Carefree Moving Made My Move Easy!

I can’t thank Carefree Moving enough! From start to finish, they made my move incredibly simple. The team arrived on time, and their friendly attitudes immediately put me at ease. They carefully packed and loaded all my belongings, ensuring everything was secure. I was especially impressed with how they handled my fragile items, ensuring everything arrived at my new home safely and sound. Thanks to their professionalism and attention to detail, the process was smooth and stress-free. I’ll be using them again for any future moves!

Long-distance move from Quebec to Ontario

Terrible Experience.

We moved from Quebec to Ontario at the end of December 2015, and booked Carefree moving to pack (this is important) and transport our belongings from our 2 bedroom apartment. They told us it would take about a half a day. Well first of all, they showed up over an hour late on moving day. Then, they seemed surprised/annoyed that we hadn't packed our things. They had brought only a handful of boxes, and did NOT seem up to the task. These were the slowest movers I've ever seen in my life. Even with friends we called in as emergency backup, it took A DAY AND A HALF before the truck was even ready to leave. Hotel and car reservations had to be rebooked, child care had to be managed for extra days, all at our expense. We were never once offered a discount or reimbursement for our trouble - quite the opposite, we were charged the hourly for their extra hours of incompetence. I have seen real pro movers work (when we moved to Montreal in the first place) - they packed an entire 3 bedroom house in half a day, tops.
To add insult to injury, our chest freezer was damaged in the move (read: no longer works at all), and the company never responded to our inquiries about it. Also, we have discovered many items missing. I don't want to say stolen, since they had little to no monetary value, but they are certainly gone.
Most stressful move of my entire life, and I've moved with a newborn.

Official company response

Good afternoon, Hazel.

I could not disregard your claims published here especially because half of what you write isn't true. To avoid misunderstandings let me answer to all your claims.

1. First of all, it's not about a 2 bedroom apartment, as you're writing in your review, but about a 5 bedroom apartment. Unfortunately, Privacy Policy doesn't allow me to publish the screenshot of your actual request. You can definitely check your email dated on December 8, 2014 where's written about 5 bedroom apartment moving.

2. Secondly, as about our 1 hour delay, you can also check your spouse's email dated on December 22, where he asks to change booking time.

3. Now some true information regarding boxes that you are complaining about. Let me remind you that at the beginning you asked about our price for packing supplies, then you decided to buy them in Montreal. So, no order for the boxes from you to us has been received. However, all of our trucks are well equipped and have some stock of materials. So, we provided you with: 20 boxes, 2/10 lb wrapping paper, 9 packing tape, 2 stretch wrap.

4. You think our movers works too slow. Let's see the results: 7.5 hours for furniture disassembling and packaging, kitchen stuff packaging and stuff loading. Just to remind, that it was a 5 bedroom apartment. Then, 3.5 hours for unloading, unpacking and reassembling. Based on our experience, these results are great.

5. Concerning your freezer, please read your spouse's letter dated on January 10. (Since the move, our chest freezer hasn't been working properly - it gets cold, but not below zero, and the compressor just runs for a few seconds then clicks a bunch and switches off.Can we claim with your insurance for a replacement or repair? ) Your freezer wasn't dropped and wasn't damaged.

6. Now about the disappearance of your belongings. After the truck was loaded, you put your own lock. After the unload, our 28 ft truck was cleaned by our movers and inspected by your spouse. We got your spouse's signature that he did the inspection and didn't find any of remaining belongings. This procedure is mandatory and after the truck's arrival to the yard we inspect it again. If we find the stuff, that has been forgotten by our movers, the movers must deliver this stuff to the owner at their own (movers') expenses using their own vehicle. Also to mention is that your moving was made on December 29, 2014 and you decided to write your feedback half a year later, on May 6, 2015. I find it weird that only after half a year from your move you suddenly noticed that something is missing and you think it right to blame on us. Hopefully, by the end of the year you'll find your missing stuff and your apologies would be much appreciated.

I am sorry that I had to write all this here, but I must and I will defend the good name of my company when it's being openly slandered. I have no problems to apology when I am wrong, though. But not now.

I wish you all the best and wishing you to get the harmony with this world and with yourself. The best way to achieve it is to enjoy this life and be more tolerant to people.

Moving office with Carefree Moving.

Do not use Carefree Moving is my advise. I booked Carefree Moving to help move a small office from one building to another building down the street.First of all Carefree were supposed to be at the office by 5:00pm, at 6:00pm they called to say they were still in Burlington( I was in downtown!) and they would be with me by 7:00pm. It was almost 8:30pm  before they arrived. When they arrived they barely apologised. There was a parking spot right outside the building, but they would not park there even though it was after 8:30pm, we had checked with the building security and the street was completely quiet, they said they were afraid they might get a ticket as they were  close to a bus stop! The bus doesn't even run that route anymore which I explained to them! some men in my building offered to help the assistant move the furniture so the driver could stay with the van (even though there was no chance of him getting a ticket at this time) They said no. So I suggested they move to a space down a side street on the opposite side, they said it was too far away!! by this stage it was after 9:00pm, they obviously just did not want to help me move as it was so late. So I then suggested we leave the move until first thing the next morning as I was so frustrated and I knew there would be plenty of parking spots, again they said no as they were too busy. They left me there with all my office furniture ready to move at 9:30pm at night with no alternative to help me move and I never even got a phone call to apologise the next day or even heard from the company againI could not believe it! DO NO USE CAREFREE MOVING!!

Horrible Moving Experience with CAREFREE MOVING.

Save yourself time and money by NOT using this moving company. I had two large men show up to my home who moved bins one at a time - two men for every one bin carried! They claimed the boxes were packed too heavily but as a 30 year old female weighing 120 pounds I was quite capable of moving the bins myself. SLOW SERVICE is an under statement carrying items one at a time in stead of taking a handful. At one point I also got the feeling one of the guys was trying to take my TV that he thought was broken/unusable. Not only were they slow, unprofessional, and did not take off their shoes or placed runners to avoid getting dirt everywhere (it was raining that day so you could only imagine the mess left) but they REFUSE to accept responsibility for a couch that was damaged during the move. They are claiming I caused the damage although I was able to provide proof in the form of a picture of the couch taken a month prior in excellent condition. They were informed of the damage the same day to which it took them two weeks of back and forth communications for them to come out eventually and say that I (the customer) am lying. To date they also have not sent an invoice for the service provided however they were quick to charge my credit card the same day of service. This company does not understand the value of the customer nor their property. This company also does not seem to care that moving can be a frustrating as it is, and then to add to that an unprofessional team of employees that could care less about your belongings or home. I also enjoyed (sarcasm) watching one of the movers drag a metal picture across a glass top table. Towards the end (and almost at my wits ends) I put on my shoes and started taking my belongings out of their truck MYSELF to speed things along. I REPEAT, save your MONEY, TIME, AND PATIENCE and choose a company that cares! Also don't expect this company to accept responsibility for their movers causing extensive damage to your furniture.

This is the worst move I have ever had. I told them I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment and was moving to a 2 storey townhouse. I itemized all my contents including boxes as they requested. On the day of move, they sent a small truck and 2 men. They took 11.5 hours to load and offload the truck. Could not bring all my furniture. At the new location, they refused to take the furniture upstairs unless I paid them extra. Did not assemble the furniture nor unwrap them. Left all the boxes in the garage. Said they got a weird call from their boss who requested that I paid them in full before they completed the move. They lied because they wanted to just dump everthing and leave. Called the company and the person who answered said I lied about the size of my move. Said I told them it was a 2 bedroom when instead I had a 3 bedroom. This move has costed more than it should have. I had to pay 2 other people to move the boxes and assemble the furniture for me. They also damaged my furnitureI would never use them again or recommend them. IT WAS A MOVE FROM HELL.

Unprofessional.

This is meant to be a warning.

We recently contacted these folks to help us move out of Toronto, due to my sister having a positive experience employing them in the past. We had the majority of our things packed in boxes, ready to be brought down to their truck, as to lessen the stress on everyone involved. Upon arriving late, things got going smoothly.

We had asked them to pay special attention to our new bed frame's headboard, as it was our first purchase as a couple together, and held a fair amount of emotional value. We noticed it propped up on the wall in the lobby as we were leaving, no protection used.

When they arrived at the new address, things started to go downhill immediately.

The grumpier of the two movers upon seeing our stairs to the first floor, was visibly and vocally shocked and frustrated. I work in the trades as a plumber, I know how to provide a confident and carefree experience to a client. I don't show up to a bathroom and immediately utter "ugh, there's a toilet? here we go" when I have been informed beforehand that I was there to work on a toilet.

The move continued, there was a minor disagreement about them having to bring things to our second floor spare bedroom, we conceded and allowed them to simply put them in the first floor living room. Our frustration with their unprofessionalism growing.

We then noticed a piece of our furniture had its door bashed in. We asked them about this and they proceeded to deflect and say there is no way that was them, instead of simply apologizing, like a professional. You can see a theme here. This conversation then blew up, with one of the movers storming out, and the other calling us "slave drivers" among other things, claiming that we were taking advantage of them as Canadian citizens.

At this point I began helping them move boxes from their truck, because I wanted the job finished, and them to leave, as fast as possible.

During this time, they then asked us to pay our bill, attempting to wash their hands of their professional responsibility as quickly as possible. We were given an initial amount, we asked him to clarify the charges, he returned with a larger amount, this process continued. We then attempted to call the "companies" management line, and was told to call back Monday. All while the movers were holding the rest of our items hostage in their truck with the doors closed and the engine running. It all felt a bit predatory, as if they were strong arming us into paying an incorrect bill under the duress brought upon by an already stressful day. After speaking with his manager, the mover returned with a third amount, this time even more than before.

At this point we wanted this nightmare experience to be over. We paid the overcharge. Hoping to resolve the confusion with the companies management.

After a week of correspondence with management, no apology was given.

During this time we noticed a troubling trend on their google reviews, of them responding to negative reviews with an incredibly vile tone, deflecting all blame and throwing insults at the customer like it was entirely their fault.

To no surprise, we then received a final email littered with lies and insults, stating that our furniture "could be taken straight to the dump" and that their movers first reaction to seeing everything packed up for them nice and neatly, was to refuse the job.

While they did compensate us for the overcharge at the end of the day, the customer service we received was utterly unprofessional.

I fully expect them to respond to this review attempting to refute my claims, as they have a pattern to do.

I am a busy person, I don't jump to writing a 4000 character negative review lightly. In fact, this is my first negative review of any service I have used. This was a truly unprofessional experience, to the point where I felt compelled to warn future customers.

Maybe they were having a bad day, but that does not excuse the truth of the situation.

Carefree moving

I had to move after 25 years at one home. I was very worried about how I would do this on my own. I had to use this company for two days. Each time , driver arrived exactly on time. Professional and very courteous. To arrange everything was so easy. They made my move very stressless. I would recommend this company with no hesitation. A+

Best Movers I've Ever used.

Having had two nightmare moving experiences in the past, I never thought I’d actually be recommending a moving company.  Carefree moving however deserves all the praise I can give them.

The movers showed up right on time. The truck they used was large, clean and they brought a full complement of moving equipment.

The movers themselves were friendly, polite, careful and considerate. They asked questions to get things right and most of all, THESE WERE SOME OF THE MOST HARD-WORKING PEOPLE I’VE EVER SEEN. They didn’t miss a beat and had to be encouraged to take a break.

All this for a reasonable price. This is how a moving company should operate.

I have no hesitation in recommending Carefree Moving.
