Long-distance move from Wilmington, NC to Las Cruces, NM

Awful Experience

Our move with Zippy Shell has been unprofessional, misleading, and frustrating every step of the way. We initially scheduled our shell and were confirmed for one date and told that our shell would arrive in 10-14 days at our new home. This date was rescheduled for two days later on short notice (thank goodness we had built in some days to clean and didn't have to be out on the initial date). We then learned that despite being quoted '10-14 days' verbally on initial consultation, that they actually meant 10-14 BUSINESS days and that there was no way to expedite the arrival of our belongings.

We therefore arrived at our new home with a baby and two dogs without any belongings for TWO WEEKS. We then learned that the 'destination' that is listed in the contract (our home address) is not what they actually deliver to in 10-14 business days but that once the shell arrives at the storage center (which isnt even in our state) it then may take up to 5 days to get it delivered to our address, and if we want to rent a truck and get our belongings ourselves, it will still take at least 48 hours after it arrives for our stuff to be available.

And after multiple phone calls we are on business day 14 and they are telling us that our shell hasn't even left the initial storage facility (2000 miles away) yet and they are unable to tell us when it will be here.

They have not offered us any refunds for the inconvenience and have not apologized or acted remorseful in any way. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Long-distance move from Crockett, TX to Atlanta, MO

Bait and Switch. Don't fall for it!!!

To be honest, they were the only ones that we found who would bring a storage container to where we lived. We were selling our house and wanted to get most of our belongings out, so this seemed like the best plan. We had the initial call and listed off everything in our house that we needed to move and they assured us that it would all fit in one pod. So we set everything up we rushed to pack up most of our belongings and then the day of arrival, they kept saying they were on their way, it kept getting later and later. Darker and darker out. Finally they showed up super late, moved everything out and I'm looking at the truck that's already filled up and thinking, I dont think the rest will fit in there. But we figured they were unloading it into a different storage crate or something. They know what they are doing. Anyway, skip forward a few months of having our stuff in storage and they are scheduled to come pick up the rest. Then two days before, we get a call saying, hey the rest of your stuff isn't going to fit in here. You are going to need get another pod. So we call and they say, 3k more for that one. Which we hadn't budgeted or planned for because they said it would all fit. But we need the rest of our stuff, so what are we going to do? We book the second one, of course. They come and load it up, on time. They even securely wrapped all our appliances up. We were actually really impressed with that part (and the storage aspect was super great) but otherwise they are severely lacking. Now we have moved and they said it could be 3 weeks before the pods get to the facility and then the place will call us to arrange delivery. There's a tracking option on the website but you need an order number which we didn't have, so we had to call in every time to check where our belongings are. The first time we called, they said the estimated arrival was early last week, which was clearly incorrect. Then we received a text saying our belongings were in transit to the destination warehouse. Which sounded like it just left and was incredibly scary. We called and they said it was almost here. Then today when we called they said they couldn't get ahold of dispatch, which sounds scary. Then all the sudden, they tried charging us 5,144.83 out of our account. Which of course didn't work because we were told we had 4,500 left to pay. So we had that moved from savings and our limit on our bank account raised to that amount. But now they want over 600 more than that amount for some reason. My husband sat on hold for 2 hours today. TWO HOURS on hold just to get them to not charge us EXTRA money over the amount THEY told us. And then said they would look into it and call us back tomorrow. I just want my stuff. I miss my bed, my fridge, my table. It should not be this much work and extra money to get it here. So here's hoping it comes between Wednesday and Friday like they said it would. Guess I maybe should have waited to review until it actually made it here, but I'm just so frustrated to keep having more and more charges added to our original quote. Plus waiting and not having our belongings is really frustrating. Eating out everyday (no dishes, pans, fridge, etc) is really expensive. I just kind of wish we had rented a truck and drove it. It's less convenient, but at least we wouldn't be camping out on air mattresses in our new house and eating take out for 3 weeks straight. Oh and we would have at least 6k more dollars.

Update: Now they cannot tell us when all our belongings will be delivered. They sure took our money quickly though, even the 600 extra. They said they would look into it but instead just tried to charge us again the next morning. So we've now paid the full amount and are just waiting, hoping to see our stuff sometime in the near future. We have called and called and called, each time waiting on hold for 45 minutes to 2 hours. Just to see when we could get OUR stuff. We were told they can't contact the team directly, but they would make a note in our ticket. Which they have done several times to no avail. Still no call about when they are coming. We were told 24 hours for one team to pass it on. Then we called again and it was 48 hours to go to another team. Now we are way past all that time and still nothing. We were also told in the beginning it would be Wednesday to Friday at the LATEST. Well guess what tomorrow is. Friday and still no word. I highly doubt it's coming. We've probably just lost all our belongings and paid over 6k for them to just take it. Who even knows at this point.

Also, reading through all these other reviews, we've realized they do the bait and switch. They bait you with a super low price and promise all your stuff will fit, but then switch it on you and charge you for more when it doesn't fit. They may seem cheaper than their competitors, but it's only an illusion.

Update: And now three weeks later are still trying to charge us for storage!!

No show no call

Zippy Shell was scheduled to arrive between 8 am and noon with movers to load. No show and no call. We called 12 times that day and each time talked to a different person. The last person said she would get back to us by 8 pm with answers. No call. Called the next day because received a rescheduled date by email and text. No personal contact and that date was unacceptable. The next day talked with a manager and canceled. Because we have to get a parking permit in the city, it creates lots of extra expenses and time. Now to find another mover with better reviews!

Zero stars

A one star review would be far too much credit to this company.

They have had our pod for over a month when we were told that we were to have our pod in 6-8 business days.

First it took our stuff almost 2 weeks to even get to Oregon from Oakland. They never gave us any update. We had to call over and over again with no communication as to when our stuff would even arrive in Oregon.

When it finally arrived in Oregon they scheduled our delivery date 10 days out. So at this point we are 3 weeks past.

The day of the delivery came and no time window so we called. They said we were scheduled on the route but anywhere between 8am-8pm. We had taken this day off work as well as the following to be able to move our stuff. No call, no communication whatsoever.

The next day we call they tell us it wont be here till the next day. Again same story, we call in the morning to get a time frame. Nothing. So this is the second scheduled delivery that never happened with no communcation.

I have had it trying to communicate with these people. I work in customer service and this is just trash. Nathan who is a supervisor has no communication skills or empathy to what this company is putting us through.

We are supposed to have friends in town to check out our new space and stay with us. Now will be having to potentially shell out money to stay in a hotel.

DO NOT WORK WITH ZIPPY SHELL.

We are ready to get a lawyer involved and have already contacted the Better Business Bureau to get help.

Returning costumer never returning again!

We have used zippy shell 3 times now and this past time has been a complete disaster. We booked them 2 months in advance and 2 days before the movers were to come they call and say they aren't available. They also have such loose control of their inventory, they didn't even know our shell arrived at their warehouse until I called demanding answers 8 days later. Even then it took 24 hours and 4 separate employees to find out they'd screwed up. Now they are fully paid and will not work with us to make up for their error. This is just the cherry on top of a disaster cake with them. We returned as customers because our other 2 moves were relatively good, but our research shows they have since sold to 1-800-PACK RAT and they are a terrible company now. You've been warned.

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible experience. Heads up if you have 2 deliveries there is a redelivery charge of 300 dollars that they never tell you about until a few days before your pod is supposed to be delivered. Customer service completely unhelpful unwilling or unable to reimburse you for any of these inconveniences and miscommunications. If they break an item which they did break my television it is 60 to 90 days for a reimbursement. They say a manager will call you back you will be waiting days for that call regardless of the timeline they gave you. Never will use this service again so unorganized and unhelpful.

Worse pod moving company in the world

I have been a consumer for 50 years in America. I have never seen a company that lacks from top to bottom any form of control or communication as poorly as this outfit. Do yourself a favor. Never deal with these guys. Zippyshell and pack rat are absolutely incompetent and provide nothing in the way of customer service. They cannot figure out if they are delivering an empty pod or picking up a full one it is so bad I could go on and on but our experience with them and their delays are unconscionable. Avoid this company. Their call center in North Carolina literally is full of people that don't know what day of the week it is. It is that bad. I would give them a negative review if the stars above allowed it. Good luck!

Damaged Furniture Claim

This review may change in more of a positive light if my issues with Zippy Shell ultimately get resolved. I did an out of state move with Zippy shell from Texas to Kentucky this fall. Six pods total. Two of the pods I loaded myself. I paid for loading services on the other 4 pods because it involved moving the more heavier furniture that I could not do myself. Because Zippy shell doesn't have a physical presents in Texas, they contract with 1-800 Packrat. 1-800 Packrat farms out the moving services to 3rd party moving companies. That said, the 3rd party moving company that was chosen for me was terrible. They did not come with simple moving items like moving blankets. Luckily I had a bunch saved from my previous move. They were not careful with the moving and loading of most of my future which resulted in thousands of dollars worth of damage (including damaged hardwood floors) for which I have a claim filed with Zippy shell. They showed up with a pod late in the day one day and said they could only load for 20 minutes because they had to get the pod back to the warehouse by 5 PM. That resulted in a pod that was only 1/3 loaded for which I had to pay full price of course. I will say that the unloading of the pods in Kentucky went very smooth and the difference was that it was done by Zippy Shell employees who took great care as apposed to a farmed out 3rd party mover. Adding insult to injury for the damaged furniture was the fact that over a month after I paid the final bill and had my 6 pods delivered, they charged my debit card out of the blue for an additional $4270. When I called Zippy Shell to get an explanation all they could say was it must have been a billing adjustment. At this point I have disputed all charges made by Zippy Shell with my bank because A.) I did not receive the services that I paid for (I.E. my furniture being delivered undamaged) and B.) I was charged $4270 30+ days after paying the final bill and Zippy Shell couldn't explain why. All of this said, I base my opinion of a company on not only how they perform, but how well they resolve issues. I am hopeful that Zippy Shell will do what is right to resolve my issues in which case I will be more than happy to update this review. We are 60+ days into my claim and Zippy Shell states that they have 90 days to process claims. I will report back in the next 30 days.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Illinois

If I could give negative stars I would

I hired zippy shell to pack two shells for me as they suggested to move me from Colorado to Illinois. It was two shells for $5000. They were to pack me on November 22. They came with two shells and an independent packing company not zippy shell. The guys are very nice and packed the two shells and said there’s no way they were packing everything into 2 shells so we had to get another one and they did. They came back the next day and packed that shell and then they said we have to get another shell because we don’t have enough room so then they got a fourth shell. Meanwhile my conversations with the office was jacking the price up more than double my original bill. I was buying a house I had to be at closing and I told him that I did not agree with their rationale but I didn’t have much of a choice. In my contract it said they were going to deliver within 6 to 10 days of packing my belongings. It is now January 14. Zippy shell has lied to me numerous times about where my belongings actually are I’ve been told that they have been delivered to a warehouse in Illinois and that is actually not true I have been told that three of them have been delivered to a warehouse in Illinois and that is actually has not been true the first two times they said it my fourth shell has been in flux for over a month I was told it was going to be delivered to the warehouse on December 21 when I called on December 21 I found out that it was still in Denver. They lie. They lie constantly. They now want me to pay thousands of dollars just to get into my shells so I can get a truck and other movers to move my things into my house they won’t do it unless I pay them thousands of dollars. They’re the worst company in the world. They have lied and told me there was a truckers strike in Denver and there was no truckers strike. They have gone into my bank account without my approval or my knowledge and taken money out. I reported them to the US DOT for Deceptive practices. I am going to talk to the CO and IL attorney generals office. I have hired a lawyer. I have a fused spine and I’ve been sleeping on an air mattress since December 1 and I can barely walk. I have a son with autism who is having meltdowns every single day because he does not have his belongings. But these people don’t care. They really don’t care. They should be put out of business .

If you want to read more negative reviews on zippy shell go to a website called Trust pilot you will not believe what people have written that they’ve done to them. In their reviews they have broken their furniture and belongings. I pray that they have not done that to mine. Go see for yourself. I wish I had never heard of this company. The information to report zippy shell to the US DOT is in the trustpilot website. I would highly recommend that everyone who has had a negative experience with this company to file a complaint against them and contact your states attorneys office and the Better Business Bureau. Even if you have resolved your issues it would be helpful for you to do this to stop them from being able to do this to others.

Zippy Shell Move Summer 2021 OR to MM. One pod 2 bdrm apt

Pros: The subcontracted packers and unpackers arr. by Zippy Shell were professional and efficient once they showed up. All of our stuff was delivered intact wout damage. No unexpected charges and price was fair. Customer service people were very nice (when you could get them) even though they could not address delivery or scheduling problems. Cons: The logistics were a mess. Loading was delayed by 2 days with only 3 hour notice. Unloading was 10 days late with no delivery time given. We had to try to figure it out each day. The customer service people had no way of figuring out where and when movers would show up. Managers/Supervisor could find out where pod was and if there was 'MAYBE' a scheduled drop off IF you get a manager. Hours on hold every day to customer service even though they knew we had a problem. I realize this was in the middle of the COVID craziness but they never knew what was happening and never were proactive in communicating with us. On the actual delivery day movers were 5 hours late because the wharehouse loaded the wrong pod on the truck and had to call movers back and start over! Great idea but really need to figure out better coordination between delivery people, wharehouse and customer service. Won't use again.

They do NOT cover damage even with insurance

Be VERY careful when considering this company. They do NOT cover damage to personal items caused by their careless loading or unloading. We purchased their Content Protection Plan and upgraded it to cover up to $50,000 in damages per container. The cost of this insurance was $119.85 per container. A few of our furniture items were severely damaged due to poor wrapping and one priceless antique was damaged beyond repair due to loading heavy objects on top. We claimed $4900 in total damages and provided detailed photos of the damages, descriptions, and original cost for each item. One item was an original Stickley credenza that had nearly all the stain scratched off on the front bottom panel. Another item was a custom made dining room table that had deep scratches on the metal base because the loaders didn’t wrap the base.

The Claims Department offered us a $175 settlement! Below is the response that we received from the Claims Department at Zippy Shell. Their insurance basically covers natural disasters and other disasters, and they take NO responsibility for the damage caused by their careless loading or unloading. Avoid this company at all costs because they don’t take responsibility for their carelessness, even with purchased insurance. The insurance is a complete rip-off and scam company and their $175 settlement offer is insulting and ridiculous given the amount of damage caused by their company.

CLAIMS DEPARTMENT RESPONSE (typos included):

The 1-800-Pack-Rat Zippy Shell claims procss has concluded, and we appreciate your patience regarding this matter. We apologize for the damages sustained to your property and would like to present an offer. Please be advised that the “actual cash value” or the most reasonable “replacement value” of an item is always taken into consideration by the 1-800-Pack-Rat claims team when arriving at an settlement offer. An “appearance allowance” is also offered when the damage has been determined to be cosmetic in nature, and no evidence has been submitted to support the property was broken or no longer in operable condition. Below you will find the amount offered for each item listed on your submitted claim form and an outline detailing the determination.

Again, avoid this company at all costs because your personal items will NOT be protected by their insurance, even if you purchase insurance from them and show proof of the damage.

Long Distance Move - Terrible customer service

My wife and I paid Zippy Shell for a long distance move from NJ to NC in May. The experience with the customer service team and management were all horrific to say the least. We were told on the phone by Dio that we would NOT be charged for a storage fee if we had our pods delivered within the first 30 days, our receipt says NO STORAGE – DELIVER ASAP and they still charged us $438 for storage of 2 pods on the day they loaded our things. When we called to ask them to reverse it and to check the voice recorded call, they gave us the run around again saying they didn’t hear anything on the call and that they couldn’t share the recording with us. It took 17 days from day of load to the day of delivery – 17 days not 30! Not over 30, not at 30 – nowhere even near 30.

Dio rushed my wife off the phone while we were planning the move saying if we didn’t book then and there that we would lose the special price and that he had to run to get his next Covid shot or he would be late. All in the same call that he said we would NOT be charged a storage fee. When asked about that conversation in the call, they said they didn’t hear that either. DID WE MAKE THAT UP TOO? When we asked for a manager – we didn’t a call back until 2 days later at 10pm at night. The “manager” was rude and hasty on the phone and said there is nothing he could do for us we “signed a contract”. The contract says nothing about being charged prior to 30 days and on the receipt it says NO STORAGE in clear English. Not only that, but they damaged our items!

We paid for the loading team and the team that loaded one of our pods loaded it incorrectly and we had multiple damage to expensive furniture. We supplied them with multiple moving blankets, tarps, towels, and cardboard as to not damage anything and they never used any of it. We also supplied them with bungee cords and ratchet straps which were never touched. Our fireplace was manhandled and not covered with the blankets supplied, our bedroom furniture is all scratched up, there is a rip and a giant oil stain on our couch – oil stain?! From where the pod that was above us? They loaded a metal spiked outdoor tool on top of my ironing board cover and ripped it to shreds. We paid an extra $1000 for them to load our things to have them break, scratch and dented? Our mattress was dirty and disgusting because they literally wrapped our pod in $.99 black wrap from the dollar store. Our pod wasn’t even wrapped correctly. I have photos of everything. I emailed a claim form to the claims department and never received an email saying they received the paperwork. What kind of customer service/experience is this?

The unloading team in NC were sweethearts – they were respectful, kind and unloaded very quickly. Our unloaders were the only good thing about Zippy Shell.

Services misrepresented and zero accountability

The container is not as advertised. The three bedroom cage that arrived could not come close to accommodating belongings from a 2 bedroom apartment. Movers left stuff behind everywhere. Now having to hire last minute movers to pick up remaining furniture (sofa, rug, tables, bookcase) - all standard items! Customer service has been entirely unhelpful. The reps are not empowered to even attempt to make it right. BUYER BEWARE.

Do not use

Communication is non-existant. There's no telling how much you'll actually have to pay because they'll just charge you whatever they want for the surcharge, which seems like thievery. When they return your pod, they don't give you a time so you can't plan to have anyone help you unload it. It's 10 pm and it's not here yet and despite 3 calls, there's no information to be given. Incredibly unhelpful with no effort to even try to get answers.

The Absolute WORST Experience

Zippy Shell has excellent sales reps that make you feel comfortable and cared for. As SOON as you sign the contract, all representatives become completely unreachable and unreliable. Our items were more than a week late being delivered to us with 0 communication about the delay. I reached out several times ahead of the move to confirm the delivery date with 0 responses. Not to mention that we rented a "two-bedroom unit" that barely fit enough furniture for a studio apartment.

It's been weeks and I still cannot get ahold of a representative to discuss my experience. They do not care.

WORST moving experience

WORST moving experience!! My girlfriend and I hired them for a long-distance move from PA to NY. The salesperson promised us that the shell will be delivered to our apartment and be unloaded from there, however, after they already charged us the second payment, they said they would have to do a “loose unload” where they unload the shell (while cutting open our lock that we put on the shell) and load it into a truck and then unload the truck again at our apartment. We hired Zippyshell to decrease the amount of unloads we do so our belongings do not break. Zippyshell gave us multiple excuses as to why they had to do the “loose unload” (which was not in the contract we signed) but they did not care. Also, we woke up at 7am to go to the warehouse in LI to unlock the shell for the movers. If that wasn’t frustrating enough, they took over a week to get us our COI correctly and delivered it on the morning of the move. And as a warning, the customer service department is absolutely useless and will tell you that they put an “urgent” request and still take time to get back to you. The company has been an absolute nightmare while moving and highly recommended that people look elsewhere for long-distance movers.

Delays, Delays, Delays

Used them for a move across the country. As others have noted, they are quite nice on the phone and the process to set everything up went very smoothly and the rep was very informative.

However, from that point there were delays at just about every point possible. I got a call 3 days before the container was to be dropped off saying they didn't have one for an extra 6 days - this would NOT work as I was moving, duh! Eventually they emailed me confirming the dropoff date, but then I didn't hear anything until I called them on that day and had to threaten them with cancellation to get any info from them and speak to someone who could actually help get the truck there - late in the day so I missed almost a full day of packing. Delay #1.

Then they called to let me know that the container pickup would be a week later than scheduled. Delay #2. Luckily the property I was moving from allowed me to keep the container there after I had left.

From that point I got no updates unless I called, which wasn't that much more helpful. They weren't able to tell me anything more than "it hasn't shipped yet and we have until X date." It sat in the first warehouse for almost 10 days before beginning the drive across the country. Delay #3. When they finally told me it left the East Coast and gave me a date (though I can't prove it, I'm pretty sure that they just told me it left the warehouse when it hadn't). I was informed that it was at the arrival warehouse, but then couldn't be delivered for another 7 days. Delay #4.

All in all, it arrived almost 2 weeks late, while I slept on the floor, had to purchase kitchenware just to cook and eat, etc. Yes, I planned to not have furniture, etc, for a week or two, not for over a month. An extra $400 was added to the original contract amount.

That being said, the drivers were very nice. The reps I spoke with were nice, though not really very helpful or able to get access to actual info on the status other than "not shipped yet" or listed contract dates.

I do not recommend. They were a bit cheaper than others but not worth the hassle, uncertainty, and delays.

Holding my items hostage

On 7/7/2022, I booked a zippy shell with the promise of it arriving to my driveway for loading and unloading for our cross country move. They were unable to drop it off which resulted in me having to rent a uhaul for $161.31 and gas for $50 to transport the items to their facility and load the items myself at the facility. I was not offered reimbursement for these costs. I was told then that it'd be okay once it gets out to Florida that when it arrives they'd call me. I did not receive a call on expected arrival day. On 8/5/2022, I called them asking where it was at and that's when I was told it arrived. I asked for drop off immediately as it's already running late. They tell me it will be an additional week possibly 2 weeks for drop off. This is resulting in us acquiring another uhaul for $89.50 and gas for $30 just to get our items. I then showed up after spending this and now they are refusing to give us our items. I am beyond livid. I need my stuff ASAP! I am seeking full reimbursement for truck rental, gas, and initial transaction due to services not being rendered as initially promised resulting in additional money and time spent. Along with my stuff being delivered ASAP to my address.

DO NOT USE!

This is one of the worst companies ever. I experienced issues from the beginning which should have been a red flag, but since they had an A- with the BBB I figured they were okay still.

Our first issue was that it took 3 days and multiple phone calls and emails to receive our moving agreement.

The next issue is that the drop-off was an awful experience. We never received our courtesy call and the driver was very rude to us.

The next issue was that our container had arrived at the warehouse on 7/22/22 but we were not informed of this until 7/27/22. When we called to get the delivery scheduled they told us they could not deliver until 8/16/22. However, during my call with the sales rep, he said that getting it delivered by the 4th should be no issue. I spoke with a customer service manager who said that they would call me back with an update, they never did. We did recieve a text saying that the delivery had actually been scheduled for the 8th. We called to confirm and they said that it was able to be scheduled and that they would include unloading service for free. Today, the day of the deliver comes, they were supposed to be here between 8 AM and 12 PM. 12:30 comes around and we still haven't even heard from them. I give them a call and I am put on a 10 minute hold. I was then informed that the crew cancelled the delivery because we are "outside of their service area." I spoke with the customer service manager and basically all they could do is offer a $100 credit to our account for the missed delivery. Since they were on the phone I asked what ever happened to the call about the previous missed delivery. Apparently they left us a voicemail (we didn't get a voicemail) and even though the sales rep was vague and ambiguous there was nothing they could do.

Save yourself the headache. Use a legitimate company not this joke.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC COMPANY - DO NOT USE

If there were a way to rate zero stars, I would. This is absolutely the most crooked, worthless, corrupt company i've ever done business with. Their "MOVERS" aka NOT movers didn't show up for my move and then when they did days later, they THREW all of my stuff into the pod and when I got it 99.9999% of my belongings were RUINED. DESTROYED. The offered mr $150 on a $5k move for the inconvenience. They have continued to charge me when they have NONE of my belongings and I have had to file fraud reports against them repeatedly. ABSOLUTELY UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE USE THIS COMPANY. You'd be smarter to sell everything you own than hire these people to "MOVE" aka destroy them. CAUTION DO NOT USE THIS ABSOLUTELY CORRUPT business. I don'y even know how they're still legally an entity. Literally horrendous customer services, experience and execution (if you can even say they do that). I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to use this company.

Long-distance move from Austin, TX to Richmond, VA

DID NOT RECEIVE MY CONTAINER

Went with Zippyshell due to cost for a long distance move, they were significantly (about 30%) cheaper than Pods. The sales rep I spoke to was incredibly respectful and helpful. The pick up process with smooth, they showed up to deliver the empty storage unit and picked up the packed storage unit without issue at our starting location. I was confident that after 2 months of storage that the delivery process would be just as smooth. I scheduled a delivery 2 weeks in advance. In fact I thought to myself I never write reviews and I was so impressed that I was going to write a review advocating the other reviews left were wrong and they had figured out the issues with customer service and logistics. I was unfortunately wrong. On the day the delivery was scheduled to our new home we hadn’t received a window of time for delivery and I was informed I would get a 1 hour notice before they showed up. I called again 3 hours later, and was told they had no update but had until 8pm to deliver the unit. I called again 2 hours later and was informed that they wouldn’t be able to make it today. They didn’t come, offered no explanation as to why and did not tell us until the last possible moment which took 3 phone calls initiated by myself. I waited all day reserving a spot for the unit on our street and scheduled vendors that had to be rescheduled. Our move was posted a week without notice, we had to incur additional living expenses and vendor reschedule fees we weren’t prepared to cover for an entire week. When asked what compensation would be provided they informed us, we would not be able to discuss this until after we received the unit. After a week on the scheduled delivery day we called customer service asking for an ETA, I waited 30 minutes on hold, no one answered. When I was able to get someone on the phone I was informed that according to their system they were on schedule but no one at the delivery center was answering. The same things we heard the previous weekend. Eventually after they missed the delivery window, again

I finally got a supervisor on the phone who quoted me the same information but this time she was going to call the manager at the storage facility. After endless back and forth it finally comes out that the forklift has been broken and they were not able to make the delivery AGAIN. They knew this and allowed me to schedule a move twice to not show up. I was then called by a “Senior Resolution Specialist” who informed me I wouldn’t be getting the refund I was requesting and they did not have information about when I would get my items. We filed a complaint with the BBB. Where was the breakdown in communication? Why wasn’t the facility able to get another forklift to offset all the cost of business they would lose for weeks of not having one operational? Why did it take me initiating this communication for the customer service facility to be aware of this issue? Why was I able to schedule a delivery if they knew? The customer service representatives sound burnt out, they read a script and repeat the same lines as if it de-escalates a situation entirely created by the company they work for with poorly managed logistics and operations. Honestly I don’t blame them, this must happen all the time. The number of times I was told the same thing is what escalated this experience for me. There was no transparency or urgency throughout my interactions with any representatives. I have no idea if and when I will get my things.

Long-distance move from Cape Coral, FL to Arden, NC

DO NOT USE

What ever you do, do not use Zippy Shell for your next move. I had used Zippy Shell for a long move but smaller items. They hired a moving crew to move my items. We supplied the packing materials such as blankets. The moving crew themselves told us ahead of time that Zippy Shell does the worst job with moving items and our items will most likely be broken due to the way they move and shift the items. They basically said they don't care when moving stuff. Sure enough they were right, broken furniture, broken box, and missing pieces that wee broken off bc because everything was not inside a pod but a cage. I filed a claim for my items, I waited 6 months for them to get back to me to tell me "The 1-800-Pack-Rat Zippy Shell claims process has concluded, and we appreciate your patience regarding the matter. The claims department has evaluated the claim you’ve submitted for damage to items that you rented from the Company. Upon review of the facts of this matter and the terms of the Customer Protection/Duty to Insure Addendum to the Rental Agreement, it has been determined that the damage incurred to your property were not caused as a result of the unit being improperly loaded, mishandled or dropped by a member of the 1-800-Pack-Rat Zippy Shell staff.

Section 6 of the Addendum states: “6. Exclusions: We do not assume liability for damage caused directly or indirectly by any of the following, regardless of any other cause or event contributing concurrently or in any sequence to loss: or (xii) damage caused by improper packing, normal shifting or intentional acts. (please see attached rental agreement terms/conditions)” Based on the terms of the Addendum, this is not a covered loss.

Additionally, the Loading/Unloading Help section of your attached signed rental agreement advises that 1-800-Pack-Rat Zippy Shell does not provide packing assistance or packing materials. It is the customer’s responsibility to supply such items if they wish them to be used during the loading process. The claims team reviewed the documentation enclosed within your claims submission and spoke with the loading team. They confirmed that no adequate protective loading materials were provided. While we apologize for your experience, 1-800-Pack-Rat Zippy Shell cannot take responsibility for the damages sustained to your property."

Again we provided blankets and packing materials and they provided the workers to pack the items. Do not use them. It may seem like a good idea but use someone else. Let their business fail for not taking care of their clients.

Moved from Texas to Wisconsin.

During a truly hard time in my life zippy shell took the worse part out of the equation for me. They load, store, and unload. The whole staff was amazing and super nice. I recommend them. I personally feel they had a better over view than pod. Worth every cent paid to make my life easier.

Long-distance move from Los Angeles, CA to New York, NY

The worst moving company ever!

Zippy shell is the worst moving company ever. I moved from CA to NY, on November 30th. Before signing contract, they said I will receive my shell waaaay before Christmas, and I specifically said: “so I can put my Christmas decorations in shell” and they confirmed! It didn’t happened. Because my apartment required COI and insurance, which took up to 48 hours for them to issue (which they did not). Long story short, they ruined Christmas for my son and did not deliver my shell on time. Even worse, they scheduled delivery for me on the day that they were already closed for holidays so I cannot do anything! They lie, screw and do not care about anything. Untill this moment, I still do not have my shell! My son did not talk for two whole days when he found out that he won’t have his toys and Christmas tree decorations on time for Christmas. DO NOT CHOOSE ZIPPY SHELL. DOESN’T WORTH EMOTIONAL DISTRESS.

Terrible unprofessional.

Showed up 5 hours late and never called to let us know. Loading professionals were a joke and didn't take care of our stuff well. Would not recommend this service to anyone.
