Super unprofessional

I’d give them zero stars, if I could. They don’t communicate any changes. Try to charge you more after manipulating the no. Of boxes required to move.

Very very unprofessional, got our order late due to floods but never informed until we reached out to see where our shipment is.

No apologies no communication sent

Some hidden charges can be expected

Unorganized and crooks

Do not move with these guys. The day of delivery they showed up with a full truck saying they had no room for our stuff. Only after calling the head office and telling them we need to sell the place and the stuff needs to get moved, only then they said they would go "somewhere," then be back to unload the stuff later on. Before leaving the driver went up to the condo where he told us if he was going to move the furniture, which wasn't a lot we would have to pay an extra $700. Needless to say their "accurate quotes" are not accurate, they wait to see how desperate you are before tacking on extra fees. There wasn't that much stuff as it was my wife's late grandparents place so we cancelled and went with a Uhaul. We did not get our $400 deposit back. Interestingly when the driver was leaving he the middle half of his truck was empty... These guys are criminals who leave everything as vague as possible so they can screw you in the end. Taking advantage of desperate people. Shame on them, I'll never do business with them again.

Doubled the rate at time of pick up

Driver showed up , then said he had no room. Then came back and said he had room. Driver talked down to my wife and sister-in-law, before he knew I was there. Then he started quoting extra cost for wrapping $200 and then an extra $500 because of our hall way length. BOTH of these were talked about in the quoting process . I told him to get out of our condo and that this company is a bunch of crooks! DONOT send them any money! They will lie to get the job and then up charge at time of pickup. DONOT do any business with this company!

SCAM - BEWARE

This company is completely illegitimate and essentially a scam disguised as a moving company. I contacted them to move from Ottawa to Winnipeg. I have a small one bedroom apartment that is very sparsely furnished - only the necessary items. I was quoted $800 but the day before the move they contacted me for an inventory list of my items, which again were the minimal items you need to to furnish a one bedroom my quote was suddenly MINIMUM $1600 . From $800 to $1600 24-hours before the move. I talked to Jen and Lauren, who were both very unprofessional and rude and ultimately decided to fire them as my movers and go with another option. I only had to pay $450 for my down payment, which I will not get back, but I consider myself lucky because with their sketchy business practices I knew the move would cost far, far more than $1600. There needs to be an investigation into how companies like Atlantic Van Lines are effectively shells for scams like this. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Even prior to the sketchy quote they were very disorganized and did not seem to communicate with each other.

YOU WILL REGRET IT IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY

I never write reviews, but I have to add to the warnings to AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!! They are dishonest and unprofessional. The initial quotes are not even close to what they end up charging you. Plan for at least double. They LIE. And once you've given them your deposit, they basically have you hostage. SPREAD THE WORD. It is shameful how they conduct business, and they could not care less about you, the client. My review could be pages and pages of complaint -- echoing all of the other reviewers -- random changes, surprise fees, intimidating movers, completely untrustworthy representatives. They made the move a terrible experience. I will tell everyone I know about them and never, ever to use them. (NEGATIVE STARS - they don't deserve 1 star!!!)

Long-distance move from Ontario to Alberta

Great Service

My experience with Atlantic Van Lines was nothing short of great and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

I had a small move consisting of about 25 boxes and furniture items that had to go from Ontario to Alberta.

I shopped around and chose Atlantic because they were competitively priced and the service from Jen was great. The movers at both ends were friendly and professional and all my things arrived safe and sound. Nothing was damaged and all my boxes looked like they did the day they left Ontario.

Before signing on I asked a lot of questions to make sure I understood the price calculations and the time table for my move and I had no surprises.

A big thanks to Atlantic Van Lines.

How I beat Atlantic SCAM lines, I mean van lines.

How I beat Atlantic SCAM Lines, I mean Van lines.

Long story short, they trashed my belongings, were late for delivery and tried to charge me thousands of dollars extra than what I was quoted.

In the end, I received all my belongings at no additional cost after a long and dreadful battle.

How did I beat them? Well, I caught them in three lies, lies that come from the top level of management all the way to the bottom. This company is the worst time of company you can imaging.

One key way to get out of paying for their scam is to request the weight ticket that is supposed to be issued to you on site when the truck driver picks up your belongings. If they do not provide this, they cannot charge you additional weight charges.

That was the main lie that allowed me to get out of paying a huge amount of money. Good luck to anyone using their service. You are going to need it.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY

THIS IS THE WORST MOVING COMPANY WE HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. WE PAID A LOT EXTRA FOR THEM TO PACK OUR THINGS AND THE MOVERS JUST SHOVED THINGS IN BOXES, THEY PUT THE TOILET PLUNGER WHICH WE TOLD THEM NOT TO PACK IN WITH OUR UNWRAPPED DISHES, THEY DAMAGED OUR COUCH, A FUTON, 2 LAMPS AN IPAD AND NUMEROUS OTHER THINGS. THEN AFTER WAITING 11 WEEKS FOR A CLAIMS RESPONSE THEY OFFERED US $30 COMPENSATION. They staff are horrible and not helpful and the movers also damaged property in the building we were moving out of and we found one of the guys sleeping in the truck after showing up 3 hours late. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Destroy thousands of dollars worth of stuff.

Absolutely horrible experience. They didn't take everything with them and we were left trying to transport the rest. When boxes arrived many things were in boxes that they were not originally packed in. Thousands of dollars worth of furniture, paintings, and items were completely damaged. We didn't even have time to go through everything before they demanded any claims were due, and they only reimbursed us for less than $50. Do not use this company.

Long-distance move from Ontario to Prince Edward Island

Very sneaky company on how they conduct their business

They start by providing a very low quote to basically grab you. Ours was for a 3 bedroom home. Then they will increase the weight and price based on the inventory list you submit. They will take a non-refundable deposit to reserve your move and then give you a much higher quote based on a five-minute conversation with their dispatcher one business day before your move. Basically trapping you to use their services regardless. I went from 4000 to 8300 to 13000 lbs-2100 to 4100 to $6300 before tax. They will not provide a scale ticket if it is less than the weight quoted. And I was confident I was no more than 6000 lbs because of my last move. I don't how they calculate weight but, it's very shady. In the end, I lost all faith and trust in this company so I cancelled the move because it was cheaper for me to rent a truck and move my goods myself. And also because instinctively I felt they were going to charge me more money later on. And also because I felt some of my goods would go missing or get damaged. The whole idea to use this company was to avoid all the labour of moving with the exception of packing ourselves, and not break the bank. We lost the $1000 non-refundable deposit for which I had no issue but, then they also charged my wife's visa a dry-run fee of $1550 for cancelling. She disputed the charge with Scotiavisa to have it reversed but they could not do anything because we had no cancellation confirmation number (not that they provided a confirmation number for the reservation in the first place). Everything was through email correspondence not that it helped whatsoever in the dispute. This company knows exactly what they are doing to take you for your money either way. There is no win-win for you. They will end up winning and taking something from you in the end. I highly recommend you read all the reviews before deciding to use this company. If you decide to use this company then read very carefully their terms and conditions. We made the mistake of researching this company after the fact. No matter what they are stating, I can guarantee you will be charged additional hidden fees/charges in the end. Thank you for taking the time to read our review. (-5 Stars)

Long-distance move from Ontario to New Brunswick

The worst movers ever!

Probably the worst experience I have ever had.

After quoting prices based on weights of 5000lbs, 7000lbs and 10,000lbs, they told me (after they picked up all of the contents) that there was a minimum weight of 12,000lbs and charged me based on that. Roughly $3000 more than the last quote sent. If 12,000lbs is the minimum, why quote the lesser amounts?

On top of that, almost every piece of furniture was damaged, lots of items lost and being told that the truck would take up to 10 days to get from Toronto to Fredericton (a 3day drive tops). When the truck finally did arrive, they would not unload anything until I signed paperwork to say that everything was present and undamaged.

Their insurance? They offered $30 as a "good will" to cover the couch, bed frame, coffee table, entertainment cabinets, fireplace and other furniture and also to replace the step ladder and dolly which went missing. Both of those items I am sure are very handy when you are a moving company.

Trust these cowboys with your belongings at your own peril.

You have been warned.

How can this company exsist?

My experience with these crooks has been nothing short of horrible. We had boxed our possessions, garment bagged our clothes, yet when the movers came

( one day early) they threw everything into their boxes. Including packed dishes, breakables. Quoted price for straight move from N.S. to manitoba was $ 1450. Then the new fees. Plus re boxing fee of 400 warehouse fee of 300, plus this fee and that fee it ballooned to almost $4400!. When questioned about the price gouging and delivery of our contents

(one 55 inch tv, 2 wicker dressers, 3 kitchen chairs , pictures, clothes, pots pans and a lawnmower) we were told, if we didn't pay, things would be put in storage and get charged their storage rates till they took us to court!!!. NEVER DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS. The lady in the office, Kim, your supposed to deal with, is a joke. Never have I had the displeasure of a " business transaction " as much as these clowns. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Thanks for the warning

I was initially booked to move with this company, however after reading all bad reviews online I have decided not to go with it. I understand some of you have damaged goods/furniture and I would like to pursue some legal action to take my deposit back. If anyone wants to pursue any further legal actions please contact me we can do this in small claims court ontario and get our money back. I am so disappointed in myself for not checking any reviews prior to booking and paying the deposit. What a terrible customer service

Scammed all the way

From the time I got a quote and the time I had to pay, because you have to pay in full prior to delivery of your stuff, the amount was twice as much!!! On top of that, several pieces of furniture was damaged, 60” smart tv broken, and my lawnmower is missing! Worst Move EVER!

Absolutely do not use this company, trust me. If I could give a 100-star negative review, I would.

They told me 10 to 15 days to go from BC to NB. After 20 days and nothing, I asked for an update as it was over the 15 days, then I'm told it doesn't include weekends or bank holidays. So at 25 days, my stuff arrived.

I had 2 tvs in proper padded tv boxes and had also wrapped bubble wrap around them inside the box, yet they still managed to completely trash one of them. A broken lampshade, a brand new armchair covered in mud and scratches, a tear in one of my mattresses, and a broken mirror which has been through 6 previous moves with absolutely no damage. A set of beautiful nesting tables that were shipped by my inlaws from Hawaii in the 90s, also have been through many moves with no damage, now with broken pieces ripped off of them. But the worst of all, my 2-year-old laptop went missing. I know other boxes were missing because some of my kitchen things didn't arrive. But really, a laptop? So those missing items were obviously dropped off at the wrong customer as there were 6 other customers' goods on the truck.

But losing my laptop, with pictures of my husband who died a couple of years ago that I'll never get back, to say nothing of my personal information, legal documents, and banking info out there for someone else to use at their discretion. That's definitely not right. Screams of breach of personal information.

On top of all that, about 3 or 4 weeks after the delivery, I was checking over one of my credit card statements and there was a charge from Atlantic for $750, something I was never contacted about. When I called to ask what that was all about I was told it was because the movers couldn't get within 100 feet of my house and that they had to go into town and offload all my belongings on a smaller truck so they could get closer to my house. This was absolute bull as they had the giant truck backed up right in my driveway.

After I complained about it, there was an apology stating they'd charged me in error, it was supposed to be another customer. So take my advice and check any credit cards you have to make sure they haven't done the same to you. I think they do it randomly, hoping nobody will notice.

And the movers themselves were awful. Any box that said fragile on it, they put on the floor and then dropped heavy boxes on top of them.

And exactly as mentioned in other reviews, after I put in a claim for around $6000, supposed to hear in 8 to 10 weeks. After week 11 I asked for an update, they say after the deductible of $325, I'm eligible for -$299.

Moving Experience

Absolutely would recommend this company to move anyone. Contact person was more than helpful. Always quick to reply to any and all emails. We moved from Manitoba to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The men who loaded our furniture etc., were always polite and yet were able to show their sense of humour as well. Once the furniture, etc was delivered, again we dealt with men who got the job done and were always professional and polite. I have NO complaints about the process. I learned a lot and to me that is a good thing. Thank you Atlantic Van Lines and specially Jen.

Great service, competitive price. Jen is an excellent communicator, and she quickly responded to all my questions. 1 bedroom move from ON to BC

I moved from Toronto to Vancouver. I had about 20 boxes of just personal items- books, clothes, bags etc. (no big furniture, no TV, no kitchen supplies). Communication with Jen was always prompt and had no issues communicating with Atlantic Van. When I got to Vancouver, I dealt with Vega Line Moving & Storage Service- think they're a subcontractor. No issues with communications with them either. All my stuff arrived in one piece; I had a broken box lid but that was the extent of my damage. I used mostly storage boxes and not cardboards so think it helped minimize any damage.

Some things I wish they provided

- tracking service

- giving a more accurate move-in/out date and time. I was moving from a condo to another condo and booking elevators is a nightmare if you don't know what time your movers are coming

- their pricing. They send you a gigantic invoice and not much else to help you understand the fine print

- the movers were late and there was no communication from them; I had to follow up a few times to see where they were at. Proactive communication would have been appreciated

Moved from Toronto, ON to St. John's, NL. Packers were on time, friendly and efficient. But, so much damage in transit. The refund (joke) by weight is ridiculous - so my books were ok but not my large-screen tv or lamps no. After the deductible, I was offered $30. Even my fake Xmas tree was destroyed. They ruined my ceiling when moving boxes in - no coverage. Beware of these cons and heed the reviews. Stay away!!! They take your money with no remorse and you have no recourse. You can't track your stuff or confirm the weights of things. They argued with me that I broke and sent my own stuff. Seriously please pay a reputable company, not these folks.

The worst experience ever. I moved my inheritance from my recently departed mom from Oakville Ontario to Alberta. When my few boxes arrived, they were stacked with the heavier box on top. I had fragile written everywhere on the boxes but they arrived smashed. They also moved an antique chair and Atlantic vanlines broke the leg on that chair. I complained, sent pictures, sent emails, called the company and it took a year to get a response. Atlantic van lines stated I should have purchased insurance...my mom just died and I was not thinking about insurance.
