Staff will steal your items and resell

They “lost” one of my chairs and by the time I had noticed it was past the 30 days I had to make a claim. Now- months later- I find my chair for sale online with the moving stickers (complete with lot number) still intact. Zero accountability for their untrustworthy practices and theft. Avoid at all cost. The seller could not give me a complete answer on how she had attained the chair leading me to understand it was from the moving company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Dishonest, even when asked beforehand

While understanding the nature of the business is fees, I was provided reassurance on the accuracy of my quote beforehand, only to be met with a near 600$ increase due to a stairs technicality that did not line up with what I was sent in personal correspondence. Was told the movers were polite and the process was seamless, but surely they can be more up front about costs, and do less to corroborate other negative reviews about sneaky practices. But I guess people will always need movers.

Additional Fees

This was the worst experience of a moving company ever. After picking up our stuff they said we had more items than they quoted (which we did) but they also said they charge by weight.

They wanted to charge us more than double the quote (upwards of $10,000) but didn't say that until after loading all of our stuff in the truck. The weight was no where near double what the quote was though. We just had a lot of smaller/lighter boxes instead of a lot of larger/heavier boxes. I guess 1 box weighing 100 pounds is better than 100 boxes weighing 1 pound (hypothetical numbers)

On drop off day they asked about stairs and said that it would cost even more because of stairs. They never mentioned this fee before hand and seemed to have just made it up. They did wave the fee afterI argued with them about it(trying to make it seem like a favour to us) but what kind of a favour is that? Oh you know that fee we never told you about in any quote until the day of drop off? Ya I guess we can wave that for you.

These guys are crooks and con-men, stay far, far away from them. As if moving isn't stressful enough, they added stress to it constantly with last minute charges and argumentative phone calls.

Worst Company

I would never never never recommend this company to anybody, please check other company before you come to Van lines. The worst worst worst Moving company in the world i will say. Don't trust this people their is a lot of thieves and idiot working there. my overall experience with Atlantic Van Lines moving company was nothing sort of nightmare. their negligent handling of my belongings, lack and offering only fraction of the value for a damaged item have left me extremely dissatisfied. I strongly discourage anyone from using their services and suggest exploring other moving options that prioritize customer satisfaction and care for belongings. In addition to the missing bag, one of my valuable items worth over $ 500 was missing due to careless handling, however, when i requested a refund they told me to wait 8 to 10 week whereas they offered me a mere $ 20, which is an insult, considering the sentimental and monetary value of the damaged item.

Those who are writing good review there are people that work there or some of their contact, take care don't read those good review, read the bad review you will see. Most of my items is broken and what you will get wait 8 to 10 week and get paid $$$$$20.00 as an Insult.

Only one person is writing good review there so you guys can understand nobody is happy.

WORST WORST WORST COMPANY.

don't trust them.

Absolutely fantastic

I'm an extremely nitpicky person and I have never made a long distance move before. I am so thankful that I found Atlantic Van Lines because the price was good, the customer service was exceptional, and the guys that delivered my stuff were excellent. Dealing with Jen made this move seamless and eased a lot of my anxiety. No matter what time I sent an email with questions, I got an answer very quickly... And a lot of times it was during the late evening and probably on her own time. Her customer service skills are exceptional, she went over and above, and even though everything else was great I would recommend this company solely based on my interactions with Jen. My goods arrived a day earlier then expected but we worked around it. I had pre-wrapped my stuff before it was shipped... which you should do anyway....but when it was delivered it had additional bubble wrap to protect it even further! BEAUTIFUL!! My piano was in pristine condition and it arrived to my new residence in the same shape.... You can't get any better than that! The two young men that unloaded my stuff we're friendly, polite, and so helpful. I am so glad that I hired Atlantic Van Lines and they will be my choice of movers from now on.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Atlantic Van Lines, Movers excelled yet again on my mother's move into a retirement community close to family. While loading was no problem given years of experience, their compassion stood out, crew members took time to listen and bring smiles during this emotional transition. All breakable family souvenirs including Mom's antique teapot collection arrived as if on display in a museum. Their attentiveness through difficult moments is deeply appreciated. Thank you Atlantic Van Lines, Movers for all your support! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Great company

Great company! The staff were helpful and extremely trained. They went above and beyond to ensure WE WERE SATISFIED. All of our precious stuff was packed very well, and there was absolutely no damage to any of our furniture. The driver of movers was especially skilful in bringing the semi through the tight corners of our gated community. It's good to know that there is a company like this who truly cares for their customers. I would recommend this moving company to anyone in need of some help moving. Thanks for everything.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Without a doubt, my family and I have ever utilized the greatest moving Atlantic Van Lines company . We have a lot of experience traversing the nation because we were a military family in the past. In the past, we've used a lot of the "big name" van lines, and our stuff has always arrived securely. The customer care element was absent from each of these actions, though. Z Company offered exceptional service from the time we received our quote until the final box was unloaded.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Do Not Use this Company.

Terrible! Messed up communications regarding timing of move in day. Movers had no runners and walked up and down in and out of the house with freshly cleaned carpets with their dirty shoes. marked up the freshly painted walls. they dumped the stuff anywhere they felt like, left stuff in the garage without checking if it should go there. they then took off without saying a word and neglected to tell me that they would not be reassembling all the beds, tables and other furniture they had disassembled. Didn't even tell me where all the hardware was. there were scratches and gouges on some pieces of wood furniture, and a missing lamp too..not happy at all. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! YOU WILL REGRET IT. OVERCHARGED FOR WEIGHT HAD NO WAY TO VERIFY..RIDICULOUS!

Think Twice about this one.

In summary:
Atlantic Van Lines is not a member of CAM. Get a CAM mover and you will be happier with the results.

Lower estimates are used to lure you into choosing this mover. They will get your business, report a much higher weight after the scaling process and charge you a much higher fee than they estimated; by then you have no alternative but to pay if you want to recover your assets. Remember, it is your right to be present during the scaling process or to even ask for re-scaling if you don't believe they are correct or the difference between your estimate and actual fees is too big.

They are not transparent with their additional and hidden charges. Do your research and ask them for details.
If you have good assets, you will be better off getting additional insurance for your move because with Atlantic Van Lines you will have broken and missing items.

If you need to go to the claims process for damaged assets, don't expect to get much out of it unless you had acquired additional insurance coverage. Either way, what they will reimburse you is an insult that just adds to the aggravation of the whole process.

If you want to know more about my experience with Atlantic Van Lines you can continue reading.

Moving details:
Moving a 2 bedroom apartment from Montreal to Toronto in January. The 2 floor apartment was located on the 18th floor approximately 20 meters from the service elevator

Pros:
+ you are assigned an agent who will become your contact person
+ prompt administrative response and follow up
+ courteous staff no matter the situation they are dealing with
+ movers were always on time or notified you when they were not going to be

Cons:
+ they provided generic estimates based on weigh. Their initial estimate was based on the number of rooms in my apartment despite I provided an itemized list of all assets to be moved
+ they will not send a person to your home to perform an on-site estimation like certified movers do
+ Their estimate was off by at least 3,000 pounds according to the scale weight reported. Such a large difference between estimate and actual weight underscores either the lack of experience of this company producing estimates or the transparency of their scaling process.
+ Atlantic only disclosed information on additional charges and hidden costs when I specifically inquired about them (e.g. packaging costs, long distance displacement, additional insurance, etc.)
During the move (move day)
+ Movers broke several items during pick up and delivery. No reports were filed on-site. I was told to submit a claim
+ Movers decided they were going to apply a long displacement charge for the distance they had to walk from the elevator to the apartment and requested cash on-site
+ I had disassembled most of the furniture but movers insisted on further disassembling some items (e.g. desks); they broke on-site everything they disassembled (and they used my tools to break my furniture!)
+ movers used plastic bags to wrap some of the furniture. The plastic bags generated additional charges despite the fact that the moving agent had told me that this was included
+ boxes marked as fragile were moved just like any other box, no extra care despite the signage in the packing
+ items were literally "jammed" into the truck (seeing how they had packed the truck, I knew many items will not make it to destination in one piece)
Upon Delivery:
+ no assembly was performed, several packages were missing (e.g. boxes, appliances and items that could not be packed)
+ multiple pieces of furniture were broken, scratched or had missing parts
+ Took pictures of all damaged items and filed a claim. After 2 months, they estimated that our insurance deductible covered our damages and they owed us nothing but since they are nice guys they were going to give us a $50 CDN consolation incentive (our estimation for repairing damaged wood furniture and replacing missing items was over $1,300 CDN)

I cannot in good conscience recommend this mover. Thanks.

Horrible experience.

I had a horrible experience with this company. They took 3 hours to pick up my furniture (1 bedroom condo) with me helping them. They called 6 times to change the time for drop off and to ask me to change the elevator booking time, which I repeatedly told them I can't. They delivered half of my stuff broken.

Long-distance move from North Bay, ON to Vancouver, BC

Zero stars. Run away.

Seriously. Run. Don’t walk. Get away from these guys ASAP. I had actually read a couple of bad reviews.. but a lot of moving companies have bad reviews. It’s easy to write them off as “angry people who complain about everything”. I figured, happy people don’t wrote reviews after a move. I got a whole bunch of quotes, and not only was Atlantic van lines one of the best quotes (seemingly thourough, all fees upfront-even after I specifically asked about some, not super expensive, but not the cheapest) but I genuinely felt like the best customer service came from them. I felt really well informed and supported by the office staff, they always answered questions right away, and seemed to know their stuff.
Nope. Just good sales people I guess.
The movers were atrocious. They were nice, but they weren’t careful with my things, and the home we were moving out of needed to have the hallway and stairway repainted from all the scrapes. One spot, I actually had to re plaster because of a big hole from one of the guys dropping something down the stairs. Awesome. But at that point, what do I do? Say “no thanks, I’ll find another cross country mover with no notice”?! We had to go. I had sold the house and we were flying out in the morning. It was incredibly stressful.
The move itself took a week longer than quoted.
Whatever. Stuff happens. I’m actually a pretty understanding person.
Then it got bad.
When I received my things, virtually everything was broken. That sounds like an exaggeration, but it truly is not.
I had bought brand new heavy duty moving boxes, wrapped everything in bubble wrap, packed things extremely well, and made sure nothing was too heavy. I figured, with the boxes travelling across four provinces, better to be safe.
Once they were delivered, not ONE of the boxes could be reused. That’s how badly they were damaged. Holes, rips, wet.. just trashed. Much of the stuff in boxes was fine, but many things were dented or broken.
Four boxes were missing.
A ladder was missing
A small, very special, one-of-a-kind table from Thailand that I hauled across the world with me was missing.
Every piece (that sounds exaggerated, but I literally mean EVERY piece) that was not in a box, is somehow damaged.
Three beds broken to the point of being unusable without a trip to the hardware store.
A large, beautiful lamp, trashed..scrapes, a glass piece missing (probably shattered and gone I’m guessing), the whole thing is bent.
Scrapes on everything.
Dents on everything.
Wood furniture pieces split.
A bookshelf was muddy (how??!) and two shelves on it were broken.
A large play kitchen missing one whole bottom side.
Two pieces of art, beyond repair.
A couch that now bends in the middle so zero people can sit on it comfortably. Great.
A very special 150 year old antique dresser, scratched along the whole front.
An almost-new leather recliner that sits crooked now and can’t rock because of it.
The couple pieces that we had that was made of particle board (like, IKEA stuff, for example) had fallen apart. Actually apart.
I could go on for soooo long.
All of these large non-boxed items THEY wrapped and packed for me. And certainly not for free.
I have a nice house. I buy nice things. I treat my things well. I’m good with tools, and my things are built and maintained properly.
I’m absolutely heartbroken over these things. I know that they are just things.. and I’m focusing on the fact that all the people were moved safe and sound. But man oh man.. I hate that my things are all wrecked. I miss my lovely home.
I tried to file an insurance claim. The amazing customer service staff were suddenly out of the office a lot. And since things were insured by the pound (uggggh) it just wasn’t worth it anyway. One of the pieces of art that was wrecked cost $1800. It was a very special gift that my husband and I bought for each other. It weighed about half a pound. So I could have received 30 cents for it.
I would have been better off selling all of my things and just buying new at our new home. Unfortunately, that would cost far more than we have, so now I live in a house full of broken stuff. I’m still unpacking, and every day I find something new that is going from the box to the garbage dump. :(
Horrendous.

Atlantic van lines review.

I would not move with this company.
they seemed to have good reviews on the internet and the quote they offered was very nice. they initially had really good customer service, prompt answering of emails and phone calls. then it all went downhill.

they lost 4 boxes. and I never heard back from them despite repeat emails and phone calls. they showed up at the new place with 2 items that weren't ours.
also, they quoted 7-10 days to delivery our stuff - but it didn't show up till about 3 weeks later.
there was some mild damage to some furniture. more worrisome was the lost stuff.
don't move with this company!

A Nightmare.

They are pleasent on the phone first time you call just to get you but once you sign with them the nightmare begins. my pick up was 4 hours late and the quote they gave me was 700 but I was charged 3000. I am sure they lie about the weight of your items NoWay my items were almost 3000 lb for a one junior bedroom not even including a bed set. if you ask to rescale at your presence its a 300 charge approximately and they say if they are 200 lb over or under then its ok. you do the math they have 200 lb room for error at 55-60 cents a lb plus you loose your 275 rescalling. the delivery was late and in the process I had written them 27 e mails just to be clear on things since they are extremely VAGUE that is because they have lots to hide. Once I got my items all were damaged even though I took extra time to bubble wrap and cover pretty much all of my items( even the mover told me excellent job on packing) but somehow they still managed to give my items back in terrible condition. They NEVER return a phone call neverrrrr everytime I called they said owner is away not in town or always bz on the phone . in 2 month not even a return call. e mails are always late reply you write them with 3 questions they answer to one in a very vauge manner. I have missing bagggggs and it takes 4-6 weeks to put a claim in . still no reply even though the 6 weeks is up. so many hidden charges and I had to pay close attention to billing since they had charged me with few extra services as if .. dooonnnttttttttt use this companyyyyyyyy at alllllll or you be ssssssoooorrrrryyyyy!!

Dont use them, they don't Care for you, your belongings or your home.

They don't care for you or your belongings, or your home. We requested the pickup and the delivery guys to remove their shoes and they made a face and refused to remove them made the old and the new home dirty and had to call cleaners to have the house cleaned, the guys are not friendly at all. customer service does not exist and they don't care for their customers. We were promised that the charges include "Room to Room" service and also includes dis-assembly and the guys refused to deliver some of the heavy items to our room, left it in the garage, when we complained to the customer service they were rude and did not care. do not recommend them even if they provide moving service for free.

Make yourself a service and do not trust your bellongigs to this company if you are not prepared for everything to go wrong:
1. they lie to get your business with a low quote to find yourself getting a bill three times the quote
2. due to rough handling and improper wrapping and protection your goods will end up damaged, soiled, scratched, dented and busted (lost pieces, shattered glasses and lamps, broken furniture) etc.
3. their client protection program is a sham, they will make you fill out
complicated forms with all kind of information and then drag it out
until you get tired or forget about the claim. If you are the
insistent ttype hen , after more than 2 months of excruciating
emails they will get back to you with a settlement proposal that is a huge offence to anybody’s intelligence.
