory that I had submitted. With that quote I was able to budget my entire moving cost up to NYC. I had the guys come out on a Saturday since they don’t charge extra for weekend services and pack and load up so I would get delivery the following Tuesday/Wednesday. The price was on point with everything I was given and told. The only unfortunate thing to happen was my delivery was delayed due to weather up in the North East, (that’ll teach me to never move in the winter again) I finally got my things on Friday that just passed. Even after a week in transit nothing was broken, there were some blemishes on some cheap press wood items but that’s typically standard with those target brands. I will keep Beacon in mind for my next move next year back to the west coast. Thankfully I won't be up in this cold weather for too long :-)  .

Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Florida

AAA Movers!

My wife and I recently completed a move with Beacon Moving & Storage from Boston to Miami. We did a Google search for movers in our area and found 5 different companies that we asked to give us estimates. We complied all the quotes from the companies and started to do our do research, we ended up between Beacon and one other company. We called each company and ask our concerning questions. We decided that Beacon answered our concerns honestly and efficiently. We are very happy with our move; they did a great job moving everything out packed everything up nice on the truck and didn't break anything. The key was that everything get picked up and moved down in a timely manner. We received our things within 4 days from pickup. Upon delivery we checked our items against our itemized inventory everything was accounted for. We checked for damages and we had none but one little scratch on a leg of one of our chairs. A very nice guy on both ends we would definitely recommend Beacon to our friends and family.

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Delivery gone BAD.

Very misleading and unprofessional company.  A course in customer service is much needed from the Supervisor to the truck drivers. They promise you a date and can't deliver. READ the (a very costly mistake that I own) contract carefully before you initial and sign.  I've worked in customer service for over 25yrs and had never spoken to a customer inappropriately. They are all about getting the money and not about good service.  I waited 2-1/2 weeks while they went up and down the state of Florida making deliveries before my furniture was delivered after Xmas. I requested delivery before the New Year. I was told, I have to look out for my guys who are out on the road and I have them working on Xmas, but I can't have them working for New Years.  What about the customer who has paid you over 60% of the fee and you tell me you're more worried about your drivers than the customer. Wasted one entire week listening to a driver promise delivery and he was a no show, no call and no apology. All I received was, he shouldn't have said that and I will speak to him. Back and forth conversation with (Mike G.) the supervisor and he is one RUDE person. What a sham of a business they run. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company. The actual money you think you're saving isn't worth the headaches you'll receive.  BTW, my furniture was put into storage while I was on my way home. I was told that once I made the payment, I could pickup the storage key at the desk. They threw the key to the storage into the unit, instead of leaving it with the office as promised. I paid an additional $25 to have the lock cutoff.    STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE..THE AGGRAVATION AND FRUSTRATION ISN'T WORTH YOUR HEALTH.  NEVER EVER, EVER AGAIN.  If you can, rent a truck and move it yourself.  (I had a 5x7 storage unit moved)  .

Long-distance move from Virginia to Florida

Horrible Experience.

The movers held our load hostage until we paid them an extra $500 by money order.  They said our items would not all fit in one truck an the extra money was to rent another truck. When I told the dispatch agent this was a scam and they had a complete inventory list and weight so they should know what size truck they needed. He immediately starting yelling and cursing at me and said he would leave 1/2 our things in Richmond unless we paid. I can't even begin to tell you how rude and unprofessional that call was. I called the salesman immediately at Beacon and left a message about the demand for more money.  My calls were never returned.    NOTE:  They delivered in ONE truck that also held another household's items. We paid the fee just to get our things.
They delivery was by another company though Joe at Beacon told me they would be delivering in their trucks and using their own staff. I asked specifically if Beacon was a broker and he told me NO.  Our items arrived three days late and many of the boxes were soaking wet on the bottom and had come un-taped.  Items had fallen out of the damaged boxes and were broken.  The movers had shoved the items, including the broken ones, back in the boxes and re-taped. This was obvious because many of the items were no longer wrapped and the paper was loose in the box. There was mildew on some of our linens from the wet boxes.  Overall there were 34 broken items and two pieces of furniture damaged.  Our 1 year old mattress and box springs was missing and they left an old dirty set instead.  We had a complete inventory list with the number of boxes and furniture being moved.  There are seven boxes missing and Joe at Beacon will not return our calls nor have we received any insurance reimbursement for the damaged items.
It has been five months since the move and we have yet to hear from anyone at Beacon. Joe was pleasant and helpful prior to the move but once we had problems he, nor anyone with the company, would take my calls or respond to my emails or letters.  My husband and I have moved numerous times in the last thirty years and we have never had such a bad experience with a moving company. Actually we had more items broken on this move than any the previous moves combined.
I wish I had read all these bad these reviews before hiring Beacon but  I hope his review saves someone else from going through what we did.
The funny thing is that this company was no cheaper than the others I contacted and actually more expensive after paying the hostage fee. We paid $4300 for the move from Virginia to Florida and lost approximately $3500 in damages and missing items.

Long-distance move from Virginia to Maine

Very late delivery time -- 10:30 at night.

It was a small move: a set of master bedroom furniture (king bed, mattress, box spring), large dresser w/ attached mirror, and two large nightstands. I was giving this furniture to my son and daughter-in-law. My biggest complaint is that the furniture was delivered at 10:30 at night on a Sunday night; the movers were unapologetic about the time, were noisy, were careless (dropped items twice); they woke up both children, one of whom had to go to school the next day. Two items were damaged. When I called Beacon to complain, I was referred by three different people to their supervisor; when I left him a voice message, he never replied. Finally I wrote him a letter and he called me and said he would find out why the delivery was so late at night; five days later he has not called me back, although I emailed him a reminder two days ago.  Also, I was supposed to get a phone call when the furniture was 24 hours from its destination; I never did. When I did speak with the supervisor, he told me it was important to him to improve customer service, but I have certainly not seen any evidence of that.

Long-distance move from New York to California

Great Job.

We have had a wonderful experience using Beacon for our move to California. The same nice man loaded our belongings in Syracuse, NY and delivered them to our new home in Los Angeles CA/ Everything arrived in exactly the same condition it was when packed. Nothing was harmed or broken. The truck and staff arrived at exactly the time they had quoted to us in both locations. We would definitely use Beacon again, tho am hoping this will be our last move.

Thanks, Beacon
