Long-distance move from Virginia to Florida

Biggest scammers ever.

We used this poor excuse of a company and with great regret.  Prior to an agreement and contract, they were polite and eger.  After the deposit was paid, that's when the truth came.  Joe lied about our quote and the "communicating during the entire move" is a lie.  He even hung up on my wife.  The movers arrived 6 hours late and took them 8 hrs to pack and load a 2 bedroom apt.  It wasn't a beacon truck like we were told.  I believe it was USA moving or something like that.  They didn't even have packing material.  They made 2 trips to home depot for supplies as well as using 11 sheets and a mattress cover of ours.  They took our stuff to Jersey and unloaded to a warehouse only to re-load to another truck to deliver to FL.  Damaged items and missing/stolen items were reported.  The so called National Claim Management company is pretty much a fraud too.  I find it funny seeing how after some research, is owned by a lawyer named Orit Avraham.  No one every answers the phone or responds to emails.  Our claim was submitted 4 months ago and can not even get a status update on it.  These people need to be taught a lesson.  After reading all the reviews posted after our move, I just can't believe that a "company" like these are allowed to operate.  I will be looking into some sort of legal action.  Someone has to draw the line with these people. .

Nightmare Company.

The salesman Stan gave me an estimate based on the furniture I described. I did not embellish nor did I add anything on. After the movers loaded the truck they informed me I was "over" on the cubic footage and had to pay an additional $300. The day of the promised delivery they did not call us, when we finally were able to reach them we were informed their truck broke down and the delivery would be held up 3 more days! The salesman who promised to communicate with us from begining to end was nowhere to be found. My strong advice..STEER CLEAR of these guys.

Do Not Use Them at All.

The salesman, peter, lied about everything that had to do with our moving. They are the worst company to do business with and they also lost 3 of my boxes and broke glass shelves because they moved my items off the truck two times. I was told that I would have a designated truck and crew but that was a lie!! They have yet to find my boxes and the insurance company that they referred me to is in my opinion fake. They have never acknowledged that they received my claim. Again do not do business with this company or you will be sorry!

Long-distance move from New York to Georgia

Delivery gone BAD.

Very misleading and unprofessional company.  A course in customer service is much needed from the Supervisor to the truck drivers. They promise you a date and can't deliver. READ the (a very costly mistake that I own) contract carefully before you initial and sign.  I've worked in customer service for over 25yrs and had never spoken to a customer inappropriately. They are all about getting the money and not about good service.  I waited 2-1/2 weeks while they went up and down the state of Florida making deliveries before my furniture was delivered after Xmas. I requested delivery before the New Year. I was told, I have to look out for my guys who are out on the road and I have them working on Xmas, but I can't have them working for New Years.  What about the customer who has paid you over 60% of the fee and you tell me you're more worried about your drivers than the customer. Wasted one entire week listening to a driver promise delivery and he was a no show, no call and no apology. All I received was, he shouldn't have said that and I will speak to him. Back and forth conversation with (Mike G.) the supervisor and he is one RUDE person. What a sham of a business they run. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company. The actual money you think you're saving isn't worth the headaches you'll receive.  BTW, my furniture was put into storage while I was on my way home. I was told that once I made the payment, I could pickup the storage key at the desk. They threw the key to the storage into the unit, instead of leaving it with the office as promised. I paid an additional $25 to have the lock cutoff.    STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE..THE AGGRAVATION AND FRUSTRATION ISN'T WORTH YOUR HEALTH.  NEVER EVER, EVER AGAIN.  If you can, rent a truck and move it yourself.  (I had a 5x7 storage unit moved)  .

Unprofessional.

Worst experience ever. Do not ask for their services. At the time of setting up the move, Beacon Rep. (Stan) was so friendly, helpful and promising of the excellent commitment. By the time they charged the deposit, Beacon Rep. Disappeared. They were late for collecting the item, rude attitude, and unprofessional. Delivery was promised with 1-2 days from Cleveland to Boston, that's why we asked for the service after Stan assured the delivery window. By the date of delivery, called and emailed Stan with no luck. Even though left so many messages. I called the services receptionist to check status and found out delivery will be in 5-7 business days!! Tried to send a complain to their website, the link is working, but error when you send as if the address does not exist! I have to extend my stay at a hotel waiting for my stuff to arrive! Will never ask for Beacon services in future.

Long-distance move from Texas to California

Misleadiing.

Would not use Beacon again!! They promised delivery, set-up, and 30 day storage if necessary for my payment.  When truck arrived, my mom's apartment was not ready, so Beacon told me they would not pay for storage and it would cost me to also pay for another crew to come out and make delivery. The sales center was rude and would not let me talk with the original sales agent even though they told me he was working that day. Very unprofessional and unethical.

Long-distance move from California to New York

Loved my experience.

I chose beacon because of the wonderful sales girl Tatiana. She was very professional and informing, as well as a great conversation. Beacon moved me from California to Brooklyn New York. The day of the move I had 3 men come to my place and wrap all my big furniture and also had some of my kitchenware packed. I was a bit scared because I heard of prices going up but that was not my case and I was so happy I got to keep the price that I was promised. Delivery took about 11 days and once I got all my items back I inspected everything and my furniture and everything else was delivered in the same condition as when it was loaded on the truck. I am super happy and will be using beacon again for my daughters move to Washington. Thank you Tatiana and the wonderful beacon team.

Stay away from them and save some mental peace for yourself.

The estimate given to us was $1700 for a 2 bedroom apartment after giving a detailed list of items to ship but were charged $3500 after things were loaded in the truck. The delivery from MA to TX was promised as 10-14 days maximum, reached us on the 31st day. I paid $1467 plus $513 upfront and then $1527 at delivery time. Pick-up date: 11/08 Delivery Date: 12/09. My goods arrived 31 days from the day of pickup. The entertainment center, mattress foundation and the dining table are severly damaged. One huge box of glassware (microwave safe cooking and storing utensils) is lost.  Very poor customer service, rude and inappropriate responses over phone, did not furnish us with true details of the move. When I started retaliating for the injustice they stopped answering my phone calls. They are just brokers, they arrange truck companies and storage companies to finish the move. Very unprofessional and completely dishonest. The goods have been loaded and unloaded at least a few times since it was loaded and taken away from our house in MA. The wear and tear on the brand new moving boxes and spills and stains clearly indicate that. Also it must have been handled by many people who had handled the loading and unloading activities so badly. I've filed a complaint with BBB and I'm waiting for some appropriate action.  I have a strong feeling that the good reviews posted here were by their own people and are not legitimate. Please do not be misled.       .

Extremely Poor Customer Service.

I wish I read reviews about this company before using them. I gladly would have paid more to ensure on-time delivery and at least average customer service. Be sure to read the fine print as I thought three weeks ago that I was providing the DATE I WANTED MY ITEMS but I was told two days before my anticipated delivery that I provided the INITIAL DATE I CAN RECEIVE MY ITEMS. They have up to 21 days after the date you give them to deliver. I have had several interstate moves, including Los Angeles to NYC, and never has it been this difficult to confirm a delivery date for items. Not only have I been paying for an empty apartment, I now also have to extend my temporary living situation until I magically get the call from them (not likely since they have no customer service skills) with the date they can deliver my items. This has been an extremely frustrating experience - save yourselves the headaches and go with another company. I wish I did.

Beacons Dishonesty.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
THEY ACTUALLY STEAL MONEY FROM YOU

BBB SAID THEY AGREED THAT BEACON OVERCHARGED ME 1495
BUT BEACONS DID NOTHING

IF YOU TALK TO A SALESPERSON NAMED JOE, HANG UP THE PHONE
HE IS POSSIBLY THE BIGGEST LIAR I HAVE EVER SPOKEN TO
VERY NICE TILL HE GETS YOUR CONTRACT, THEN HE NEVER ANSWERS AN EMAIL OR RETURNS A CALL

When they picked up my load they said I had 400 too many cubic feet and said if I did not pay them an extra 1495 they would not deliver my furniture
Delivery was guaranteed 4 days later----received 18 days later and only received the original 1400 ft of furniture agreed to

They are simply crooks!!

They should be put out of business! -1 rating.

We made a terrible choice in using Beacon. Price quoted at 800.00 and hijacked our belongings and demanded payment of 2,800.00. No option but to pay.Delivery was 10 days late. Antiques glass China closet was broken as well as several other pieces. Rude abrasive customer service. I can not say enough NEGATIVE things about them. Use at your own risk! I can only imagine any positive reviews are created by Beacon themselves. Just absolutely horrible people. Driver who delivered barely spoke English and shrugged his shoulders as a reply.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Washington, DC

Inconvenient.

All of the negative reviews for this company are accurate. This company overpromises and underdelivers. Once your stuff is in their possession you have no control. It’s taken almost 3 weeks for my stuff to be delivered from NYC to DC! 3 weeks. I could’ve moved the stuff myself for that amount of time! Do not, use this company just because of the price, it’s not worth the headache and going without your belongings not knowing if they are safe and secure or in one piece. The customer service Dispatch line is absolutely rude. Make sure you document everything that takes place when speaking to them. They will try to recant telling you a certain date, then preach the legal (21-35) days timeframe that they claim is on yor contract.

Beacon Is A Moving Broker.

The WORST .. BEWARE!! This company needs negative but I have to give it a star to do the review. BEACON is a BROKER NOT A MOVER!! They use the name Beacon to make people think they are the moving company that has been around for decades with the same name.
I specific ally asked them if they are moving brokers or a the moving company itself and they lied right off the bat and said they were the company. I did NOT want a broker!! When the truck arrived it was a different name. When I asked why the name on the truck isn’t Beacon, I was told it was the same company. Lo and behold I ended up with a nightmare of a moving company that took two weeks to bring my things, half were lost and the other half broken. That is just a summary of the horrific experience I had with the moving company I never hired but ended up with. Beacon was just as horrific and I did call the state to file a complaint against Beacon but did not follow through as I had other things going on and in all honestly couldn’t deal with the lying cheat owner. He was despicable!! He lied to me and told me he owned the moving company when in fact with all of my research with the BBB I found out that he only owns Beacon, a moving broker and the moving company was not associated with him. Beacon is a sleazebag and only deals with sleazebag moving companies. Stay away from Beacon !! They should be shut down!! Don’t know how these scumbags sleep at night!!

Good Moving Service.

I used Beacon Moving and Storage movers for relocating our family from New York City, NY to Dearborn, MI. From beginning to end they made things easier without a doubt. Beacon Moving and Storage are wonderful beyond the words. A-Rated Movers!

Beacon Moving and Storage were responsive, professional and overall just great. The bid from Steven was reasonable with very clear explanation of all the charges. They showed up on time and all four movers were outstanding. They worked hard almost nonstop for 6 hours! We were truly impressed. They took great care of all of our stuff and nothing was broken at the end of it. If I had done it myself half of it would broke. Worth every dollar spent.

Do Not Work With Them!!

If I could give this negative reviews, I would. THEY STOLE MONEY FROM ME - DO NOT USE THEM!!

I booked a move from DC to NY with Beacon Moving about 3-4 weeks in advance. I had multiple phone calls with them confirming the date of the pick up and drop off. They sent me emails confirming the dates. Elizabeth Kisa, who I spoke to multiple times, ensured me I was paying for a VIP "all inclusive" package and EVERYTHING would be covered. After all this, I gave them a $300 deposit because it all sounded great.

THE DAY BEFORE they were supposed to pick up all my items, they called me and said THEY DON'T HAVE ANY TRUCKS AVAILABLE - EVEN THOUGH MY MOVE HAD BEEN BOOKED FOR 3 WEEKS. I had to be out of my DC apartment because my lease was ending and they gave me confirmation that my move was booked. When I tried talking to the dispatch manager, she was SO OBNOXIOUSLY rude, and pretty much said that the confirmation didn't matter and they wouldn't be able to pick up my furniture on the day they had promised - WTF kind of service and company is this?!?!? And then she proceeded to tell me that they "might" be able to pick up my stuff on the next day but wouldn't be able to deliver it to NY for a minimum of 7-10 days, EVEN THOUGH I had a delivery date already confirmed. She was probably the most OBNOXIOUS AND RUDE PERSON EVER. Eventually after spending HOURS on the phone calling other compaines, I found someone else to do my move in time (again, it was the DAY BEFORE THE MOVE when they cancelled) at which point Beacon refused to give me my security deposit back!! On top of that, the dispatch manager said that was booked for the lowest package, not the "VIP all inclusive" that Elizabeth told me I was reserving, and I would "probably have to pay more".

Even though THEY were the ones that didn't show up on the right date, THEY broke a contract, THEY were the ones being rude and obnoxious, and now they won't give me my deposit back. DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU WANT MONEY STOLEN FROM YOU!!

Long-distance move from Marietta, GA to Springdale, AR

Horrible.

This company was very nice during the sales process but that ended upon pickup. To start with, they were a day later than promised on pickup. Before they were even done loading they told me the cost would be much higher than quoted. We had a detailed inventory for the quote so I asked the driver to show me what was different but he couldn't. He just said he was in a hurry and I had to sign so he could get moving. It has now been two weeks since pickup. We have called numerous times to different company numbers asking for an update and we never get a call back. This is not a standard moving company where the truck that picks up your stuff is the one that delivers it. Beacon is basically a broker and farms out the move to unaffiliated 3rd parties so no one takes responsibility. The driver who picked up our stuff flat out told me he was taking it to a warehouse to unload and that some other truck would be hauling to the new location. There is no reason Beacon can't return a phone call and give an update at some point over a 2 week period. Horrible! I would not recommend them to anyone.

Do Your Research!

I was moving from Georgia to Ohio and Beacon quoted me at a price I couldn’t pass up. I signed the contract and packed everything. They were supposed to come on a Saturday at 8 AM - I had to call them the Friday before to see if they were coming. I was finally called around 6:30 to be told that they wouldn’t be there because a van broke down, but would instead be there Sunday or Monday to get my stuff. The man on the phone he would
call me no later than noon on Saturday to give me a day and time they would for sure call. I NEVER received a call on Saturday. I called several times myself on Saturday and no one picked up. I knew they didn’t have hours, but I thought at least a dispatch would be there since I was told you could call anytime to see where your items were. I continued calling Sunday and was finally told someone would be at my apartment between 10-12 on Monday. Then I was contacted by the driver who said 3. They ended up getting there around 6:30 PM. They also told me that they would send 3 people because of the delayed pick up. Two men showed up. I showed them everything that needed to go. After about 4 hours they were “done.” I walked out of my room to see my couch, ottoman, and tv stand which were on my list of items I had given them ahead of time. I walked down to see the truck and they had closed it. I told them they had to take the couch, ottoman and tv stand to which one of the movers said that I instructed them not to take it (I DID NOT say that). After putting the ottoman, couch, and tv stand in the van it took about 200 more square feet. I was then shown my new bill which was about $2000 more than I was quoted. I then called the company the following days to get it explained to me and they gave me the run around, promised they’d call me back (which they didn’t), or would just continuously tell me that I took up more space therefore I was charged way more. They actually texted to deliver earlier than expected which was great, however they sent ONE man to move me in. I called on his behalf (he did NOT ask me to do so, but who sends ONE man to move stuff in?!). They promised AGAIN they would call back and they were sending help. Did anyone else come? NOPE. Did they call me back? NOPE. It was a real shame. It was hard enough moving alone, but the whole experience was so stressful. Be careful when you’re moving. The best price is probably not really the best price. Make sure you have your moving items down to a science because if you go one chair over, you may be paying a hefty fee.

They suck! RUN.!!

The broker takes your deposit then when the mover shows up the broker says see you later you to deal with the mover. The mover before even weighing my stuff said he wanted $2000.00 more. If they tell you Supreme Van Lines is coming you will be disappointed. By the way, they never delivered our stuff on the date we requested and I'm getting the run around .Instead the delivery guy also ignored our calls. Check out BBB or Google reviews. Unfortunately they didn't tell me the name of the movers before they came so I could not research his reviews. Also they never informed me they were just a broker I thought it was a moving company. They gave me that impression, I miss understood, I never will use a broker again. I am from a military family and have been moving all my life and this is the worst experience I've ever had. My stuff is past the legal delivery time and I still have no clue when it's coming.

I wish I can give them negative starts.

I am sharing two demand letters my attorney sent to Beacon Moving and Storage. Long story short, they underbid the job. If you want the full story, see the the (redacted) demand letter to John Allen, BMAS representative. Absolute hacks. They knew they underbid the job, and when John was confronted, he basically STOPPED ALL COMMUNICATION. After the third demand letter, we finally got a response. Basically, I was told to pound sand. I guess we are going to litigation.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!! Your best bet is to move on your own !! The worst customer service I ever experienced. No one could tell me where my stuff was for 2 weeks !
