Long-distance move from Mechanicsburg, PA to Miami, FL

Scam- Run away fast!

I contacted Allegiance Moving and Storage in March 2021 when I accepted a job in Miami. I needed to move a three bedroom house from PA to Miami later that year in June. I received three quotes from different companies; however, AMS claimed to cater to military moves and veterans. They gave me a veterans discount. My estimated move cost as just under $10,000. I thought I was all set. As the date grew closer, I had a difficult time contacting the company and the sales rep (John Capella) would not return my emails or calls. About a week before the move I called to set up storage and they told me they couldn't guarantee my move would happen on the day I needed. When I mentioned cancelling the move they assured me that the move would happen and reminded me that I would lose 50% of my deposit. On move day, no one showed up and no one called, so I called them. They confirmed a mover for the next day. When the movers arrived, within five minutes, they said they needed to revise the estimate. Since we sold a lot of our furniture between the day we originally scheduled the move and move day, I actually expected the estimate to go down; however, it went up an additional $7,000. They then said that they would need $8,800 right then, when I was originally told to have a money order ready for $3,071. I called AMS and explained what was happening and they said, your contract says there could be a change. I said, ok, but $7,000??? They said I messed up my inventory; however, as I stated before, my inventory went down. They also said I was paying for a full-pack (meaning the movers were to pack everything and move it), the movers said, I only paid for boxes, but they could help me pack for an additional $3,000. I asked AMS for a refund of my deposit because nothing is as they said it would be, and they said, sorry, you are past your refund date. I refused service from the movers because 1) $17,000 is a lot different than the $10,000 I was quoted and 2) they stated that they would not know the exact amount until everything was on the truck and it could go up even more. I'm now out $3,600 (my deposit) and had to rent two uhauls, pack the house myself, and then load it all up and drive it to Miami (all within 24 hours). AMS gains business by lowballing the estimate, offering discounts, and then having the moving company raise the price at the last minute, but well after the cancellation period.

100% scam artists. All they care about is getting the contract and ensuring the client doesn't cancel so they can keep the deposit. I feel even worse for the people who don't have the means to move themselves at the last minute, like I did, and get stuck paying the higher price because they no other way.

Run away, my friends, run away....

Moving

If I could give this Company 0 stars or negative stars I would. They are great when booking, but then you pay the upfront deposit the service goes down hill from there. No one calls you back and the day or 2 days of your move no one shows up and they give you the run around for days. There is never a supervisor to help you either. If you are smart you will never use this Company. I will be using my in house council to get my refund back. Beware and stay away form these movers!!!

Long-distance move from Lawrence, KS to Statesboro, GA

We are still waiting on delivery after 50 plus days

#AL3805006

I am not one to write poor reviews on google as I like to give a company the time to apologize and right a mistake. However, we have been without our belongings since July 3rd, thanks to allegiance. So it has been over 50 something days without our belongings and over 30 business days. I am writing this to one be transparent with anyone who may consider using Allegiance to move (they are very good at promising and getting you to sign). So before I chronicle what has happened so far, I want Allegiance to know that we just want our stuff, an apology, and a good faith refund of some of the deposit (As that deposit was made for them to coordinate all our move so we didn’t have to worry). If they are able to complete what was contracted, I will be glad to update this review. If this drags out longer we will have no choice but to contact the FMCSA and our own contract lawyer to mediate as they claim to be a FMCSA reputable broker, and use FMCSA reputable movers. So below is our story, and if anyone would like more information, I have copies of the contracts and voice recordings of all phone calls made.

We contacted Allegiance to help with our move from Kansas to Georgia. My stuff was picked up on July 3 with a first scheduled delivery date of July 8th.

July 8-11-Told that it's in storage and they are scheduling the move (We called once that week-No no problem with this as it was stated to us.

July 12-18-Told it was still in storage trying to schedule the movers. (We called 2X that week

July 19-26- Told it was still in storage trying to schedule the movers. We asked what happened to the 5-14 days were told for the first time that they deal in business days and we could not recoup money until 30 business days. (Called Customer service every other day)

July 26-August 1-we were told that it was loaded over the weekend (24-25) and it would be delivered in 5-7 days. (We called every other day again). We were told that our stuff was in GA. Contacted the BBB.

August 2-August 8- Called every day asking where our stuff was. Finally got a response that its still in KS and will be another 3-10 business days.

August 9- August 15- Called every day asking where our stuff was. Finally, received a BBB response from the company on August 11 stating, “Thank you, Adam, I was able to locate your file now. We contacted your carrier regarding the delivery- he stated your items are due to arrive in 5-7 business days.”

August 16-August 22- Called everyday and were met with we are still in the 5-7 days. On Wednesday the 17th (day 4 of 7 business days), we were contacted by their movers that the delivery was en route and they would call in 1-2 business days with a delivery date. We were excited that it may finally be over. Additionally, we received this message on the BBB, “ You spoke with our customer service on 8/17/2021. She made you aware that your items are loaded and en route to you. Your driver will call you direct 24 hours prior to arriving. Thank you!.b

August 23rd-August 29th- This is day 3 that the movers said they would call but they did not. On the 23rd we called allegiance and they stated the movers said it would be an additional 5-7 days. This is day 8 of the original 5 to 7 business days. We asked for the mover's number and called their customer service number. We called and we were met with an incredibly rude customer service agent who stated the stuff was still in the storage unit in Kansas City. We called today on Day 9 of the original 5 to 7 days and Day 2 of the second 5 to 7 days.

I repeat this review is meant to be transparent to any and all that want to use the Allegiance Service. I would love to update this that our stuff is back in one piece and attribute this terrible two months to a labor shortage. So please, Allegiance, get your FMCSA “reputable” movers to move my stuff and end this.

Edit 1: Spoke to Customer service today (Aug 26) stated that the truck would not be loaded until next week Allegiance needs to do their job, take responsibility and get it delivered.

Long-distance move from Cumming, GA to Fort Lauderdale, FL

BAIT AND SWITCH!

TOTAL BAIT AND SWITCH OPERATION! DON'T DO IT!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! IF I COULD GIVE A ZERO RATING, I WOULD!

In the beginning, the sales rep (Trae - AKA Mike) gave excellent customer service and seemed very interested in my tight move date and the importance that I needed to be packed and loaded by Thursday, 8/26/21. He confirmed that would not be a problem, and we moved forward to contract my move. I never knew they were enlisting a "third party" (Safe Moving, LLC - safe moving - LOL) to perform the actual pack and load/move! After I put down my initial deposit for the movement, I was immediately "ghosted"!

After numerous calls to Trae and that awful woman in "customer service" to confirm the packers/loaders" arrival time on Thursday, 8/26/21, I was FINALLY informed that the packers/loaders would not be at my house until Friday, 8/27/21, between 9a - 12p. I was pissed, but it is what it is!

Friday comes, and I get a call at 9:30 am from Safe Moving, LLC (as Allegiance is no longer corresponding with me) informing me that they will not be at my house to perform said pack/move until 4:00 pm. They finally arrive at 4:20 pm (in an unmarked truck - clearly not a reputable company). I greeted the "foreman" of the project at the front door. He immediately informed me that he and his crew had just driven 19 hours straight with no sleep, were going to need more money ( to the tune of 3k-5k more) because Allegiance Moving and Storage (the broker) had misquoted them the volume of the move! After a long debate with these random middle eastern gentlemen (that smelled like the mass unwashed!), I asked them to LEAVE my house!

I have made many long-distance moves over the past 20 years, and my experience with Allegiance moving and storage is BY FAR THE WORST from them stealing my money to the end!

Long-distance move from Glendale, AZ to Melbourne, FL

Allegiance: unhelpful, evasive, and at times hostile

I am not a customer, but called Allegiance 21 times to help my parents (exact number from my call history). They hired Allegiance to help them move from AZ to FL. I received one and only callback during that time Oct18th from Monica, who then proceeded to berate me for the second time that day. Due to the character limit, I can’t get in every detail, so there is some information missing.

Allegiance hired Royal Star. Royal Star charged $22,000 more than the original bid bringing total to $40,000. Allegiance blamed my mom. The original bid from Allegiance was for 2647 cubic feet ($18,000). The amount charged was 4300 cubic feet ($40,000). Actual cubic feet was less than 3500 cubic feet based on the size of the delivery truck. Royal Star also included several bogus fees including labor, shuttle, fake taxes, storage, and "bulk." Allegiance said there was nothing they could do. Federal regulations state the broker has to provide a list of potential carriers (which we did not know about initially) and which Allegiance did not do. They have a locked list of carriers on their website which a customer can access if the customer requests the information. I have still not seen this list, and Allegiance has refused to provide it retroactively. This is incredibly evasive.

A few days after Royal star showed up to move, they received an Out-of-Service order from FMCSA. On BBB they have a history of unethical practices. Allegiance said, "we've never had problems before." However, they also informed me within a few days after pickup that they were no longer using Royal Star. Since Royal Star had already taken $27,000 and driven off with my family's stuff this obviously did little to console me.

August: Royal Star said delivery truck was in CO and would arrive 4-10 business days from Aug 31. September: said truck was in FL and would arrive Sep 11 at 5pm. Sep 11 said "tomorrow." Refused to give me driver’s number. Then I was told the truck broke down in AL or LA. Hung up on me. No one answered my calls for a month. Allegiance could not get ahold of Royal Star. Week of Oct 11 my mother was told by Royal Star the truck was in AZ. Royal Star did not answer calls and hung up repeatedly. I got very little help from Allegiance after calling almost every day that week. On Oct 15 I was told by Joann at Allegiance via email that the delivery would be Oct 18. I asked for the location of the truck. Allegiance refused. I asked for the license plate number. Refused. I asked for the driver's phone. Refused.

By Oct 18th Allegiance customer service became hostile and aggressive over the phone. I asked Joann via email for driver's number. Refused. Eventually, Avi (Royal Star) texted my mom Oct 18 that delivery would be Oct 19 at 7am. He refused to give the driver's phone number. He claimed the driver only spoke Spanish. I told him I speak Spanish. He did not respond to texts or calls after that. Oct 19 the delivery truck arrived. I remained on the phone with my mom. I heard my family being threatened by Avi (Royal Star). This was not his first time doing so. I am baffled as to how Allegiance could have ever trusted Royal Star as one of their carriers. I am furious that even now they continue to defend Royal Star.

Emotional Distress: I had multiple panic attacks immediately following my conversations with the customer service representatives at Allegiance. This can be confirmed by my health care providers. I feel this is relevant and important to report because I was treated with hostility. In addition, my mother had shingles aggravated by stress.

Financial Compensation: I have repeatedly requested a refund of the broker fee, from Allegiance. They offered $200 if the customer agreed to sign a document that accepted this refund as "full satisfaction." This $200 refund is less than 4% of the broker fee they collected before the movers ever even arrived. Unsurprising, we have refused this offer. I do not feel this is resolved. Additionally, we will be filing claims with Royal Star for fraudulent charges, late delivery, and any damages we find.

Long-distance move from Canoga Park, CA to Schertz, TX

Liars and Thief's of the worst kind!!!!

Here is how the con worked in my case. My house was packed and in a storage unit. They indicated that the price is based on the square footage. Since my stuff was in storage, this is an easy calculation. We calculated my price based on my storage space being 100% full when in fact it was less than 75% full. I paid a large deposit and scheduled. They waited until days before the pick-up and called me to request an inventory of the storage space. No problem. I start to list the items in the space. While I was still listing items they interrupted me and said it would be almost $2000.00 more than the contracted amount. Clearly they intended to do this regardless of the items on my list. They demanded a new contract, additional deposit and further demanded that all remaining payments be in CASH!!! They said I could use a Post Office money order which is the same as cash. They had me by the short hairs and they knew it. I had already moved out of state and was living in a hotel. They had almost $3000.00 of my money that I had no delusions of getting back. Under duress I capitulated to their extortion plot and paid the thugs.

Before they quit taking my calls, I caught them in several lies. I once politely pointed out one of their statements that their coworker exposed as a lie and asked that they please be straight with me moving forward. They responded by shouting me down. I did my best to deescalate the situation and was super polite and friendly as they had the upper hand.

Once they had all my worldly possessions, all bets were off. They maintained a hostile posture and refused to take my calls, return my emails, or provide me any information, like, when my stuff would arrive. I couldn't have been nicer. (I had no choice) I just wanted to know how long to reserve my hotel. Too bad for me. They would leave me on hold for 45 minutes at a time then hang up. They quit answering emails.

I was given 24 hours' notice by the carrier that they were coming. The truck finally showed up 3 weeks later missing my expensive portable generator and damage to my furniture. I'm sure they generator was no accident. People love to steal those portable generators. I filed a claim but without additional insurance I get .60 per pound.

In closing, these motherless thugs are not to be trusted with your move. Run, do not walk away from these guys. They will quote you an enticing price but in the end you will pay at minimum market rate and suffer their service. There are no mistakes. They are calculating and know exactly what they are doing.

DO NOT USE THEM EVER FOR ANYTHING!

THEY HAVE MADE THIS EXPERIENCE A NIGHTMARE.

literally the worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. It took them 3 days to move us out of a 2 bedroom apartment not because it took that long but because they barely worked, did not wrap anything, did not dissemble the furniture even though that was part of the contract. We got a partial delivery of about 10% of our items, almost every piece of furniture was damaged because it was not properly wrapped. We still have not gotten most of our belongings and it has been over 2 months. Every time I call and complain and try to get answers at best they say not their problem at the worst they yell at me and hang up. Now they tell us they don't know if we will ever get our stuff and it is completely up to us to take legal actions. This move cost $13,000 and it was been absolutely horrific.

BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING WITH ALLEGIANCE PLEASE MESSAGE ME, IF I CAN SAVE ONE PERSON FROM THIS NIGHTMARE IT WILL BE WORTH IT.

Thanks for getting me such an amazing group of guys!

I initially booked with a company who had great ratings but the customer service was horrendous. So I was able to cancel and get my money back. My sister had just recently moved with a company by the name of Allegiance Moving. So I decided to give them a try. The moving company they chose for me moved me from my 3 bedroom home to another in record time! They always had a good attitude even though the humidity was crazy that day.

My husband and I have lived all over the world! But this move to Hawaii has given us a run for our money literally. 3 moving companies in and I was about to give up. Until I found Allegiance. The movers they chose arrived on time and got right to work. They got all of our bigger pieces out without any damage to it or the freshly painted walls. Once the truck was packed we received copies of our paperwork and were given a delivery eta. We really do thank you guys for the outstanding job you did.

Long-distance move from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA

Totally a fraud! AVOID!!!

This company is totally a fraud. Everything said in the negative reviews is true and the good ones were probably paid or falsified. My recent move was completely a nightmare:

I booked a move from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA through Allegiance Moving and Storage (DOT # 3183105, MC # 128059). They never told me they were merely a broker, not really a moving company. They quoted me $2,599 for the list of items I provided and charged me $961.99 deposit. A few days after I paid the deposit, they told me the price would be increased to $3,098 due to COVID and increased gas price and made me sign another estimate. On the day of the move, two movers showed up with a small U-Haul. They barely spoke any English. They took a look at my apartment and then a woman called me on the phone saying that the price would be increased to $4,576.79. They forced me to pay $1,782.40 in cash, otherwise they wouldn't pick up my stuff. I grew very suspicious at this point and made a bank transfer with Zelle in order to keep some proofs of payment. Upon delivery on the next day, they demanded another $280 in cash claiming the parking spot was too far away from the elevator. Again, they said they wouldn't unload my stuff if I didn't pay immediately. In total I paid $4,741.79 for a 170-mile move for a one-bedroom apartment, 180% of the original price Allegiance quoted. The movers didn't even provide all the boxes. I had to buy 10 large boxes myself and packed 6 by myself. They also didn't provide the 3 wardrobe boxes I ordered. All my fine clothes were jammed into a large box I bought. My original list of items never increased. I even got rid of 1/3 of my furniture since they kept jacking up the prices. I did the same move from Seattle to Portland in 2018 for $2500. I just found out the company who did the move was United Movers Transportation, Tacoma (USDOT # 3143785).

They are excellent

By far the best move I have ever had. And I can say that because I have moved 15x. It started with a phone call to schedule an assessment. He wanted to do a video call to go through inventory. I'm 65 years old and I don't have A smartphone. I gave him what I thought iI had to the best of my knowledge. I was able to schedule a walk through for someone to come over to my home and count inventory and see how much packing materials I needed. No one else offered that besides Allegiance. He came out to my home and was very polite. He provided allegiance with his findings and they were able to price match. The move day came and it could not have gone any better! The foreman Rob and his crew was amazing. They moved everything quickly and were extremely careful. When my delivery came I had no damage done to my items or my new home. Overall my experience was great. I am hoping I wont have to move again but if I do I know who to call.

Allegiance Moving and Storage went above and beyond!

I called around getting quotes for days and just couldn't find the right service for the right price. I called allegiance and immediately I knew I called the right place. My moving coordinator price matched my quote from another company and saved me $1000. I was able to reach them at all times if I had any questions. The day of the move was a breez. They arrived on time, did a complete walk through and inventory and explained the process thoroughly. I would definitely recommend Allegiance to anyone moving long distance.

Reliable Movers!

The booking process was super easy. We made sure to plan in advance and we were able to select what dates worked best for us. We had to reserve an elevator for our condo and had specific time frames we were allowed to move in or move out. Allegiance made sure to accommodate and even showed up 10 minutes early to greet us.We appreciated the movers were on time. They had smiles on their faces and brought all the tools necessary to disassemble all of my Ikea furniture. They were also kind enough to place all of the hardware together and tape it to each item to be sure they were able to resemble my new place. I moved from a large 2 bedroom condo in 3 hours. I will be recommending you to everyone I know.

Absolute worst company and professionalism

This company was the ABSOLUTE WORST DECISION we made when moving. My husband and I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida and originally were quoted around $5000 for 30-40 boxes and miscellaneous furniture. The week before we moved, we called the broker and spent an hour on the phone discussing our furniture and the amount of boxes in detail. On the phone, we told the broker that we had 90 ish boxes and all of our furniture, Including a lot of weight plates, dumbbells, many pieces of a Love sac couch, and more. The guy assured us that even though the weights were listed as ONE ITEM (small weights) and the Love sac couch was listed as ONE ITEM (11 pieces) that it would not affect the movers list. We even paid an addition $1700 immediately after this call and then we were told we would definitely only owe $1900 for pick up and $1900 for delivery. Well the movers got to our house and told us we had many more items than they were expecting and we owed $3900 for pickup and $3900 for delivery. OUR MOVING COST DOUBLED UNEXPECTEDLY and we had to run out and drain our bank account just to pay for pick up. When we called allegiance back they kept pushing the blame to the moving company and they did not offer anything to cover any of the compensation that they GROSSLY underestimated. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Allegiance's team was highly professional

I stressed to them that I had very fragile items from my great grandmother and I needed extra care when packing and transporting these. They pointed me in the right direction to a 3rd party insurance company to purchase extra protection. They also were kind enough to add extra packing to ensure they were taken good care of. When the movers arrived I explained how important these items are and they treated every single item of mine with the utmost care. I got my belongings safe and sound. It was a very pleasant experience working with them I won't hesitate to recommend.

5 stars !

Our new home closing came through sooner than expected and we were stuck! We didn't have movers scheduled yet and we were freaking out. With having to do such a short notice move I was relieved to find Allegiance. They were able to pick us up in just 2 days which is what we needed as closing was the following day. We didn't have anything packed yet because this news came out of nowhere. So we didn't mind paying for them to come and pack everything it was very fairly priced as well which is a plus. Our 3 bed 2 bath home almost filled the entire 26 ft truck we still needed to pick up a few more items from a storage locker on the way. They moved the truck around some and was able to finish loading our storage unit. The movers we got knew what they were doing im very happy they came with 4 men made things go a lot faster. The move was a breeze and we were setup at our new place by the weekend.

Greatly appreciated guys!

I feel like the weight of the world was lifted after speaking to Allegiance. I was having trouble finding a decent priced quote for my long distance move to Hawaii. After speaking with my move coordinator John I felt like I knew him my whole life. He was really personable and helpful. He was always available to speak with when I had any questions or concerns. I think I called him and customer service about 50x. I would call frantic with questions but after speaking to them I could breathe again. They did thorough research and background checks on the company they had schedule to move us. When the movers arrived we were blown away by the service they provided in and out with no issues.

Increase after increase after increase in price

Would not use them again, the initial estimated price seems like a borderline scam to get you to commit. The end price more than doubled even after removing furniture included in the first estimate. Every call it keeps going up and as you are asked to pay parts of the price continuously it's difficult to back out.

No complaints about the actual movers though, they did a good job.

Long-distance move from Vernon, CO to Lawrenceburg, KY

Bravo Allegiance!

I was worried at first hiring someone to hire someone. But it made my life less stressful. I spoke to Jeff initially to set up my move he gave us the best quote around even price matched with a top ranked company in the nation. The movers they ended up selecting were Barahonas Moving. The team that came to move us was the best group of movers we have ever worked with. We were so appreciative that they kept us updated along the way to our delivery. NO damages at all! You rock guys!
